为了研究超大涡模拟(very large eddy simulation,VLES)方法预测高压喷雾发展过程的能力,文章采用VLES方法耦合离散相模型(discrete phase model,DPM)对桑迪亚国家实验室“Spray A”正十二烷喷雾射流进行数值研究。在与实验结果进行对... 为了研究超大涡模拟(very large eddy simulation,VLES)方法预测高压喷雾发展过程的能力,文章采用VLES方法耦合离散相模型(discrete phase model,DPM)对桑迪亚国家实验室“Spray A”正十二烷喷雾射流进行数值研究。在与实验结果进行对比的基础上,进一步比较VLES方法与分别采用雷诺时均(Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes,RANS)方法和大涡模拟(large eddy simulation,LES)方法得到的预测结果。研究结果表明,VLES方法耦合DPM能够较准确地预测出燃油雾化的发展过程,在贯穿距、局部物理量以及喷雾形态上的预测结果优于RANS方法,且计算量相较于LES方法大大降低。 展开更多

The vapor-liquid equilibrium of binary mixtures of propyl acetate, butyl acetate and isobutyl acetate with meth- anol has been determined at a constant pressure of 0.6 MPa. Results have been modeled with the Peng-Robinson equation, a traditional cubic equation of state widely employed in chemical industries, as well as with the perturbed-chain statistical associating fluid PC-SAFT theory of Gross-Sadowski. By correlation of the binary inter- action parameters of these equations, the measured vapor-liquid equilibrium data can be accurately predicted. Thus, this work shows that these models are able to represent the experimental data for systems with associating comoounds via hydrogen bonding. 展开更多

开敞式进水池在大流量、低水位情况下易出现表面涡,严重时将发展为吸气涡,影响泵站安全稳定运行。为准确模拟吸气涡流动结构,采用S-CLSVOF方法捕捉水气交界面,并基于混合RANS/LES方法中的VLES方法解析湍流场结构,分析了网格与计算时间... 开敞式进水池在大流量、低水位情况下易出现表面涡,严重时将发展为吸气涡,影响泵站安全稳定运行。为准确模拟吸气涡流动结构,采用S-CLSVOF方法捕捉水气交界面,并基于混合RANS/LES方法中的VLES方法解析湍流场结构,分析了网格与计算时间对计算结果的影响,同时研究了VLES模型的特性。结果表明:VLES模型可以准确地预测吸气涡流场中的速度分布;不同网格数量级对速度分布与相对吸气率的变化规律影响较小,为降低计算资源消耗,网格数量级达到O(10^(6))即可;根据相对吸气率随时间的变化规律可判断吸气涡达到稳定的时刻,在该时刻之后计算10 s即满足相关标准的要求,进一步延长计算时间不改变吸气涡位置与相对吸气率的变化规律;在本算例中,VLES模型的解析度主要受湍流积分尺度的影响,在近壁面为RANS模式以降低近壁面网格要求,而在湍流核心区为混合RANS/LES以提高计算精度。 展开更多

This research study measures the support for learners through the use of a Virtual Learning Environment project website. The website prepares, assists and supports the learners through their Mechanical Engineering Projects in an accredited academic programme. The research question answered was "Is the VLE website helpful to learners in the final years of mechanical engineering projects?" The research focuses on the learners' experiences of using the project website and explores their views regarding the website. The literature relating to the study indicates that similar programmes have had positive results in relation to the adoption of VLEs to support learners.The data collection process involved an initial questionnaire about the website for the quantitative analysis. Thirty-nine project learners from the third and fourth years of the Mechanical Engineering programme participated in the questionnaires. The analysis of the questionnaire results indicated that the project website VLE was very helpful to learners completing their Mechanical Engineering projects. They all used the website for different aspects of the project but they still wanted a lecturer or lecturers to consult with for problems during the course of the project. The kinesthetic learning achieved in the project modules cannot be replicated or replaced by any virtual learning environment. The website afforded the learner to be better prepared for the project start in September. It gives the learner another resource to refer to when they were working at home, during the holidays or when they come to a particular part of the project. The website also teaches the learner to use the internet, videos, screencasts, tutorials, etc. to help them to complete the project.The website has enhanced student learning, motivation, earlier starts to project, peer learning and has improved the quality of projects. 展开更多

VLE data was measured for dichlorobenzene, the parameters were simulated in Wilson equation. The infinite dilute activity coefficient of dichlorobenzene in diphenylamine were measured by chromatogram apparatus, the model parameters were correlated by the single parameter method for dichlorobenzene and diphenyl -amine, VLE data of m-dichlorobenzene-p- dichlorobenzene -o-dichlorobenzene-diphenylamine system was measured and calculated by six part model parameters. 旋转分离流动在水力机械扩散流道中普遍存在,采用合适的计算模型,揭示该类型流动的特征及形成机理,对水力机械稳定运行与调控具有参考意义。采用可直接求解大尺度涡的超大涡模拟方法(VLES),对突扩管旋转分离流动进行数值模拟研究,以探... 旋转分离流动在水力机械扩散流道中普遍存在,采用合适的计算模型,揭示该类型流动的特征及形成机理,对水力机械稳定运行与调控具有参考意义。采用可直接求解大尺度涡的超大涡模拟方法(VLES),对突扩管旋转分离流动进行数值模拟研究,以探究该方法对旋转湍流的预测性能。此外,对比分析了不同进口旋流强度下突扩管内的流动特征,在研究VLES方法对网格尺度敏感性的基础上,将VLES方法计算结果与实验数据以及其他湍流模型的计算结果进行了对比。结果表明:在合理的网格尺度范围内,加密网格可降低修正系数,提升VLES方法的预测效果,增加湍流尺度的求解量;与SST k-ω模型相比,VLES方法有效降低了涡粘系数,可以预测到更多湍流结构和明显的涡带特征,其速度分布与实验值更加接近,相比于DDES k-ω模型,计算效率更高;对于不同旋流强度的进口条件,VLES方法均可相对准确地预测到突扩管内的分离涡以及回流涡,对平均速度及脉动速度的预测与实验值和LES结果吻合。 展开更多

Following the idea of Speziale's Very Large Eddy Simulation (VLES) method, a new unified hybrid simulation approach was proposed which can change seamlessly from RANS (Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes) to LES (Large Eddy Simulation) method depending on the numerical resolution. The model constants were calibrated in accordance with other hybrid methods. Besides being able to approach the two limits of RANS and LES, the new model also provides a proper VLES mode between the two limits, and thus can be used for a wide range of mesh resolutions. Also RANS simulation can be recovered near the wall which is similar to the Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) concept. This new methodology was implemented into Wilcox's κ- ω model and applications were conducted for fully developed turbulent channel flow at ReT = 395 and turbulent flow past a square cylinder at Re = 22000. Results were compared with LES predictions and other studies. The new method is found to be quite efficient in resolving large flow structures, and can predict satisfactory results on relative coarse mesh. 展开更多

The internal flow in an axial flow rotating machinery is affected by the rotating characteristics, often accompanied by a strong rotating separation under small flow conditions. At present, the very large eddy simulation (VLES) model commonly used for the separation flow simulation still has certain limitations in simulating such rotating separation flow: (1) The Reynolds stress level is overestimated in the near-wall region. (2) The influence of the rotating effect cannot be effectively considered. The above two limitations affect the simulation accuracy of the VLES model for the rotating separation flow under small flow conditions in the axial flow rotating machinery. The objective of this paper is to provide a new hybrid unsteady Reynolds average Navier-Stokes/large eddy simulation (URANS/LES) model suitable for the simulation of the rotating separation flow in an axial flow rotating machinery. Compared with the original VLES method, the modifications are as follows: (1) A Reynolds stress damping function in the near-wall region is introduced to reduce the overestimation of the Reynolds stress caused by the near-wall Reynolds average Navier-Stokes (RANS) behavior of the VLES model. (2) A control function driven by the vortex is introduced to reflect the influence of the rotating effect. Three typical cases are used to verify the calculation accuracy of the modified model. It is shown that the modified model can capture more turbulent vortices based on the URANS grids, and the prediction accuracy of the rotating separation flow is effectively improved. Compared with the original VLES model, the modified model can accurately predict the head change in the hump region of the axial flow pump. 展开更多
