The equations governing one-dimensional steady flow through such a tube for various conditions have been developed. The effects of inertial and inclination angles that have not been discussed previously have been included. It has been shown that different flows for a uniform tube (vein) are possible. However, this flow matches that of a jugular vein which is supercritical, and the steady solution has been given by the balance between the driving forces of gravity and the viscous resistance to the flow at the right atrium of the heart must be sub-critical for a fixed right-atrium pressure which means that an elastic jump is required to return the flow to sub-critical from the supercritical flow upstream this type of relationship gives rise to flow limitation at the same time given any right atrium fixed pressure there exists a maximum flow rate which when exceeded the boundary conditions of the flow do not hold boundary conditions at the right atrium are not satisfied hence making the steady flow impossible this mechanism of flow limitation is slightly different from the other one in that causes airways through forced expiration from the observation made it is clearly shown that there is an intravascular pressure difference with a change in height.展开更多

This study aimed to investigate the imaging features of intrahepatic portal vein in adult patients with CTPV and establish the relationship between the manifestations of intrahepatic portal vein and the progression of CTPV. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 14 CTPV patients in Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital. All patients underwent both direct portal venography(DPV) and computed tomography angiography(CTA) to reveal the manifestations of the portal venous system. The vessels measured included the left portal vein(LPV), right portal vein(RPV), main portal vein(MPV) and the portal vein bifurcation(PVB). Results: Nine males and 5 females, with a median age of 40.5 years, were included in the study. No significant difference was found in the diameters of the LPV or RPV measured by DPV and CTA. The visualization in terms of LPV, RPV and PVB measured by DPV was higher than that by CTA. There was a significant association between LPV/RPV and PVB/MPV in term of visibility revealed with DPV( P = 0.01), while this association was not observed with CTA. According to the imaging features of the portal vein measured by DPV, CTPV was classified into three categories to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment. Conclusions: DPV was more accurate than CTA for revealing the course of the intrahepatic portal vein in patients with CTPV. The classification of CTPV, that originated from the imaging features of the portal vein revealed by DPV, may provide a new perspective for the diagnosis and treatment of CTPV.展开更多

Tectonic fracture calcite veins mainly in the undulating part of the structure and non-tectonic fracture calcite veins are mainly formed in the gentle part of the structure. The latter, mainly induced by hydrocarbon generation, occurred at the stage of peak oil and gas generation, while the former turned up with the formation of Luzhou paleouplift during the Indosinian. Under the influence of hydrocarbon generation pressurization process, fractures were opened and closed frequently, and oil and gas episodic activities are recorded by veins. The formation pressure coefficient at the maximum paleodepth exceeds 2.0. The formation uplift stage after the Late Yanshanian is the key period for shale gas migration. Shale gas migrates along the bedding to the high part of the structure. The greater the structural fluctuation is, the more intense the shale gas migration activity is, and the loss is more. The gentler the formation is, the weaker the shale gas migration activity is, and the loss is less. The shale gas enrichment in the core of gentle anticlines and gentle synclines is relatively higher.展开更多

文摘AIM:To investigate the aqueous vein in vivo by using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography(EDI-OCT)and optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA).METHODS:In this cross-sectional comparative study,30 healthy participants were enrolled.Images of the aqueous and conjunctival veins were captured by EDI-OCT and OCTA before and after water loading. The area, height, width, location depth and blood flow of the aqueous vein and conjunctival vein were measured by Image J software.RESULTS:In the static state, the area of the aqueous vein was 8166.7±3272.7μm^(2),which was smaller than that of the conjunctival vein(13690±7457μm^(2),P<0.001).The mean blood flow density of the aqueous vein was 35.3%±12.6%,which was significantly less than that of the conjunctival vein(51.5%±10.6%,P<0.001).After water loading, the area of the aqueous vein decreased significantly from 8725.8±779.4μm^(2)(baseline)to 7005.2±566.2μm^(2)at 45min but rose to 7863.0±703.2μm^(2)at 60min(P=0.032).The blood flow density of the aqueous vein decreased significantly from 41.2%±4.5%(baseline)to 35.4%±3.2%at 30min but returned to 45.6%±3.6%at 60min(P=0.021).CONCLUSION:The structure and blood flow density of the aqueous vein can be effectively evaluated by OCT and OCTA.These may become biological indicators to evaluate aqueous vein changes and aqueous outflow resistance under different interventions in glaucoma patients.
文摘BACKGROUND:The piggy-back caval anastomosis technique is widely used in orthotopic liver transplantation although it carries an increased risk of complications, including outflow obstruction and Budd-Chiari syndrome. The aim of this study is to clarify the anatomy and variations of hepatic veins(HVs) draining into the inferior vena cava(IVC),and to classify the surgical techniques of piggy-back liver transplantation(PBLT) based on the anatomy of HVs which can reduce the occurrence of complications.METHODS:PBLT was performed in 248 consecutive cases at our hospital from January 2004 to August 2011.The anatomy of recipients’ HVs was determined when removing the native diseased livers. Both anatomy of HVs and short HVs draining into the IVC were recorded. These data were collected and analyzed.RESULTS:We classified anatomic variations of HVs in the 248 livers into five types according to the way of drainage into the IVC:type I(trunk type of left and middle HVs),142(57.3%) patients;type II(trunk type of right and middle HVs),54(21.8%);type III(trunk type of left, middle and right HVs),14(5.6%);type IV(non-trunk type of left, middle and right HVs),of which, type IVa,16(6.5%),in the same horizontal plane;type IVb,18(7.3%),in different horizontal planes;and type V(segment type),4(1.6%).The patients whose HVs anatomy belonged to types I,II and III underwent classical piggy-back liver transplantation.Type IVa patients had classical PBLT via HV venoplasty prior to piggy-back anastomosis, while type IVb patients and type V patients could only have modified PBLT.CONCLUSION:This study demonstrates that HVs can be classified according to the anatomy of their drainage into the IVC and we can use this classification to choose the best operative approach to PBLT.
文摘BACKGROUND Phlebosclerosis is a common age-related fibrotic degeneration of the venous wall.It is a disorder rather than a disease, which may cause venous dysfunction and even venous thrombosis. It is rarely reported in patients with varicose veins.CASE SUMMARY The present report describes the case of a 70-year-old man with varicose veins, vitiligo, and phlebosclerosis.Venous angiography revealed blood reflux in the superficial and deep veins. The patient underwent surgery to remove the saphe-nous veins.During the operation,a calcified vein resembling a wooden stick was found, which was surprisingly extracted from the thickened venous wall.A cross-section of this wooden stick-like vein revealed venous fibrosis and calcification, obvious thickening of the venous wall, extensive collagen deposition on the venous wall, hyaline degeneration, and venous sclerosis causing closure of the venous lumen.CONCLUSION This is probably the first report of a wooden stick-like structure being found in the venous wall in patients with varicose veins and venous ulcers.Phlebosclerosis can be observed in the late stage of varicose veins complicated by frequent infections and worse clinical outcomes. Therefore,it is important to be aware of this condition and address it rather than overlook it.
文摘Background: Cavernous transformation of the portal vein(CTPV) due to portal vein obstruction is a rare vascular anomaly defined as the formation of multiple collateral vessels in the hepatic hilum. The classification of CTPV, that originated from the imaging features of the portal vein revealed by DPV, may provide a new perspective for the diagnosis and treatment of CTPV.
文摘Patients with locally advanced hepatocellular cancer(HCC)and portal vein tumor thrombosis(PVTT)have a dismal prognosis since limited treatment options are available for them.In recent years, effective systemic therapy, and advances in the understanding of technicalities and effectiveness of ablative therapies especially radiotherapy, have given some hope to prolong survival in them. This review summarized recent evidence in literature regarding the possible role of liver resection(LR)and liver transplantation(LT)in patients with locally advanced HCC and PVTT with no extrahepatic disease.Downstaging therapies have helped make curative resection or LT a reality in selected patients. This review emphasizes on the key points to focus on when considering surgery in these patients, who are usually relegated to palliative systemic therapy alone.Meticulous patient selection based on tumor biology, documented downstaging based on imaging and decrease in tumor marker levels, and an adequate waiting period to demonstrate stable disease, may help obtain satisfactory long-term outcomes post LR or LT in an intention to treat strategy in patients with HCC and PVTT.
文摘Point-of-care ultrasound(POCUS)of the internal jugular vein(IJV)offers a noninvasive means of estimating right atrial pressure(RAP),especially in cases where the inferior vena cava is inaccessible or unreliable due to conditions such as liver disease or abdominal surgery. While many clinicians are familiar with visually assessing jugular venous pressure through the internal jugular vein, this method lacks sensitivity. The utilization of POCUS significantly enhances the visualization of the vein, leading to a more accurate identification. It has been demonstrated that combining IJV POCUS with physical examination enhances the specificity of RAP estimation. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of the various sonographic techniques available for estimating RAP from the internal jugular vein, drawing upon existing data.

文摘The relationship between fracture calcite veins and shale gas enrichment in the deep Ordovician Wufeng Formation-Silurian Longmaxi Formation (Wufeng-Longmaxi) shales in southern Sichuan Basin was investigated through core and thin section observations, cathodoluminescence analysis, isotopic geochemistry analysis, fluid inclusion testing, and basin simulation. The shale gas enrichment in the core of gentle anticlines and gentle synclines is relatively higher.

文摘BACKGROUND Percutaneous transhepatic stent placement has become a common strategy for the postoperative treatment of portal vein(PV)/superior mesenteric veins(SMV)stenosis/occlusion.It has been widely used after liver transplantation surgery;however, reports on stent placement for acute PV/SMV stenosis after pancreatic surgery within postoperative 3 d are rare.CASE SUMMARY Herein,we reported a case of intestinal edema and SMV stenosis 2 d after pancreatic surgery. The patient was successfully treated using stent grafts.Although the stenosis resolved after stent placement, complications, including bleeding, pancreatic fistula, bile leakage, and infection, made the treatment highly challenging. The use of anticoagulants was adjusted multiple times to prevent venous thromboembolism and the risk of bleeding. After careful treatment, the patient stabilized, and stent placement effectively managed postoperative PV/SMV stenosis.CONCLUSION Stent placement is effective and feasible for treating acute PV/SMV stenosis after pancreatic surgery even within postoperative 3 d.

文摘Visual near-infrared imaging equipment has broad applications in various fields such as venipuncture, facial injections, and safety verification due to its noncontact, compact, and portable design.Currently, most studies utilize near-infrared single-wavelength for image acquisition of veins. However, many substances in the skin, including water, protein, and melanin can create significant background noise, which hinders accurate detection. In this paper,we developed a dual-wavelength imaging system with phase-locked denoising technology to acquire vein image. The signals in the effective region are compared by using the absorption valley and peak of hemoglobin at 700nm and 940nm,respectively.The phase-locked denoising algorithm is applied to decrease the noise and interference of complex surroundings from the images. The imaging results of the vein are successfully extracted in complex noise environment. It is demonstrated that the denoising effect on hand veins imaging can be improved with 57.3%by using our dual-wavelength phase-locked denoising technology.Consequently, this work proposes a novel approach for venous imaging with dual-wavelengths and phase-locked denoising algorithm to extract venous imaging results in complex noisy environment better.

文摘Objective:A novel technique was explored using an airbag-selective portal vein blood arrester that circumvents the need for an intraoperative assessment of anatomical variations in patients with complex intrahepatic space-occupying lesions. Methods:Rabbits undergoing hepatectomy were randomly assigned to 4 groups:intermittent portal triad clamping(PTC),intermittent portal vein clamping(PVC),intermittent portal vein blocker with an airbag-selective portal vein blood arrester(APC),and without portal blood occlusion(control).Hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury were assessed by measuring the 7-day survival rate, blood loss, liver function, hepatic pathology, hepatic inflammatory cytokine infiltration, hepatic malondialdehyde levels, and proliferating cell nuclear antigen levels. Results:Liver damage was substantially reduced in the APC and PVC groups. The APC animals exhibited transaminase levels similar to or less oxidative stress damage and inflammatory hepatocellular injury compared to those exhibited by the PVC animals.Bleeding was significantly higher in the control group than in the other groups. The APC group had less bleeding than the PVC group because of the avoidance of portal vein skeletonization during hepatectomy. Thus, more operative time was saved in the APC group than in the PVC group. Moreover, the total 7-day survival rate in the APC group was higher than that in the PTC group.Conclusion:Airbag-selective portal vein blood arresters may help protect against hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury in rabbits undergoing partial hepatectomy. This technique may also help prevent liver damage in patients requiring hepatectomy.

文摘Objective:Matrix metalloproteinase 13(MMP13)is an extracellular matrix protease that affects the progression of atherosclerotic plaques and arterial thrombi by degrading collagens, modifying protein structures and regulating inflammatory responses, but its role in deep vein thrombosis(DVT)has not been determined. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential effects of MMP13 and MMP13-related genes on the formation of DVT.Methods:We altered the expression level of MMP13 in vivo and conducted a transcriptome study to examine the expression and relationship between MMP13 and MMP13-related genes in a mouse model of DVT.After screening genes possibly related to MMP13 in DVT mice, the expression levels of candidate genes in human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)and the venous wall were evaluated. The effect of MMP13 on platelet aggregation in HUVECs was investigated in vitro. Results:Among the differentially expressed genes, interleukin 1 beta, podoplanin(Pdpn),and factor VIII von Willebrand factor(F8VWF)were selected for analysis in mice. When MMP13 was inhibited, the expression level of PDPN decreased significantly in vitro. In HUVECs,overexpression of MMP13 led to an increase in the expression level of PDPN and induced platelet aggregation, while transfection of PDPN-siRNA weakened the ability of MMP13 to increase platelet aggregation. Conclusions:Inhibiting the expression of MMP13 could reduce the burden of DVT in mice. The mechanism involves downregulating the expression of Pdpn through MMP13,which could provide a novel gene target for DVT diagnosis and treatment.

文摘A novel method based on the cross-modality intersecting features of the palm-vein and the palmprint is proposed for identity verification.Capitalising on the unique geometrical relationship between the two biometric modalities, the cross-modality intersecting points provides a stable set of features for identity verification. To facilitate flexibility in template changes,a template transformation is proposed. While maintaining non-invertibility,the template transformation allows transformation sizes beyond that offered by the con-ventional means.Extensive experiments using three public palm databases are conducted to verify the effectiveness the proposed system for identity recognition.
文摘Background:Despite advances in the diagnosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),70%-80%of patients are diagnosed with advanced stage disease.Portal vein tumor thrombus(PVTT)is among the most ominous signs of advanced stage disease and has been associated with poor survival if untreated.Data sources:A systematic search of MEDLINE(PubMed),Embase,Cochrane Library and Database for Systematic Reviews(CDSR),Google Scholar, and National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence(NICE)databases until December 2022 was conducted using free text and MeSH terms:hepatocellular carcinoma, portal vein tumor thrombus, portal vein thrombosis, vascular invasion, liver and/or hepatic resection, liver transplantation, and systematic review. Results:Centers of surgical excellence have reported promising results related to the individualized surgical management of portal thrombus versus arterial chemoembolization or systemic chemotherapy.Critical elements to the individualized surgical management of HCC and portal thrombus include precise classification of the portal vein tumor thrombus, accurate identification of the subgroups of patients who may benefit from resection,as well as meticulous surgical technique. This review addressed five specific areas:(a)formation of PVTT;(b)classifications of PVTT;(c)controversies related to clinical guidelines;(d)surgical treatments versus non-surgical approaches;and(e)characterization of surgical techniques correlated with classifications of PVTT.Conclusions:Current evidence from Chinese and Japanese high-volume centers demonstrated that patients with HCC and associated PVTT can be managed with surgical resection with acceptable results.

文摘Citrus yellow vein clearing virus(CYVCV)is a new citrus virus that has become an important factor restricting the development of China’s citrus industry, and the CYVCV coat protein(CP)is associated with viral pathogenicity. In this study, the Eureka lemon zinc finger protein(ZFP)ClDOF3.4 was shown to interact with CYVCV CP in vivo and in vitro.Transient expression of ClDOF3.4 in Eureka lemon induced the expression of salicylic acid(SA)-related and hypersensitive response marker genes, and triggered a reactive oxygen species burst, ion leakage necrosis, and the accumulation of free SA.Furthermore, the CYVCV titer in ClDOF3.4 transgenic Eureka lemon plants was approximately 69.4%that in control plants 6 mon after inoculation, with only mild leaf chlorotic spots observed in those transgenic plants.Taken together, the results indicate that ClDOF3.4 not only interacts with CP but also induces an immune response in Eureka lemon by inducing the SA pathways. This is the first report that ZFP is involved in the immune response of a citrus viral disease, which provides a basis for further study of the molecular mechanism of CYVCV infection.
