[Method] Experimental chickens in- fected with mycoplasma gallisepticum were used as models to investigate the treat- ment efficacy of different doses of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine mycoplas- ma gallisepticum infection spray. [Result] Medication with traditional Chinese veteri- nary medicine mycoplasma gallisepticum infection spray for continuous 5 d showed certain treatment efficacy against mycoplasma gallisepticum infection. The relative weight gain rate of 0.5 and 1.0 g/m3 dose groups was significantly higher than the infection control group (P〈0.01); the cure rate of mycoplasma gallisepticum infection spray groups was significantly higher than the infection control group (P〈0.01) and showed no significant difference compared with Taimiaoling control group (P〉0.05); the mortality rate showed no significant difference among various groups (P〉0.05), indicating that traditional Chinese veterinary medicine mycoplasma gallisepticum in- fection spray has relatively ideal treatment efficacy against mycoplasma gallisepticum infection. [Conclusion] This study provided reference for treatment of chickens infect- ed with mycoplasma gallisepticum.展开更多

A total of 120 chickens of 14 days old were selected. After one week of adaptive feeding, they were evenly and randomly divided into four groups: one time the therapeutic dose (T1), three times the therapeutic dose (T2), five times the therapeutic dose (T3) and control (CK). In different groups, the chickens were fed with Manhuning oral liquid according to the set doses for one week. At the beginning and at the end of the experiment, total 10 chickens were selected randomly from each group, respectively. They were weighed, and their blood was sampled for determination of routine blood indexes and examination of liver and kidney function. Organ indexes were determined, and pathological examination was conducted for the head, liver, spleen, lung and kidney of the chickens. The results showed that the body mass gain and organ indexes differed insignificantly among different groups (P〉0.05). No significant differences were found in the routine blood indexes, serum ALT activity, albumin content, creatinine content and urea content among different groups before and after the experiment (P〉0.05). After the administration, the head, liver, spleen, lung and kidney of the chickens showed no obvious abnormalities. In shod, Manhuning oral liquid had little impact on the physiological and biochemical indexes and had no toxic effects on the head, liver, spleen, lung and kidney of chickens, and it is a low-toxicity safe veterinary drug preparation.展开更多

Recently, production demands on the livestock industry have been centered around the use of antibiotics as growth promoters due to growing concern over microbial antibiotic resistance. With many countries reporting increased incidences of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, laws and regulations are being updated to end in-feed antibiotic use in the animal production industry. This sets the need for suitable alternatives to be established for inclusion in feed. Many reports have shown evidence that nanoparticles may be good candidates for animal growth promotion and antimicrobials. The current status and advancements of nanotechnological applications in animal production will be the focus of this review and the emerging roles of nanoparticles for nutrient delivery, biocidal agents, and tools in veterinary medicine and reproduction will be discussed. Additionally, influences on meat, egg, and milk quality will be reviewed.展开更多

The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of gatifloxacin and its bactericidal effects were investigated. Gatifloxacin inhibited the growth of the canine periodontopathic bacteria tested in broth. An MIC of 50 nM was found to be effective in inhibiting P. gulae. On performing adenosine triphosphate bioluminescence assay, gatifloxacin was found to exhibit bactericidal effects on the tested bacteria in a concentration-dependent manner. The safety of gatifloxacin in mammalian cells was evaluated by assessing the viability of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem (BMMS) cells treated with gatifloxacin. Almost over 80% of BMMS cells survived after a 3-day culture when treated with 100 nM of gatifloxacin. These results indicate that locally administered gatifloxacin has the potential for being used to prevent canine periodontal infection.展开更多

Taxonomic identification of wildlife is an ordinary process for forensics experts. The aim of this study was to analyze animal’s hair from Brazilian’s wildlife through microscopic and compare morphology of bristle among species analyzed. Hair samples of nine species were analyzed. Glass slides were analyzed through optical microscopy and following measurements were obtained: total length, medulla diameter, overall diameter and overall ratio diameter of the medulla’s diameter. The images obtained at identification of animals through the morphology of hair and the statistics analysis corroborates in favor for the validation of the technique.展开更多
