His plan backfires and things get out of hand when his parents arrive in the United States to plan his wedding banquet. Based on Hall's theory of high-context and low-context culture, this paper analyzes the cultural conflicts in the movie from six perspectives, and offers suggestions to the harmonious development of China and America. It is hoped that the paper can help readers get an in-depth comprehension of Hall's theory of high-context and low-context culture and discover some invisible conflicts between China and the West and finally raise people's consciousness of cultural conflicts and ways of handling the conflicts. With the advancement of globalization, intercultural communicative competence is becoming more and more important, and social communication between China and the West will become more relaxed and fruitful if people acquire more knowledge in intercultural communication.展开更多
