Cross-sectional survey research design was applied for collecting quantitative data using a semi-structured questionnaire administered to 384 households stratified on the basis of PFM participation status. Qualitative data was collected through focused group discussions using a checklist and key informant interviews using an interview schedule. Using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 25, Binomial regression with Wald Chi-square was analyzed to identify factors perceived to be significantly influencing benefits for PFM participants and Pearson Chi-square to compare factors perceived to be affecting PFM and non-PFM participants. CFA members participation in PFM was significantly and positively affected by benefits of PFM income generating activities and forest products accessed in the forest. Benefits linked to Plantation Establishment for Livelihood Improvement System (PELIS) for CFA members were significantly reduced by enforcement of moratorium policy since February 2018, diseases and pests, poor PELIS guideline adherence and animal damage. Benefits related to state forest access for firewood by the CFA members were negatively influenced by the moratorium policy. Diseases and pests affected benefits associated with bee keeping significantly. Comparing factors under different PFM participation status, crop production was significantly affected by policy changes, pest and diseases, animal damage and PELIS guideline adherence for CFA members than for Non-CFA members. Policy changes also affected the CFA members significantly in firewood collection and access to fodder in the state forest than the Non-CFA members. Hence, sustainable community participation in Upper Imenti Forest management requires: increasing PFM benefits, addressing factors reducing benefits and enhancing active participation of CFA members in PFM related decision-making processes.展开更多

One of the major indices of the performance of primary health care (PHC) remains improved access to essential drugs as they are the link between patients and health services. Consequently, their availability or absence will contribute to a positive or negative impact on health. This was a quasi-experimental study, carried out in Anambra state, which compared the intervention and control groups following the training and provision of drug management tools to PHC workers in the intervention group. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 264 health workers from 132 health centers from two senatorial zones in the State, one acting as a control group and the other as an intervention group. Data was collected using a pre-tested in-depth interview guide and semi-structured interviewer administered questionnaire. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS at a statistical significance level of p value less than 0.05, while qualitative data was analyzed using N-Vivo. Several factors such as age, sex, educational qualification, cadre of staff, years of practice and PHC workers’ previous training were identified as affecting the knowledge and practice of drug management. The majority (72.0% and 71.2%) in intervention and control groups respectively said inadequate information or lack of knowledge was the main reason for poor practices while the proportion with low interest of health workers for drug management was (38.5%) for intervention and (59.8%) for the control group and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (p = 0.034). In conclusion, this study has shown that age, sex, educational qualification, cadre of staff, years of practice and PHC workers’ previous training were factors associated with health workers’ knowledge and practice of drug management. The study recommends the development of Aide Memoire and conduct of training and retraining on drug management to improve both knowledge and practice of drug management in PHCs in Nigeria.展开更多

In rapidly growing cities of developing countries like Accura, Ghana, waste collection is done without sufficient protection of workers. This situation became worse when the COVID-19 pandemic began to threaten the health and safety of waste collection workers. This paper aims to examine waste management workers’ safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana. To better understand waste management workers’ safety concerns during the pandemic, we used the questionnaire survey. Our questionnaire survey was conducted among 60 waste management workers in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. The study then discusses how municipal waste management authorities can ensure safety of waste management workers during the pandemic. Our results showed that 58% of the respondents were worried about the COVID-19 pandemic, while 20% were not even sure of the existence of the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides their worry, we also found that about 40% of the respondents had access to face masks/shields at their workplace, and 30% had hand sanitizers. This paper highlights that providing more advanced safety protocols in terms of workers daily operations and safety measures will enable a safe working environment for the workers even in terms of future pandemics.展开更多

This is done through an efficient use of existing sources of explicit and tacit knowledge in the field of vocational occupational safety and health (OSH) training. This project identifies three specific research steps for the development of the knowledge management framework of the information technology-based approach for improving occupational safety training of young workers, including: (1) the development of the conceptual model of the flow of explicit knowledge of OSH; (2) evaluation of the effectiveness of formal and explicit knowledge sources for OSH and training methods using these sources in the context of attitudes towards health and safety at work; and (3) verification of the proposed model of vocational training with the use of combined explicit and hidden knowledge. The proposed framework includes consideration of the effectiveness of the formal and informal sources of safety knowledge. A mapping from the formal sources of explicit knowledge about the occupational safety to expected attitudes (hidden knowledge) towards OSH outcomes, including emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects has been used. The above framework should help to improve the system of vocational training for young workers in Poland.展开更多

They also provide cultural, social and economic support to human welfare. Forest degradation is attributed to multiple land uses which include agriculture, human settlement, the use of trees as the main source of energy and other infrastructure development. The main objective of the study was to assess factors that influence community participation in forest management in Kangankundi village forest area in Balaka District, Southern Malawi. Simple random sampling was used to select 100 community members who were interviewed in the study. Data were analyzed in SPSS version 22. The results showed positive significant relationship between community awareness and community participation (p = 0.015), and also between economic benefits and community involvement (p = 0.003). Involvement was not affected by income-generating activity which showed that (p = 0.781) and level of education (p = 0.535). Community awareness and economic benefits appear to be the main factors influencing community participation. Firewood and bamboos were noted to be the most resource obtained from the forest and beekeeping was also the income-generating activity in the study which is being promoted. It is concluded that community participation is influenced by many factors. The study recommends that youth must be deliberately involved in forest management as opposed to the current participation which is dominated by elderly people.展开更多

The perceived total waste generation rates were lower than the actual measurements. Administrators perceived lower rates than implementers. The results indicated three categories of medical waste which are given due attention, that is, sharps waste, pathological and infectious waste. Other wastes like radioactive, chemical, pharmaceutical, pressurized containers receive very little attention. Container colour coding and labelling was negligible, while improvised containers are still in use. Medical waste is transported within hospitals manually, with little efforts on mechanized transportation. Poor waste storage was observed, while the prominent medical waste treatment technologies are medium temperature incinerators. Off-site transportation of medical waste is practiced, where the waste is finally dumped or buried. The hospitals are currently utilizing public-private partnership schemes for MWM in only one aspect of off-site transportation. Three main problems which require high attention include: Weaknesses in hospital management, poor MWM infrastructure, and lack of skills and knowledge on MWM among HWs. Knowledge and awareness among HWs on health hazards associated with poor MWM is low (with exception of cholera, HIV and typhoid). Few PPE types are supplied and used in the hospitals, leading to poor diseases prevention. There is also low knowledge among HWs on administrative issues related to MWM in Tanzanian hospitals.展开更多

The stress of human resources is directly related with work performance, and as such, should be managed to improve work performance. This study aims to perform a comparative analysis of job stress levels after a survey on the job stress of field managers and workers. Through the analysis, it is found that the stress levels of field managers are different from those of the workers and construction field managers and workers get job stress scores less than average scores of Korean male workers. In addition, different personal factors affect the field managers and the workers differently. Therefore, understanding by which factor the other parties become stressed is expected to improve efficiency in the management of human resources.展开更多

For example, PC administrators in Japanese national educational institutions must report operation status of PC practice rooms once a year. But, there is currently no system for automatically recording PC operating situations. Therefore, the burden on the PC administrators is big. In this study, we aimed at systems for accurately managing the sitting and work time without psychologically stressing PC users. This time, we propose uniform management systems of sitting and work time using smart tap node and mat sensor node by IoT (Internet of Things) technology. The smart tap was connected to PCs to acquire the operating status of the PCs. In parallel with this smart tap, the mat sensor was used to acquire human presence state. By calculating binary data representing the PC operating status and human presence state from the two sensing data (smart tap and mat sensor) by the proposed technique, we can exactly calculate wasteful power consumption etc. The use of IoT technology makes it unnecessary to use large installation services when introducing our system. Therefore, this our proposal system can be easily installed even by unskilled workers.展开更多

How to improve employment ability of new generation migrant workers is the central part of improving living of migrant workers and development environment. Based on survey data of 6 counties in Hubei Province,I analyzed employment will and influence factors of new generation migrant workers. Researches have indicated that going out to work, employment opportunity, nature of subordinate service industry, industrial technical level, and financial support play a significant role in employment intention of migrant workers, while their employment ability is influenced by their cultural quality, professional skills, working endurance, degree of policy cognition, and information channel, etc. In view of these five aspects,I put forward following countermeasures: raise educational level, improve skills, strengthen endurance, enhance attention to policies, and expand information channel,to improve employment ability of new generation migrant workers.展开更多

G...This paper discusses participatory processes in wildland fire management (WFM). Participation is an essential element of both the European Sustainable Development (SD) Strategy and the White Paper on Governance. Governance end SD have thus become an interconnected challenge to be applied to WFM (as a sub-area in forest policy), amongst other policies. An overspread weakness in WFM is lack of real participation of stakeholders. Absence of (or deficient) participation can seriously impair contribution of this group to WFM in high-risk areas and runs counter governance and the SDS. Further, this weakness might prevent an efficient use of fire as a land management tool (prescribed burning, PB) and as a technique for fighting wildfire (suppression fire, SF). Even though these fire practices have been well known in many different places, they have been increasingly neglected or Prohibited over time in Southern Europe. At present, forest and fire fighting administrations are turning their eyes back on them and analyzing the benefits of using fire in relation to preventive and suppressive actions. Therefore, participatory and diffusion mechanisms (the latter adopting the shape of national and international experts' networks) are required in order to solve the so- called fire paradox: that is, the need to move from a one-dimensinnal perception of the negative impacts of fire to a more sophisticated one that also stresses its positive effects. Governance, based on broad social participation, and diffusion, through fire networks, are of utmost importance in order, first, to diminish long-standing suspicion amongst different interests as to the use of fire and, secondly, to diffuse best practices associated with PB and SF. Most importantly, the ELI should exercise its environmental leadership so that these new fire practices and sustainable WFM are diffused across the international arena.展开更多

文摘This paper aims to develop a novel knowledge management framework for improving the system of pro-safety attitudes among young worker population in Poland. The above framework should help to improve the system of vocational training for young workers in Poland.

There is also low knowledge among HWs on administrative issues related to MWM in Tanzanian hospitals.

文摘The construction and development of social public management's new normal depend on the scientific transformation of government functionalization orientation and highlighting the role of grassroots public's extensive illustrations on social issues and social conditions.Based on this situation,in the process of public participation mechanism construction,it is necessary to emphasize that the construction of joint elements should be carried out systematically and comprehensively, and to dig deep into the relations and functions of all elements. When the stability of public participation mechanism construction is fully guaranteed,it will extensively supervise and evaluate the development of government's social public management cause, help achieve the final goal of coordinating social development environment and social development elements, ensure that the intrinsic value of public participation mechanism can be thoroughly displayed.
文摘A successful construction project hinges on the effective and efficient management of human resources. Therefore, understanding by which factor the other parties become stressed is expected to improve efficiency in the management of human resources.
文摘In Iran, and in order to encourage local watershed management, community based organizations (CBO) like "cooperatives of watershed", "construction groups" and "watershed management groups" have been established to obtain resident's cooperation in activities eormeeted with protection, reclamation and exploitation of natural resources in the basins that lead to sustainability within watershed management. This study was done as a ease study to explore the role of Remeleh Group (RG) as a CBO in the management of the "Kharkheh" sub-basin. Participatory action and learning method was used. Participatory tools including natural resources mapping, flow diagram, transect walk, semi-structured interview and brainstorming were applied. Making the conclusion, it was found that the CBO of Remeleh Group cause: (1) Enhancement of social capital through encouraging cooperation and participatory practices, creating new communication among local residents and outsiders, reducing conflicts and promoting the solidarity among communities in the sub basin of Karldaeh; (2) Sustain livelihood and economic situation through agricultural intensification and livelihood diversification (gardening and agriculture together and reducing migration); (3) Conservation of environmental and natural recourses via the implementation of watershed activities like vine, terracing, bunding and destocking, seedling, and check dams; (4) Empower local people through carrying out training on the watershed practices.
文摘At present time, there has been a demand for management systems that can survey and monitor a PC (personal computer) practice room, movement of people in an office, situation of utilization of facilities and so on in real time without causing psychological stress. Therefore, this our proposal system can be easily installed even by unskilled workers.
文摘Community participation and community based management are topical themes in current policy and discussion revolving around decision-making processes especially those dealing with natural resources management. This review shows that while governments have accepted the need to either cede or devolve control and management of natural resources to the local communities, the communities are not part and parcel of the planning and budgeting which are crucial in decisionmaking.Communities were seen to be more involved in the implementation of natural resource management programs but lacked ownership of the projects. This causes lack of commitment to the programs and at times hostile reaction from the communities. The communities are always at the receiving end when it pertains to losses in the exchange.Community participation was shown to be effective when the local population is involved not as co-operating users but as natural resource managers or owner managers.
基金Supported by Countermeasures for Improvement Employment Will and Ability of New Generation Migrant Workers in Hubei Province ( HBSXK201023)
文摘The issue concerning new generation migrant workers is an important part of current social management. In view of these five aspects,I put forward following countermeasures: raise educational level, improve skills, strengthen endurance, enhance attention to policies, and expand information channel,to improve employment ability of new generation migrant workers.

文摘This paper discusses participatory processes in wildland fire management (WFM). Most importantly, the ELI should exercise its environmental leadership so that these new fire practices and sustainable WFM are diffused across the international arena.
