BACKGROUND: Alpha-actinin ( a -actinin) plays a key role in neuronal growth cone migration during directional differentiation from neural stem cells (NSCs) to neurons. OBJECTIVE: To detect in situ microdistribution and quantitative expression of a -actinin during directional differentiation of NSCs to neurons in the temporal lobe cerebral cortex of neonatal rats. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Between January 2006 and December 2008, culture and directional differentiation of NSCs were performed at Department of Histology and Embryology, Preclinical Medical College, China Medical University. Immune electron microscopy was performed at Department of Histology and Embryology and Department of Electron Micrology, Preclinical Medical College, China Medical University. Spectrum analysis was performed at Laboratory of Electron Microscopy, Mental Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. MATERIALS: Basic fibroblast growth factor, epidermal growth factor, brain-derived nerve growth factor, type-1 insulin like growth factor, and a -actinin antibody were provided by Gibco BRL, USA; rabbit-anti-rat nestin monoclonal antibody, rabbit-anti-rat neuron specific enolase polyclonal antibody, and EDAX-9100 energy dispersive X-ray analysis were provided by PHILIPS Company, Netherlands. METHODS: NSCs, following primary and passage culture, were differentiated with serum culture medium (DMEM/F12 + 10% fetal bovine serum + 2 ng/mL brain-derived nerve growth factor + 2 ng/mL type-1 insulin like growth factor). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Expression of a -actinin in neuron-like cells was quantitatively and qualitatively detected with immunocytochemistry using energy dispersive X-ray analysis. RESULTS: Immunocytochemistry, combined with electron microscopy, indicated that positive α -actinin expression was like a spheroid particle with high electron density. In addition, the expression was gradually concentrated from the nuclear edge to the cytoplasm and expanded into developing neurites, during differentiation of neural stem cells to neurons. Conversely, energy dispersive X-ray analysis indicated that the more mature the neural differentiation was, and the greater the expression of α -actinin. CONCLUSION: The gradual increase of α -actinin expression is related to growth, development, and maturity of differentiated neuron-like cells, in neonatal rat frontal lobe cortex, at different differentiating time points of NSCs to neurons. 展开更多

Some functional lanthanide metal complexes, such as acetylacetonato complexes, ethylenediaminetetraacetato complexes, were successfully applied for diagnostic technique. The authors are interested in investigating the structure and bonding in lanthanide and actinide metal complexes using 166Er, t55Gd, and 237Np Mtissbauer spectroscopies in connection with single-crystal and/or powder X-ray diffraction, making clear the differences on their structures as well as the differences in the participation of 4f and 5f orbitals in the chemical bonds. In this article, the crystal structures of two novel Gd(Ⅲ) acetylacetonato complexes, Gd(pta)3 · 2H2O (pta = 1,1,1 -trifluoro-5,5-dimethy 1-2,4-hexanedione) and Gd(bfa)3 · 2H2O (bfa = 1, 1, 1 -trifluoro-4-phenyl-2-4-butanedione) were reported. Though both of them were dihydrate and had distorted square antiprismatical structure, Gd(pta)3 · 2H2O crystallizes in the P 2 1/n (#14) monoclinic space group and its lattice parameters are a = 1.4141(6) nm, b = 1.0708(3) nm, c =2.2344(4) nm, β =952.4(2)°, and Gd(bfa)3· 2H2O crystallizes in P 212121 orthorhombic space group and its lattice parameters were a = 1.322 (1) nm, b = 2.295 (1) nm, c = 1. 0786(8) nm. In the meantime, the authors had finished a systematic investigation on the ^155Gd Mossbauer isomer shift (δ) of various Gd(Ⅲ) metal complexes having a different coordination number (C.N.) and different ratios coordinating oxygen to nitrogen. A tendency for the 6 value to decrease with an increase in the C.N, and the number of the nitrogen atom coordinating to Gd was confirmed. This indicated that the Gd-O and/or Gd-N bond in the investigated Gd(Ⅲ) metal complexes had a small covalent contribution, which was possible to be deduced from the O and/or N atoms of the lisands donating electrons to 6s, 5d, and 4f orbitals of Gd. 展开更多

The microstmcture evolution of plastic-bonded explosives (PBXs) after thermal stimulus plays a key role in PBX performance. In this paper, the nanoscale pores of thermal-treated octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7 tetrazocine (HMX)- based PBXs with different HMX particle sizes [approximately 40 (FLIP) and 100 μm (LHP)] were measured using small- angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). No obvious pore variations were found in the LHP samples heated at 160 ℃ for 6 h, whereas the amount of pores of FHP decreased when subjected to 160 ℃ for 6 h. At 180 ℃, the average pore radii of FHP and LHP decreased from approximately 45 nm to 25 nm, and the total pore volume increased distinctively because of phase transformation. The LHP sample reached a high level of pore content after being held at 180 ℃ for 1 h, whereas FHP required 3 h. Both FHP and LHP had relatively high pore volumes when subjected to 200 ℃ for 1 and 3 h. 展开更多

In this paper, a simple and facile surfactant assisted combustion synthesis is reported for the ZnO nanoparticles. The synthesis of ZnO-NPs has been done with the assistance of non-ionic surfactant TWEEN 80. The effect of fuel variations and comparative study of fuel urea and glycine have been studied by using characterization techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and particle size analyzer. From XRD, it indicates the presence of hexagonal wurtzite structure for ZnO-NPs. Using X-ray broadening, crystallite sizes and lattice strain on the peak broadening of ZnO-NPs were studied by using Williamson-Hall (W-H) analysis and size-strain plot. Strain, stress and energy density parameters were calculated for the XRD peaks of all the samples using (UDM), uniform stress deformation model (USDM), uniform deformation energy density model (UDEDM) and by the size-strain plot method (SSP). The results of mean particle size showed an inter correlation with W-H analysis, SSP, particle analyzer and TEM results. 展开更多

The enzyme purified under anaerobic conditions from a hyperthermophilic archaeon, Thermococcus profundus, is a hetero-octamer (αβγδ)2 consisting of four different subunits, α = 45 kDa, β = 31 kDa, γ = 22 kDa and δ = 13 kDa, respectively, and it has three [4Fe-4S] clusters per αβγδ-protomer, similar to other ferredoxin oxidoreductases. In the present study, the native enzyme was purified from this strain and crystallized to give rod-like crystals that were suitable for X-ray diffraction experiments. The crystals belonged to space group P41212, with unit-cell parameters a = b = 136.20 ?, c = 221.07 ?. Diffraction images were processed to a resolution of 3.0 ?. The data collected so far indicate the approximate molecular boundaries and a partial main-chain trace of the enzyme. 展开更多

We present narrow-band and equivalent width (EW) images of the thermal composite supernova remnant (SNR) 3C 391 in the X-ray emission lines of Mg, Si and S using the Chandra ACIS Observational data. The EW images reveal the spatial distribution of the emission of the metal species Mg, Si and S in the remnant. They have a clumpy structure similar to that seen in the broadband diffuse emission, suggesting that they are largely of interstellar origin. We find an interesting finger-like feature protruding outside the southwestern radio border of the remnant, somewhat similar to the jet-like Si structure found in the famous SNR Cas A. This feature may possibly be the debris of the jet of ejecta from an asymmetrical supernova explosion of a massive progenitor star. 展开更多

We present a comprehensive analysis of the 2021 outburst of MAXI J1803–298 utilizing observations of the Insight-Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(Insight-HXMT)spanning from the low hard state to the high soft state.Within the Insight-HXMT data set, compared to the previous work,we identify a more prolonged presence of typeC quasi-periodic oscillations(QPOs)with centroid frequencies ranging from~0.16 to 6.3 Hz,which present correlations with the hardness ratio and the photon index of the Comptonized component. For QPO frequencies less than~2 Hz,the QPO phase lags are hard(photons of 10–19 keV arrive later than those of 1–4 keV),while at higher frequencies, the lags become soft at and above~4 Hz.Furthermore, the spectra in all Insight-HXMT observations consist of a multi-color blackbody component and a Comptonized component,as commonly observed in classical black hole X-ray binaries. We analyze state transitions and the evolution of accretion geometry in this work. The fitted inner disk radius increases abnormally during the low hard state, hypothesized to result from the corona condensing onto the inner disk.Additionally, two significant drops in flux are observed during the soft intermediate state, maybe implying changes in the corona/jet and the disk, respectively. 展开更多

The lack of a suitable rootstock to control scion growth has limited the development of high-density plantations in pear production, which is partly attributed to poor understanding of the dwarfing mechanism. In the present study, the rootstock of the dwarf-type pear (Pyrus betulaefolia)PY-9’ was identified and used as the material for anatomical analysis.PY-9’ grew to half the tree height of the normal cultivar Zhengdu’, along with fewer internodes and shorter length. Significant differences in growth rate betweenPY-9’ andZhengdu’ were detected at approximately 30 days after full bloom, which corresponded with the time of the greatest difference in water potential between the dwarf and normal cultivar.PY-9’ showed a higher photosynthetic rate thanZhengdu’. Anatomical analysis showed thatPY-9’ had higher area ratios of both phloem and xylem and more developed vascular tissues thanZhengdu’. The three-dimensional reconstructed skeleton of the xylem from X-ray computed tomography scanning revealed greater intervessel connectivity inZhengdu’ than inPY-9’, which could contribute to the more vigorous growth ofZhengdu’. This study thus provides the first comparison of the microstructural properties of xylem elements between a dwarfing-type and vigorous-type pear rootstock, providing new insights into the dwarfing mechanism in pear and facilitating breeding of dwarf pear rootstocks to increase crop productivity. 展开更多

Background In early adolescence, youth are highly prone to suicidal behaviours.Identifying modifiable risk factors during this critical phase is a priority to inform effective suicide prevention strategies.Aims To explore the risk and protective factors of suicidal behaviours(ie,suicidal ideation, plans and attempts)in early adolescence in China using a social-ecological perspective. Methods Using data from the cross-sectional project‘Healthy and Risky Behaviours Among Middle School Students in Anhui Province,China',stratified random cluster sampling was used to select 5724 middle school students who had completed self-report questionnaires in November 2020.Network analysis was employed to examine the correlates of suicidal ideation, plans and attempts at four levels, namely individual(sex, academic performance, serious physical llness/disability,history of self-harm,depression,impulsivity,sleep problems, resilience),family(family economic status, relationship with mother, relationship with father, family violence, childhood abuse, parental mental illness),school(relationship with teachers, relationship with classmates,school-bullying victimisation and perpetration)and social(social support, satisfaction with society). Results In total,37.9%,19.0%and 5.5%of the students reported suicidal ideation, plans and attempts in the past 6 months, respectively. The estimated network revealed that suicidal ideation, plans and attempts were collectively associated with a history of self-harm,sleep problems, childhood abuse, school bullying and victimisation.Centrality analysis indicated that the most influential nodes in the network were history of self-harm and childhood abuse.Notably, the network also showed unique correlates of suicidal ideation(sex,weight=0.60;impulsivity,weight=0.24;family violence,weight=0.17;relationship with teachers,weight=-0.03;school-bullying perpetration,weight=0.22),suicidal plans(social support,weight=-0.15)and suicidal attempts(relationship with mother,weight=-0.10;parental mental llness,weight=0.61).Conclusions This study identified the correlates of suicidal ideation, plans and attempts, and provided practical implications for suicide prevention for young adolescents in China.Firstly, this study highlighted the importance of joint interventions across multiple departments.Secondly, the common risk factors of suicidal ideation, plans and attempts were elucidated.Thirdly, this study proposed target interventions to address the unique influencing factors of suicidal ideation, plans and attempts. 展开更多

Spatial heterogeneity or“patchiness”of plankton distributions in the ocean has always been an attractive and challenging scientific issue to oceanographers. We focused on the accumulation and dynamic mechanism of the Acetes chinensis in the Lianyungang nearshore licensed fishing area. The Lagrangian frame approaches including the Lagrangian coherent structures theory,Lagrangian residual current, and Lagrangian particle-tracking model were applied to find the transport pathways and aggregation characteristics of Acetes chinensis. There exist some material transport pathways for Acetes chinensis passing through the licensed fishing area, and Acetes chinensis is easy to accumulate in the licensed fishing area. The main mechanism forming this distribution pattern is the local circulation induced by the nonlinear interaction of topography and tidal flow. Both the Lagrangian coherent structure analysis and the particle trajectory tracking indicate that Acetes chinensis in the licensed fishing area come from the nearshore estuary. This work contributed to the adjustment of licensed fishing area and the efficient utilization of fishery resources. 展开更多

The expansion of a thick-walled hollow cylinder in soil is of non-self-similar nature that the stress/deformation paths are not the same for different soil material points. As a result, this problem cannot be solved by the common self-similar-based similarity techniques. This paper proposes a novel, exact solution for rigorous drained expansion analysis of a hollow cylinder of critical state soils.Considering stress-dependent elastic moduli of soils, new analytical stress and displacement solutions for the nonself-similar problem are developed taking the small strain assumption in the elastic zone.In the plastic zone, the cavity expansion response is formulated into a set of first-order partial differential equations(PDEs)with the combination use of Eulerian and Lagrangian descriptions, and a novel solution algorithm is developed to efficiently solve this complex boundary value problem. The solution is presented in a general form and thus can be useful for a wide range of soils. With the new solution, the non-self-similar nature induced by the finite outer boundary is clearly demonstrated and highlighted, which is found to be greatly different to the behaviour of cavity expansion in infinite soil mass. The present solution may serve as a benchmark for verifying the performance of advanced numerical techniques with critical state soil models and be used to capture the finite boundary effect for pressuremeter tests in small-sized calibration chambers. 展开更多

Very low frequency(VLF)signals are propagated between the ground-ionosphere.Multimode interference will cause the phase to show oscillatory changes with distance while propagating at night, leading to abnormalities in the received VLF signal. This study uses the VLF signal received in Qingdao City,Shandong Province, from the Russian Alpha navigation system to explore the multimode interference problem of VLF signal propagation. The characteristics of the effect of multimode interference phenomena on the phase are analyzed according to the variation of the phase of the VLF signal. However, the phase of VLF signals will also be affected by the X-ray and energetic particles that are released during the eruption of solar flares, therefore the two phenomena are studied in this work.It is concluded that the X-ray will not affect the phase of VLF signals at night, but the energetic particles will affect the phase change, and the influence of energetic particles should be excluded in the study of multimode interference phenomena.Using VLF signals for navigation positioning in degraded or unavailable GPS conditions is of great practical significance for VLF navigation systems as it can avoid the influence of multimode interference and improve positioning accuracy. 展开更多

Joint time–frequency analysis is an emerging method for interpreting the underlying physics in fuel cells, batteries, and supercapacitors. To increase the reliability of time–frequency analysis,a theoretical correlation between frequency-domain stationary analysis and time-domain transient analysis is urgently required. The present work formularizes a thorough model reduction of fractional impedance spectra for electrochemical energy devices involving not only the model reduction from fractional-order models to integer-order models and from high-to low-order RC circuits but also insight into the evolution of the characteristic time constants during the whole reduction process. The following work has been carried out:(i)the model-reduction theory is addressed for typical Warburg elements and RC circuits based on the continued fraction expansion theory and the response error minimization technique, respectively;(ii)the order effect on the model reduction of typical Warburg elements is quantitatively evaluated by time–frequency analysis;(iii)the results of time–frequency analysis are confirmed to be useful to determine the reduction order in terms of the kinetic information needed to be captured;and(iv)the results of time–frequency analysis are validated for the model reduction of fractional impedance spectra for lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and solid oxide fuel cells. In turn, the numerical validation has demonstrated the powerful function of the joint time–frequency analysis. The thorough model reduction of fractional impedance spectra addressed in the present work not only clarifies the relationship between time-domain transient analysis and frequency-domain stationary analysis but also enhances the reliability of the joint time–frequency analysis for electrochemical energy devices. 展开更多

Matrix swelling effect will cause the change of microstructure of coal reservoir and its permeability, which is the key factor affecting the engineering effect of CO_(2)-ECBM technology. The Sihe and Yuwu collieries are taken as research objects.Firstly, visualization reconstruction of coal reservoir is realized.Secondly, the evolution of the pore/fracture structures under different swelling contents is discussed. Then, the influence of matrix phase with different swelling contents on permeability is discussed. Finally, the mechanism of swelling effect during the CO_(2)-ECBM process is further discussed. The results show that the intra-matrix pores and matrix-edge fractures are the focus of this study, and the contacting area between matrix and pore/fracture is the core area of matrix swelling. The number of matrix particles decreases with the increase of size, and the distribution of which is isolated with small size and interconnected with large size. The swelling effect of matrix particles with larger size has a great influence on the pore/fracture structures. The number of connected pores/fractures is limited and only interconnected in a certain direction. With the increase of matrix swelling content, the number, porosity, width, fractal dimension, surface area and volume of pores/fractures decrease, and their negative contribution to absolute permeability increases from 0.368% to 0.633% and 0.868%-1.404%,respectively.With the increase of swelling content, the number of intra-matrix pores gradually decreases and the pore radius becomes shorter during the CO_(2)-ECBM process. The matrix continuously expands to the connected fractures, and the width of connected fractures gradually shorten.Under the influence of matrix swelling, the bending degree of fluid flow increases gradually,so the resistance of fluid migration increases and the permeability gradually decreases. This study shows that the matrix swelling effect is the key factor affecting CBM recovery, and the application of this effect in CO_(2)-ECBM process can be discussed. 展开更多

Gears are pivotal in mechanical drives, and gear contact analysis is a typically difficult problem to solve.Emerging isogeometric analysis(IGA)methods have developed new ideas to solve this problem. In this paper,a threedimensional body parametric gear model of IGA is established, and a theoretical formula is derived to realize single-tooth contact analysis. Results were benchmarked against those obtained from commercial software utilizing the finite element analysis(FEA)method to validate the accuracy of our approach. Our findings indicate that the IGA-based contact algorithmsuccessfullymet theHertz contact test. When juxtaposed with the FEA approach, the IGAmethod demonstrated fewer node degrees of freedomand reduced computational units, all whilemaintaining comparable accuracy.Notably, the IGA method appeared to exhibit consistency in analysis accuracy irrespective of computational unit density, and also significantlymitigated non-physical oscillations in contact stress across the tooth width. This underscores the prowess of IGA in contact analysis. In conclusion,IGA emerges as a potent tool for addressing contact analysis challenges and holds significant promise for 3D gear modeling, simulation, and optimization of various mechanical components. 展开更多

The supercritical CO_(2)cOoled Lithium-Lead(COOL)blanket has been designed as one advanced blanket candidate for the Chinese Fusion Engineering Test Reactor(CFETR).This work focuses on the electromagnetic(EM)loads(Maxwell force and Lorentz force)acting on the COOL blanket, which are important mechanical loads in further structural analysis of the COOL blanket.A 3D electromagnetic analysis is performed using the ANSYS finite element method to obtain EM loads on the COOL blanket in this study. At first, the magnetic scalar potential(MSP)method is used to obtain the magnetic field and the Maxwell force on the COOL blanket. Then, the magnetic vector potential(MVP)method is performed during a plasma disruption event to get the eddy current distribution. At last,a multi-step method is adopted for the calculation of the Lorentz force and the torque. The maximum Lorentz forces of inboard and outboard blanket structural components are 5624 kN and 2360 kN respectively. 展开更多

Correlation power analysis(CPA)combined with genetic algorithms(GA)now achieves greater attack efficiency and can recover all subkeys simultaneously. However, two issues in GA-based CPA still need to be addressed:key degeneration and slow evolution within populations. These challenges significantly hinder key recovery efforts. This paper proposes a screening correlation power analysis framework combined with a genetic algorithm, named SFGA-CPA,to address these issues.SFGA-CPA introduces three operations designed to exploit CPA characteris-tics:propagative operation, constrained crossover, and constrained mutation.Firstly, the propagative operation accelerates population evolution by maximizing the number of correct bytes in each individual.Secondly, the constrained crossover and mutation operations effectively address key degeneration by preventing the compromise of correct bytes. Finally,an intelligent search method is proposed to identify optimal parameters, further improving attack efficiency.Experiments were conducted on both simulated environments and real power traces collected from the SAKURA-G platform. In the case of simulation,SFGA-CPA reduces the number of traces by 27.3%and 60%compared to CPA based on multiple screening methods(MS-CPA)and CPA based on simple GA method(SGA-CPA)when the success rate reaches 90%.Moreover,real experimental results on the SAKURA-G platform demonstrate that our approach outperforms other methods. 展开更多
