文摘The ultrahard X-ray multifunctional application beamline(BL12SW)is a phase-II beamline project at the Shanghai Syn-chrotron Radiation Facility. The primary X-ray techniques used at the beamline are high-energy X-ray diffraction and imaging using white and monochromatic light. The main scientific objectives of ultrahard X-ray beamlines are focused on two research areas. One is the study of the structural properties of Earth’s interior and new materials under extreme high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, and the other is the characterization of materials and processes in near-real service environments. The beamline utilizes a superconducting wiggler as the light source, with two diamond windows and SiC discs to filter out low-energy light(primarily below 30 keV)and a Cu filter assembly to control the thermal load entering the subsequent optical components. The beamline is equipped with dual monochromators. The first was a meridional bending Laue monochromator cooled by liquid nitrogen, achieving a full-energy coverage of 30-162 keV.The second was a sagittal bending Laue monochromator installed in an external building, providing a focused beam in the horizontal direction with an energy range of 60-120 keV.There were four experimental hutches:two large-volume press experimental hutches(LVP1 and LVP2)and two engineering material experimental hutches(ENG1 and ENG2).Each hutch was equipped with various near-real service conditions to satisfy different requirements. For example,LVP1 and LVP2 were equipped with a 200-ton DDIA press and a 2000-ton dual-mode(DDIA and Kawai)press,respectively.ENG1 and ENG2 provide in situ tensile, creep, and fatigue tests as well as high-temperature conditions.Since June 2023,the BL12SW has been in trial operation. It is expected to officially open to users by early 2024.

文摘Purpose The Filed of View(FOV)of eXTP/LAD is limited by lead-glass capillary plate collimators placed in front of the Silicon Drift Detectors(SDDs)for reducing the background contamination caused by the photons of Cosmic X-ray Background(CXB)leaking from outside the FOV.The core quality parameters of lead-glass capillary plate collimators are Open Area Ratio(OAR)and FOV.The performance of lead-glass capillary plate collimators is determined by its design specification such as pore-to-pore misalignment, pore perpendicularity with collimator surface and pore diameter.Since the design specification is the result of a large number of micropores,we use the full width at half maximum(FWHM)and peak value of point spread function(PSF)to characterize the capillary plate collimator performance. In order to quickly evaluate the performances of collimators,we developed a direct PSF measurement method using divergent beams. Methods In this paper, the simulation package of the divergent beamsmeasurement setup is developed based on Geant4.The simulation parameters of scintillator absorption length are corrected by experimental data.We simulate the PSF of collimators with different distribution of pore diameter and misalignment by parallel beams and divergent beams.By comparing the peak value and FWHM of collimators PSF,the feasibility in replacing parallel beams measurement with divergent beams measurement is studied. Results It is verified that the influence of the geometric size of 33μm radius of the micro-focus of X-ray tube can be ignored. The results show that the FWHM of collimators is increased with error root mean square error(RMS)of the distribution of collimators pore diameter and pore inclination angle. The peak value of PSF is mainly influenced by pore non-parallelism of the pores, and it decreases with an increase in pore inclination angle.Comparison of parallel beams PSF and divergent beams PSF shows well consistency of peak value and FWHM of collimator. But,the peak value of the divergent beams PSF is mainly affected by the defects of the pores close to the optical axis and result in difference from the parallel beams results consequently. We have developed capillary plate collimators response function based on the projected area function of a cylindrical pore and the fluorescence broadening of the scintillator and fitted PSF by response function. The capillary plate collimator open area ratio is calculated by using the micropores radius and collimator frame thickness obtained by fitting parameter, and the result is close to the parallel beams PSF.Conclusion The feasibility divergent beams measurement is verified.
文摘The BL07U beamline is a new extreme ultraviolet and soft X-ray beamline housed in the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Beamlines are used in nano-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(nano-ARPES), spin-resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(spin-ARPES), X-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy, and X-ray magnetic linear dichroism spectroscopy for certain scientific research. The BL07U beamline, which is based on a pair of elliptical polarized undulators and a variable-included-angle plane-grating monochromator, delivers circularly or linear polarized X-rays within the energy range of 50–2000 eV. The beamline features two branches: One dedicated to nano-ARPES,which has a minimum spot size of only ~ 200 nm, and another branch comprising spin-ARPES, a vector magnetic field, and superconductive magnetic end-station.

文摘Earth’s magnetopause is a thin boundary separating the shocked solar wind plasma from the magnetospheric plasmas, and it is also the boundary of the solar wind energy transport to the magnetosphere.Soft X-ray imaging allows investigation of the large-scale magnetopause by providing a two-dimensional(2-D)global view from a satellite.By performing 3-D global hybrid-particle-in-cell(hybrid-PIC)simulations,we obtain soft X-ray images of Earth’s magnetopause under different solar wind conditions, such as different plasma densities and directions of the southward interplanetary magnetic field. In all cases, magnetic reconnection occurs at low latitude magnetopause. The soft X-ray images observed by a hypothetical satellite are shown, with all of the following identified:the boundary of the magnetopause, the cusps, and the magnetosheath.Local X-ray emissivity in the magnetosheath is characterized by large amplitude fluctuations(up to 160%);however,the maximum line-of-sight-integrated X-ray intensity matches the tangent directions of the magnetopause well, indicating that these fluctuations have limited impact on identifying the magnetopause boundary in the X-ray images. Moreover, the magnetopause boundary can be identified using multiple viewing geometries. We also find that solar wind conditions have little effect on the magnetopause identification. The Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)mission will provide X-ray images of the magnetopause for the first time, and our global hybrid-PIC simulation results can help better understand the 2-D X-ray images of the magnetopause from a 3-D perspective, with particle kinetic effects considered.

文摘The Soft X-ray Imager(SXI)is part of the scientific payload of the Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)mission.SMILE is a joint science mission between the European Space Agency(ESA)and the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)and is due for launch in 2025.SXI is a compact X-ray telescope with a wide field-of-view(FOV)capable of encompassing large portions of Earth’s magnetosphere from the vantage point of the SMILE orbit.SXI is sensitive to the soft X-rays produced by the Solar Wind Charge eXchange(SWCX)process produced when heavy ions of solar wind origin interact with neutral particles in Earth’s exosphere.SWCX provides a mechanism for boundary detection within the magnetosphere, such as the position of Earth’s magnetopause, because the solar wind heavy ions have a very low density in regions of closed magnetic field lines. The sensitivity of the SXI is such that it can potentially track movements of the magnetopause on timescales of a few minutes and the orbit of SMILE will enable such movements to be tracked for segments lasting many hours.SXI is led by the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom(UK)with collaborating organisations on hardware, software and science support within the UK,Europe,China and the United States.

文摘Solar wind charge exchange(SWCX)is the process of solar wind high-valence ions exchanging charges with neutral components and generating soft X-rays.Recently,detecting the SWCX emission from the magnetosphere is proposed as a new technique to study the magnetosphere using panoramic soft X-ray imaging. To better prepare for the data analysis of upcoming magnetospheric soft X-ray imaging missions, this paper compares the magnetospheric SWCX emission obtained by two methods in an XMM-Newton observation, during which the solar wind changed dramatically. The two methods differ in the data used to fit the diffuse X-ray background(DXB)parameters in spectral analysis. The method adding data from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey(RASS)is called the RASS method. The method using the quiet observation data is called the Quiet method, where quiet observations usually refer to observations made by the same satellite with the same target but under weaker solar wind conditions. Results show that the spectral compositions of magnetospheric SWCX emission obtained by the two methods are very similar, and the changes in intensity over time are highly consistent, although the intensity obtained by the RASS method is about 2.68±0.56 keV cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1)higher than that obtained by the Quiet method.Since the DXB intensity obtained by the RASS method is about 2.84±0.74 keV cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1)lower than that obtained by the Quiet method, and the linear correlation coefficient between the difference of SWCX and DXB obtained by the two methods in diffe rent energy band is close to-1,the diffe rences in magnetospheric SWCX can be fully attributed to the diffe rences in the fitted DXB.The difference between the two methods is most significant when the energy is less than 0.7 keV,which is also the main energy band of SWCX emission. In addition, the difference between the two methods is not related to the SWCX intensity and,to some extent,to solar wind conditions, because SWCX intensity typically va ries with the solar wind.In summary, both methods are robust and reliable, and should be considered based on the best available options.
文摘Tunable Airy beams with controllable propagation trajectories have sparked interest in various fields, such as optical manipulation and laser fabrication.Existing research approaches encounter challenges related to insufficient compactness and integration feasibility,or they require enhanced tunability to enable real-time dynamic manipulation of the propagation trajectory. In this work,we present a novel method that utilizes a dual metasurface system to surpass these limitations, significantly enhancing the practical potential of the Airy beam. Our approach involves encoding a cubic phase profile and two off-axis Fresnel lens phase profiles across the two metasurfaces. The validity of the proposed strategy has been confirmed through simulation and experimental results. The proposed meta-device addresses the existing limitations and lays the foundation for broadening the applicability of Airy beams across diverse domains, encompassing light-sheet microscopy, laser fabrication, optical tweezers, etc.

文摘Accurate segmentation of oral surgery-related tissues from cone beam computed tomography(CBCT)images can significantly accelerate treatment planning and improve surgical accuracy. In this paper,we propose a fully automated tissue segmentation system for dental implant surgery.Specifically,we propose an image preprocessing method based on data distribution histograms, which can adaptively process CBCT images with different parameters.Based on this,we use the bone segmentation network to obtain the segmentation results of alveolar bone, teeth, and maxillary sinus. We use the tooth and mandibular regions as the ROI regions of tooth segmentation and mandibular nerve tube segmentation to achieve the corresponding tasks. The tooth segmentation results can obtain the order information of the dentition. The corresponding experimental results show that our method can achieve higher segmentation accuracy and efficiency compared to existing methods. Its average Dice scores on the tooth, alveolar bone, maxillary sinus, and mandibular canal segmentation tasks were 96.5%,95.4%,93.6%,and 94.8%,respectively.These results demonstrate that it can accelerate the development of digital dentistry.

文摘Variability in the location and shape of the dayside magnetopause is attributed to magnetic reconnection,a fundamental process that enables the transfer of mass, energy, and momentum from the solar wind into the magnetosphere. The spatial and temporal properties of the magnetopause, under varying solar and magnetospheric conditions, remain largely unknown because empirical studies using in-situ observations are challenging to interpret.Global wide field-of-view(FOV)imaging is the only means to simultaneously observe the spatial distribution of the plasma properties over the vast dayside magnetospheric region and, subsequently, quantify the energy transport from the interplanetary medium into the terrestrial magnetosphere. Two upcoming missions,ESA/CAS SMILE and NASA’s LEXI will provide wide-field imagery of the dayside magnetosheath in soft X-rays,an emission generated by charge exchange interactions between high charge-state heavy ions of solar wind origin and exospheric neutral atoms.High-cadence two-dimensional observations of the magnetosheath will allow the estimation of dynamic properties of its inner boundary, the magnetopause, and enable studies of its response to changes in the solar wind dynamic pressure and interplanetary magnetic field orientation. This work introduces a statistically-based estimation approach based on inverse theory to estimate the spatial distribution of magnetosheath soft X-ray emissivities and, with this, identify the location of the magnetopause over the Sun−Earth line.To do so,we simulate the magnetosheath structure using the MHD-based OpenGGCM model and generate synthetic soft X-ray images using LEXI’s orbit and attitude information. Our results show that 3-D estimations using the described statistically-based technique are robust against Poisson-distributed shot noise inherent to soft X-ray images. Also, our proposed methodology shows that the accuracy of both three-dimensional(3-D)estimation and the magnetopause standoff distance calculation highly depends on the observational point.
