While various quantification methods exist for assessing these distortions, they often fall short when evaluating actual geographic features. In our study, we took a novel approach by analyzing map projection distortion from a geometric perspective. We computed the fractal dimensions of different stretches of coastline before and after projection using the divide-and-conquer algorithm and image processing. Our findings revealed that map projections, even when preserving basic shapes, inevitably stretch and compress coastlines in diverse directions. This analysis method provides a more realistic and practical way to measure map-induced distortions, with significant implications for cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), and geomorphology. By bridging the gap between theoretical analysis and real-world features, this method greatly enhances accuracy and practicality when evaluating map projections.展开更多

The proposed method uses a subset of the original constraints and combines two algorithms: the weighted average and the cosine simplex algorithm. The first approach identifies binding constraints by using the weighted average of each constraint, whereas the second algorithm is based on the cosine similarity between the vector of the objective function and the constraints. These two approaches are complementary, and when used together, they locate the essential subset of initial constraints required for solving medium and large-scale linear programming problems. After reducing the dimension of the linear programming problem using the subset of the essential constraints, the solution method can be chosen from any suitable method for linear programming. The proposed approach was applied to a set of well-known benchmarks as well as more than 2000 random medium and large-scale linear programming problems. The results are promising, indicating that the new approach contributes to the reduction of both the size of the problems and the total number of iterations required. A tree-based classification model also confirmed the need for combining the two approaches. A detailed numerical example, the general numerical results, and the statistical analysis for the decision tree procedure are presented.展开更多

Wide tunability of electron density, high mobility of motion, and feasible controllability in microscales are the most prominent advantages that researchers strive for. Nevertheless, it is always difficult to fulfill all in one solid-state system. Two-dimensional electron systems(2DESs) floating above the superfluid helium surfaces are thought to meet these three requirements simultaneously, ensured by the atomic smoothness of surfaces and the electric neutrality of helium. Here we report our recent work in preparing, characterizing, and manipulating 2DESs on superfluid helium. We realized a tunability of electron density over one order of magnitude and tuned their transport properties by varying electron distribution and measurement frequency. The work we engage in is crucial for advancing research in many-body physics and for development of single-electron quantum devices rooted in these electron systems.展开更多

[1]. A novel method is used to reach a similar result for an arbitrary fractal function , where is the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral. Furthermore, a general resultis arrived at for 1-dimensional fractal functions such as with unbounded variation and(or) infinite lengths, which can infer all previous studies such as [2] [3]. This paper’s estimation reveals that the fractional integral does not increase the fractal dimension of f(x), i.e. fractional integration does not increase at least the fractal roughness. And the result has partly answered the fractal calculus conjecture and completely answered this conjecture for all 1-dimensional fractal function (Xiao has not answered). It is significant with a comparison to the past researches that the box dimension connection between a fractal function and its Riemann-Liouville integral has been carried out only for Weierstrass type and Besicovitch type functions, and at most Hlder continuous. Here the proof technique for Riemann-Liouville fractional integral is possibly of methodology to other fractional integrals.展开更多

文摘Electron systems in low dimensions are enriched with many superior properties for both fundamental research and technical developments. The work we engage in is crucial for advancing research in many-body physics and for development of single-electron quantum devices rooted in these electron systems.
文摘A novel computational reconstruction method called the Lucy–Richardson–Rosen algorithm(LRRA)for the construction of a single-shot infrared 3D imaging microscope was reported in Opto-Electronic Science. In that study,a commonly available optical element, the Cassegrain objective lens, was used as a coded aperture for 3D imaging using LRRA.Unlike regular coded aperture imaging systems, achieving 3D imaging using commonly available imaging devices leads to the development of hybrid imaging systems where direct and indirect imaging concepts coexist. The development above will make 3D imaging more commonly used in daily life.

文摘In this paper,we summarize and analyze the relevant research on the cash manage-ment problem appearing in the literature.First,we identify the main dimensions of the cash management problem.Next,we review the most relevant contributions in this field and present a multidimensional analysis of these contributions, according to the dimensions of the problem. From this analysis, several open research questions are highlighted.
文摘This paper discusses further the roughness of Riemann-Liouville fractional integral on an arbitrary fractal continuous functions that follows Rfs. Here the proof technique for Riemann-Liouville fractional integral is possibly of methodology to other fractional integrals.
文摘The Metric of a graph plays an essential role in the arrangement of different dimensional structures and finding their basis in various terms. The metric dimension of a graph is the selection of the minimum possible number of vertices so that each vertex of the graph is distinctively defined by its vector of distances to the set of selected vertices. This set of selected vertices is known as the metric basis of a graph. In applied mathematics or computer science, the topic of metric basis is considered as locating number or locating set,and it has applications in robot navigation and finding a beacon set of a computer network.Due to the vast applications of this concept in computer science, optimization problems, and also in chemistry enormous research has been conducted. To extend this research to a four-dimensional structure,we studied the metric basis of the Klein bottle and proved that the Klein bottle has a constant metric dimension for the variation of all its parameters.Although the metric basis is variying in 3 and 4 values when the values of its parameter change,it remains constant and unchanged concerning its order or number of vertices. The methodology of determining the metric basis or locating set is based on the distances of a graph. Therefore,we proved the main theorems in distance forms.
