A Study on German Translation Strategies of Culture-Loaded Words in Documentary Hexi Corridor(Expert)by Adaptation Theory

This paper deals with the translation strategies of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words from the perspective of adaptation theory.It is based on the translation text of the sixth episode“Silk Road”and the seventh episode“Dunhuang”of the documentary Hexi Corridor.Many words with Chinese cultural connotations appear in the subtitles of this documentary.This paper will be divided into four parts.The first part and the second part deal with the basic theories,i.e.,definition of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words and of adaptation theory.The original text is analysed in the third part.This part deals with the background and specifics of the language of the documentary film Hexi Corridor.The fourth part deals with the difficulties encountered by the author in translation practice and the corresponding solutions adopted by the author.The translation difficulties are solved by five translation methods,namely transliteration,loan translation,substitution,interpretation,and adaptation.

Adaptation of The Joy Luck Club: From a Feminist Text to a Cultural Film

What I am going to write about The Joy Luck Club is the adaptation from the text to a film. We know that Amy Tan is a woman, what she has written about in Joy Luck Club reflects more about feminism. And it is a female novel to some extent. The author writes many things from a woman's perspective. But when it was adapted to a film, the director Wayne Wang deemphasized this part, and attached more importance to the Chinese immigrants as a whole group. As a Chinese American male director, he presents the novel mainly in a man's perspective. In this process, the main theme changed greatly. The adaptation of The Joy Luck Club is actually an adaptation from a feminist text to a cultural film.

Prediction of film ratings based on domain adaptive transfer learning

This paper examines the prediction of film ratings.Firstly,in the data feature engineering,feature construction is performed based on the original features of the film dataset.Secondly,the clustering algorithm is utilized to remove singular film samples,and feature selections are carried out.When solving the problem that film samples of the target domain are unlabelled,it is impossible to train a model and address the inconsistency in the feature dimension for film samples from the source domain.Therefore,the domain adaptive transfer learning model combined with dimensionality reduction algorithms is adopted in this paper.At the same time,in order to reduce the prediction error of models,the stacking ensemble learning model for regression is also used.Finally,through comparative experiments,the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified,which proves to be better predicting film ratings in the target domain.

A stability analysis for the sheared oil film contained by the boom

According to the observation in experiment of stability of the oil film, the assumption of velocity distribution for both the water flow and the oil film is introduced. On the basis of the assumption, Orr-Sommerfeld stability equation is applied to develop the method of determining the critical velocity of the oil film, and the criterion for stability of the oil film is obtained. Meanwhile, a formula describing the relation between the thickness of the oil film and the velocity of the water flow is also given and examined by the laboratory experiment.

Is Tess a Pure Woman?-On the Failure of the Adaptation of the Movie Tess

Because of the great charm and social influence of the art of film, people regard the movie Tess is much more impressive than the original novel Tess of the D’Urbervilles. However, the character and image of Tess in the film have a considerable distance of the Tess described by Thomas Hardy. That unyielding Tess in original, who boldly resists bias and the injustice of fate, is gone and replaces it with a pathetic and vain girl who is too good near to be weak. This undoubtedly weakened the image of the artistic value of Tess and it has nothing in common with Hardy’s evaluation towards Tess—“a pure woman”. Therefore, in a sense, the adaptation of Tess is a failure.

On the Translation of Chinese Film Title from the Perspective of Conceptual Adaption Theory

As the rapid development of Internet, the film is an effective way to transmit Chinese culture through the language adaption. And the film title can catch people's eyes more quickly. Some scholars think that the translation of Chinese film titles should from the Functional Perspective. Some scholars think that it should do from the perspective of Skopos Theory. However, there are not enough scholars try to do it from the Perspective of the Contextual Adaption Theory. It is important to find an idea to translate the Chinese film titles to achieve that. So, this thesis try to find a effective way to translate the Chinese film titles. According to the contextual adaption theory, this thesis draws a conclusion that the translators can directly use the Chinese images in the film titles.

Light-stimulated adaptive artificial synapse based on nanocrystalline metal-oxide film

Artificial synapses utilizing spike signals are essential elements of new generation brain-inspired computers.In this paper,we realize light-stimulated adaptive artificial synapse based on nanocrystalline zinc oxide film.The artificial synapse photoconductivity shows spike-type signal response,long and short-term memory(LTM and STM),STM-to-LTM transition and paired-pulse facilitation.It is also retaining the memory of previous exposures and demonstrates spike-frequency adaptation properties.A way to implement neurons with synaptic depression,tonic excitation,and delayed accelerating types of response under the influence of repetitive light signals is discussed.The developed artificial synapse is able to become a key element of neuromorphic chips and neuromorphic sensorics systems.

Analysis and active control of low frequency booming noise in car

For Lightweight body,sound radiation and sound insulation performance have negative effects on interior noise by the deterioration of local stiffness and modality.So the research on the active control of vibration and noise for car body panels is useful for engineering.Analysis and active control of booming noise in car is researched by using a new active damping vibration reduction technology named smart constrained layer damping(SCLD).According to the vibration characters of body roof,an optimal placement of actuators is distributed.Based on dSPACE hardware in loop environment,an adaptive active control system is designed.Selecting vibration signals of engine mounting point as the reference input of adaptive controller,an active control experiment of booming noise for mini-car is carried out.Experimental results show that,when the engine speed is at 3700 RPM and4250RPM,the interior booming noise decreases 4.2dB(A),and 3.5dB(A) separately.It proposes new methods and techniques for intelligent control of car body NVH in the future.

Easy calibration method of vision system for in-situ measurement of strain of thin films

An easy calibration method was presented for in-situ measurement of displacement in the order of nanometer during micro-tensile test for thin films by using CCD camera as a sensing device. The calibration of the sensing camera in the system is a central element part to measure displacement in the order of nanometer using images taken with the camera. This was accomplished by modeling the optical projection through the camera lens and relative locations between the object and camera in 3D space. A set of known 3D points on a plane where the film is located on is projected to an image plane as input data. These points, known as a calibration points, are then used to estimate the projection parameters of the camera. In the measurement system of the micro-scale by CCD camera, the calibration data acquisition and one-to-one matching steps between the image and 3D planes need precise data extraction procedures and repetitive user's operation to calibrate the measuring devices. The lack of the robust image feature extraction and easy matching prevent the practical use of these methods. A data selection method was proposed to overcome these limitations and offer an easy and convenient calibration of a vision system that has the CCD camera and the 3D reference plane with calibration marks of circular type on the surface of the plane. The method minimizes the user's intervention such as the fine tuning of illumination system and provides an efficient calibration method of the vision system for in-situ axial displacement measurement of the micro-tensile materials.

一种利用自适应发射率模型补偿搅拌摩擦焊温度场的方法

针对目前搅拌摩擦焊温度场研究大多忽略热辐射作用或者采用固定发射率模型导致误差较大的问题,提出一种考虑粗糙表面的铝合金氧化膜生长过程的自适应发射率模型,对焊接温度场进行补偿研究。首先,考虑到搅拌摩擦焊过程中铝合金表面形貌的动态变化,采用二次曲面响应法确定焊接表面粗糙度及其与平均线单位长度平均值的交点数;随后,基于提出的自适应发射率,建立6061铝合金搅拌摩擦焊过程的完全耦合有限元模型进行数值模拟,并对模拟结果进行分析。结果表明:不同焊接条件下,基于自适应发射率模型所得结果与实验结果之间的最大绝对误差仅为11 K,表明采用自适应发射率的数值模型能够较好地再现焊接过程中的温度场,可为提高搅拌摩擦焊焊接质量提供支持。
