A Study on the Values and Strategies of English Picture Book Reading for Improving Pupils’ English Reading Literacy

Reading is one of the core skills in English learning.It is indispensable for EFL learners to develop good English reading literacy in primary schools.English picture books are consistent with pupils’cognitive and thinking modes,which is valuable to improve their English reading literacy.However,at present,most Chinese pupils have some problems in English reading.The paper aims at analyzing the current problems in Chinese pupils’English reading and digging out the values and strategies of English picture book reading,so as to stimulate their reading interests,cultivate their intercultural awareness,and improve their English reading literacy.

Correlations between Event-related Potentials with Pictures Recognition and WMS-RC Scores in Patients with Memory Disorder Caused by Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

This study explored the possibility of using event-related potentials （ERP） for the measurement of picture-recognition memory and examined its correlation with the Chinese Wechsler Memory Scale-revised （WMS-RC） in patients with memory disorder caused by severe traumatic brain injury （sTBI）. The subjects included 20 sTBI patients with memory disorder and 22 healthy individuals. Memory function was measured by using WMS-RC. Behavioral and ERP responses were recorded on-line during performance on a battery of picture recognition and the responses were analyzed off-line for recognition memory effects. Mean memory quotient （MQ） of patients with sTBI was significantly lower than that of the control group. Mean reaction time （RT） was significantly longer and the mean correctness rate （CR） of picture recognition was significantly lower in sTBI group than that of the controls. In controls, the main components of average ERP of picture recognition includes two positive-going waves, designated as P170 and P500, that appear 170 ms and 500 ms after stimulation when the subject could later successfully recall and recognize the pictures. P500 amplitude of target stimulus was significantly higher than that of non-target stimulus. Compared to controls, P500 responses of sTBI group were significantly delayed in latency （P〈0.001） and lower in amplitude （P〈0.001）. P500 latency showed significant negative correlation with MQ and the scores of ＂addition＂, ＂visual recognition＂, ＂picture recall＂, ＂visual reproduction＂ and ＂tactile memory＂ in WMS-RC. ERP of picture recognition provides a neurophysiological approach to directly assess memory impairment, and P500 may serve as a helpful index for memory disorder caused by sTBI in forensic practice.

Teaching College English with Poems

This paper has studied the feasibility of complementing English teaching with English poems. The author holds that poems are easy to recite because they are usually short, helpful to memory because they are rhythmic, beneficial to reinforcement because of their diversity, and they can be made to suit to special purposes such as the training of pronunciation, the development of vocabulary, the reinforcement of sentence patterns, and the strengthening of learning interest.

An Integrated Bipolar Picture Fuzzy Decision Driven System to Scrutinize Food Waste Treatment Technology through Assorted Factor Analysis

Food Waste(FW)is a pressing environmental concern that affects every country globally.About one-third of the food that is produced ends up as waste,contributing to the carbon footprint.Hence,the FW must be properly treated to reduce environmental pollution.This study evaluates a few available Food Waste Treatment(FWT)technologies,such as anaerobic digestion,composting,landfill,and incineration,which are widely used.A Bipolar Picture Fuzzy Set(BPFS)is proposed to deal with the ambiguity and uncertainty that arise when converting a real-world problem to a mathematical model.A novel Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation-Stable Preference Ordering Towards Ideal Solution(CRITIC-SPOTIS)approach is developed to objectively analyze FWT selection based on thirteen criteria covering the industry’s technical,environmental,and entrepreneurial aspects.The CRITIC method is used for the objective analysis of the importance of each criterion in FWT selection.The SPOTIS method is adopted to rank the alternative hassle-free,following the criteria.The proposed model offers a rank reversal-free model,i.e.,the rank of the alternatives remains unaffected even after the addition or removal of an alternative.In addition,comparative and sensitivity analyses are performed to ensure the reliability and robustness of the proposed model and to validate the proposed result.

The Limits of Cultural Translatability in Yang Xianyi’s Translation of Poems in A DRM

Poems are the products of national culture, and A Dream of Red Mansions (A DRM) is the collection of Chinese culture in the era when the novel was written, so poems in A DRM express a wealth of cultural messages. According to the Limits of Translatability raised by Catford in 1965, cultural untranslatability occurs when a relevant situational feature for the SL text is absent in the TL. So this paper aims to find problems of cultranslation of poems in A DRM, and tries to further restrict cultural untranslatability by applying compensation strategies.

亲子绘本阅读是构建书香社会、阅读家庭的重要媒介。文章运用CiteSpace6.2可视化分析软件,对中国知网(CNKI)数据库中2456篇关于亲子绘本阅读的文献进行分析,梳理近十五年我国亲子绘本阅读的研究脉络、热点及趋势。发现亲子绘本阅读研究的发文量呈现倒U型状态,研究机构以大学为主,核心作者群尚未形成,研究热点聚焦在绘本、亲子阅读、绘本阅读等领域,研究趋势从绘本本体研究转向绘本客体研究,并逐渐趋向社会人文和社会价值层面。未来亲子绘本阅读的研究路径在于:推动学术共同体发展,提高基础研究效能;重视跨学科研究范式,扩展问题多维向度;统合研究多重价值,注重服务实际需求。

The Brilliance of a Poet in Different Musical Works:Exploring the Poetry of Emily Dickinson

It is easy to see that many composers’success throughout Western music history is due to the perfect match between their songs and lyrics.This phenomenon is lateral evidence of the importance of beautiful poetry for composers.A good poem can provide different inspiration for many composers.In music and other artistic fields,creators have always faced the same dilemma:How do they highlight their creations in a blossoming body of work?How do they reform or innovate after peaking at a certain point in a field?In this paper,we will take a look at the poet Emily Dickinson and four songs based on her poetry,examining how different composers bring out the unique beauty of her works.

Floyd-Warshall Algorithm Based on Picture Fuzzy Information

The Floyd-Warshall algorithm is frequently used to determine the shortest path between any pair of nodes.It works well for crisp weights,but the problem arises when weights are vague and uncertain.Let us take an example of computer networks,where the chosen path might no longer be appropriate due to rapid changes in network conditions.The optimal path from among all possible courses is chosen in computer networks based on a variety of parameters.In this paper,we design a new variant of the Floyd-Warshall algorithm that identifies an All-Pair Shortest Path(APSP)in an uncertain situation of a network.In the proposed methodology,multiple criteria and theirmutual associationmay involve the selection of any suitable path between any two node points,and the values of these criteria may change due to an uncertain environment.We use trapezoidal picture fuzzy addition,score,and accuracy functions to find APSP.We compute the time complexity of this algorithm and contrast it with the traditional Floyd-Warshall algorithm and fuzzy Floyd-Warshall algorithm.

Not one thing at a time:When concomitant multiple stressors produce a transdiagnostic clinical picture

A condition of exposure to multiple stressors resulting in a mixed clinical picture spanning conventional categories without meeting any of them in full,encompasses a risk for a list of comorbidities preventing appropriate prevention and treatment.New transformative transdiagnostic approaches suggest changes spanning conventional categories.They base their systems of classification on biomarkers as well as on brain structural and functional dysregulation as associated with behavioral and emotional symptoms.These new approaches received critiques for not being specific enough and for suggesting a few biomarkers for psychopathology as a whole.Therefore,they put the value of differential diagnosis at risk of avoiding appropriate derived prevention and treatment.Multiplicity of stressors has been considered mostly during and following catastrophes,without considering the resulting mixed clinical picture and life event concomitant stressors.We herewith suggest a new category within the conventional classification systems:The Complex Stress Reaction Syndrome,for a condition of multiplicity of stressors,which showed a mixed clinical picture for daily life in the post coronavirus disease 2019 era,in the general population.We argue that this condition may be relevant to daily,regular life,across the lifespan,and beyond conditions of catastrophes.We further argue that this condition may worsen without professional care and it may develop into a severe mental health disorder,more costly to health systems and the suffering individuals.Means for derived prevention and treatment are discussed.

From Pre-Qin to Late Tang Dynasty:A Study on“Social Behaviour”in Chinese Traditional Poetry Culture

Banquet poems have achieved great success in the development of Chinese literature,in which people usually express their observations and feelings at banquets through poetic forms.The social behaviours reflected in banquet poems have different characteristics in different times.In the Pre-Qin period,banquets were aimed at promoting“rituals”as social purposes,emphasising moral education.During the Wei and Jin dynasties,banquets were divided into two types:public banquets and private banquets.Public banquets were important social occasions but had a tendency towards extravagance and waste,while private banquets were more casual and had rich and interesting content.In the Tang Dynasty,with the development of the imperial examination system,the Jinshi banquet gradually became popular,and the themes of banquet poems further expanded.Banquet poems from different periods can indirectly reflect the changes and development of traditional Chinese social behaviours.

Oxbridge Pictures in Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own

A Room of One’s Own is a masterpiece by Virginia Woolf, which describes her understanding of literary creation and the issue of women and fiction. The content of this book is based on Woolf’s two speeches at Cambridge, with the theme of “Women and fiction.” Through the analysis of the history and current situation of female literary creation, the paper points out that women should have the courage and right to fight for independent economic power and social status. “Oxbridge” is a combined term of Oxford and Cambridge, and Oxbridge pictures dominate the first chapter of A Room of One’s Own, which are the focus of this paper. Through a detailed analysis of the different indoor and outdoor pictures of Oxbridge, including nature, landscape, humanistic architecture and the “pictures” imagined in the narrator’s mind, this paper discusses the existence of Victorian women and Woolf’s feminist thoughts so as to provide possible implications for the social survival of contemporary women. The study is also concerned with Woolf’s Eco-feminism, stream of consciousness and other artistic skills.

Interoperative fundus image and report sharing in compliance with integrating the healthcare enterprise conformance and web access to digital imaging and communication in medicine persistent object protocol

AIM:To address issues in interoperability between different fundus image systems,we proposed a web eyepicture archiving and communication system(PACS)framework in conformance with digital imaging and communication in medicine(DICOM)and health level 7(HL7)protocol to realize fundus images and reports sharing and communication through internet.METHODS:Firstly,a telemedicine-based eye care work flow was established based on integrating the healthcare enterprise(IHE)Eye Care technical framework.Then,a browser/server architecture eye-PACS system was established in conformance with the web access to DICOM persistent object(WADO)protocol,which contains three tiers.RESULTS:In any client system installed with web browser,clinicians could log in the eye-PACS to observe fundus images and reports.Multipurpose internet mail extensions(MIME)type of a structured report is saved as pdf/html with reference link to relevant fundus image using the WADO syntax could provide enough information for clinicians.Some functions provided by open-source Oviyam could be used to query,zoom,move,measure,view OICOM fundus images.CONCLUSION:Such web eye-PACS in compliance to WADO protocol could be used to store and communicate fundus images and reports,therefore is of great significance for teleophthalmology.

The Scanning Characteristics of Spatial and Temporal Dynamic Pictures of the Seismicity in the South Yellow Sea and Its Coast Region

On the basis of the viewpoint of preparation of strong earthquakes in group, the spatial andtemporal scanning characteristics of the seismicity in the South Yellow Sea and its coast regionare studied, and some problems regarding the prediction of seismic hazard are also discussed.The results show that the seismic activity of M=4. 0 earthquakes has overall presented arelative stable state, but the partially concentrated area wbich evolves and migrates and theanomalous low b-value area have appeared in different periods, and the moderately strongearthquakes with M=5. 0～6. 0 have taken place on the edge of the anomalous area. Theaccumulative frequency of M=4. 0 earthquakes in the anomalous area presents non-linearindex acceleration and the moderately strong earthquakes have appeared in the late period ofthe non-linear index acceleration of M=4. 0 earthquakes or in the later anomalous tranquilperiotl.
