The performance of the modified PSO algorithm and geneti...We demonstrate a modified particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm to effectively shape the incident light with strong robustness and short optimization time. The performance of the modified PSO algorithm and genetic algorithm(GA) is numerically simulated. Then, using a high speed digital micromirror device, we carry out light focusing experiments with the modified PSO algorithm and GA. The experimental results show that the modified PSO algorithm has greater robustness and faster convergence speed than GA. This modified PSO algorithm has great application prospects in optical focusing and imaging inside in vivo biological tissue, which possesses a complicated background.展开更多

The beam e...We consider the radiation from the beam electrons traveling in a strong uniform axial magnetic field and an axial alternating electric field of wavelength Aw generated by a voltage-supplied pill-box cavity. The beam electrons emit genuine laser radiation that propagates only in the axial direction through free-electron two- quantum Stark radiation. We find that laser radiation takes place only at the expense of the axial kinetic energy when Aw 〈〈 c/(ωc/γ), where ωc/γ is the relativistic electron--cyclotron frequency. We formulate the laser power based on quantum-wiggler electrodynamics, and envision a laser of length lore with estimated power 0.1 GW/(kA) in the 10-4 cm wavelength range.展开更多

If taking the maximum value of the second order susceptibility X(2), the growth rate may be decreased observably when Io > 10_^(14)W/cm2. The emission spectra of KaGd(PO4)2:Tb3+ exhibit the typical emissions of Tb3+. Concentration quenching of Tb3+ is not observed in KaGd(PO4)2:Tb3+, likely because the shortest average distance of Tb3+-Tb3+ in KaGd(POn)2:Tb3+ is adequately long such that energy transfer between Tb3+-Tb3+ ions cannot take place effectively. This re- sult indicates that KaTb(P04)2 phosphors have potential application in near ultraviolet (n-UV)-convertible phosphors for white light-emitting diodes.展开更多
