A new academic impact metric for evaluating geographic simulation models

Geographic simulation models can be used to explore and better understand the geographical environment. Recent advances in geographic and socio-environmental research have led to a dramatic increase in the number of models used for this purpose. Some model repositories provide opportunities for users to explore and apply models,but few provide a general evaluation method for assessing the applicability and recognition of models. In this study,an academic impact evaluation method for models is proposed. Five indices are designed based on their pertinence. The analytical hierarchy process is used to calculate the index weights,and the academic impacts of models are quantified with the weighted sum method. The time range is controlled to evaluate the life-term and annual academic impacts of the models. Some models that met the evaluation criteria from different domains are then evaluated. The results show that the academic impact of a model can be quantified with the proposed method,and the major research areas that models impact are identified.

Analysis on the Reasons of Academic Burnout Among Chinese Adolescents(Revised)

Scholars have studied academic burnout and found that it negatively impacts students’mental health.The purpose of this paper is to explore the causes of academic burnout from both internal and external perspectives.Internal reasons include:the effect of perfectionism,individual mindfulness,and achievement goals hold by the students during their academic life.The external factors include parenting styles and the school environment.This paper concludes with suggestions to prevent academic burnout for future researchers and educators.

The international impact of Chinese academic journals revealed by the “Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals”

CNKI has published the ＂Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals＂ since 2012. In the past three years, it has provided comprehensive data on the international impact of Chinese academic journals. Using the clout index （CI） to rank the Chinese academic journals, ＂the Highest International Impact Academic Journals of China＂ and ＂ the Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China＂ are announced every year. By introducing the rating criteria of the ＂Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals＂, the characteristics of high impact journals are discussed. Especially, the status of the pharmaceutical journals is discussed. We found that there are increasing numbers of Chinese journals that are included in the SCI, and some of them are high impact journals. However, journals published in Chinese are still facing difficulties to be included in SCI, even though they show higher impact than journals published in other non-English languages. The Chinese Pharmaceutical journals need to enhance their international impact, but Journals on Chinese Medicine show high impact.
