The AIF achieves better RD performance than common static interpolation filtering by exploiting the statistics in the reference frames' local auto-correlation and the local cross-correlation between the current encoding frame and the reference frames. This paper presents an interpolation filter buffering structure that derives the current en- coding frame's interpolation filters from the filters of previous frames. The number of encoding bits for the filter coefficients is reduced by encoding only the differences between the current filter coefficients and the corresponding buffered filter coefficients. Experimental results show that in comparison with the AIF in the current "key technical area" (KTA) reference software, this interpolation filter buffering structure further improves all the test sequences (with up to 2.87% bit rate saving) with negligible computational increase.展开更多

An adaptive parametric curve interpolator with a real-time look-ahead function was developed for non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) curves interpolation, which considering the maximum acceleration/deceleration of the machine tool. In order to deal with the acceleration/deceleration around the feedrate sensitive corners, the look-ahead function was designed and illustrated. It can detect and adjust the feedrate adaptively. With the help of real-time look-ahead, the acceleration/deceleration can be limited to the range of the machine tool capacity. Thus, feedrate fluctuation is reduced. A NURBS curve interpolation experiment was provided to verify the feasibility and advantages of the proposed interpolator with a real-time look-ahead function.展开更多

In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive image zooming algorithm using weighted least-square estimation that can achieve arbitrary integer-ratio zoom (WLS-AIZ) For a given zooming ratio n, every pixel in a low-resolution (LR) image is associated with an n x n block of high-resolution (HR) pixels in the HR image. In WLS-AIZ, the LR image is interpolated using the bilinear method in advance. Model parameters of every n×n block are worked out through weighted least-square estimation. Subsequently, each pixel in the n × n block is substituted by a combination of its eight neighboring HR pixels using estimated parameters. Finally, a refinement strategy is adopted to obtain the ultimate HR pixel values. The proposed algorithm has significant adaptability to local image structure. Extensive experiments comparing WLS-AIZ with other state of the art image zooming methods demonstrate the superiority of WLS-AIZ. In terms of peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index (SSIM) and feature similarity index (FSIM), WLS-AIZ produces better results than all other image integer-ratio zoom algorithms.展开更多
