New health education methods were used, and patient parameters were evaluated before and after the intervention. Results: Evaluation of medication, reasonable diet, regular exercise, blood glucose monitoring, and regular follow-up compliance were significantly improved in the experimental group compared to the control group(P<0.05). There were also significant differences between groups in fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein, and low-density lipoprotein levels(P < 0.05); however, the differences between groups in terms of glycosylated hemoglobin and total cholesterol levels were not statistically significant(P > 0.05). Finally, the functional recovery and mental health of the experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group(P < 0.05).Conclusions: The implementation of a menu of voluntary services in community-based continuous nursing provided standardized nursing care for elderly patients with fracture and diabetes mellitus and improved their quality of life.展开更多

This Frontier article summarizes whatwe have learned and reflects on future perspectives in this important area. Our recently published systematic review has shown that ATLS training is very useful from an educational point view. It significantly increased knowledge, and improved practical skills and the critical decision making process in managing multiple trauma patients. These positive changes were evident in a wide range of learners including undergraduate medical students and postgraduate residents from different subspecialties. In contrast, clear evidence that ATLS training reduces trauma death is lacking. It is obvious that it is almost impossible to perform randomized controlled trials to study the effect of ATLS courses on trauma mortality. Studying factors predicting trauma mortality is a very complex issue. Accordingly, trauma mortality does not depend solely on ATLS training but on other important factors, like presence of well-developed trauma systems including advanced pre-hospital care. We think that the way to answer whether ATLS training improves survival is to perform large prospective cohort studies of high quality data and use advanced statistical modelling.展开更多

Methods: Thirty-nine 4th-year medical students and 48 2nd-year nursing students were enrolled and distributed to the educational intervention group and the control group. We used a vocation identity scale including lower four subscales, a scale for professionalism including lower five subscales, a readiness for inter-professional learning scale (RIPLS), and an interdisciplinary education perception scale (IEPS). Results: Among the medical students, IPE using an advanced patient simulator improved the scores on the vocational identity scale, scale for professionalism, RIPLS, and IEPS. Among the nursing students, IPE improved the scores on the vocational identity scale, scale for professionalism, RIPLS, and IEPS. Conclusion: On-the-job training using simulated clinical training by a multi-occupational team improved vocational identification and professionalism.展开更多

The respondents of the study were the 40 second year BSMT students that were taken through purposive sampling. The study utilized a researcher-made questionnaire for both knowledge and skills that had undergone validity and reliability-testing. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data such as mean, standard deviation, and Spearman’s rho. Results revealed that their knowledge on Advanced Swimming and Life-saving Techniques was “Fair” while the skills of the second year BSMT students were “Very good”. Furthermore, the knowledge of the BSMT students had a positive correlation (substantial) with their skills on Advanced Swimming and Life-saving Techniques. The second year BSMT students are encouraged to undergo trainings and upgrading to enhance their knowledge and skills in Advanced Swimming and Life-saving Techniques in order for them to become life-long learners.展开更多
