On Affectionate Respect in Gender Justice： An Inquiry into the Cultural Abuse of Sex

Phallogocentrism as cultural abuse of sex is a difficult issue that has been addressed by many modem Western feminist philosophers. By comparing their insights with those deriving from Chinese Confucianism and Daoism, I propose the concept of ＂affectionate respect＂ as an intellectual counterbalance to phallogocentrism. In this essay, I have discussed certain arbitrary fallacies based on masculine predominance and spotlighted the merits of being female in balancing emotion and reason, justice and fairness, and institutionally-biased powers and the human rights of innate dignity. To achieve gender justice and equality before God and under Heaven must be logically and morally extended to law and politics.

Low risk of postoperative ulnar nerve affection in surgically treated distal humeral fractures when the nerve is released in situ

BACKGROUND Adult distal humeral fractures(DHF)comprise 2%-5%of all fractures and 30%of all elbow fractures.Treatment of DHF may be technically demanding due to fracture complexity and proximity of neurovascular structures.Open reduction and internal fixation(ORIF)are often the treatment of choice,but arthroplasty is considered in case of severe comminution or in elderly patients with poor bone quality.Ulnar nerve affection following surgical treatment of distal humerus fractures is a well-recognized complication.AIM To report the risk of ulnar nerve affection after surgery for acute DHFs.METHODS We retrospectively identified 239 consecutive adult patients with acute DHFs who underwent surgery with ORIF,elbow hemiarthroplasty(EHA)or total elbow arthroplasty(TEA)between January 2011 and December 2019.In all cases,the ulnar nerve was released in situ without anterior transposition.We used our institutional database to review patients’medical records for demographics,fracture morphology,type of surgery and ulnar nerve affection immediately;records were reviewed after surgery and at 2 wk and 12 wk of routine clinical outpatient follow-up.Twenty-nine percent patients were excluded due to pre-or postoperative conditions.Final follow-up examination was a telephone interview in which ulnar nerve affection was reported according to the McGowen Classification Score.A total of 210 patients were eligible for interview,but 13 patients declined participation and 17 patients failed to respond.Thus,180 patients were included.RESULTS Mean age at surgery was 64 years(range 18-88 years);121(67.3%)patients were women;59(32.7%)were men.According to the AO/OTA classification system,we recorded 47 patients with type A3,55 patients with type B and 78 patients with type C fractures.According to the McGowen Classification Score,mild ulnar nerve affection was reported in nine patients;severe affection,in two.A total of 69 patients were treated with ORIF of whom three had mild temporary ulnar nerve affection and one had severe ulnar nerve affection.In all,111 patients were treated with arthroplasty(67 EHA,44 TEA)of whom seven had mild ulnar nerve affection and one had severe persistent ulnar nerve affection.No further treatment was provided.CONCLUSION The risk of ulnar nerve affection after surgical treatment for acute DHF is low when the ulnar nerve is released in situ without nerve transposition,independently of the treatment provided.

Right Ventricular Dysfunction in Patients with Acute STEMI, Radionuclide-Based Assessment

Background: An acute myocardial infarction, particularly one that is large and transmural, can produce alterations in the topography of both the infarcted and noninfarcted regions of the ventricle. Cardiac remodeling after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is characterized by molecular and cellular mechanisms involving both left and right ventricles. Objective: To study the right ventricular affection in patients with acute myocardial infarction of the left ventricle and treated with primary PCI. Methods: The study was done in the critical care department, Cairo University (in which 2,500 primary percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) are done annually). Forty patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) were subjected to primary (PCI), we excluded all patients with RV infarction and patients with pulmonary hypertension. RV function was assessed by first pass radionuclide angiocardiography within 48 hours of admission. Results: Regarding the incidence of right ventricular dysfunction in patients with acute left ventricular STEMI who treated with 1ry PCI, there were 21 patients (52.5%) with RV EF% patients (47.5%) with RV time to peak filling rate (TPFR) > 180 msec. There was a significant relationship between right ventricular dysfunction and duration of ICU stay, impairment of LV systolic function, failure of complete resolution of ST segment elevation, failure of early peaking of cardiac enzymes, occurrence of in-hospital complications and one year mortality. Conclusion: The incidence of right ventricular dysfunction in patients with acute left ventricular STEMI is higher than expected and has a negative impact on their outcome.

Correlation between Depth of Myometrial Invasion and Degree of Lymph Node Affection in Cases of Endometrial Cancer

Introduction: Endometrial cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in females. Many factors can affect prognosis of this type of cancer, these mainly are the degree of myometrial invasion by the tumour, pelvic and paraaortic lymph node spread as well as the tumour histological type (endometrioid vs non-endometrioid type). transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) is a highly accurate and easy method for preoperative evaluation of myometrial invasion. Aim of the Work: The aim of this work is to assess if there is relation between the depth of myometrial invasion by the tumor and the rate of lymph node involvement in cases of endometrial cancer. Results: It was found that there was a significant relation between lymph node affection and the depth of myometrial invasion, all the positive lymph node affections cases had myomterial invasion > 50.0%. Conclusion: The incidence of pelvic lymph node affection is very high in cases where the myometrium is deeply infiltrated with the tumor. Assessment of myometrial invasion preoperatively by TVU and microscopically by pathological examination of the myometrium after hysterectomy provides an accurate estimation of the rate of pelvic lymph node affection and hence necessitates lymphadenectomy procedures in cases where myometrium is deeply infiltrated by the tumor and omitted in cases where it is tumor free.

The Life Course of a Long-Lasting Affection Medium:A Fieldwork Based on the Communication Practice of the Rural Loudspeakers in North China

The loudspeakers played a crucial role in rural community during the COVID-19 pandemic,and had returned to the public with the help of short video platforms.However,with the continued popularity of digital media,is the revival of the loudspeakers which belong to traditional media just a flash in the pan?What the historic process of return has the loudspeakers undergone?Based on these questions,the paper applies Bourdieu’s sense of practice theory,focuses on“habit”throughout,adopts the research methods of online ethnography and fieldwork,and conducts participant observation and targeted in-depth interviews in a village in North China for about nine months.The study found that:(1)There is the lag of habit in the state’s handling of social relations in villages.Based on rational habit,village cadres used the loudspeakers to manifest their physical presence and restructure their authority;the villagers,operating under perceptual habit,rationalized the presence of the loudspeakers through using the key words such as elders,nostalgia,and homesickness;(2)the loudspeakers was maintained under the habit of village cadres and ordinary villagers,and the outbreak of the epidemic made the loudspeakers as an habit truly“appearing”;(3)the young village cadres,on the other hand,acquired this habit through imitation,transposed the loudspeakers into the short video platform,and carried out different forms of experimentation and innovation,thus surpassing the previous forms of loudspeakers practice.The return of the loudspeakers is the result of the game of different habits.As a long-lasting affection medium,the loudspeakers,on the one hand,has become an important media scene and memory field indispensable to rural community,and on the other hand,the people living on this land have a deep attachment to the loudspeakers,which is indirectly transformed into the bearer of homesickness.This brings new inspiration for us to rethink the relationship between the traditional media and the new media,the iteration of cadres and the change of rural community.

The emotional structuring of the Andean territory: Mapping embodied narratives in Coporaque, Peru

This research explores the subject of territory,understood based on the life world of Andean inhabitants of the Colca Valley(Arequipa,Peru),who are descendants of ancient local Indigenous groups that,since prehistoric times,have known how to adapt to the rugged geographical reality of the Andes.Through a phenomenological approach,which assesses the subjective experience,it was possible to corroborate the existence of routine patterns of spatiality that preserve the emotional essence of past territorial conceptions,which have prevailed despite the hegemonic impositions systematically forced upon the land ever since the Spanish conquest in the 16th century.Through carrying out coexistence fieldwork in situ,five layers of territorial sense have been registered,which,besides being very useful in order to optimize and give coherence to their agricultural and animal husbandry tasks,are periodically represented through verbal and corporal narratives,which have been mapped in this work in order to make their dynamics of symbolization visible and to conclude in the existence of an emotional Andean territory.

Artificial intelligence empowering research on loneliness, depression and anxiety-Using Covid-19 as an opportunity

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on public mental health,leading to a surge in loneliness,depression,and anxiety.And these public psychological issues increasingly become a factor affecting social order.As researchers explore ways to address these issues,artificial intelligence(AI)has emerged as a powerful tool for understanding and supporting mental health.In this paper,we provide a thorough literature review on the emotions(EMO)of loneliness,depression,and anxiety(EMO-LDA)before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.Additionally,we evaluate the application of AI in EMO-LDA research from 2018 to 2023(AI-LDA)using Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA)topic modeling.Our analysis reveals a significant increase in the proportion of literature on EMO-LDA and AI-LDA before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.We also observe changes in research hotspots and trends in both field.Moreover,our results suggest that the collaborative research of EMO-LDA and AI-LDA is a promising direction for future research.In conclusion,our review highlights the urgent need for effective interventions to address the mental health challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.Our findings suggest that the integration of AI in EMO-LDA research has the potential to provide new insights and solutions to support individuals facing loneliness,depression,and anxiety.And we hope that our study will inspire further research in this vital and revelant domin.

International public opinion analysis of four olympic games:From 2008 to 2022

Since the rapid spread of the COVID-19 worldwide,the pandemic has led to a huge impact on global sporting events.As a major international event,the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has commonalities with the 2008 Beijing Olympics,the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics,and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in terms of international public opinion context and epidemiological background.In this study,over 1 million pieces of UGC(User Generated Contents)in Chinese and English languages were obtained from social media platforms such as Twitter,YouTube,as well as traditional mass media in various countries to compare the differences between the two languages in international public opinion.Using sentiment analysis,this study explores the evolution of international public opinion topics and sentiment differences among the above four Olympic Games.The analysis results show that:1)regardless of traditional mass media or online social media,there is a more obvious tendency of general politicization in the topics of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics,and extreme emotional remarks of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics are more frequent;2)in the topic of political opinion involving China,international Chinese public opinion presents more negative sentiment than those in English;3)Among the topics involving COVID-19,the negative level of public opinion in Chinese and English is opposite for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics;4)International public opinion on the topic of sports events is significantly more positive in Chinese than in English;5)YouTube’s Chinese opinion environment is better than English.
