The samples were developed through a sand casting process and machined into tensile and impact test samples before carrying out solution heat treatment at 550?C (0.83 Tm) on two parts of the samples while retaining one part as the control. The two parts were further divided into sets denoted A and B and were aged at 180?C (0.27 Tm) and 160?C (0.24 Tm), respectively, for 12 hours. The results showed that sample A has the optimal yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of 192 and 206 MPa, respectively. Likewise, the sample gave the highest impact strength value of about 9.63 J/mm2. The observed results were supported by the optical micrograph, which revealed that the sample has evenly dispersed precipitates in its microstructure. This is deemed responsible for the observed increase in strength of the sample.展开更多

The specimens were thermal stabilized for different time (t) and directionally solidified at a constant growth rate of 30 μm/s and temperature gradient of 20 K/mm. Dependencies of the primary dendritic spacing (λ1), secondary dendritic spacing (λ2), interlamellar spacing (λL) and microhardness (HV) on holding time were determined. The values of the λ1, λ2 and λL increase with the increase of t, and the value of HV decreases with the increase of t. The increase of t is helpful to obtain a good directional solidification structure. However, it reduces the mechanical property of the directionally solidified TiAl alloy. The results show that mixed grain structure is caused by the micro-segregation of Al in semi-continuous casting ingot. Homogenization of(380 °C, 8 h) +(410 °C, 12 h) cannot totally eliminate such micro-segregation. During MDF and extrusion, the dendrite interiors with 3%-4% Al(mass fraction) transform to fine grain zones, yet the dendrite edges with about 6% Al transform to coarse grain zones. Various microstructural analyses were performed using optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The recycled specimens consist of fine grains due to dynamic recrystallization and the interfaces of original individual scraps are not identified. Tensile tests were performed at a strain rate of 5 x 10 3 s 1 at room temperature (27 ~C), -70, -100 and 130 ~C, respectively. Ultimate tensile strength of the specimens increases slightly with decreasing the tensile temperature, and elongation to failure decreases with decreasing the tensile temperature. The tensile specimens at -130 ~C show the highest ultimate tensile strength of 360.65 MPa and the lowest elongation to failure of 5.46%. Impact tests were performed at room temperature (27 ~C), -70 and -130 ~C, respectively. Impact toughness decreases with decreasing the impact temperature. The impact specimens at -130 ~C show the lowest impact toughness of 3.06 J/cm2.展开更多

Meanwhile, the tensile mechanical property was tested. With increasing the Gd content, as-cast microstructure is refined gradually. Mg-Zn-Gd new phase increases gradually, while MgZn2 phase decreases gradually to disappear. The second phase tends to distribute along grain boundary by continuous network. As-cast tensile mechanical property is reduced slightly at ambient temperature when the Gd content does not exceed 2.98%. After extrusion by extrusion ratio of 40 and extrusion temperature of 593 K, microstructure is refined further with decreasing the average grain size to 2 μm for ZK60-2.98Gd alloy. Broken second phase distributes along the extrusion direction by zonal shape. Extruded tensile mechanical property is enhanced significantly. Tensile strength values at 298 and 473 K increase gradually from 355 and 120 MPa for ZK60 alloy to 380 and 164 MPa for ZK60-2.98Gd alloy, respectively. Extruded tensile fractures exhibit a typical character of ductile fracture.展开更多

Results showed that the T6 alloy has the lowest strength and the worst IGC resistance, while the T6I6 alloy has higher strength and better IGC resistance. What’ s more, the alloy treated by pre-rolling deformation has higher strength and better IGC resistance;and the alloy treated by the pre-asymmetry rolling achieves the highest strength, the best IGC resistance and lower elongation. The mechanical properties depend on microstructures such as the grain size, texture, dislocation density and precipitation, the grain boundary misorientation and grain boundary microstructure are responsible for the IGC resistance.展开更多

The results showed that,...Thermal stabilities of microstructure and mechanical property have been investigated on superalloy U720Li, which is of great interest of application for jet engine and land-based turbine disc. The results showed that, the primary and secondary gamma' particles maintain good thermal stability at 650 and 700 degreesC with aging time up to 3000 h, while the tertiary gamma' is apparently dependent on aging temperature and time. The tertiary gamma' particles undergo a procedure of coarsening, dissolution and eventually complete disappearance with the increasing of aging time and temperature. They exhibit unusual high sensibility upon aging temperature, which is attributed to the lattice misfit between the gamma' precipitates and the matrix in the alloy. The grain boundary phase M23C6 remains stable without forming of sigma phase even with aging time up to 3000 h at 700 degreesC. Microhardness decreases apparently with increasing aging time and aging temperature. Theoretical analysis based on dislocation mechanism indicates that the change of microhardness should be attributed to the evolution of the tertiary gamma' during aging.展开更多

The changes of morphology, size and distribution of MgZn_(2)precipitate with ageing temperature and time were revealed by optical and electron microscopy. Intergranular corrosion(IGC) and exfoliation corrosion(EXCO) tests were carried out to assess the changes in corrosion susceptibility of the tempered alloy, and some white spots on the surface of the sample aged for longer time were found to be precursors of pits. Electrochemical cyclic polarization test depicted the corrosion behavior under different tempers. Ageing influences on the mechanical behaviors of the alloy were revealed by evaluating its microhardness and tensile strength. The microscopic features of the strengthening phases determined by the ageing procedure directly affect the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the alloy.展开更多

Compared with the alloys prepared by casting and rapid solidification, the modulation structure developed during ageing process of those prepared by mechanical alloying is finer and much more uniform, which leads to a higher peak hardness. However, their spinodal decomposition temperature are almost the same. Cold deformation prior to ageing not only accelerates the ageing process but also increases the peak hardness of the alloy.展开更多

Accelerated ageing tests including water stability test, temperature and humidity cycling test, soundness test and alkali resistance test are conducted with the objective to further research the property changes of CGN-(F+S) grout. Density, surface hardness, water penetration capacity, water permeability capacity, soluble salt, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) spectrum of these samples have been tested after accelerated ageing tests. The results show that densities of samples decrease, surface hardness, water penetration capacity and water permeability capacity of samples increase generally. Besides, soluble salt analysis, SEM and EDS results well corroborate the changes. Based on the results it can be concluded that property changes are most serious after temperature and humidity cycling test, followed by water stability, soundness and alkali resistance test in sequence. But in general, CGN-(F+S) still has good durability.展开更多

The microstructural changes of the powders in mechanical milling (MM) and consolidation process were characterized by X-ray diffraction analyses and transmission electron microscopy observations. The results showed that mechanical milling reduced the grain size to nanometer, dissolved the Al2Cu intermetallic compound into the aluminium matrix and produced an aluminium supersaturated solid solution. During consolidation process. the grain size increased to submicrometer, and the Al2Cu and Al2(Cu, Mg, Si, Fe, Mn) compounds precipitated owing to heating. Increasing consolidation temperature and time results in obvious grain growth and coarsening of second phase particles. The tensile yield strength of the consolidated alloy with submicrometer size grains increases with decreasing grain size, and it follows the famous HallPetch relation展开更多

The impact specimens at -130 ~C show the lowest impact toughness of 3.06 J/cm2.

文摘Microstructures and phase compositions of as-cast and extruded ZK60-xGd (x=0-4) alloys were investigated. Extruded tensile fractures exhibit a typical character of ductile fracture.

文摘Effects of interrupted ageing(T6I6) and asymmetric rolling on microstructures, mechanical properties, and intergranular corrosion(IGC) behaviors of Al-Mg-Si-Zn alloy were investigated. The mechanical properties depend on microstructures such as the grain size, texture, dislocation density and precipitation, the grain boundary misorientation and grain boundary microstructure are responsible for the IGC resistance.

文摘The effect of Li(2.0 wt%)addition on mechanical properties and ageing precipitation behavior of Al-3.0 Mg 0.5 Si was investigated by tensile test, dynamic elasticity modulus test, scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM)images. The results show that the tensile strength of the Li-containing alloy can be significantly improved;however, the ductility is sharply decreased and the fracture mechanism changes from ductile fracture to intergranular fracture. The elasticity modulus of the Li-containing alloy increases by 11.6%compared with the base alloy. The microstructure observation shows that the Li addition can absolutely change the precipitation behavior of the base alloy,andδ′-Al_(3)Li phase becomes the main precipitates.Besides,β′′-Mg_(2)Si andδ′-Al_(3)Li dual phases precipitation can be visibly observed at 170℃ ageing for 100 h,although the quantity ofδ′-Al_(3)Li phase is more thanβ′′-Mg_(2)Si phase. The width of the precipitate-free zone(PFZ)of the Li-containing alloy is much wider at the over-ageing state than the base alloy, which has a negative impact on the ductile and results in the decrease of elongation.
文摘Thermal stabilities of microstructure and mechanical property have been investigated on superalloy U720Li, which is of great interest of application for jet engine and land-based turbine disc. Theoretical analysis based on dislocation mechanism indicates that the change of microhardness should be attributed to the evolution of the tertiary gamma' during aging.

文摘The influence of different ageing processes on the microstructure, corrosion behaviors and mechanical properties of extruded Al-5.6Zn-1.6Mg-0.05Zr(wt.%) alloy was studied in this work. The microscopic features of the strengthening phases determined by the ageing procedure directly affect the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the alloy.
文摘The ageing behavior of the mechanically alloyed Cu-15Ni-8Sn alloy has been studied. Compared with the alloys prepared by casting and rapid solidification, the modulation structure developed during ageing process of those prepared by mechanical alloying is finer and much more uniform, which leads to a higher peak hardness. However, their spinodal decomposition temperature are almost the same. Cold deformation prior to ageing not only accelerates the ageing process but also increases the peak hardness of the alloy.

文摘Calcined ginger nuts admixed by fly ash and quartz sand (CGN-(F+S)) has been validated to be basically compatible to earthen sites as an anchor grout. But in general, CGN-(F+S) still has good durability.
文摘Rapidly solidified 2024 aluminium alloy powders were mechanically milled, then consolidated to bulk form. The tensile yield strength of the consolidated alloy with submicrometer size grains increases with decreasing grain size, and it follows the famous HallPetch relation
文摘The effect of ageing temperature on the mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si alloy has been studied. The material was machined into different shapes of the tests to be carried out: tensile, impact and hardness. The test specimens were divided into two and, some sets were solution treated at 500℃ for one hour and peak aged at 160℃ for eight hours while the other sets were solution treated at 500℃ for one hour and peak aged at 180℃ for eight hours. The abovementioned tests were carried out on the specimens. The results show that at low ageing temperature of 160℃, the ductility and impact were high while at 180℃, the ultimate tensile strength and hardness are higher compared to the value obtained at 160℃.
