The Si C14Cu4Mg0.5Si was designed for use on the moon landing vehicle or missile wings, but the hardness of aluminium-silicon carbide composite material was very high, much higher than the general hardness of cemented carbide, which will bring many difficulties in the aluminium-silicon carbide composite material processing. The chemical compositions of Si C14Cu4Mg0.5Si were analyzed. A new selected indexable cutter was designed to mill Si C14Cu4Mg0.5Si. The structure design of milling cutter was different from the conventional milling cutter, breaking the previous limitations to a certain extent, pioneering the idea. The tool material wear was detected by experiments. The mechanical and physical properties of Si C14Cu4Mg0.5Si were also tested. Si C14Cu4Mg0.5Si exhibited different surface quality characteristics under different milling tools.展开更多

Aluminum added to carbon-containing refractories reacts with C(s) to form Al^ C^(s) gradually during heating from 600 ’C to 1200^0 . It is considered that the interlocked structure of Al^ C-$ plate crystals promotes the outstanding increase of hot modulus of rupture of carbon-containing refractories with Al. The HMOR of carbon-containing refractories added with Al additive from 0 to 5wt% increases by 2.8 times being from 6.5MPa to 18.2MPa. After a thermochemical calculation for hydration reaction processes ofAl^C^ and H^O (g), the equilibrium partial pressure chart ofH^O (g) in H^O-A^C^-Al^ OH)} system vs various temperatures has been attained . The H2 0 (g) partial pressure in the air needed for the Al^ C3 hydration reaction is no more than 10;18 atm at the temperature below 120t . It is considered that the burned carbon-containing re展开更多

The results show that AZ91 magnesium alloy with 1.0% SrCO3 addition has the best refining effect at 730 ℃ for 20 min, the average size of the α-Mg grain in AZ91 matrix alloy is reduced from about 91 μm to 58 μm, with reduction of about 36%. Based on the analysis results of EDS, binding energy, and Gibbs free energy, it is evident that the grain is refined because of the generation of Al4C3 particles which can be used as the crystal nucleus of the magnesium alloy when SrCO3 is added. Owing to the generation of Al4C3 in AZ91 magnesium alloy, the grain boundary is pined and the grain growth is inhibited. In the accession to the Al4C3, small subcooling temperature difference leads to the formation of fine grain microstructure in alloy melt. Fine grain microstructure in AZ91 alloy melt with the addition of SrCO3 can be obtained on the condition of lower undercooling temperature according to the DTA analysis results.展开更多
