Effects of calcium on ATPase activities, lipid contents, and fatty acid compositions of plasma membrane from wheat roots were assayed under aluminum stress. The results showed that the increase of calcium concentration in the nutrient solution increased the activity of H + ATPase and the phospholipid content, decreased the activity of Ca 2+ ATPase and the galactolipid of plasma membrane. Owing to the decrease of linolenic acid content, the index of unsaturated fatty acid (IUFA) and index of double bond (DBI) decreased in Altas66. The IUFA and DBI of plasma membrane from Scout66 roots increased because its linolenic acid content increased obviously and its palmitic acid content decreased apparently. 展开更多

Here, we investigated the influence of Al stress on... Aluminum (Al) toxicity is a considerable factor limiting crop yield and biomass in acidic soil. Tartary buckwheatgrowing in acidic soil may suffer from Al poisoning. Here, we investigated the influence of Al stress on the growthof tartary buckwheat seedling roots, and the alleviation of Al stress by silicon (Si), as has been demonstrated inmany crops. Under Al stress, root growth (total root length, primary root length, root tips, root surface area, androot volume) was significantly inhibited, and Al and malondialdehyde (MDA) accumulated in the root tips. At thesame time, catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase activities, polyphenols, flavonoids, and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) and 2,2′-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonate) (ABTS) free-radical scavenging abilitywere significantly decreased. After the application of Si, root growth, Al accumulation, and oxidative damage wereimproved. Compared to Al-treated seedlings, the contents of ·O2− and MDA decreased by 29.39% and 25.22%,respectively. This was associated with Si-induced increases in peroxidase and CAT enzyme activity, flavonoidcompounds, and free-radical scavenging (DPPH and ABTS). The application of Si therefore has positive effectson Al toxicity in tartary buckwheat roots by reducing Al accumulation in the roots and maintaining oxidationhomeostasis. 展开更多

To clarify the effect of aluminum stress on the quality of Enteromorpha prolifera(E.prolifera)and to explore the mechanism of the combination of aluminum and E.prolifera,we analyzed changes in the nutrients,micromorphology,element distribution,and spectrum of E.prolifera treated with different concentrations of aluminum(0,0.2,2.0,and 20.0μmol· L^(-1))using scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy(SEM-EDX)and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).The biomass,protein,dietary fiber,and ash contents of E.prolifera initially increased and then subsequently decreased with an increasing concentration of aluminum.Meanwhile,the total amount of amino acids decreased.Scanning the surface of E.prolifera by SEM-EDX revealed that a high concentration of aluminum damaged the cells of E.prolifera.Additionally,the content of aluminum on the surface of E.prolifera cells increased and the absorption of other elements was also affected.The FT-IR analysis showed that aluminum might combine with the functional groups at the 3408 cm^(-)1,2928 cm1,and 1072 cm^(-)1 peaks in E.prolifera and alter the characteristic of the different absorption peaks. 展开更多

Potentiodynamic polarization tests and slow strain rate test(SSRT) in combination with fracture morphology observations were conducted to investigate the stress corrosion cracking(SCC) behavior of 7003 aluminum alloy(AA7003) in acid and alkaline chloride solutions under various applied potentials(Ea). The results show that AA7003 is to a certain extent susceptible to SCC via anodic dissolution(AD) at open-circuit potential(OCP) and is highly susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement(HE) at high negative Ea in the solutions with p H levels of 4 and 11. The susceptibility increases with negative shift in the potential when Ea is less than-1000 m V vs. SCE. However, the susceptibility distinctly decreases because of the inhibition of AD when Ea is equal to-1000 m V vs. SCE. In addition, the SCC susceptibility of AA7003 in the acid chloride solution is higher than that in the alkaline solution at each potential. Moreover, the effect of hydrogen on SCC increases with increasing hydrogen ion concentration. 展开更多

The interaction between stress and galvanic during the corrosion process of 5050 aluminum alloys was studied and the evolution of mechanics properties was indicated. Electrochemical impedance technique and scanning electron microscopy were used to analyze the surface electrochemical states and the corrosion morphology. At the same time, corrosion kinetics and thermodynamic theory were used to analyze the influencing mechanism of the stress factor and the galvanic factor. The results show that both of galvanic factor and tensile stress factor can increase the corrosion potential of aluminum alloys and result in the corrosion resistance decrease. With decreasing corrosion resistance, the mechanical properties of aluminum alloys decrease. These phenomena are attributed to two reasons: One is that aluminum alloys may under the condition of anodic polarization after coupled with 40 Cr Ni Mo A steel, so the corrosion can be promoted; The other is that with increasing stress, the electrochemical potential of 5050 aluminum alloys decreases and the potential difference between two materials increases, so the corrosion becomes serious. High strength aluminum alloys of 7xxx series have unacceptable levels of quenching residual stresses from solution heat treatment. The residual stress not only results in machining distortion and dimensional instability, but also increases the possibility of stress corrosion cracks. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the residual stress to an acceptable level. The crack compliance method was adopted to study the influences of various stress relief methods on residual stress patterns in 7050 aluminum alloy. The results show that 90% residual stress can be eliminated by the cold stretching(Tx51) method. And a lower level of residual stress can be achieved by the uphill quenching(Tx53) method or the cold compression(Tx52). However, there is a very steep residual stress gradient normal to exterior surfaces. 展开更多

The distortion caused by residual stresses in thick pre-stretched aluminum plates during machining integrated parts is a common and serious problem. To predict and control the machining distortion, the residual stress distribution in the thick plate must be measured firstly. The modified removal method for measuring residual stress in thick pre-stretched aluminum plates is proposed and the stress-strain relation matrix is deduced by elasticity theory. The residual stress distribution in specimen of 7050T7451 plate is measured by using the method, and measurement results are analyzed and compared with data obtained by other methods. The stress corrosion cracking(SCC) behaviour of 7A52 aluminum alloy in air and in 3.5% NaCl solution was researched by slow strain rate test(SSRT) and SEM-EDS. The SCC susceptibility was estimated with the loss of the reduction in area. The experimental results indicate that the SCC susceptibility of 7A52 aluminum alloy in 3.5% chloride solution is the highest at strain rate of 1×10-6 s-1. The lowest one is under the condition of 1×10-5 s-1. Stress concentration and anode dissolving around Al-Fe-Mn intermetallics initiate micropores which will result in microcracks. The existence of intermetallics in the microstructure may play an important role in understanding the SCC initiation mechanisms of 7A52 aluminum alloy. 展开更多

The hot deformation behavior of 2A70 aluminum alloy was investigated by means of isothermal compression tests performed on a Gleeble-1500 thermal simulator over 360~480 ℃ with strain rates in the range of 0.01~1 s-1 and the largest deformation up to 60%. On the basis of experiments, a BP artificial neural network (ANN) model was constructed to predict 2A70 aluminum alloy flow stress. True strain, strain rates and temperatures were input to the network, and flow stress was the only output. The comparison between predicted values and experimental data showed that the relative error for the trained model was less than ±3% for the sampled data while it was less than ±6% for the non-sampled data. Furthermore, the neural network model gives better results than nonlinear regression method. It is evident that the model constructed by BP ANN can be used to accurately predict the 2A70 alloy flow stress. 展开更多

Two finite element(FE) models were built up for analysis of stress field in the lining of aluminum electrolysis cells.Distribution of sodium concentration in cathode carbon blocks was calculated by one FE model of a cathode block.Thermal stress field was calculated by the other slice model of the cell at the end of the heating-up.Then stresses coupling thermal and sodium expansion were considered after 30 d start-up.The results indicate that sodium penetrates to the bottom of the cathode block after 30 d start-up.The semi-graphitic carbon block has the largest stress at the thermal stage.After 30 d start-up the anthracitic carbon has the greatest sodium expansion stress and the graphitized carbon has the lowest sodium expansion stress.Sodium penetration can cause larger deformation and stress in the cathode carbon block than thermal expansion. 展开更多

Based on the measured surface stress,stress value of key points and stress distribution shape,the internal stress distribution can be reconstructed. With the resistance to stress corrosion of the base metal as a reference, the contrast result of stress corrosion cracking ( SCC) susceptibility of aluminum-copper alloy 2219 and 2014 welded joints under different welding processes ( VP-TIG welding, HF-TIG hybrid welding, laser-TIG hybrid welding and laser HF-TIG hybrid welding) is obtained via the slow strain rate testing ( SSRT) , scanning electron microscope ( SEM) and microstructure observation auxiliary technologies. Test results show that the joints of aluminum alloy 2219, welded by hybrid welding processes, have superior resistance to stress corrosion compared to those welded by the VP-TIG welding process in varying degrees, especially, the joint welded by the laser HF-TIG hybrid welding process, where the resistance to stress corrosion is almost the same as that of the base material. However, the HF or laser hybrid welding effect is not significant under the same welding conditions for welded joints of aluminum alloy 2014. 展开更多

Inert anode has been a hot issue in the aluminum industry for many decades. With the help of FEA (finite element analysis) software ANSYS, a model was developed to simulate the thermal stress distribution working condition of an inert anode. To reduce its thermal stress, the effect of some parameters on the thermal stress distribution was investigated, including the anode height, the anode radius, the hole depth, the hole radius, and the radius of inner chamfer and outer chamfer. The results showed that in the actual working condition of an inert anode, there existed a large axial tensile stress near the tangent interface between the anode and bath, which was the major cause of anode breaking. Increasing the anode height and reducing the hole depth properly seemed to be beneficial for the stress distribution. With the increase of anode radius, the stress distribution became better first and then deteriorated, the reasonable value was between 0.045 to 0.06m. The hole radius had a significant effect on the stress and a smaller radius would reduce the thermal stress. The effect of the radius of the inner chamfer and the outer chamfer was less than other parameters. 展开更多

An attempt is made to measure three direction forces using octagonal ring dynamometer in the 2024 aluminum alloy friction stir joining(FSJ)process.A test is made to measure the specific area stress and stress distributions in the specific area of the workpiece are obtained.The workpiece stresses in the FSJ process are analyzed by numerical simulation method.It is found that,in the downward stage of the process,feed force and lateral force in the tool are small,almost zero,and the maximum axial force can reach 12.5kN.In the stable joining stage,the forces acting on the tool become stabilized.Compared with the low speed,high feed speed results in small feed force and small lateral force,but large feed force in the stable joining stage.The stresses in three directions of feed direction,direction that perpendicular to butt face and direction perpendicular to the surface are obtained.The simulation stress value of measure point is obtained.Test and numerical simulation can authenticate each other.Both experimental stress values and numerical simulation stress values are credible. 展开更多

The influence of quenching water temperature, pre stretching amount and aging temperature and times on residual stress in 7075 aluminum thick plate was studied by the measurement of residual stress using drilling hole method. The results indicate that residual stress decreases by 30% with increasing quenching water temperature from 40 ℃ to 80 ℃, 20% with increasing aging temperature from 100 ℃ to 180 ℃,and 20% with increasing aging times from 5 h to 25 h. Also, residual stress decreases to zero with increasing pre stretching amount to approximately 2%. Hence, residual stress in 7075 aluminum thick plate is reduced by the control of quenching water temperature at 80 ℃ and with pre stretching amount of about 2%. An optimal aging temperature and time should be systemically investigated to obtain combination of high mechanical performances and lower residual stress for manufacturing of 7075 aluminum alloy thick plates. 展开更多

The results show that flow stress is related to the Zener Hollonom parameter Z and strain, as well as the static recrystallization fraction between passes during multipass hot deformation of 5182 aluminum alloy. Hence, a modified exponential flow stress equation was presented by considering the values of ln A and β as functions of strain, and by using the uniform softening method and incorporating the static recrystallization fraction between passes to consider the effects of residual strain during multipass hot rolling of 5182 aluminum alloy. The research on fluctuation and inhomogeneity of internal stress of aluminum alloy thick plate is theoretical and technological base for stress control technology. By using X-ray diffraction technique and mechanical test method, aluminum alloy with typical fine sub-grains, coarse recrystallized grains, and second phase was analyzed; the interactive mechanical model between grains was built for analysis of variation of internal stress within the local micro structure by imitating the actual distribution of grains. The experimental result shows that the mechanical model can effectively explain the reason for fluctuation of microscopic stress, which also proves that the inhomogeneous distribution of metal organization is the cause for the complex distribution of microscopic stress. The model can well describe stress distribution of thick plate caused by thermal deformation. Besides, it well describes mechanism of stress fluctuation. 展开更多

The stress corrosion sensitivity of 7A52 aluminum alloy was investigated in the artificial sea water through slow stain rate test(SSRT). The stress corrosion cracking(SCC) susceptibility was estimated with the loss of elongation and stress corrosion sensitivity index. The results show that the susceptibility of 7A52 aluminum alloy is always high when the strain rate is in the range of 10-5-10-7s-1.It reaches the maximum at the strain rate of 8.7×10-7s-1,and the sensitivity index reaches 0.346. The characteristics of stress corrosion can be observed clearly on the fracture of tensile specimen. The process of SCC is depicted according to the fracture morphology. The SCC initiates at the edge of the specimen. Then the SCC grows rapidly because of the anode dissolving and stress concentration. When the area of specimen cannot support the tensile stress, it ruptures suddenly. The secondary cracks and quasi-cleavage surface can be found on the fracture morphology. 展开更多

The stress-based forming limit diagram(FLSD) established with limit stress is independent of the strain paths. Compared with traditional strain-based forming limit diagram(FLD),it is more convenient and practical to use as the criterion of forming limit under complex strain paths. The forming limit of 3A21 aluminum alloy sheet was tested and its forming limit diagram(FLD) was determined. Then the FLSD of 3A21 was constituted by transformation formulas between limit strain and limit stress. This FLSD was used in conjunction with LS-DYNA finite element simulations to predict the onset of fracture and limit forming pressure in tube hydroforming. The results indicate that the fracture often occurs in the transition region between corner and straight side of the tube,and the limit forming pressure is 46.4 MPa. The simulation result agrees with the experimental result,and the FLSD is able to predict the forming limit of tube hydroforming with remarkable accuracy. 展开更多

The results indicate that restraint condition is the main factor that determines whether or not hot cracking will occur. With rigid restraint hot cracking (crater cracking) will occur at the arc-stopping end, and such cracking usually will not occur without external restraint.
