Trial application of the envelope method to the potential ambiguity problem

The optical potential ambiguity is a long-standing problem in the analysis of elastic scattering data.For a specific collid-ing system,ambiguous potential families can lead to different behaviors in the nearside and farside scattering components.By contrast,the envelope method can decompose the experimental data into two components with negative and positive deflection angles,respectively.Hence,a question arises as to whether the comparison between the calculated nearside(or farside)component and the derived positive-deflection-angle(or negative-deflection-angle)component can help analyze the potential ambiguity problem.In this study,we conducted a trial application of the envelope method to the potential ambiguity problem.The envelope method was improved by including uncertainties in the experimental data.The colliding systems of 16O+28Si at 215.2 MeV and 12C+12C at 1016 MeV were considered in the analyses.For each colliding system,the angular distribution experimental data were described nearly equally well by two potential sets,one of which is“surface transpar-ent”and the other is refractive.The calculated angular distributions were decomposed into nearside and farside scattering components.Using the improved envelope method,the experimental data were decomposed into the positive-deflection-angle and negative-deflection-angle components,which were then compared with the calculated nearside and farside components.The capability of the envelope method to analyze the potential ambiguities was also discussed.

Low-Complexity Integrated Super-Resolution Sensing and Communication with Signal Decimation and Ambiguity Removal

Integrated sensing and communication(ISAC)is one of the main usage scenarios for 6G wireless networks.To most efficiently utilize the limited wireless resources,integrated super-resolution sensing and communication(ISSAC)has been recently proposed to significantly improve sensing performance with super-resolution algorithms for ISAC systems,such as the Multiple Signal Classification(MUSIC)algorithm.However,traditional super-resolution sensing algorithms suffer from prohibitive computational complexity of orthogonal-frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)systems due to the large dimensions of the signals in the subcarrier and symbol domains.To address such issues,we propose a novel two-stage approach to reduce the computational complexity for super-resolution range estimation significantly.The key idea of the proposed scheme is to first uniformly decimate signals in the subcarrier domain so that the computational complexity is significantly reduced without missing any target in the range domain.However,the decimation operation may result in range ambiguity due to pseudo peaks,which is addressed by the second stage where the total collocated subcarrier data are used to verify the detected peaks.Compared with traditional MUSIC algorithms,the proposed scheme reduces computational complexity by two orders of magnitude,while maintaining the range resolution and unambiguity.Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Optimal Insurance with Background Risk under the Ambiguity and Belief Heterogeneity Structure

In this paper, we discuss the optimal insurance in the presence of background risk while the insured is ambiguity averse and there exists belief heterogeneity between the insured and the insurer. We give the optimal insurance contract when maxing the insured’s expected utility of his/her remaining wealth under the smooth ambiguity model and the heterogeneous belief form satisfying the MHR condition. We calculate the insurance premium by using generalized Wang’s premium and also introduce a series of stochastic orders proposed by [1] to describe the relationships among the insurable risk, background risk and ambiguity parameter. We obtain the deductible insurance is the optimal insurance while they meet specific dependence structures.

Translation Strategies of Ambiguity in English Language and Literature

Differential diagnosis of ambiguous genitalia in Chinese patients

Objective: To study the etiology and differential diagnos is of ambiguous genitalia.Methods: One hundred and five cases of ambiguous genitalia with disorders of sexual differentiation were analyzed based on clinical characterist ics and basic research. Results: Ambiguous genitalia are closely related to the functio n of androgen. It could be classified into 3 groups: androgen excess, androgen d eficiency and failure of gonadal differentiation. Differential diagnosis depends on clinical manifestations, chromosome examination, serum hormone determination s, final gonadal pathology, receptor study etc.Conclusion: Ambiguous genitalia are related to abnormal androgen ic effect and early correct etiological diagnosis is the key to its management.

Ambiguous nucleus regulates the proliferation and percentage of T lymphocytes in peripheral blood

The aim of this study was to examine the immunomodulatory role of the unilateral ambiguous nucleus （Amb）. We performed electrical stimulation of the unilateral Amb, electrical stimulation of the left parietal cortex and the lateral hypothalamus following unilateral Arab lesion, as well as microinjection of acetylcholine chloride and hemicholine-3 into the unilateral Amb, and electrical stimulation of the unilateral Amb after injection of atropine, mecamylamine, propranolol, and phentolamine. Results showed that the number and proliferation of peripheral blood T lymphocytes were increased after electrical stimulation of the unilateral Arab. The cholinergic neurons in the Amb released choline substances to alter cellular immunity, thus confirming that the Amb mediates the neuro-immunomodulatory process.

Contribution of the Medical Imaging in Care of Ambiguous Genitalia

We report a case of ambiguous genitalia in a 15-year-old patient to demonstrate input of medical imaging in the diagnosis and care of this rare congenital deformation. Disorders of sexual differentiation (DSD) have been defined as congenital conditions in which development of chromosome, gonad, or anatomic sex is atypical and that raise an issue in the sex assignment. In lower socioeconomic countries where antenatal diagnosis is almost non-existent, due to lack of technical facilities, their medical and surgical management is hard. The case which we report was investigated by ultrasonography and genitography, which remains primary indications in our context.

A Quantum Neurological Model of Perception-Cognition and Awareness in Ambiguous Figures and the Case of the Dalmatian Dog

The present paper has mainly the aim to formulate a quantum neurological model of brain dynamics during perception and cognition of ambiguous figures here including the case of the Dalmatian dog. First of all, we summarize our previous experimental and theoretical studies, evidencing as the basic conceptual foundations of quantum mechanics enter in a decisive manner in explaining the basic functions of brain dynamics at perceptive and cognitive level and at the level of our consciousness. This is done in detail in Sections 2 and 3 where we discuss also the role of the so called quantum interference effect and we include here the results of an our recent experiment confirming the role of quantum theory and of its quantum interference effect also at perceptive-cognitive and awareness levels. In Section 4, following our previous study, we consider the so called Mach-Zehnder interferometer. It is a physical device that is employed in quantum mechanical experiments in order to analyze such quantum interference effect. Soon after the discussion of this device, we proceed with the elaboration of a detailed quantum neurological model in the sense that we consider the brain regions identified in V1;V2/V3/V4 and A20 and we obtain that they may behave just as the beam splitters involved in the Mach-Zehnder quantum mechanical interferometer. In this manner, we formulate a model of V1;V2/V3/V4, A20 brain dynamics as a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and such model delineates a proposed neurological mechanism explaining perception-cognition and awareness in humans under the input of ambiguous figures and in the particular case of the Dalmatian dog.

Ambiguous Goods, Ambiguous Societies： On the Precariousness of Meanings

The producers-especially industrial-of artifacts view them as conveying distinct meanings, and they surround them with discourses to support their representation （marketing, packaging, and advertising）. Yet, these superimposed meanings say nothing about what the objects signify for their users. How are the objects manipulated by those who use them？ Only when both the meanings assigned by the manufacturers and those attributed by the users are known is it possible to determine the difference or similarity between the meanings imposed on objects from above and those produced by their users. We, thus, shift from an economic conception of consumption to one which emphasizes the cultural and communicative roles essential for granting material objects their social protagonism, freeing them from subordination to their producers without imprisoning them passively in the network of meanings constructed by consumers. Emphasizing that things have biographies, which can be more or less fully reconstructed and recounted, is useful not only for understanding the role that material objects perform in determining social phenomena independently from the intentions of their producers, but also for demonstrating the mutable character of their social presence. Objects, therefore, should be considered, not as commodities, but as materials for the social construction of reality, as provisional and negotiable meanings. It is precisely the provisional and negotiable nature of objects that makes them ontologically ambiguous things which communicate their own values, points of view, and so on.

An Unambiguity and Anti-Range Eclipse Method for PD Radar Using Biphase Coded Signals

Target detection is an important research content in the radar field.At present,efforts are being made to optimize the precision of detection information.In this paper,we use the high pulse repetition frequency(HPRF)transmission method and orthogonal biphase coded signals in each pulse to avoid velocity ambiguity and range ambiguity of radar detection.In addition,We also apply Walsh matrix and genetic algorithm(GA)to generate satisfying orthogonal biphase coded signals with low auto-correlation sidelobe peak and cross-correlation peak,which make the results more accurate.In a radar receiver,data rearrangement of echo signals is performed,and then pulse compression and moving target detection(MTD)are utilized to get the final velocity and range information of a target without velocity ambiguity and range ambiguity.Besides,a small transmitting pulse time width is adopted to reduce the working blind area,and two different high pulse repetition frequencies(HPRFs)are adopted to solve the problem of range eclipse.Simulation results finally prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.

Effects of ambiguity on innovation strategies

Technological innovations significantly influence individual firms and other innova-tions,such as financial innovations.The future of a firm depends on its innovation investment strategy.According to the literature,innovation investments are affected by ambiguity.This study examines how ambiguity affects the innovation strategies of managers.We show that the innovation strategies of ambiguity-averse managers differ from those of ambiguity-neutral managers.Unlike ambiguity-neutral managers,ambiguity-averse managers consider a broader variety of innovation strategies for a wider range of future innovation arrival times.Regarding the profitability of a future innovation,ambiguity-averse managers delay the investment decision until the profit-ability of the innovation is less ambiguous.Moreover,we examine innovation strategies under various conditions,including the risk of innovation outdatedness,management disputes,and the varying volatility of innovations.

Ambiguity function analysis and side peaks suppression of Link16 signal based passive radar

Link16 data link is the communication standard of the joint tactical information distribution system(JTIDS)used by the U.S.military and North Atlantic Treaty Organization,which is applied as the opportunistic illuminator for passive radar in this paper.The time-domain expression of the Link16 signal is established,and its ambiguity function expression is derived.The timedelay dimension and Doppler dimension side peaks of which lead to the appearance of the false target during target detection.To solve the problem,the time-delay dimension and Doppler dimension side peaks suppression methods are proposed.For the problem that the conventional mismatched filter(MMF)cannot suppress the time-delay dimension side peaks,a neighborhood MMF(NMMF)is proposed.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Ambiguous Cylinders: a New Class of Impossible Objects

This paper presents a new class of surfaces that give two quite different appearances when they are seen from two special viewpoints. The inconsistent appearances can be perceived by simultaneously viewing them directly and in a mirror. This phenomenon is a new type of optical illusion, and we have named it the ＂ambiguous cylinder illusion＂, because it is typically generated by cylindrical surfaces. We consider why this illusion arises, and we present a mathematical method for designing ambiguous cylinders.

情报产品模糊性的塑造机理研究

[研究目的]情报产品用语含糊现象并不鲜见,其与情报产品质量标准,如“准确、客观”等要求背道而驰,不加以规制将影响到情报的决策辅助功能。[研究方法]该文首先对模糊性及相关概念进行了界定与区分,阐明了该议题研究的重要意义。在此基础上,重点从三个方面剖析了情报产品模糊性的塑造机理。[研究结论]情报产品模糊性有其主客观原因。其中情报分析人员的角色模糊、情报工作的目标模糊、决策者的战略性模糊构成了情报产品模糊性的主要发生机理。缓解的思路在于,密切情报人员与决策者之间的交流,弥合两者之间因可能存在的“地位”差异而导致的服务妥协;强化情报生产过程的精细度和透明度等等。

B亚型新等位基因803delC的分子生物学研究

目的分析研究1例新的B亚型等位基因血清学特点和分子生物学机制。方法应用血清学方法检测患者ABO血型。应用序列特异性引物-聚合酶链反应(PCR-SSP)检测ABO血型基因。应用Sanger基因序列分析检测ABO基因1~7外显子编码区域,确定基因突变位点。结果血清学鉴定患者正定型为O型,反定型为B型。PCR-SSP基因分型结果为A/O型,存在A基因,与血清学结果不符。进一步Sanger双链测序结果显示该标本在ABO^(*)B.01/ABO^(*)O.01.01的基础上,第7外显子803位置缺失C碱基。该突变最终导致多肽链上发生p.Ala268Gly和p.Phe269Ser的氨基酸替换,并且从269位置开始产生新的开放阅读框,新的开放阅读框第20号氨基酸为终止密码子,导致B基因表达终止。进一步ABO基因克隆测序证明该突变点位于ABO*B.01基因上,该突变已提交NCBI数据库,收录编号为OR343908。结论在中国人群中发现1种新的导致B变异型的ABO等位基因,基因检测方法可辅助鉴定血清学正、反定型不符的疑难血型。
