The ammonia concentration at the ammonia converter outlet is a significant process variable, which reflects directly the production efficiency. However, it is hard to be measured reliably online in real applications. In this paper, a soft sensor based on BP neural network (BPNN) is applied to estimate the ammonia concentration. A modified group search optimization with nearest neighborhood (GSO-NH) is proposed to optimize the weights and thresholds of BPNN. GSO-NH is integrated with BPNN to build a soft sensor model. Finally, the soft sensor model based on BPNN and GSO-NH (GSO-NH-NN) is used to infer the outlet ammonia concentration in a real-world application. Three other modeling methods are applied for comparison with GSO-NH-NN. The results show that the soft sensor based on GSO-NH-NN has a good prediction performance with high accuracy. Moreover, the GSO-NH-NN also provides good generalization ability to other modeling problems in ammonia synthesis production.展开更多

[Method] A total of 480 one-day-old 817 broilers were selected. They were randomly divided into four groups with different paddings, and each group was in triplicate. The weights of broilers and feed were weighed weekly. The growth performance of broilers was determined. On day 30, the ammonia concentra- tions in broiler houses were determined. On day 35, 6 broilers were randomly se- lected from each group, and their vein blood was sampled. In the sampled vein blood, the concentrations of ammonia, glucose, globulin, serum total protein and urea nitrogen were determined. [Result] There were significant differences in ammo- nia concentration among broiler houses laid with different paddings (P〈0.05). The ammonia concentration in group 1 was significantly lower than those in group 3 and group 4 (P〈0.05). No significant difference was found in ammonia concentrations in broiler houses between group 2 and group 3 (P〉0.05). The ammonia concentration in group 4 was significantly higher than those in group1, group 2 and group 3 (,0〈 0.05). There were also significant differences in blood indicators among different groups (P〈0.05). The blood ammonia, blood glucose and serum urea nitrogen con- centrations in group 1 were significantly lower than those in other groups (P〈0.05), the serum total protein concentration was significantly higher than those in group 3 and group 4 (P〈0.05), and the serum globulin concentration was significantly higher than those in group 2, group 3 and group 4 (P〈0.05). Significant differences were observed in feed intake, body weight gain and slaughter weight between different groups (P〈0.05), but there were no significant differences in feed to grain ratio (P〉 0.05). [Conclusion] Under the experimental conditions, the padding of Chinese medicine residue showed better effect on reducing ammonia concentration in broiler house, which was conducive to play of production potential of broilers.展开更多

The results showed that nitrification was prone to complete with increasing pH, DO and temperature. Sensitivity analysis demonstrated the effects of temperature and pH on nitrification feature of suspended bacteria were slightly greater than those of immobilized nitrifying bacteria. Immobilized cells could achieve complete nitrification at low ammonia concentrations when DO was sufficient. Continuous experiments were carried out to discuss the removal of ammonia nitrogen from synthetic micropollute source water with the ammonia concentration of about 1mg/L using immobilized nitrifying bacteria pellets in an up-flow inner circulation reactor under different hydraulic retention times (HRT). The continuous removal rate remains above 80% even under HRT 30 min. The results verified that the waterborne polyurethane immobilized nitrifying bacteria pellets had great potential applications for micro-pollution source water treatment.展开更多

A total of 750 Jian carps(18.0 ± 0.2 g) were randomly distributed into five groups with three replicates and fed the same diet for 56 days. Tissue and plasma samples were collected on days 14, 28,42, and 56. The results were used to develop a mathematical model for specific growth rate, body moisture and fat content, aspartate transaminase activity and alanine aminotransferase activity in hepatopancreas and muscle, plasma ammonia concentration, and trypsin, chymotrypsin, lipase, and amylase activities in hepatopancreas and intestine, activities of creatine kinase, Na^+/K^+-ATPase, alkaline phosphatase, and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase in intestine in Jian carp. There were linear relationships between natural logarithms of above indexes and body weight. The body moisture and fat content, digestive and absorptive enzymes activities, and transaminase activities showed negative allometry against body weight of Jian carp which were partial reasons to explain fish growth rate decreasing.展开更多
