To understand alkali tolerance of M. prunifolia at the molecular level, transcriptome analysis was performed. When plants were cultured in alkaline conditions for 15 d, the root growth of M. hupehensis with weak alkali tolerance decreased significantly. Analysis of endogenous hormone levels showed that the concentrations of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and zeatin riboside (ZR) in M. hupehensis under alkali stress were lower than those in the control. However, the trend for IAA and ZR in M. prunifolia was the opposite. The expression of ABA-related genes CIPK1 and AHK1 increased in the two apple rootstocks under alkali stress, but the expression of CIPK1 and AHK1 in M. prunifolia was higher than in M. hupehensis. These results demonstrated that under alkali stress, the increase of IAA, ZR, and ABA in roots and the increase of the expression of related genes promoted the growth of roots and improved the alkali tolerance of apple rootstocks.展开更多

For this reason, it is very important to examine these smartphones in terms of digital forensics since they are often used as evidence in trials. It is possible to acquire a physical or logical image of these devices. Acquiring physical and logical images has advantages and disadvantages compared to each other. Creating the logical image is done at the file system level. Analysis can be made on this logical image. Both logical image acquisition and analysis of the image can be done by software tools. In this study, the differences between logical image and physical image acquisition in Android smartphones, their advantages and disadvantages compared to each other, the difficulties that may be encountered in obtaining physical images, which type of image contributes to obtaining more useful and effective data, which one should be preferred for different conditions, and the benefits of having root authority are discussed. The practice of getting the logical image of the Android smartphones and making an analysis on the image is also included. Although root privileges are not required for logical image acquisition, it has been observed that very limited data will be obtained with the logical image created without root privileges. Nevertheless, logical image acquisition has advantages too against physical image acquisition.展开更多

In the study, we investigated whether BCC had effects on left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and myocardial fibrosis in spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR). For SHR + BCC group, BCC (0.3 g/kg) was orally administered daily for 12 weeks. The SHR group and the Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY, normal control) group, the equal volume of 5‰ CMC-Na distilled water. After 12 weeks, left ventricle was segregated from each rat in the groups, and the left ventricle weight/body weight (LVW/BW) calculated. The volume fraction of collagen (VFC) in myocardium and the diameter of cardiac muscle cell (DCMC) were examined by histological staining. Biochemical indicators of blood sample such as Angiotensin II (Ang II), Aldosterone (ALD), Hyaluronic Acid (HA), Laminin (LN), Procollagen III (PC III) and Collagen type IV (CIV) levels were detected by using radioimmunoassay (RIA). And also NOS and iNOS levels were measured by means of ultra-violet spectroscopy (UV). The results shown that in SHR + BCC group, the LVW/BW, DCMC and VFC decreased significantly versus SHR group, the same as biochemical indicators except NOS and iNOS. All of above index was similar to WKY group. Statistically significant correlations were found among the plasma Ang II level, the mean systolic blood pressure (SBP), and the NOS level of the three groups. Our study indicates that the BCC can control the LVH and myocardial fibrosis in SHR.展开更多

Seedlings of maize (Zea mays L., cv. Zhengdan 958) were grown in hydroponics with the control (4 mmol L-1) or low-nitrogen (40 μmol L-1) for 12 d, supplied as nitrate. Low nitrogen enhanced root elongation rate by 4.1-fold, accompanied by increases in cell production rate by 2.2-fold, maximal elemental elongation rate (by 2.5-fold), the length of elongation zone (by 1.5-fold), and ifnal cell length by 1.8-fold. On low nitrogen, the higher cell production rate resulted from a higher cell division rate and in fact the number of dividing cells was reduced. Consequently, the residence time of a cell in the division zone tended to be shorter under low nitrogen. In addition, low nitrogen increased root diameter, an increase that occurred speciifcally in the cortex and was accompanied by an increase in cell number. It is concluded that roots elongates in response to low-nitrogen stress by accelerating cell production and expansion.展开更多

The root color of the mutant began to turn slight-red when the roots were exposed to the light at the intensity of 29 )Jmol/(m^2·s), then turned dark-red at the light intensity of 180 pmol/(m^2·s), suggesting that the root color of the mutant was evidently sensitive to light. Furthermore, genetic analysis showed that the character of light-sensitive red-root of the HG1 mutant was controlled by a single dominant gene, tentatively designated as Lsr. With simple sequence repeat markers, Lsrgene was located between the markers RM252 and RM303 on chromosome 4 with the genetic distances of 9.8 cM and 6.4 cM, respectively. These results could be useful for fine mapping and cloning of Lsrgene in rice.展开更多

In this study, we analysis the the synthesis and storage sites of phenolic compound in E. purpurea. We used fluorescent microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, cytochemical and immunocytochemical localization to observe the distribution of phenolic compounds. Our results show that the phenolic compounds were mostly distributed in the cortex parenchyma cells, vascular parenchyma cells and pith parenchyma cells in the root and rhizome, and mainly present in the vacuoles, large intercellular spaces and their surrounding cell walls. No phenolic compounds were observed in the cytoplasm and the organelles. We concluded that the phenolic compounds were synthetized in the cortex parenchyma cells, vascular parenchyma cells and pith parenchyma cells in the root and rhizome, and stored in the vacuoles of parenchyma cells. The above results provided significantly cytological information for further approaching the metabolic regulation and transfer pathways of phenolic compounds in biochemistry and molecular biology.展开更多

The selection for crop cultivars that are tolerant to low iron levels could be one of the approaches to solving the problem and improving crop production. [Method] Three major apple root stock species (Malus prunifolia, Malus sieversii and Malus baccata) were selected to evaluate their tolerance to iron defciency in hydroponic system. A 3×2 factorial pot experiment was conducted with three replicates in a greenhouse at Gansu Agricultural University, Lanzhou, China. [Result] The SOD, POD and CAT activities in roots and stems of the 3 root stock species in Fe-defcient Hoagland solution decreased, however Malus sieversii got the less reduction and had better root architecture and growth than the other species. The aboveground biomass, plant height, chlorophyll content, total root length and lateral root number were correlated positively with iron-defciency stress tolerance. The species’ tolerance to iron-defciency from high to low was M. sieversii’s〉M. baccata’s〉M. prunifolia’s. Moreover, the improvement of some morphological features such as root length, above-ground biomass, plant height and lateral root number in apple could be conducive to breeding cultivars with tolerance to iron-defciency stress. [Conclusion] Malus sieversii had better tolerance to iron-defciency stress than the others in this study.展开更多

A total of 241 F2:3 families were evaluated in replicated trials under deficient phosphorus conditions in 2007 at two sites (Kaixian County and Southwest University, Chongqing, P. R. China). The results show pleiotropy and close linkage among QTLs. Four common regions in different environments were in bnlg100- bnlg1268b (bins 1.02) for QTL of H+, bnlg1268a-umc1290a (bins 1.09) for QTL of AP (acid phospbatase activity), dupssrl5- P 1MT/a (bins 6.06) for QTLs of PU (phosphorus uptake) and RW (root weight), and P IM3/d-P1M3/g (bins9.04) for QTLs of PU and AP. These QTLs are non-environment or minor QTLs x environment. By epistatic analysis, three main QTLs and eighteen QTLs x QTLs interactions were detected for the seven measured characteristics. These QTLs may affect trait expression by epistatic interaction with the other loci, and make a substantial contribution to phosphorus utilization efficiency, which should be considered when breeding maize varieties with high P efficiency. Two regions were detected in dupssrl 5- P1MT/a (bins 6.06) for QTL of RW and P1M3/d- P 1M3/g (bins 9.04) for QTL of PU and AP. They were detected in two different environments and by two methods of QTL analysis, which were useful for marker-assisted selection.展开更多

文摘Quantifying surface cracks in alpine meadows is a prerequisite and a key aspect in the study of grassland crack development.Crack characterization indices are crucial for the quantitative characterization of complex cracks, serving as vital factors in assessing the degree of cracking and the development morphology. So far, research on evaluating the degree of grassland degradation through crack characterization indices is rare, especially the quantitative analysis of the development of surface cracks in alpine meadows is relatively scarce. Therefore, based on the phenomenon of surface cracking during the degradation of alpine meadows in some regions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,we selected the alpine meadow in the Huangcheng Mongolian Township,Menyuan Hui Autonomous County,Qinghai Province,China as the study area, used unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)sensing technology to acquire low-altitude images of alpine meadow surface cracks at different degrees of degradation(light, medium, and heavy degradation),and analyzed the representative metrics characterizing the degree of crack development by interpreting the crack length, length density, branch angle, and burrow(rat hole)distribution density and combining them with in situ crack width and depth measurements. Finally, the correlations between the crack characterization indices and the soil and root parameters of sample plots at different degrees of degradation in the study area were analyzed using the grey relation analysis. The results revealed that with the increase of degradation, the physical and chemical properties of soil and the mechanical properties of root-soil composite changed significantly, the vegetation coverage reduced, and the root system aggregated in the surface layer of alpine meadow. As the degree of degradation increased, the fracture morphology developed from"linear"to"dendritic",and eventually to a complex and irregular"polygonal"pattern. The crack length, width, depth, and length density were identified as the crack characterization indices via analysis of variance. The results of grey relation analysis also revealed that the crack length, width, depth, and length density were all highly correlated with root length density, and as the degradation of alpine meadows intensified, the underground biomass increased dramatically, forming a dense layer of grass felt, which has a significant impact on the formation and expansion of cracks.
文摘Android smartphones largely dominate the smartphone market. Nevertheless, logical image acquisition has advantages too against physical image acquisition.

文摘[Objectives] Volatile oil components of traditional drug use site " root and rhizome" of N. jatamansi and herb were identified and contrasted, which aimed to provide the basis for rationally using wild N. jatamansi resource. [Methods]Volatile oil components from different sites of N. jatamansi were identified and isolated by GC-MS. [Results] There were 56 kinds of volatile oil components from different sites of N. jatamansi,in which 39 components from herb of N. jatamansi,39 components from root and rhizome of N. jatamansi, and there were 22 common components. But 1 component in higher concentration had obvious difference. [Conclusions] The herb of N. jatamansi could not completely replace " root and rhizome" of N. jatamansi as the medicine, which was consistent with prior detection result of each physicochemical index from different sites of N. jatamansi. The research could provide the reference for making quality standard of N. jatamansi medicine and rational basis for its further research and development.
文摘The supercritical fluid extraction of Dahurian Angelica Root (Bai Zhi) and Szechwan Lovage Rhizome (Chuan Xiong) was named as BCC. Our study indicates that the BCC can control the LVH and myocardial fibrosis in SHR.

文摘Maize plants respond to low-nitrogen stress by enhancing root elongation. The underlying physiological mechanism remains unknown. It is concluded that roots elongates in response to low-nitrogen stress by accelerating cell production and expansion.

文摘Plant nitrogen assimilation and use efficiency in the seedling's root system are beneficial for adult plants in field condition for yield enhancement.Identification of the genetic basis between root traits and N uptake plays a crucial role in wheat breeding. In the present study,198 doubled haploid lines from the cross of Yangmai 16/Zhongmai 895 were used to identify quantitative trait loci(QTLs)underpinning four seedling biomass traits and five root system architecture(RSA)related traits. The plants were grown under hydroponic conditions with control, low and high N treatments(Ca(NO_(3))_(2)·4H_(2)O at 0,0.05 and 2.0 mmol L^(-1),respectively).Significant variations among the treatments and genotypes, and positive correlations between seedling biomass and RSA traits(r=0.20 to 0.98)were observed.Inclusive composite interval mapping based on a high-density map from the Wheat 660 K single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP)array identified 51 QTLs from the three N treatments.Twelve new QTLs detected on chromosomes 1 AL(1)in the control,1 DS(2)in high N treatment,4 BL(5)in low and high N treatments, and 7 DS(3)and 7 DL(1)in low N treatments, are first reported in influencing the root and biomass related traits for N uptake. The most stable QTLs(RRS.caas-4 DS)on chromosome 4 DS,which were related to ratio of root to shoot dry weight trait, was in close proximity of the Rht-D1 gene, and it showed high phenotypic effects, explaining 13.1%of the phenotypic variance.Twenty-eight QTLs were clustered in 12 genetic regions.SNP markers tightly linked to two important QTLs clusters C10 and C11 on chromosomes 6 BL and 7 BL were converted to kompetitive allele-specific PCR(KASP)assays that underpin important traits in root development, including root dry weight, root surface area and shoot dry weight. These QTLs,clusters and KASP assays can greatly improve the efficiency of selection for root traits in wheat breeding programmes.

文摘The light-sensitive red-root mutant, designated as HG1, was newly observed from an indica rice variety, Nankinkodo, when seedlings were grown with roots exposed to natural light. These results could be useful for fine mapping and cloning of Lsrgene in rice.

文摘Dissecting the genetic regulation of gene expression is critical for understanding phenotypic variation and species evolution. However, our understanding of the transcriptional variability in sweet potato remains limited. Here,we analyzed two publicly available datasets to explore the landscape of transcriptomic variations and its genetic basis in the storage roots of sweet potato. The comprehensive analysis identified a total of 724,438 high-confidence single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)and 26,026 expressed genes.Expression quantitative trait locus(eQTL)analysis revealed 4408 eQTLs regulating the expression of 3646 genes, including 2261 local eQTLs and 2147 distant eQTLs.Two distant eQTL hotspots were found with target genes significantly enriched in specific functional classifications.By combining the information from regulatory network analyses,eQTLs and association mapping,we found that IbMYB1-2 acts as a master regulator and is the major gene responsible for the activation of anthocyanin biosynthesis in the storage roots of sweet potato. Our study provides the first insight into the genetic architecture of genome-wide expression variation in sweet potato and can be used to investigate the potential effects of genetic variants on key agronomic traits in sweet potato.
文摘Cichoric acid is the main phenolic compound in the root and rhizome of the medicinal part, Echinacea purpurea that is known for possessing immune enhancing characteristics. The above results provided significantly cytological information for further approaching the metabolic regulation and transfer pathways of phenolic compounds in biochemistry and molecular biology.

文摘[Objective] Iron deficiency is one of the most important crop element deficiencies in the Loess Plateau of northwestern China. [Conclusion] Malus sieversii had better tolerance to iron-defciency stress than the others in this study.

文摘The phosphorus uptake (PU) in above-ground parts of plant, root characteristics and root exudations as well as the quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with these characteristics were determined for a F2:3 population derived from the cross of two contrasting maize (Zea mays L.) genotypes, 082 and Yel07. They were detected in two different environments and by two methods of QTL analysis, which were useful for marker-assisted selection.
