With few treatment options to choose from, such patients often benefit from empathic support and access to information to help them make treatment decisions based on their individual circumstances and needs. Patients with MBC have been shown to present with unique physical, social and psychological needs that require additional time, counselling and availability of health care providers in addition to the routine options available to other patients. In resource-limited settings, the needs of such patients are often unknown and unaddressed, which adds to the anxiety associated with the diagnosis and its treatment. Materials and methods: This descriptive qualitative study was conducted using 3 focus group discussions with a total of 17 participants with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) attending Ocean Road Cancer Institute in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Participants were purposively selected for the study from outpatient clinics and inpatient wards. A semi-structured FGD guide was used to moderate discussions and analysis was done using a thematic approach. Results: The median age of participants was 51 (range 33 - 81 years) with an average of 4 months (range 1 - 12 months) from diagnosis of BC to the interview. 4 (24%) were diagnosed with MBC on first presentation (denovo). Participants spoke about the importance of accurate BC-related information in allowing timely referral and treatment both in the community and within the health system. They recognized the role of mass and social media in increasing awareness about BC and identified myths surrounding cancer treatment especially mastectomy. Correct and timely information at points of care, through media platforms and via ambassadors/patient support groups was perceived as a means to avoiding delays and securing early and effective treatment. Conclusion: Patients with MBC in Tanzania have many unmet informational needs in relation to their disease. Accurate BC-related information is important in allowing early detection and diagnosis. At the community level, provision of information through established media platforms and the use of patient advocates may help to enable early referral and treatment of patients.展开更多

Breast cancer diagnosis being a stressful experience, causes psychological and emotional disruption that can be abated by meeting information needs of the affected patients. In light of the escalating cases of Breast cancer among the Zambian women, the study examined a special aspect of cancer management which is usually neglected in most cases. Aim: The main objective of the study was to assess information needs of breast cancer patients at the Cancer Diseases Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia using a modified structured interview schedule adopted from the Toronto Information Needs Questionnaire-Breast Cancer (TINQ-BC). Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was used to elicit the information needs of breast cancer patients. One hundred and ten (97% response rate) participants were selected using simple random sampling method and data was collected using a modified structured interview schedule adopted from the Toronto Information Needs Questionnaire-Breast Cancer (TINQ-BC). Stata 10.0 (StataCorp, 2008) was employed for all quantitative data analysis and graphical presentation of data. Results: The overall score for information needs was obtained by adding the scores across all the five information needs categories which were further divided into three categories namely: low important scores, of less than 50%, moderately important scores of 50% - 70% and highly important scores ranged above 70% of the 200 total scores. Out of the 110 participants recruited, 88 (80%) indicated that the information across the five categories was moderately important. Logistic regression of information needs and posited determinants revealed that anxiety levels;education level;presence of co-morbidity;and being on treatment were significant determinants of patients’ informational needs (Effect’s p ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study support the idea that breast cancer patients are seeking more information on their illness, hence information provision is one of the most important factors for providing high quality cancer care across the whole cancer continuum. Therefore, appreciating the information needs of breast cancer patients is substantial in improving care.展开更多

Often these information systems are embedded in mobile nurse stations. As part of assessing the impact of this technology it is important to determine the effect it has on charting compliance and user acceptance. Data were collected at a medical center in Taiwan in two stages. The first stage involved use of a 28-item medical review tool to measure charting compliance in 99 charts before and after implementation of the EHR system. In stage two, a survey was conducted with 709 nurse users to determine their level of mobile EHR acceptance 3 months after this documentation technology was initiated. Results demonstrated that EHR significantly improved documentation compliance in standardized data entry format (name, date, time), abbreviation, content correction/revision, patient care needs, and care goals. Analysis of data from the five categories of a user acceptance survey revealed the following results (based on a 4-point Likert scale): patient care (2.92), nursing efficiency (2.78), education and training (2.98), usability (2.61), and usage benefits (2.87). The study concluded that use of mobile nurse stations with EHR can improve documentation compliance and that although frequent system downtime needs improvement, nurses generally have positive attitudes toward this technology application.展开更多

When the document is short, e.g. only the abstract is available, the word-use variability problem will have substantial impact on the Information Retrieval (IR) performance. To solve the problem, a new technology to short document retrieval named Reference Document Model (RDM) is put forward in this letter. RDM gets the statistical semantic of the query/document by pseudo feedback both for the query and document from reference documents. The contributions of this model are three-fold: (1) Pseudo feedback both for the query and the document; (2) Building the query model and the document model from reference documents; (3) Flexible indexing units, which can be ally linguistic elements such as documents, paragraphs, sentences, n-grams, term or character. For short document retrieval, RDM achieves significant improvements over the classical probabilistic models on the task of ad hoc retrieval on Text REtrieval Conference (TREC) test sets. Results also show that the shorter the document, the better the RDM performance.展开更多

Methods: The documental quality of the 389 websites was estimated based upon the following parameters: 1) a combination of quality criteria from the Health Information Locator (LIS—OPS/BIREME) and those from Chile’s Pontifical Catholic University, organized into 17 variables;2) uniformity of reference criteria (Vancouver);3) association between the presence of authorship and a higher number of the quality criteria being fulfilled. We also studied the ranking of the results presented by Google in addition to attributes connected to the websites’ target audience, the types of content, their sponsors and country of origin. Results: Of the 389 websites studied, 111 links were not active (28.53% CI 95% [24.05 - 33.02]) and none of the websites in the sample met all of the 17 quality variables. Authored websites displayed remarkable differences in quality when compared to those which did not identify their authors. Conclusions: Faced with the issue of the proliferation of websites with questionable quality content, and the fact that the ranking of results interferes directly in the internal evaluation of content relevance, we propose that public-health research institutions cooperate with web-searching developers to improve the website-positioning formula, in which the “identified authorship” criterion should play a major role in the ranking system.展开更多

Methodology: A prospective, qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was carried out at the Brachytherapy unit of the National Institute of Oncology in Rabat, Morocco. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 31 patients undergoing high dose-rate brachytherapy for cervical cancer from July 2020 to August 2020. Semi-structured, one-to-one interviews were conducted by a female radiation oncologist in Arabic, guided by a theme list. The interviews were translated and a thematic analysis was performed. Results: Data saturation was achieved having interviewing 31 participants, aged 27 - 70 years. Findings on patients’ informational needs were the overarching theme and form the focus of this article. The informational needs included: providing patients with disease- and treatment-related information in their home language;adequate information concerning pre-treatment preparation, possible side-effects, and sexual intercourse;and providing patients with informative material adapted to their needs as standard procedure. Conclusion: This study has identified unmet women’s informational needs during brachytherapy for cervical cancer. Providing patients with sufficient and understandable information, adequate preparation before the procedure, more sensitive support during the procedure, and debriefing afterward could lessen feelings of fear and anxiety towards treatment delivery. Guidelines with a patient-centered approach could thus be developed to be used as a tool to assist members of multidisciplinary teams in providing quality care to this group of women.展开更多

China is currently experiencing a social and technological transformation of great magnitude in terms of metamorphosing itself from a traditional society to one that is driven by information technologies. Our research study, taking this proposition into account, did a questionnaire survey on 954 library information users at five major public libraries. This research study has discovered that the information needs of public library users today reflect some of the peculiar characteristics of their society in changing times which is driven largely by the rapid development and application of new information technologies. It shows that there is a newly added demand emphasis on certain categories of library resources and services by the Chinese reading public. Our research findings have identified such needs basically in the following five functional areas of public libraries, namely, 1) Increased demands for economic resources, 2) rising expectations for more effective and efficient library services, 3) a convenient location and an amicable environment congenial to learning, 4) a suitable place for engaging in intellectual dialogues and in socialization, and 5) a few other technological amenities and information technology-based digital resources and facilities in addition to a rich repository of library materials in print format. Finally, our paper concludes its discussion with a few observation remarks about the changing trend of public libraries' visions, missions and operations vis-à-vis a contextual background of the ever heightened public expectations for getting quality information services in a timely manner in order for them to function effectively in an information-oriented society such as that of ours today.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) is a heterogenous, lifelong disease, with an unpredictable and potentially progressive course, that may impose negative psychosocial impact on patients. While informed patients with chronic illness have improved adherence and outcomes, previous research showed that the majority of IBD patients receive insufficient information regarding their disease. The large heterogeneity of IBD and the wide range of information topics makes a one-size fits all knowledge resource overwhelming and cumbersome. We hypothesized that different patient profiles may have different and specific information needs, the identification of which will allow building personalized computer-based information resources in the future.AIM To evaluate the scope of disease-related knowledge among IBD patients and determine whether different patient profiles drive unique information needs.METHODS We conducted a nationwide survey addressing hospital-based IBD clinics.A Total of 571 patients completed a 28-item questionnaire, rating the amount of information received at time of diagnosis and the importance of information, as perceived by participants, for a newly diagnosed patient, and for the participants themselves, at current time.We performed an exploratory factor analysis of the crude responses aiming to create a number of representative knowledge domains(factors), and analyzed the responses of a set of 15 real-life patient profiles generated by the study team.RESULTS Participants gave low ratings for the amount of information received at disease onset(averaging 0.9/5) and high ratings for importance, both for the newly diagnosed patients(mean 4.2/5) and for the participants themselves at current time(mean 3.5/5).Factor analysis grouped responses into six informationdomains. The responses of selected profiles, compared with the rest of the participants, yielded significant associations(defined as a difference in rating of >0.5 points with a P < 0.05).Patients with active disease showed a higher interest in work-disability, stress-coping, and therapy-complications.Patients newly diagnosed at age > 50, and patients with long-standing disease(> 10 years)showed less interest in work-disability.Patients in remission with mesalamine or no therapy showed less interest in all domains except for nutrition and long-term complications.CONCLUSION We demonstrate unmet patient information needs.Analysis of various patient profiles revealed associations with specific information topics, paving the way for building patient-tailored information resources.

文摘In the research on the smart community pension service,it is found that the problems encountered in the promotion of the smart pension can not be solved in the short term because of the lack of information and the acceptance of the intelligent products by the elderly. This paper puts forward the research ideas based on the cognitive characteristics and demand prediction of the specific population. Focusing on the research on the pension needs of people born in the 1960 s or 1970 s,it provides support for the solution of smart pension services in the peak period of aging population in the future.
文摘Background: Breast cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide and the second most common among Zambian women. Therefore, appreciating the information needs of breast cancer patients is substantial in improving care.
文摘According to a large-scale census in 2000, there were approximately 4,000,000 patients with heart failure (HF) aged between 35 and 74 years in China. Patient education shows its importance and essentiality in controlling the disease by improving the self-care abilities of patients,t21 However, a shortened period of hospitalization compromises the effectiveness and efficacy of the education. It is therefore suggested that the information needs of patients with HF should be simultaneously addressed to make education more appropriate and tailored.
文摘Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems have been adopted by healthcare organizations for documentation of patient care. The study concluded that use of mobile nurse stations with EHR can improve documentation compliance and that although frequent system downtime needs improvement, nurses generally have positive attitudes toward this technology application.

文摘The major problem of the most current approaches of information models lies in that individual words provide unreliable evidence about the content of the texts. Results also show that the shorter the document, the better the RDM performance.
文摘In Japanese 'e-government' policy, called 'e-Japan', the 'administrative document management system' is functioning as information searching systems. On the other hand, this system has also generated the problem that it is not fully functioning as a means for the information sharing in a governmental agency. So, the purpose of this research is to find how the administrative document management system can function as information sharing in administrative organization. For this purpose, this paper considers the current status and some problems firstly. And secondary, this paper proposes the idea and constructs some information systems using administrative official Website. This is the method and approach of this research. As a conclusion, this proposal information system junctions as information sharing support systems.
文摘Objectives: To analyze the documental quality of 389 websites in Portuguese about physical activity, healthy lifestyles and sedentary lifestyles found on the Brazilian version of the general search engine Google. Conclusions: Faced with the issue of the proliferation of websites with questionable quality content, and the fact that the ranking of results interferes directly in the internal evaluation of content relevance, we propose that public-health research institutions cooperate with web-searching developers to improve the website-positioning formula, in which the “identified authorship” criterion should play a major role in the ranking system.
文摘Information technology have changed information media by networking and internet using technology in health as same as another part improve efficiency and effectiveness. Currently, the medical document is reality-based medicine, so that is the most important, richest and the most realistic source of medical and health information. Health information management systems that require systems to the storage, retrieval, storage and elimination of health records (by law), and adjust to the rules of professional. These processes are difficult and time consuming for human. In the meantime semantic HIM seem best solution.
文摘Objective: To identify the informational needs of Moroccan women receiving intracavitary brachytherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer as part of a process to develop guidelines for quality patient-centered care. Guidelines with a patient-centered approach could thus be developed to be used as a tool to assist members of multidisciplinary teams in providing quality care to this group of women.

文摘Public libraries should be vigilant and responsive to the ever changing information needs of their clientele functioning in a society undergoing through rapid change due to technological innovations. Finally, our paper concludes its discussion with a few observation remarks about the changing trend of public libraries' visions, missions and operations vis-à-vis a contextual background of the ever heightened public expectations for getting quality information services in a timely manner in order for them to function effectively in an information-oriented society such as that of ours today.

文摘Hyper-connectivity in Industry 4.0 has resulted in not only a rapid increase in the amount of information, but also the expansion of areas and assets to be protected. In terms of information security,it has led to an enormous economic cost due to the various and numerous security solutions used in protecting the increased assets. Also,it has caused difficulties in managing those issues due to reasons such as mutual interference, countless security events and logs’data, etc.Within this security environment,an organization should identify and classify assets based on the value of data and their security perspective, and then apply appropriate protection measures according to the assets’security classification for effective security management. But there are still difficulties stemming from the need to manage numerous security solutions in order to protect the classified assets. In this paper,we propose an information classification management service based on blockchain, which presents and uses a model of the value of data and the security perspective. It records transactions of classifying assets and managing assets by each class in a distributed ledger of blockchain. The proposed service reduces assets to be protected and security solutions to be applied, and provides security measures at the platform level rather than individual security solutions,by using blockchain. In the rapidly changing security environment of Industry 4.0,this proposed service enables economic security, provides a new integrated security platform, and demonstrates service value.
文摘Sentiment analysis is the process of determining the intention or emotion behind an article. The subjective information from the context is analyzed by the sentimental analysis of the people’s opinion. The data that is analyzed quantifies the reactions or sentiments and reveals the information’s contextual polarity. In social behavior, sentiment can be thought of as a latent variable.Measuring and comprehending this behavior could help us to better understand the social issues.Because sentiments are domain specific, sentimental analysis in a specific context is critical in any real-world scenario.Textual sentiment analysis is done in sentence, document level and feature levels. This work introduces a new Information Gain based Feature Selection(IGbFS)algorithm for selecting highly correlated features eliminating irrelevant and redundant ones.Extensive textual sentiment analysis on sentence, document and feature levels are performed by exploiting the proposed Information Gain based Feature Selection algorithm. The analysis is done based on the datasets from Cornell and Kaggle repositories. When compared to existing baseline classifiers, the suggested Information Gain based classifier resulted in an increased accuracy of 96%for document,97.4%for sentence and 98.5%for feature levels respectively. Also, the proposed method is tested with IMDB,Yelp 2013 and Yelp 2014 datasets.Experimental results for these high dimensional datasets give increased accuracy of 95%,96%and 98%for the proposed Information Gain based classifier for document, sentence and feature levels respectively compared to existing baseline classifiers.
