The Existing Problems and Optimization Paths of Digital Textbooks Under Background of Internet

With the rapid development of information technology,the combination of terminal technology,big data and mobile Internet and textbooks has become an irresistible trend in the modern education field.Under the context of the Internet,carrying out education and teaching activities based on digital textbooks can give full play to the rich media,openness and interaction of digital textbooks,broaden students′horizon,enrich students′knowledge,and promote the improvement of students′ability and all-round development.However,in the specific teaching practice,there are also problems such as old compilation ideas,single compilation mode and low efficiency of personalized learning.Therefore,schools and teachers need to constantly innovate the presentation and arrangement of digital textbooks,strengthen technical support,deepen students′understanding of the teaching content of digital textbooks,promote the comprehensive development of students and improve the effectiveness of digital textbook teaching.

Issues and Countermeasures in Chinese FLTRP Primary School Textbooks under the New Curriculum Standard

The New Curriculum Standard(NCS)is the norm and quality requirement of the Chinese national educational curriculum as well as the basis of teaching management,curriculum evaluation,and textbook compilation.In textbook design,the selection of textbook materials should meet the objectives and requirements of the NCS.Since appropriate teaching materials are essential to curriculum standards and effective teaching,we must follow the consistency between textbook materials and curriculum standards to achieve an ideal degree of conformity with the textbook system and teaching objectives and promote the sustainable development of the English curriculum reform.However,the current primary school English textbooks fall short of the NCS,which leads to difficulties in implementing teaching tasks and achieving teaching goals.Given these difficulties,we should analyze the causes from three dimensions:linguistic knowledge,cultural awareness,and learning strategies.In addition,a high recurrence of phonetic knowledge,systematic grammar presentation,diversified learning styles,level grading,and in-depth involvement of cultural factors are keys to the perfect conformity of the NCS and English textbooks.

Measurement Analysis and Evaluation of Twenty- Five Years of Chinese Mathematics Textbooks: Visual Analysis Based on CiteSpace Knowledge Graph (1999-2024)

At present,textbooks based on core literacy have become the inevitable demands of China’s curriculum reform,and the literacy of textbook goal construction is the key to the implementation of core literacy requirements,which is a huge challenge for textbook compilers.In this paper,we use the visual metrology of the CiteSpace knowledge graph to analyze Chinese mathematics textbooks(1999-2024),hoping to guide the future direction of Chinese mathematics textbook research.

Research on Gymnastics Textbooks for Physical Education Major in Regular Colleges and Universities

As an important part of physical education in regular colleges and universities, gymnastics has played an active role in the development of physical education in colleges and universities. Gymnastics textbooks used in regular colleges and universities has experienced decades of development and needs to be revised and improved under the current physical education situation in colleges and universities, so as to make the content more suitable for needs of college students. This paper adopts literature review, comparative analysis and statistics analysis method to study on the existing gymnastics textbook for physical education major in regular colleges and universities in China by combing development of textbook, summarizing the content and structure, exploring problems existing in the design of textbook in recent years, and then proposing certain improvement suggestions on gymnastics textbook for physical education major.

Cultural and Socio-economical Dimensions a- Human Reproduction and Sex Education in the Biology Textbooks of Eight Countries

This study was carried out within the European research project ＂Biology, Health and Environmental Education for Better Citizenship＂. It is a comparative analysis of textbooks from eight Mediterranean countries which differ by their cultures, their socio-economical levels, and their religions. This work is focused on the sensitive educational topic ＂Human Reproduction and Sex Education＂. And 43 biology textbooks are analyzed among eight countries： four are in Europe and four in Africa and Middle East. Grids were built to identify implicit values in the texts and images. It is a more precisely explicit or implicit presence of cultural, socio-economical, and ethical dimensions. The investigation concerns whether the authors of textbooks present differently this theme depending on the socio-cultural, ethical, and religious contexts. The content of the textbooks was analyzed as reflecting the conceptions of their authors and publishers. The outcomes of the analyses show that several textbooks present images of human beings restricted to only one ethnic type, usually white-skinned and with fair hair. The social, cultural, economical, and ethical dimensions were generally absent, except for some interest for them in few European textbooks.

The Current Situation and Counter Measures of Compilation of English Literature Textbooks in the Context of New Liberal Arts

With the promulgation of the“National Quality Standards for Undergraduate Teaching of Foreign Languages and Literatures in General Institutions of Higher Education”and“Teaching Guidelines”in 2018,the humanistic attributes of English majors and the important position of literature in foreign language learning are emphasized.Nowadays,the English literature curriculum is facing the problems of marginalization,reduction of class hours,simplification of curriculum and so on.Then in the context of the new liberal arts,it provides a new way to break through the dilemma of the literature curriculum.The study has collected the use of teaching materials of British and American literature courses in some colleges and universities across the country.Based on the survey results,the compilation of teaching materials in the new era should consider how to adapt to students’deep learning,autonomous learning,cross learning and research-based learning to provide guidance and support.The diversity of learning requires us to break the monotony of textbook compilation,show diversity and complement each other.

What Users and Uses of Englishes are Represented in the English Textbooks in China

To explore the representation of users and uses of Englishes in the textbooks,a series of English textbooks for junior high school in China were examined in this study.Findings from analysis of representations of users and uses of Englishes were presented.The results show that China,the UK and the US are dominant in the representations of users.Outer circle countries and expanding countries(other than China)have no clear representations.

The Role and Positioning of Digital Textbooks in Vocational Education in Relation to Teachers

In recent years,with the rapid advancement of digital technologies,digitization in vocational education has become a major trend.Among these advancements,digital textbooks have emerged at the forefront of digitization,significantly impacting both their form and content.This article aims to analyze the existing issues in the use of digital textbooks in vocational education and emphasize the importance of recognizing the vital role of teachers in the wave of digital textbook innovation.It is crucial to clarify the role and positioning of teachers to avoid inadvertently diminishing their classroom significance while prioritizing technological innovations.Teachers should fully leverage the role of digital textbooks as tools for organizing classroom activities and recognize the core and essence of classroom teaching as digital technologies enter the scope of vocational education.By doing so,teachers can contribute to the high-quality development of modern vocational education.

A Content Analysis Study Describing Information Regarding Female Genital Mutilation Present in US Medical Textbooks

This study examines the depth of information regarding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)/Female Cutting (FC) present in US medical textbooks. According to Klein et al. (2018) [1], despite substantial attention regarding the effects of FGM, this practice is still ongoing all over the world. Healthcare providers are very important actors who need to understand FGM in order to provide care to girls and women subjected to it, but the small amount of existing work in this area shows a low level of knowledge and training about FGM/FC among U.S. physicians. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) first published the estimated number of girls at risk of FGM/FC in the U.S. to be about 168,000 in 1997;that number had increased to 513,000 girls in the US by 2012 (according to Goldberg et al.) In this study, a small sample of medical textbooks were analyzed for the degree to which the textbooks include information regarding FGM/FC. The results of this study show that US medical textbooks do not include information regarding FGM/FC, suggesting that most medical providers don’t have knowledge and training about FGM/FC. The inadequate information on FGM/FC in medical textbooks reflects a culturally biased lack of recognition of the number of girls and women affected in the US. This maintains an ongoing pattern of silence that reinforces gender inequality. Considering the inadequate information covered in US medical textbooks on FGM/FC, and the concordant lack of provider training to provide advice and care to affected girls and women, incorrect and missed diagnoses may lead to harm to victims of FGM/FC. Providers would be better equipped to care for women and girls if their medical training included information regarding FGM/FC.

The Islamic Religion in Course Curriculums of High School History Textbooks in the Republic of Macedonia

History textbooks can and primarily should contribute to the strengthening of students’awareness of universal human values.However,history textbooks can also deepen the divisions,prejudices,and uncritical attitudes,contrary to the goals of education.The youth population,which is still building and creating their point of view towards the world is the main group in the education process.The learning period,in the elementary,as well as in the secondary education is of utmost importance for the development of every human.To that end,history,through the contents of the past largely shapes our perceptions of every individual,ourselves,and the others.Since we are living in a multiethnic and multi-confessional society,I have decided to conduct an analysis of the teaching contents of high school textbooks related to religion.Another reason for the analysis is the role of religion in the formation of Balkan nations,which have made it one of the key elements of their national identities.It is often given the role of raising and strengthening the national awareness,patriotism,as well as the country homogeneity,which most often leads to forming prejudices,divisions,and discrimination towards people of minority religions.The large volume of content related to the religion,and also the mere fact that Muslims are the second largest religion group in the population,I have decided to analyze the contents which are related only to the Islamic religion.The goal is to look for both the positive and negative sides of those contents in history textbooks in secondary schools,which are backed by state institutions that are supposed to take care of the development of competitive,creative,progressive,and ethically formed human potential.The critical review will give an additional impulse to the efforts of eliminating those parts of the teaching contents that create divisions and prejudices,especially in history textbooks,so that its studying can become the key factor in the building of trust between people of different religions.

Exploration and Research on Textbook Quality Evaluation Index System Based on Engineering Major in Higher Education

The report of the Chinese 20th National Congress put forward“strengthening the construction and management of textbooks”for the first time,which indicates the importance of textbook construction and highlights the vital position of textbooks in the overall development of the country.From the perspective of textbook quality,and based on the research and analysis of the policy requirements and current evaluation indicators of higher education textbooks,this paper establishes the textbook quality evaluation index system composed of basic indicators and evaluation indicators.This system is based on the principles of science,comprehensiveness,operability,and target-oriented approach.It provides a relatively scientific,objective,and fair reference system for the management and evaluation of textbooks.

Knowledge Graph Analysis of International Chinese Language Textbooks Based on CiteSpace

Drawing upon relevant papers from Chinese core journals and CSSCI source journals in the CNKI China Academic Journals Full-Text Database spanning from 1992 to 2023,this study utilizes CiteSpace as a research tool to visually analyze the knowledge graph structure of research on international Chinese language textbooks in China.The study maps out the publication timeline,authors,institutions,collaborative networks,and keywords pertaining to research on international Chinese language textbooks.The findings indicate that research on international Chinese language textbooks commenced early and continues to maintain a certain level of research interest,yet lacks sufficient research output.Research institutions predominantly reside in universities and publishing groups specializing in language or education,with collaboration between institutions being relatively scarce.High-frequency keywords in recent research on international Chinese language textbooks include“Chinese language textbooks for the Foreigners,”“Chinese language textbooks,”“Teaching Chinese Language for the Foreigners,”“Textbook compilation,”“International Chinese Language Education and Localization,”which reflect a diversified research perspective with interdisciplinary trends.Future research priorities encompass research on localization,customization of textbooks,and evaluation of textbooks which represent forefront directions of research.

美国创客教育教材分析——以“Design and Discovery”为例

在"大众创业、万众创新"的大背景下,创客教育被作为一种有助于培养学生创新精神与创造能力的重要教育模式引入到中小学教育之中。而作为这种教育模式重要载体的教材,则是彰显创客教育品质的重要标志。教材中所含纳和传递的教育理念与教学模式,将在很大程度上影响创客教育的人才培养实效。研究表明,我国创客教育的相关教材有较强的"技术本位"倾向,而在思维品质与创造能力的提升上均缺乏应有作为。为此,该文以美国INTEL ENGAGE项目推出的"Design and Discovery"(简称为DD)教材为例,从该教材的教学目标、教学内容、教学方法、教学活动四个维度,对DD教材进行定量与定性相结合的分析,得出该教材具有教学目标多元化、注重能力导向;教学内容实用化、注重创客原生领域的知识挖掘;教学活动多样化、关注创客常态化的运作模式;采用基于项目的学习与基于设计的教学方法,聚焦学生过程性知识习得四个层面的分析结论,并以此做基础为我国的创客教材研发提供建设性意见。

Cultural Components in EFL Textbooks

Textbooks, as one of the important elements for the teaching effects and students' training aim and quality are the main carri-er and means for the realization of teaching objectives. The paper analyzes the problems of currently-used textbooks at the followingthree aspects, textbook users, compiling styles and contents, based on 31 popular English writing textbooks used at Polytechnics as re-search subjects. Textbook outcomes in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery

The concept of textbook outcome (TO) has recently gained popularity in surgicalresearch and has been used to evaluate the quality or success of different surgicalprocedures, including hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) operations. TO consists ofindividual outcome parameters that each reflect different domains of careincluding structure, process, and individual outcomes;in turn, the composite TOmetric represents the optimal course after a surgical episode. TO can be used toassess patient-level outcomes, hospital performance, center designation andquality metrics. In addition to being an outcome measurement, TO may also belinked to healthcare costs. Future efforts should be directed towards establishing auniversal definition of TO in HPB surgery so that surgeons and hospitals canassess and compare outcomes, identify shortcomings and improve real worldpatient outcomes.

Textbook Outcome as a measure of surgical quality assessment and prognosis in gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma:A large multicenter sample analysis

Objective:Quality assurance is crucial for oncological surgical treatment assessment.For rare diseases,singlequality indicators are not enough.We aim to develop a comprehensive and reproducible measurement,called the"Textbook Outcome"(TO),to assess the quality of surgical treatment and prognosis of gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma(G-NEC)patients.Methods:Data from patients with primary diagnosed G-NEC included in 24 high-volume Chinese hospitals from October 2005 to September 2018 were analyzed.TO included receiving a curative resection,≥15 lymph nodes examined,no severe postoperative complications,hospital stay≤21 d,and no hospital readmission≤30 d after discharge.Hospital variation in TO was analyzed using a case mix-adjusted funnel plot.Prognostic factors of survival and risk factors for non-Textbook Outcome(non-TO)were analyzed using Cox and logistic models,respectively.Results:TO was achieved in 56.6%of 860 G-NEC patients.TO patients had better overall survival(OS),disease-free survival(DFS),and recurrence-free survival(RFS)than non-TO patients(P<0.05).Moreover,TO patients accounted for 60.3%of patients without recurrence.Multivariate Cox analysis revealed non-TO as an independent risk factor for OS,DFS,and RFS of G-NEC patients(P<0.05).Increasing TO rates were associated with improved OS for G-NEC patients,but not hospital volume.Multivariate logistic regression revealed that nonlower tumors,open surgery,and>200 mL blood loss were independent risk factors for non-TO patients(P<0.05).Conclusions:TO is strongly associated with multicenter surgical quality and prognosis for G-NEC patients.Factors predicting non-TO are identified,which may help guide strategies to optimize G-NEC outcomes.
