Towards a Framework for Evaluating Technologies for Implementing Microservices Architectures

Microservice architecture is an architectural style, which allows structuring software as a suite of fine-grained services, each running in its process and deployed independently. Knowing the strengths and limitations of this architectural style, the development team is responsible to select the appropriate technologies which guarantee the consistency between the implementation and the design. This study proposes an evaluation framework which consists of a set of evaluation criteria that are architectural patterns recognized by the community and covering all the implementation aspects of software;and an evaluation function which combines these criteria for a given technology to determine its compatibility score with the microservice style, while taking into account the specific requirements of the software under development. Applying this approach to Spring Boot and JAVA EE technologies, we found that Spring Boot scores 96.3% while JAVA EE scores 44.4%. These scores reflect the effort required to conform software with the principles of this development style.

The research contributes valuable insights into the challenges and benefits of adopting Microservices in DXPs. Results highlight the importance of architectural patterns and strategic scaling dimensions for improved performance and scalability. The case study on Backbase’s Engagement Banking Platform showcases successful implementation, providing flexibility, integration, and efficient development in the evolving DXP landscape.

Event-based Implicit Invocation Decentralized in Ada

Nowadays more and more attraction is drawn by the event based implicit invocation one of useful architectural patterns, because of its loose coupling between components in the architecture and reactive integration in software systems. Analyzing object oriented interaction with objects, this paper, based upon the principle of software architecture, presents an approach on event based object model with Ada exception handler. Towards a self-adaptive service-oriented methodology based on extended SOMA

We propose a self-adaptive process （SAP） that maintains the software architecture quality using the MAPE-K standard model. The proposed process can be plugged into various software development processes and service-oriented meth- odologies due to its explicitly defined inputs and outputs. To this aim, the proposed SAP is integrated with the service-oriented modeling and application （SOMA） methodology in a two-layered structure to create a novel methodology, named self-adaptive service-oriented architecture methodology （SASOAM）, which provides a semi-automatic self-aware method by the composition of architectural tactics. Moreover, the maintenance activity of SOMA is improved using architectural and adaptive patterns, which results in controlling the software architecture quality. The improvement in the maintainability of SOMA is demonstrated by an analytic hierarchy process （AHP） based evaluation method. Furthermore, the proposed method is applied to a case study to represent the feasibility and practicality of SASOAM.
