Research on the Impact of Western Art upon Chinese Artists Wu Guanzhong and Zao Wou-ki in the 20th Century

World War II led to a reallocation of many countries’political roles.Some nations got stronger after the war while others lost their past advantages and became less powerful.During the post-war period,many genres of art schools were established,first in Europe followed by America and then Asia,resulting in a collision between China and the West as Western art served to inspire Chinese art.This study examines the works of Wu Guanzhong and Zao Wou-ki and discusses how post-war Western art had influenced Chinese art and what changes had been brought to artistic styles of Chinese art.

“liberal arts”的源与流——古今之变中的审视

“古今之变”是审视liberal arts流变的中心线索。古典liberal arts是具有内在统一性并指向完满品格的整全性知识体系。欧洲三次文艺复兴对liberal arts的再造展现了其历史流变中的不变逻辑,即为特定时代的受教育者提供共同价值。德国古典大学赋予了liberal arts在古典意义上的完美形态,而新人文主义的自我塑造观念孕育了博雅教育的现代转向。科学革命终结了古典学术的内在统一性与道德理想,瓦解了古典liberal arts。美国现代大学则借助古典资源,经由三次改革浪潮重建了liberal arts。然而,古典教育凝聚文明精华的共同价值、塑造意义与学术整合力量,同现代科学的智识自由、价值分殊与学科分化特性相冲突,这是古今之变为现代大学再造liberal arts所深植的困境,liberal arts只能在钟摆的两端之间不断权衡。

医护-社会组织一体化模式对HIV/AIDS患者ART及自我管理能力的影响

探究接受高效抗反转录病毒治疗确诊HIV/AIDS患者接受医护-社会组织一体化模式干预价值。方法 从2022年1月至2022年12月南昌市某定点医院接受抗病毒治疗及随访管理的新确诊HIV/AIDS患者100例,50例接受传统医护合作模式对照组、50例接受医护-社会组织一体化模式观察组,两组各项临床指标差异进行分析对比(从HIV抗体初筛阳性到启动ART治疗时间、抗病毒治疗一年后HIV病毒载量的指标及病毒抑制率、抗病毒治疗一年后自我管理能力)。结果 干预后与对照组比较,观察组HIV抗体初筛阳性到启动ART治疗时间显著偏低,HIV病毒载量指标水平显著偏低,病毒抑制率显著偏高,一年后自我管理能力评分显著偏高,用药依从性显著偏高(P<0.05)。结论 接受抗病毒治疗及随访管理的确诊HIV/AIDS患者接受医护-社会组织一体化模式干预后,可显著提高患者自我管理能力。此外,还能保障高病毒抑制率,缩短患者治疗时间,提升患者用药依从性。

The Effect of Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) on Body Composition and Clinical Markers of Lipodystrophy in HIV-Infected Children Assessed in Follow-Up Study

Objectives: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has been associated with lipodystrophy in children. We evaluated changes in various anthropometric measurements for the assessment of lipodystrophy and assessed whether there was an association with use of protease inhibitors (PI), non-PI containing ART and/or stavudine (d4T). Methods: Eighty-five HIV-infected children attending the HIV clinic at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) were included. The average follow-up was 8.4 months (range 3 - 12 months). Body fat redistribution was assessed by anthropometric measurements including skinfold thickness and circumferences of upper and lower limbs. Measurements were converted to age- and sex-adjusted z-scores through development stages including puberty. Results: Sixty children had taken ART;37 received PI-containing;38 received d4T;25 had never been treated. In the studied population, clinically important changes with decreases in biceps (BSF), subscapular skinfolds and total body fat (4SFT) over period of 12 months were observed. Some increase was noticed in triceps skinfolds (TSF). Limbs circumferences remained at the same level. Further we looked at 4 months basis changes in anthropometric measurements stratified by baseline ART. Generally z-scores of anthropometric measurements were lower in therapy naive children when compared to ART groups. PI-based ART regimens resulted in significant increases in BSF with a trend towards increases in TSF, suprailiac and 4SFT. Mid-arm and thigh circumferences were higher in PI compared to naive group. Similarly, significant changes in BSF z-scores were associated with d4T use. Increases were seen in TSF and mid-arm circumference and decreases were observed in subscapular skinfolds and calf circumference z-scores. Conclusions: Body fat redistribution in HIV-infected children with sub-clinical lipodystrophy could be detected by anthropometric measurements, particularly when PI or d4T is included in ART. Over time, changes with increase in arm and trunk fat, and no change or decrease in leg fat were more pronounced among ART-receiving children.

Semen Abnormality Patterns and Parameters in Male Partners of Infertile Couples in Dakar (Senegal)

Introduction: Inter individual variation for semen on analysis is well known. Therefore, Semen profile is not the same in individuals from different geographic locations, environments, ways of life, and populations. It is important for a laboratory to have an idea of the semen profile of its population, especially for those who present with infertility. The aim of this study was to draw the pattern of semen abnormalities in male partner of infertile couple in Dakar, Senegal. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study of all the semen samples of male partners of infertile couples submitted for analysis in the laboratory of Cytogenetic and Reproductive Biology of Dakar at the University Teaching hospital from January 2013 to June 2014. Results: A total of 262 male semen analyses were reported. Analysis was performed according to WHO, 2010 manual for examination of human semen. Our study reveals that 80.9% of men in infertile couples present an abnormality in sperm pattern. The main one is oligo-astheno-terato-necrozoospermia (20.2%), followed by azoospermia, (14.1%), astheno-necrospermia (10.3%) and astheno-terato-necro-zoospermia (10.3%). Leucocytospermia was found in 57.8%. Teratozoospermia (80.9%) was the most associated abnormality, followed by necrozoospermia (76.2%). Low sperm count under 5 million per ml concerned 27.7% of the patients, and 11.2% patients had low ejaculate volume. Nearly 42.1% of the male partners are potential candidates for Assisted Reproductive Technology for male infertility. Conclusion: The high rate of semen abnormality in patients of infertile couples and consequently the high rate of potential candidates to Assisted Reproductive Technology for male infertility are important reasons for taking into account rigorously the male subject if we want to improve fertility rate in our context. The pattern of the specific abnormalities found is precious clues to guide management of these patients.

HIV-1 Viral Load and CD4 Assessment in HIV-1 Infected Pregnant Women Supported as Part of PMTCT in N’Djamena, Chad

In Sub-Saharan Africa, HIV affects lots of women of childbearing age;without prevention they can transmit the virus to their child. A cross-sectional study was conducted in the center of Psycho Medico-Social Support (APMS) in N’Djamena, Chad from January 2014 to March 2015. Our sampling concerned HIV-1 infected pregnant women followed up for PMTCT and their newborn. CD4+ lymphocytes and HIV-1 viral load were tested respectively with PIMATM and Abbott m2000 Real Time in mothers. Early infant diagnosis of HIV-1 was done in Children using PCR tool (Abbott m2000 Real Time). Pregnant women included in the study had a median age of 25 years (IQR, 22 - 30 years). Most of them (75.6%) (34/45), were under combination ART (TDF + 3TC or FTC + EFV). The median duration on ART was 4 month (IQR [3 - 5 months]). Nevirapine syrup was administrated to newborns as prophylaxis at least for the first six weeks of life until EID was done. At ART initiation, mothers’ LTCD4+ median was 249 cells/mm3 (IQR: 95 - 674 cells/mm3). After a median duration of 4 months on ART, LTCD4+ median was 530 cells/mm3 (IQR [263 - 1220 cells/mm3]). Viral load assessment in mothers showed that 15.5% (7/45) were undetectable, 75.6% (34/45) were detectable with a VL < 3log copies/ml and 8.8% (4/45) at virologic failure (VL > 3log copies/ ml). Four (11.4%) of 35 children included were tested positive at EID for HIV-1. Antiretroviral treatment management in pregnant women can improve their health and reduce the risk of MTCT. Availability of virologic monitoring in routine is essential for pregnant women in resources limited setting for preventing HIV transmission to their new-born and keep them alive.

The Modernization of Traditional Chinese Opera and a Local Perspective of Local Operas:A Case Study of the Research on the Yisu Art Troupe by Li Youjun and Guo Hongjun

From both historical and artistic points of view,Qinqiang Opera can be considered a significant genre outside the realms of Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera.The research on Qinqiang Opera has long been a focal point in the research on local operas with particular emphasis from a local perspective of the Yisu Art Troupe,a key and hot topic in the studies of Qinqiang Opera.Taking the Yisu Art Troupe as a case study to scrutinize and address the intricacies within the process of modernization of traditional Chinese opera proved to be beneficial.Since the 20th century,studies on the Yisu Art Troupe have evolved from scattered and impressionistic self-narratives into systematic and theoretical academic research.In the new century,scholars,such as Xin Xuefeng,Li Youjun,and Guo Hongjun,have been especially diligent with studies in this field.As Xin Xuefeng is relatively unknown due to his emphasis on traditional opera music,Li Youjun and Guo Hongjun have gradually emerged as important contemporary scholars in the study of the Yisu Art Troupe.Guo and Li not only further theorize the study of the Yisu Art Troupe but also conduct in-depth and meticulous studies on the nature of the Yisu Art Troupe,the establishment of the director-centered mode in Qinqiang Opera,the social function,and the playwriting of the Yisu Art Troupe by examining and reflecting it within the broader context of the modernization of traditional Chinese opera in the 20th century.

CD4+ T-Cell Count, Serum Zinc, Copper and Selenium Levels in HIV Sero-Positive Subjects on ART and ART Naïve Subjects in Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Background: HIV infection results in depletion of immunocompetent cells such as CD4+ T-cells. Trace elements such as Copper, Zinc and selenium are known to be involved in immune function. In recent times, HIV-positive patients are treated with antiretroviral therapy (ART), with significant progress. This study was aimed at evaluating CD4+ T-cells levels, serum Copper, Zinc and Selenium levels in HIV seropositive subjects on ART and ART naive subjects (HIV positive subjects that have not started ART treatment) in Rivers State, Nigeria. Methods: 150 subjects aged 20 to 79 years were recruited after informed consent. 70 subjects were HIV-positive on ART, 30 subjects were HIV-positive ART naïve subjects, while 50 subjects were apparently healthy subjects. Ten (10) milliliters of blood was collected using a standard venipuncture technique from each subject for the analysis of CD4 T-cells using BD fluorescent activated cell sorter (FACSC count), serum Copper and Zinc were analyzed colorimetrically using semi auto-analyzer WP 21E, while selenium was analyzed using atomic absorption spectrophotometer ELICO, SL173. Data generated were analyzed using Graph-Pad Prism version 8.0.2 and p Result: This study revealed a significant reduction in mean zinc, selenium and CD4+ T-cell level respectively (p = 0.0006;0.0001;0.0001) in HIV-Positive subjects on ART and ART naive. There was also a significant increase in mean serum copper level in the HIV-positive subject as compared to control subjects (p = 0.0001). ART treatment improved the CD4+ T cell count and serum levels of selenium and zinc;however, ART did not correct the imbalance. Furthermore, female subjects on ART have a significantly higher CD4+ T-cell count than the males (p Conclusion: Selenium and Zinc deficiency are associated with HIV disease despite the role of ART hence micronutrient supplementation is advised for HIV-positive subjects on ART.
