From both historical and artistic points of view,Qinqiang Opera can be considered a significant genre outside the realms of Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera. The research on Qinqiang Opera has long been a focal point in the research on local operas with particular emphasis from a local perspective of the Yisu Art Troupe,a key and hot topic in the studies of Qinqiang Opera.Taking the Yisu Art Troupe as a case study to scrutinize and address the intricacies within the process of modernization of traditional Chinese opera proved to be beneficial.Since the 20th century, studies on the Yisu Art Troupe have evolved from scattered and impressionistic self-narratives into systematic and theoretical academic research. In the new century, scholars, such as Xin Xuefeng,Li Youjun, and Guo Hongjun, have been especially diligent with studies in this field. As Xin Xuefeng is relatively unknown due to his emphasis on traditional opera music,Li Youjun and Guo Hongjun have gradually emerged as important contemporary scholars in the study of the Yisu Art Troupe.Guo and Li not only further theorize the study of the Yisu Art Troupe but also conduct in-depth and meticulous studies on the nature of the Yisu Art Troupe, the establishment of the director-centered mode in Qinqiang Opera, the social function, and the playwriting of the Yisu Art Troupe by examining and reflecting it within the broader context of the modernization of traditional Chinese opera in the 20th century. 展开更多

Because their endocrine system is not yet developmentally mature, adolescent girls are prone to dysfunctional uterine bleeding caused by insufficiency of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. The view of modern medicine is mainly aimed at the secretory function of sex hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone. However,it causes distress to patients because of the susceptibility of their treatment to endocrine system disorders.Traditional Chinese medicine considers the damage to the function of the Conception Vessel and Thoroughfare Vessel as the key to the disease. In this way,we guide the use of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture and achieve good results. The pathogenesis and management of functional uterine bleeding in adolescence are discussed from two medical perspectives in this article. 展开更多

FSince 250 years ago i.e. when industrial revolution made human extract and exploit non-renewable energy sources rapidly, dependence on these energy sources has increased. Despite the important role of these sources of energy in mankind progress, their destructive impacts on human life should be considered and traditional environment saving methods have been proposed again. In the old ages, buildings were constructed corresponding to their climate and environment. However, after emergence of modern architecture, everything changed environmental elements which made life beautiful, like wind, sunlight and rain and dependence on mechanical ventilation systems increased rapidly. Therefore, it is clear that traditional solutions should also be changed along with modern considerations, just as traditional louvers have been replaced by modern solar louvers. This study deals with an important ventilation element i.e. traditional louver in warm and arid areas and the way it has been changed and applied in contemporary buildings. 展开更多

The provisioning of health and well-being for every human being on the planet calls for a rethink of conventional medical practices. In both the developed as well as developing world contexts, there is a growing need to rejuvenate alternative medical systems, but they have to be modernized to have cross-cultural appeal and acceptance. This paper explores the clash between Western medicine and Indian traditional medicine in 19th century colonial India which offers a historical precedent that could hold key lessons to the spread of traditional medicine across the world. The paper argues that the British government used biomedicine as a political tool to dominate Indians and resistance from Indian practitioners of traditional systems of medicines(TSMs)was systematically put down through policy measures. However,it was the clash between the medical modalities that transformed Indian TSMs forever as systems such as Ayurveda(the science of life)and Yoga took on the challenge and modernized and continue to have global appeal. The paper compares Indian and Chinese medical systems and argues that similarities in theory and practice in two different historical contexts,19th century India and modern-day China, enable us to understand the relevance of modernization practices in our contemporary world. 展开更多

Aggressive angiomyxoma(AAM)is a rare soft tissue tumor.Invasiveness and recurrence are important clinical features of AAM.A patient with recurrent AAM was admitted to the hospital. At present, the treatment for AAM is still based on surgery because it does not have lymph nodes and distant metastasis. Moreover, chemotherapy is of little significance.Traditional Chinese medicine believes the formation of tumor is related to blood stasis,so after surgery,a Chinese medicine called Xue-Shuan-Tong was used to improve blood circulation and disperses stasis. The drainage tube was removed on the 5th day after the operation and achieved a good wound healing. This article analyzes and demonstrates the pathogenesis of female vulvar invasive angiomyxoma from the perspective of modern medicine and traditional medicine,in order to provide a better understanding of the disease. 展开更多

Following the trend of information technology, the development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)databases has led to great changes in terms of data. For example, the storage and dissemination medium of data has achieved a shift from paper books to the internet, and the content has expanded from basic information to comprehensive information such as targets and molecular structures of modern medicine. In recent years, the amount of information contained in the TCM databases has grown at an unparalleled rate. However, there are still challenges correlated with the database construction, including insufficient data volume, inconsistent construction standards, and a low level of platformization.Additionally, the prevalence of applications in the field of TCM like network pharmacology, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence requires a large volume of high-quality data.Generally speaking, the advancements in life science and artificial intelligence technology have outpaced the development of TCM databases. Therefore, this paper compiled the current status of TCM databases, discussed the benefits and drawbacks of various databases, and concluded that the development trend should be comprehensive,platform-based,and tightly integrated with modern life science technology and artificial intelligence technology,so as to provide assistance to the modernization research of TCM. 展开更多

As one of the most significant critical essays of T.S.Eliot,Tradition and Individual Talent has defined writing as a process during which the primitive oneness has seized the individual writer of figurative descriptions to help represent itself. This theory has latter been practiced in Eliot’s Wasteland, and shows its similarity with The Birth of Tragedy, written by Friedrick Nietzsche, the German philosopher.Eliot’s‘tradition’has been concluded by Nietzsche as‘Dionysian Spirit’,which represents oneness transcending good and evil, past and present, while‘individual talent’has resembled‘Apollonian Spirit’in the urge for original figuration as an apparatus. The paper aims to explain and compare the definitions of‘tradition’and‘individual talent’of Eliot’s work with that of‘Dionysian spirit’and‘Apollonian Spirit’in Nietzsche’s illustrations,so as to provide a deeper understanding of these two works by unveiling the individual and social sameness and difference of Eliot and Nietzsche. 展开更多
