The application of the strip-shaped cymba conchae orthosis in the nonsurgical correction of complex auricular deformity

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of using a strip-shaped cymba conchae orthosis for the nonsurgical correction of complex auricular deformities. Methods: Clinical data were collected from 2020 to 2021 for 6 patients who underwent correction using a stripshaped cymba conchae orthosis. The indications, corrective effects, and complications associated with use of the orthosis were analyzed. Results: There were four indications for treatment: cryptotia with helix adhesion;cryptotia with grade I microtia;cryptotia with excessive helix thickness;and auricular deformity beyond the treatment time window(≥6 months). Excellent corrective effects were observed in all 6 patients. Complications occurred in one patient, who recovered after symptomatic treatment. Conclusion: The use of a strip-shaped cymba conchae orthosis alone or combined with a U-shaped helix orthosis presents a feasible approach for correcting complex auricular deformities or deformities beyond the treatment time window in pediatric patients.

Ear keloid and epidermal cyst following auricular cartilage harvest for rhinoplasty:A case report

BACKGROUND This case report highlights a rare instance of concurrent keloid and epidermal cyst development at an ear cartilage harvest site following rhinoplasty in a 25-year-old woman.Both conditions,which typically stem from skin trauma,seldom occur together,demonstrating the exceptional characteristics of this case.CASE SUMMARY The patient underwent successful surgical removal of both the keloid and the epidermal cyst.Postoperative treatment included the use of silicone sheets,gel,and oral tranilast to reduce scarring.No recurrence was observed over a 6-mo follow-up period,indicating effective management of the condition.CONCLUSION The effective management of complex skin trauma cases underscores the need for individualized treatment strategies in plastic surgery.

Application of an electrophysiological technique combined with auricular acupuncture in gynecological perioperative gastrointestinal dysfunction

Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of combining low-frequency pulsed electrophysiological techniques with auricular acupuncture(a fusion of traditional Chinese and Western medicine)for patients experiencing perioperative gastrointestinal dysfunction(POGD)following gynecological surgery.Methods:Eighty patients undergoing gynecological surgery were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group.Both groups received enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)care,with the experimental group receiving additional treatment combining electrophysiology and auricular acupuncture.Postoperative recovery indicators,including bowel sound recovery time,time to first exhaust and defecation,duration and incidence of abdominal pain and distension,nausea and vomiting,and specific gastrointestinal markers(HSP70,I-FABP,DAO,D-lactate),were monitored and compared between the two groups.Results:After treatment,the postoperative bowel sound recovery time,first postoperative exhaust time,duration of abdominal pain,and duration of abdominal distension were shorter in the experimental group than in the control group(P<0.05).The 6-hour and 48-hour integral values of the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group.In the experimental group,60%of the patients were completely cured of gastrointestinal function after surgery,whereas only 32.5%of the patients in the control group were cured.The main symptom scores(abdominal pain,abdominal distension,nausea and vomiting)on the third postoperative day and the total symptom scores on the third postoperative day were significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group(P<0.05).The values of HSP70,I-FABP,DAO,and D-lactate in the experimental group on postoperative day one were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of the Chinese and Western medicine ERAS programs of low-frequency pulse electrophysiology technology plus auricular acupuncture can accelerate local gastrointestinal blood circulation during the perioperative period of gynecology,promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function,promote anal exhaustion,and prevent the occurrence of postoperative abdominal pain and bloating.The combination of Chinese and Western medicine ERAS can increase gastrointestinal fluid secretion,increase gastrointestinal hormone and blood flow values,increase gastrointestinal electrophysiological detection values,and change the indicators of gastrointestinal dysfunction.

Effect of Head Meridian Massage Combined with Auricular Acupoint Plaster on Patients with Insomnia

Objective:To study the effect of head meridian massage combined with auricular acupoint plasters on patients with insomnia.Methods:The sample consisted of 50 cases,and all of them were admitted to Yixing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to December 2023.The patients were divided into an observation group and a control group,with 25 cases in each group.The observation group was treated with a combination of head meridian massage and auricular acupoint plaster while the control group underwent conventional nursing care.The improvement of sleep quality and nursing effect were used as evaluation criteria to compare the clinical effects of the nursing programs.Results:After nursing intervention,the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)score of the observation group,which was 7.17±1.41 points was lower than that of the control group(9.04±1.96 points),(t=3.8724,P<0.05).The total efficacy was 96.00%for the observation group and 76.00%for the control group(2=4.1528,P<0.05).Conclusion:Head meridian massage combined with auricular acupoint can improve the sleep quality of patients with insomnia.

Evaluation of the Efficacy of Auricular Acupoint Pressure Patch Combined with Modified Huangqi Decoction in Treating Diabetic Nephropathy

Objective:To explore the efficacy of auricular acupoint pressure patch combined with modified Huangqi Decoction in treating diabetic nephropathy.Methods:60 patients with diabetic nephropathy treated in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected for this study.The patients were randomly divided into two groups using the random number table method,with 30 patients in each group.Among them,the control group was treated with conventional Western medicine,while the experimental group was treated with auricular acupoint pressure patches combined with modified Huangqi Decoction.The patients’fasting blood glucose(FPG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2hPG),glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c),urinary protein quantification,urea nitrogen(BUN),serum creatinine(SCr),and other indicators were detected and recorded before and after treatment.Results:Before treatment,there was no statistically significant difference in the FPG,the 2hPG,and the HbA1c between the two groups of patients(P>0.05);after treatment,the FPG,the 2hPG,and the HbA1c of the patients in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment,there was no statistically significant difference in the urinary protein quantification,the BUN,and the SCr between the two groups of patients(P>0.05);after treatment,the urinary protein quantification,BUN,and SCr of the patients in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The experimental group showed better improvement in symptoms such as fatigue,backache,and frequency of nocturia(P<0.05).Conclusion:Auricular acupoint pressure patch combined with modified Huangqi Decoction effectively treats diabetic nephropathy and it helps control blood sugar and renal function indicators and improve clinical symptoms,therefore improving the patients’quality of life.

耳穴压豆联合磁刺激治疗产后压力性尿失禁临床观察

目的探究耳穴压豆联合磁刺激治疗产后压力性尿失禁的效果。方法选取潜江市中心医院2021年1月—2022年6月收治的产后压力性尿失禁患者60例作为研究对象,按照治疗方式的不同分为对照组、研究组,各30例。对照组予耳穴压豆治疗,研究组予耳穴压豆联合磁刺激治疗。比较两组临床疗效及治疗后盆底肌力、60 min漏尿量、3 d漏尿次数、生活质量评分。结果研究组治疗总有效率为96.67%(29/30),高于对照组的80.00%(24/30)(P<0.05)。治疗后,研究组盆底肌肌力、生活质量评分均高于对照组,60 min漏尿量、3 d漏尿次数均低于对照组(P<0.05)。结论耳穴压豆联合磁刺激治疗产后压力性尿失禁的临床效果显著,不仅能够缓解盆底肌肌力、降低漏尿量及漏尿次数,还能促进产妇生活质量提高,缓解焦虑、降低压力,值得临床推广使用。

RAPD analysis of genetic diversity of nine strains of Auricularia auricular cultivated in Heilongjiang Province

Polymorphism of nine strains （CF05, CF09, 29, 916, AU9, Chang10, Chang7, 8808 and AU. Japanese） of A. auricular cultivated in Heilongjiang Province were analyzed by RAPD （Random Amplication polymorphic DNA）. Thirteen primers were selected from forty PCR primers with 10bp long random primer. The results showed that nine strains of A. auricular have a high level of genetic diversity and the percentage of DNA polymorphic was 96.05. The genotypes of 9 strains of Auricularia auricular were identified by the fingerprints from primer 27 and primer 46 by RAPD analysis. The results are helpful for quickly identifying strains of A. auricular in its early breeding time, and also provides a powerful theoretic basis to differentiate strains （Auricularia auricular） whose morphology is very similar in breeding programs of edible fungus.

Cloning and Sequence Analysis of ras Promoter from Auricuralia auricular Strain YBS-3

[Objective] The ras promoters were cloned from genomic DNA of Auricuralia auricular so as to provide promoters for breeding better species by genetic technology. [Method] PCR was used to clone promoters with the genomic DNA of A. auricular strain YBS-3 as template,and then the sequences of four ras promoters were obtained. The analysis of promoter sequences was made by three promoter analysis software：Promoter prediction,Place and TFSEARCH ver.1.3. [Result] Four fragments contained core elements of promoter including TATA-box and CAAT-box,and many other important cis-elements such as GATA BOX,GCGC BOX,CCAAT BOX1,etc. At the same time,there was at least one transcriptional start site in these sequences. And several transcription factor binding sites were detected in these sequences. [Conclusion] Four promoter fragments all had promoter function theoretically.

经皮耳穴迷走神经刺激联合多模式镇痛对全膝关节置换术后患者康复的临床研究

目的探讨经皮耳穴迷走神经刺激联合多模式镇痛对全膝关节置换术后患者的康复效果。方法由相同手术团队对66例膝骨关节炎患者实施全膝关节置换术,采用随机数字表分为两组,对照组予多模式镇痛方案,研究组加用经皮耳穴迷走神经刺激,评价数字等级量表(NRS)评分、痛阈值和焦虑自评量表(SAS)评分,记录并发症和不良事件。结果两组术后1 d NRS评分差异无统计学意义,两组在术后7 d和14 d均有明显改善,研究组NRS术后7 d(2.63±0.78)分、术后14 d(1.25±0.64)分,明显低于对照组NRS术后7 d(3.88±0.83)分、术后14 d(2.73±0.65)分,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);两组痛阈值在术后7、14 d均改善,研究组优于对照组(P<0.05),两组术后3、7、14 d的SAS评分均有所改善,研究组显著低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);两组并发症和不良事件发生率差异无统计学意义,安全性较佳。结论经皮耳穴迷走神经刺激联合多模式镇痛对全膝关节置换术后患者康复效果显著,能够发挥协同增效作用,安全性佳,对膝骨关节炎术后康复有临床指导价值。

耳穴压豆联合穴位贴敷治疗老年股骨粗隆间骨折术后便秘临床观察

目的分析行股骨近端防旋髓内钉内固定术的老年股骨粗隆间骨折患者,应用耳穴压豆联合穴位贴敷治疗的效果及对术后便秘的影响。方法回顾性选取2020年2月—2022年2月南城县中医院行股骨近端防旋髓内钉内固定术的老年股骨粗隆间骨折患者70例,分为联合治疗组和常规治疗组,各35例。联合治疗组行耳穴压豆联合穴位贴敷治疗,常规治疗组行常规治疗,观察临床效果。结果联合治疗组术后便秘发生率为8.57%(3/35),低于常规治疗组的31.43%(11/35);各围术期指标均优于常规治疗组;治疗总有效率为91.43%(32/35),高于常规治疗组的71.43%(25/35);术后并发症发生率为2.86%(1/35),低于常规治疗组的25.71%(9/35)(P<0.05)。治疗后,联合治疗组便秘患者症状自评量表(PAC-SYM)评分、视觉模拟量表(VAS)评分、焦虑评分、抑郁评分均低于常规治疗组,骨折断端骨痂生长评分、Harris评分均高于常规治疗组(P<0.05)。结论行股骨近端防旋髓内钉内固定术的老年股骨粗隆间骨折患者应用耳穴压豆联合穴位贴敷治疗,效果显著,术后便秘发生率明显降低。

Acute atraumatic pinna (auricular) perichondritis

Perichondritis of the external ear is referred to inthe literature as pinna perichondritis as well as auricularperichondritis. Pinna （auricular） perichondritis is aninfection involving cartilage and subcutaneous tissue.The resulting infection produces swelling which canbe severe, and can lead to focal ear necrosis. The termperichondritis may even be considered a misnomer＂as the cartilage is almost always involved.＂[1] Pinna（auricular） perichondritis presents with signs andsymptoms that can include pain。

Association of auricular pressing and heart rate variability in pre-exam anxiety students

A total of 30 students scoring between 12 and 20 on the Test Anxiety Scale who had been exhibiting an anxious state 〉 24 hours, and 30 normal control students were recruited. Indices of heart rate variability were recorded using an Actiheart electrocardiogram recorder at 10 minutes before auricular pressing, in the first half of stimulation and in the second half of stimulation. The results revealed that the standard deviation of all normal to normal intervals and the root mean square of standard deviation of normal to normal intervals were significantly increased after stimulation. The heart rate variability triangular index, very-low-frequency power, low-frequency power, and the ratio of low-frequency to high-frequency power were increased to different degrees after stimulation. Compared with normal controls, the root mean square of standard deviation of normal to normal intervals was significantly increased in anxious students following auricular pressing. These results indicated that auricular pressing can elevate heart rate variability, especially the root mean square of standard deviation of normal to normal intervals in students with pre-exam anxiety.

The mechanisms through which auricular vagus nerve stimulation protects against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury

Previous studies have shown that vagus nerve stimulation can improve patients' locomotor function.The stimulation of the auricular vagus nerve,which is the only superficial branch of the vagus nerve,may have similar effects to vagus nerve stimulation.However,the precise mechanisms remain poorly understood.In this study,rat models of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury were established by modified Longa ligation.Twenty-four hours later,7-day auricular vagus nerve stimulation was performed.The results showed that auricular vagus nerve stimulation promoted the secretion of acetylcholine,inhibited the secretion of interleukin-1β,interleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factor-α,and reduced connexin 43 phosphorylation in the ischemic penumbra and motor cortex,promoting locomotor function recovery in rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.These findings suggested that auricular vagus nerve stimulation promotes the recovery of locomotor function in rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by altering the secretion of acetylcholine and inflammatory factors and the phosphorylation of connexin 43.This study was approved by the Animal Use and Management Committee of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine on November 8,2019(approval No.PZSHUTCM191108014).

Regulative Effects of Auricular Acupuncture,Moxibustion and Chinese Herbs on Immunologic Function in the D-Galactose-induced Aging Mouse

Objective:To observe the regulative effect of auricular acupuncture, moxibustion and Chinese herbs on immunologic function in the D-galactose-induced aging mouse and to probe the feasibility and possible mechanisms for delaying aging, so as to provide experimental basis for acupuncture, moxibustion and Chinese herbs for delaying aging. Methods: Aging mouse model was established by subcutaneous injection of D-galactose, and treated by auricular acupuncture, auricular acupuncture plus moxibustion, and auricular acupuncture plus Chinese herbs respectively for 6 weeks and then serum interleukin-2 (IL-2) and IL-6 contents and splenic lymphocyte transformation rate were compared among the groups. Results: Compared with the young group, the serum IL-2 level and the splenic lymphocyte transformation rate significantly decreased and the IL-6 level significantly increased in the aging mouse. After treatment by auricular acupuncture, auricular acupuncture plus Chinese herbs, especially auricular acupuncture plus moxibustion, the serum IL-2 level and the splenic lymphocyte transformation rate significantly increased, and the IL-6 level significantly decreased as compared with the model group. Conclusions: Combined application of auricular acupuncture, moxibustion and Chinese herbs can improve the decline or dysfunction of immunological function in the aging organism to a certain extent.

基于数据挖掘技术探究耳穴治疗呃逆的选穴规律

目的:基于数据挖掘技术,分析耳穴疗法在不同呃逆中的应用,探究选穴配伍规律,为临床工作者提供参考。方法:计算机检索中国生物医学文献数据库、万方、知网、维普、Web of Science、Embase、Pubmed数据库,检索时限为建库至2023年9月26日。对高频耳穴的频次频率以及分布部位进行描述,分析耳穴处方间的关联规律。结果:共纳入255篇文献,得到耳穴处方284项,主要集中在顽固性呃逆、卒中后呃逆,涉及耳穴40个,主要分布在耳甲、耳轮及三角窝处。关联规则显示:胃、神门、交感、耳中为核心耳穴。结论:耳穴疗法干预呃逆的基本处方为胃、神门、交感、耳中。通过数据挖掘可发现耳穴干预呃逆的选穴规律,加深临床工作者对耳穴治疗呃逆的认识。

Self-experience of buried seeds at auricular points in depressive patients with sleep disorder: a qualitative research

Objective To explore the self-experience of burying seeds at auricular points in depressive patients with sleep disorder,so as to seek possible approaches to improve the quality of care.Methods Eleven patients involved in a three-week randomized controlled clinical trial were purposefully interviewed by the experienced,qualified counselor.The process of thematic analysis was applied in this study,the self-experience was discussed and recorded,transcribed,and analyzed accordingly.Results Four themes related to self-experience were extracted,these included the deficiency in relevant support,passive acceptance,distrust,expectation and further advice.Conclusion There was an urgent demand of humane care and emotional support,which might improve compliance of the treatment to some extent in terms of health education.Additionally,medical practitioners should provide the patient with comprehensive support,professional health education,as well as standardize training program for TCM operator and control the operation’s quality.

Operational procedures of auricular point sticking technology

As an external treatment technique of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),auricular point sticking,which is rooted in holographic biology theory and TCM viscera and meridian theory,is a safe and effective treatment method.This article introduces the technology overview and development process.The auricular point sticking technique for constipation is taken as an example to specify the basic requirements,assessment,operational points,acupoint selection and matters needing attention during the implementation of the auricular acupressure technique,providing a reference for the operating procedures of this technique in the clinical treatment of other diseases such as insomnia,diarrhea,colds,hypertension,headache,and dysmenorrhea.

Effect of Auricular Piont Pressing Combined with Thunder-Fire Moxibustion on Abdominal Distension and Constipation After Thoracic Compression Fracture

Objective:To explore the effect of auricular point pressing combined with thunder-fire moxibustion in the treatment of abdominal distension and constipation after thoracic compression fracture.Methods:Totally 100 patients were randomly divided into 4 groups,the observation group 1(n=25)which were treated with conventional nursing combined with auricular piont pressing,observation group 2(n=25)treated with conventional nursing combined with thunder-fire moxibustion,observation group 3(n=25)treated with conventional nursing combined with auricular point pressing and thunder-fire moxibustion,and the control group(n=25)which adopted conventional nursing.First exhaust and defecation time after fracture in 4 groups were observed and compared.Results:The effect of observation group 3 was better than that of observation group 2,observation group 1 and control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:It is obvious that auricular point pressing combined with thunder-fire moxibustion has better result in treating abdominal distension and constipation after thoracic compression fracture.

Application of auricular acupoints therapy in relieving the gastrointestinal side effects induced by chemotherapy： an integrative review

Background： It is an urgent matter to relieve the side effects induced by chemotherapy. In recent years, auricular acupoints therapy, which is a nursing technique used in traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）, has been used on many patients who are undergoing chemotherapy without causing any side effects. Furthermore, it has a good efficacy and is inexpensive. Aim： The aim of this study was to provide evidence for the need of further research in the treatment and nursing of patients during chemotherapy. Methods： We conducted an integrated review of the reports in CNK1, WanFang Data, SinoMed, and PubMed databases for journal articles published after 1990. The search terms included auricular acupoints taping and pressing, auricular acupoints therapy, auricular point sticking, ear points, chemotherapy, and side effects and relevant Medical Subject Heading terms. We then analyzed the mechanism, acu- points, and operation method and summarized the application of auricular acupoints therapy in patients suffering from chemotherapy side effects. Results： This review included 102 articles published between 1990 and 2016, and we brought 63 other articles into the study. Eighteen articles focused on auricular acupoints therapy, combined with other therapy, to relieve patient side effects during chemotherapy. Conclusions： Auricular acupoints therapy can prevent and relieve the side effects induced by chemotherapy. It deserves further clinical applications.

Auricular cartilage versus donor sclera as a wrapping of hydroxyapatite orbital implants

AIM: To retrospectively compare postoperative outcomes after primary enucleation and placement of a hydroxyapatite(HA) implant without wrapping, wrapped with auricular cartilage or donor sclera. METHODS: Medical records of patients presented as intraocular tumor or severe ocular injury were identified from the electronic medical record system. Cases underwent enucleation and HA orbital implantation were enrolled in this study and were divided into 3 groups according to the wrapping material of HA implant. Cases with autogenous cartilage caps were enrolled in group A(n=11), with donor sclera caps in group B(n=12), and without any wrapping material in group C(n=9). Follow-ups were set at 1, 2 wk, 1, 3, 6, and 12 mo after surgery.RESULTS: Altogether 32 cases finished the followup and were enrolled in this study. Three cases(27.27%) in group A, 4 cases(33.33%) in group B, and 4 cases(44.44%) in group C developed one complication each after surgery. In group A, no HA exposure occurred, but conjunctival inclusion cyst occurred in one and severe conjunctive chemosis in two cases. In group B, one HA exposure occurred, conjunctive inclusion cysts occurred in one, severe conjunctive chemosis occurred in one, and conjunctival granuloma occurred in one case. In group C, one HA exposure occurred, severe conjunctive chemosis occurred in two cases, and conjunctival granuloma occurred in one case. The case of exposure of none-wrapped implant was noted in the first 6 mo after placement of the orbital implant. The case of exposure of donor sclerawrapped implant was noted at the 12 mo after placement of the orbital implant. Both exposure cases were treated successfully with conservative treatment.CONCLUSION: With low incidence of implant exposure and mild complications, auricular cartilage can be a good choice of alternative wrapping material of orbit implant with satisfied outcome.
