Irregular honeycomb structures occur abundantly in nature and in man-made products, and are an active area of research. In this paper, according to the optimization of regular honeycomb structures, two types of irregular honeycomb structures with both positive and negative Poisson’s ratios are presented. The elastic properties of irregular honeycombs with varying structure angles were investigated through a combination of material mechanics and structural mechanics methods,in which the axial deformation of the rods was considered. The numerical results show that axial deformation has a significant influence on the elastic properties of irregular honeycomb structures. The elastic properties of the structure can be considered by the enclosed area of the unit structure, the shape of the unit structure, and the elastic properties of the original materials. The elastic properties considering the axial deformation of rods studied in this study can provide a reference for other scholars. 展开更多

In this paper, the general solution on nonlinear axial symmetrical deformation of nonhomogeneous cylindrical shells is obtained by step reduction method[1]. The general formula of displacements and stress resultants, which is used to solve the bending problems of nonhomogeneous cylindrical shells under arbitrary axial symmetric loads, is derived. Its uniform convergence is proved. Finally, it is only necessary to solve one set of binary linear algebraic equations. A numerical example is given at the end of the paper which indicates satisfactory results of displacement and stress resultants can be obtained and converge to the exact solution. 展开更多

The effect of the deformation condition on the axial compressive precision forming process of tube with curling die was investigated by using a rigid-plastic FEM. The results show that the forming accuracy depends mainly on geometric condition rp/d0, little on tube material properties and friction condition; the relative gap △/2rp of double-walled tubes obtained decreases with Increasing rp/d0, and there is a parameter k for a given to/do or rp/t0, when rp/d0 >k, △/2rp< 1, otherwise △/2rp>1. 展开更多

The recoil response of a deep-water drilling riser following an ED(Emergency Disconnection)scenario is a transient and sensitive process. The recoiling displacement of the riser is the resultant of recoil motion and axial stretch.How-ever,it is typically represented by one variable in recoil simulations. As axial deformation is quite small compared with axial motion in the recoil process,it inevitably introduces numerical errors(i.e.,a large number annihilating a small number). Thus,it is hard to perform a quantitative analysis of axial deformation, although a consensus initial deformation is essential for recoil dynamics. Moreover, the triggered axial natural modes have never been examined before. In this study, the recoil response is decomposed into two parts:recoil motion and axial deformation, and a novel model is developed by Galerkin method. It has demonstrated that the initial stretch has a significant effect at the initial stage in recoil. The existing models underestimate the effects of axial deformation. The new model can capture information of triggered natural modes and figure out the modes undergoing dynamic compression. This study can be beneficial to overpull setting, determination of ED time and anti-recoil control optimization. 展开更多

In the longitudinal seismic deformation method for shield tunnels, one of the most commonly used is the longitudinal equivalent stiffness beam model(LES)for simulating the mechanical behavior of the lining. In this model, axial deformation and bending deformation are independent,so the equivalent stiffness is a constant value. However, the actual situation is that axial deformation and bending deformation occur simultaneously, which is not considered in LES.At present,we are not clear about the effect on the calculation results when axial deformation and bending deformation occur simultaneously. Therefore,in this paper,we improve the traditional LES by taking the relative deformation as a load and considering the coordinated deformation of axial and bending degrees of freedom. This improved model is called DNLES,and its neutral axis equations are an explicit expression. Then,we propose an iterative algorithm to solve the calculation model of the DNLES-based longitudinal seismic deformation method.Through a calculation example,we find that the internal forces based on LES are notably underestimated than those of DNLES in the compression bending zone, while are overestimated in the tension bending zone. When considering the combined effect, the maximum bending moment reached 13.7 times that of the LES model, and the axial pressure and tension were about 1.14 and 0.96 times, respectively.Further analysis reveals the coordinated deformation process in the axial and bending directions of the shield tunnel, which leads to a consequent change in equivalent stiffness. This explains why,in the longitudinal seismic deformation method, the traditional LES may result in unreasonable calculation results. 展开更多

In this paper, the problem of axially symmetric deformation is examined for a composite cylindrical tube under equal axial loads acting on its two ends, where the tube is composed of two different incompressible neo-Hookean materials.Significantly, the implicit analytical solutions describing the deformation of the tube are proposed.Numerical simulations are given to further illustrate the qualitative properties of the solutions and some meaningful conclusions are obtained. In the tension case, with the increasing axial loads or with the decreasing ratio of shear moduli of the outer and the inner materials,it is proved that the tube will shrink more along the radial direction and will extend more along the axial direction.Under either tension or compression, the deformation along the axial direction is obvious near the two ends of the tube, while in the rest, the change is relatively small.Similarly, for a large domain of the middle part, the axial elongation is almost constant;however, the variation is very fast near the two ends.In addition, the absolute value of the axial displacement increases gradually from the central cross-section of the tube and achieves the maximum at the two endpoints. 展开更多

Efforts have been made to solve the Dirac equation with axially deformed scalar and vector WoodsSaxon potentials in the coordinate space with the imaginary time step method. The results of the singleparticle energies thus obtained are consistent with those calculated with the basis expansion method, which demonstrates the feasibility of the imaginary time step method for the relativistic static problems. 展开更多
