Hydrostatic slipper was often used in friction bearing design, allowing improvement of the latter's dynamic behavior. The influence of thermal effect on hydrostatic slipper bearing capacity of axial piston pump was investigated. A set of lumped parameter mathematical models were developed based on energy conservation law of slipper/ swash plate pair. The results show that thermal equilibrium clearance due to solid thermal deformation periodically changes with shaft rotational angle. The slipper bearing capacity increases dramatically with decreasing thermal equilibrium clearance. In order to improve the slipper bearing capacity, length-to-diameter ratio of fixed damper varies from 3.5 to 8.75 and radius ratio of slipper varies from 1.5 to 2.0. In addition, the higher slipper thermal conductivity is useful to improve slipper bearing capability, but the thermal equilibrium clearance is not compromised. 展开更多

This paper attempts to apply mechanical indexes of soil and semi-empirical formulas, which are based on soil mechanical theories and were summarized and presented by Meyerhof in 1976, to calculate the axial pile bearing capacity. The effects of ground subsidence and piled spacing on axial force of piles in squared piled rafts were investigated using numerical analysis. Two cases of piled rafts in soft clay including case 1 (s = 2d) and case 2 (s = 4d) with s and d were piled spacing and piled diameter respectively were considered in this study. Undrained (without ground water pumping) and drained (with ground water pumping) conditions were applied in each case in order to evaluate variations of ultimate bearing capacity of piled raft and axial force of the piles in piled raft. The results showed that ultimate bearing capacity increased about 25% for undrained condition and about 32% for drained condition when piled spacing increased from 2d to 4d. In the same piled spacing, axial force of the piles increased about 9% for piled spacing of 2d and 7% for piled spacing of 4d when drained condition was applied. When piled spacing increased 2 times (2d to 4d), the axial force of piles increased about 7% for undrained condition and about 5% for drained condition. 展开更多

The application of artificial neural network to predict the ultimate bearing capacity of CFST ( concrete-filled square steel tubes) short columns under axial loading is explored. Input parameters consiste of concrete compressive strength, yield strength of steel tube, confinement index, sectional dimension and width-to-thickness ratio. The ultimate bearing capacity is the only output parameter. A multilayer feedforward neural network is used to describe the nonlinear relationships between the input and output variables. Fifty-five experimental data of CFST short columns under axial loading are used to train and test the neural network. A comparison between the neural network model and three parameter models shows that the neural network model possesses good accuracy and could be a practical method for predicting the ultimate strength of axially loaded CFST short columns. 展开更多

This paper aims to deal with the assessment of axial load capacity for cast in place pile foundations, which are made by the earth drill method, by using the data taken from Standard Penetration Tests (SPTs) and Piezocone Penetration Tests (CPTUs). These tests were carried out as part of the investigation program for P.N.G. Terminal-Power Plant, near Semani beach, in Hoxhara marsh, in the western part of Albania. The design of axial load capacity of piles is based on empirical formula using SPT and CPTU values. This study presents the results of axial load capacity analysis of cast in place piles by different analytical calculation methods, which are based on in situ tests results, and also referring to the Building Standard Law of Japan. Construction of tunnels in urban areas requires assessment of the impact of tunneling on the stability and integrity of existing pile foundations. We have focused our attention to the analysis of the carrying capacity of pile foundations provided by the impact of construction of urban tunnels on adjacent pile foundations, under the engineering background of the construction of the # 2 Line of the Guangzhou subway. It is carried out using a fast Lagrangian analysis of a continuum in a 3D numerical code, which is an elastoplastic three-dimensional finite difference model, to simulate the response of piles under the entire process of metro tunneling (deactivation of soil element and activation of the lining). The adjacent stratum around the tunnel is classified into three regions: Zone Ⅰ (upper adjacent stratum of tunnel), Zone Ⅱ (45°-upper-lateral adjacent stratum of tunnel) and Zone Ⅲ (lateral adjacent stratum of tunnel). In each region one typical pile is chosen to be calculated and analyzed in detail. Numerical simulations are mainly conducted at three points of each pile shaft: the side-friction force of the pile, the tip resistance of the pile and the axial loading of the pile. A contrasting analysis has been conducted both in the response of typical piles in different regions and from computer calculated values with site monitoring values. The results of numerical simulations show that the impact on carrying capacity of the piles lies mainly in the impact of construction of urban tunnels on the side-friction forces and the tip resistance of piles. The impact differs considerably among the different strata zones where the pile tips are located. The complicated rules of side-friction force and tip resistance of piles has resulted in complicated rules of pile axial loading thus, in the end, it impacts the carrying capacity of pile-foundations. It is necessary to take positive measures, such as stratum grouting stabilization or foundation underpinning, etc, to deal with the carrying capacity and the settlement of pile-foundations. Clearance not only affects the startup torque,rotation precision and stiffness of bearing,but also affects the load distribution,load-carrying capacity and life of bearing.A computational model in which the clearance of bearing is first included is presented for determining the contact force distribution and static load-carrying capacity of a double row four-point contact ball bearing which is subjected to the combined radial,axial and overturning moment loadings.The relation between the negative axial clearance and the contact force distribution is analyzed.The static load-carrying capacity curves are established,and the effects of the changes in negative axial clearance,curvature radius coefficient of raceway groove and initial contact angle on the static load-carrying capacity are analyzed.The results show that,with the increase in the absolute value of negative clearance,the maximum contact load decreases first and then increases.The clearance values in the range of 0.2 mme0 mm have little effect on the static load-carrying capacity of bearing.With the increase in the curvature radius coefficient of raceway groove and the decrease in the initial contact angle,the static load capacity of bearing decreases. 展开更多

为解决异形钢管混凝土柱阴角对其承载力的影响,提出了用1个冷弯薄壁方钢管和2个U形钢管焊接成L形钢管,内填充混凝土形成L形冷弯薄壁型钢组合钢管混凝土柱形式。设计了5组共10根试件的轴压试验,并开展了有限元参数分析,研究了钢管厚度、... 为解决异形钢管混凝土柱阴角对其承载力的影响,提出了用1个冷弯薄壁方钢管和2个U形钢管焊接成L形钢管,内填充混凝土形成L形冷弯薄壁型钢组合钢管混凝土柱形式。设计了5组共10根试件的轴压试验,并开展了有限元参数分析,研究了钢管厚度、U形管外伸长度和钢材强度等参数对构件承载力和延性等力学性能的影响。结果表明:该类试件的主要破坏形态为中上部局部鼓曲破坏,适量增大U形管外伸长度可以提高承载力,但增大到一定程度之后易发生弯扭破坏;承载力和延性随着钢管厚度和钢材强度增大而增加;混凝土强度对构件的初始刚度和峰值荷载的影响都很小,但对曲线下降段的影响较大;试件端部和中部截面阴角处的混凝土应力值比各边中部更大,说明采用U形钢管与方钢管组合的方式改善了阴角处钢管对混凝土约束普遍较弱的问题。基于“统一理论”,给出了两种承载力建议计算公式,与试验结果吻合较好,两种计算方法在0.44~1.94的约束效应系数范围内具有良好的适用性。 展开更多

An experimental study on the compressive behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete-filled steel tube columns is presented. Specimens were tested to investigate the effects of the concrete strength, the thickness of steel tube and the steel fiber volume fraction on the ultimate strength and the ductility. The experimental results indicate that the addition of steel fibers in concrete can significantly improve the ductility and the energy dissipation capacity of the concrete-filled steel tube columns and delay the local buckling of the steel tube, but has no obvious effect on the failure mode. It has also been found that the addition of steel fibers is a more effective method than using thicker steel tube in enhancing the ductility, and more advantageous in the case of higher strength concrete. An analytical model to estimate the load capacity is proposed for steel tube columns filled with both plain concrete and steel fiber reinforced concrete. The predicted results are in good agreement with the experimental ones obtained in this work and literatures. 展开更多

Nonlinear finite element analysis and parametric studies were carried out to study the influence of axial load ratio on the shear behavior of the through-diaphragm connections of concrete-filled square steel tubular columns. The analysis reveals that smaller axial load ratio can improve the shear bearing capacity and ductility while larger axial load ratio will decrease the shear behavior of the through-diaphragm connections. The parametric studies indicate that the axial load ratio should be limited to less than 0.4 and its influence should be considered in the analysis and design of such connections. 展开更多

In order to find out the bearing behavior of super-long piles located in deep soft clay over stiff layers around Dongting Lake, China, a test pile was first designed with the field loading test finished afterward. Based on the measured test results, load transfer mechanism and bearing behavior of the pile shaft were discussed in detail. Then, by introducing a bi-linear model for shaft friction and the tri-linear model for pile tip resistance, respectively, the governing differential equation of pile soil system was set up by the load transfer method with the analytical solutions derived as well, taking into account the effect by stratified feature and various bearing conditions of subsoil, material nonlinearity, and the sediment under pile tip. Furthermore, formulas to determine the axial capacity of super-long piles by the pile top settlement were advised and applied to analyze the test pile. Good agreement between the predicted load settlement variations and the measured data is obtained to verify the validity of the present method. The results also show that, the axial bearing capacity of super-long piles should be controlled by the allowable pile top settlement, and buckling stability of the pile shaft should be paid attention as well. 展开更多

Different techniques have been proposed to increase the bearing capacity of open-ended piles.Welding helices to the shaft and tapering the pile shaft could be used simultaneously to enhance the static and dynamic behaviors of these piles.This paper subjects the bearing capacity,stiffness,frictional behavior,and material efficiency of the tapered helical piles to scrutiny.Tapered helical piles are introduced herein as an alternative option to improve the material efficiency of hollow piles.Based on the Taguchi method,a series of experiments was designed and conducted.The axial responses of tapered helical piles are also investigated using finite element analyses.The results derived from loadedisplacement curves and strain gages are used to characterize the axial compression responses of tapered helical piles.The effects of tapered angle,helices diameter and helices distance are examined using dimensionless parameters,and the degree of contribution of these factors is calculated on each of the enumerated variables individually.Experimental results show that the shaft friction resistance of tapered helical piles increases continuously with the pile head settlement.Furthermore,the effect of tapered wall on the shaft friction resistance is more tangible at low stress levels.The results showed that the relative material efficiency factor of the optimum pile could be 2.5 times that of unoptimized pile with a similar quantity of material. 展开更多

In order to study the axial compression performances of short columns made of recycled aggregate concrete,four samples were designed with different recycled aggregate replacement rates and carbon fibre reinforced plastics(CFRP)sheets.Then,monotonic loading was implemented to assess the variation trends of their axial compression properties.The ABAQUS finite element software was also used to determined the compression performances.Good agreement between experimental and numerical results has been found for the different parameters being considered.As shown by the results,recycled coarse aggregates result in improved ductility and better deformation performance of the specimens.The failure of specimens caused by pre damage can be compensated by using CFRP sheets,by which both the resistance to deformation and the axial carrying capacity of columns can be increased. 展开更多

A novel transit-time oscillator(TTO)is proposed in this paper.An axial cathode which has been widely used in high power microwave(HPM)source and an extractor with radial feature are adopted.In this way,the inherent advantages of axial and radial TTO,both of which can be utilized as high-quality intense relativistic electron beam(IREB),can be generated and the power capacity is also increased.The working mode isπ/2 mode of TM01 based on small-signal theory,and under the same energy storage,the maximum electric field in extractor decreases 16.3%.Besides,by utilizing the natural bending of the solenoid,this TTO saves over 60%of the length required by the uniform magnetic field,and consequently reduces the energy consumed by solenoid.The PIC simulation shows that by using 1.0-T decreasing magnetic field generated by the shorter solenoid,3.37-GW microwave at 12.43 GHz is generated with 620-kV and 13.27-kA input,and the overall conversion efficiency is 41%. 展开更多

The effect of tip-blade cutting on the performance of a large scale axial fan was investigated using computational fluid dynamics(CFD)methods.Experiments verified the numerical simulations.The original fan was compared with the one with tip-cutting in terms of dimensionless characteristic and aerodynamic performance in tip region under the conditions of the maximum efficiency point and near-stall point.The results showed that double leakage flow occurred in tip clearance at maximum efficiency point and spillage of leakage flow from leading edge occurred in tip-blade region at near-stall point for the both two fans;and that tip-cutting with 6% of blade height could reduce the intensity of tip-leakage vortex and increase flow capacity in tip blade region,and hold the stall margin almost the same as the original fan.The maximum efficiency of the fan with tip-cutting was improved by1%,and the ability of total pressure rising was obviously greater than the original fan. 展开更多

The results show that the ultimate axial compression capacity of common bird beak SHS T-joints and diamond bird beak SHS T-joints is larger than that of traditional SHS T-joint specimens with big values of β. The ultimate axial compression capacity of diamond bird beak SHS T-joints is larger than that of common bird beak SHS T-joints. As β increases, the increase of the ultimate axial compression capacity of diamond bird beak SHS T-joints over that of common bird beak joints grows. The ultimate axial compression capacity and the initial axial stiffness of all kinds of joints increase as β increases, and the initial axial stiffness of the diamond bird beak SHS T-joints is the largest. The ductilities of common bird beak and diamond bird beak SHS T-joints increase as β increases, but the ductility of the traditional SHS T-joints decreases as β increases. 展开更多

钢管混凝土(CFST)在服役环境中被腐蚀,导致其钢结构承载力降低,严重威胁到结构的服役性能和使用寿命。首先,采用机加工车铣方法制作模拟局部锈蚀的人工缺陷,然后以钢管外表面局部环向贯通锈蚀位置、锈蚀钢管体积损失率、锈蚀外表面面积... 钢管混凝土(CFST)在服役环境中被腐蚀,导致其钢结构承载力降低,严重威胁到结构的服役性能和使用寿命。首先,采用机加工车铣方法制作模拟局部锈蚀的人工缺陷,然后以钢管外表面局部环向贯通锈蚀位置、锈蚀钢管体积损失率、锈蚀外表面面积损失率(简称锈蚀面积损失率,下同)为试验参数,对45根局部锈蚀圆CFST短柱试件进行轴压承载力试验;其次,分析锈蚀位置、锈蚀钢管体积损失率、面积损失率和壁厚损失率对锈蚀试件承载力、刚度和延性的影响,揭示锈蚀CFST试件破坏机理和承载力退化机制;最后,针对局部锈蚀圆CFST短柱构件轴压承载力提出一个简化实用计算公式。研究结果表明:各试件具有类似的破坏特征,主要呈明显的腰鼓状破坏,且发生在锈蚀区;随着锈蚀钢管体积损失率增大,锈蚀CFST柱的承载力、刚度和延性均出现不同程度的降低;在锈蚀钢管体积损失率和面积损失率相同的情况下,就局部锈蚀位置影响而言,中部影响最大;就锈蚀程度表征参数影响而言,锈蚀钢管体积损失率影响最大,面积损失率次之,壁厚损失率最小;本文提出的简化实用公式可为圆钢管混凝土构件全寿命设计提供参考依据。 展开更多

为研究结构空间约束导致现浇钢筋混凝土楼盖梁跨中受弯承载力超强的机制,以楼盖梁在结构中的空间位置和配筋率为变量,设计12根上部架立筋不伸入支座的楼盖梁试件并开展跨中受弯静力试验,并基于建立经典混凝土理论的试验方法进行了4根简... 为研究结构空间约束导致现浇钢筋混凝土楼盖梁跨中受弯承载力超强的机制,以楼盖梁在结构中的空间位置和配筋率为变量,设计12根上部架立筋不伸入支座的楼盖梁试件并开展跨中受弯静力试验,并基于建立经典混凝土理论的试验方法进行了4根简支梁对比试验。对梁试件破坏形态、承载力、变形能力、轴向伸长进行研究,结果表明:楼盖梁试件承载力与按受弯构件计算承载力之比为1.57~2.77,与相应矩形简支梁试件和T形简支梁试件承载力相比均有较大提高,超强程度与配筋率成反比;与简支梁试件相比,楼盖梁试件跨中截面破坏形态未因轴压力而发生显著改变,但楼盖梁试件延性降低;楼盖梁试件轴向伸长随挠度的增大而增大。将楼盖梁视为压弯构件,提出根据楼盖梁试验峰值荷载确定相应轴力和弯矩的方法。计算结果表明,楼盖梁试件跨中截面压弯状态弯矩与受弯状态弯矩的比值为1.28~2.19。楼盖梁试件有限元数值模拟结果表明,随着楼盖梁截面包含的楼板范围增大,轴力沿梁跨分布趋于均匀。 展开更多
