PHT-splines are defined as polynomial splines over hierarchical T-meshes with very efficient local refinement properties.The original PHT-spline basis functions constructed by the truncation mechanism have a decay phe...PHT-splines are defined as polynomial splines over hierarchical T-meshes with very efficient local refinement properties.The original PHT-spline basis functions constructed by the truncation mechanism have a decay phenomenon,resulting in numerical instability.The non-decay basis functions are constructed as the B-splines that are defined on the 2×2 tensor product meshes associated with basis vertices in Kang et al.,but at the cost of losing the partition of unity.In the field of finite element analysis and topology optimization,forming the partition of unity is the default ingredient for constructing basis functions of approximate spaces.In this paper,we will show that the non-decay PHT-spline basis functions proposed by Kang et al.can be appropriately modified to form a partition of unity.Each non-decay basis function is multiplied by a positive weight to form the weighted basis.The weights are solved such that the sum of weighted bases is equal to 1 on the domain.We provide two methods for calculatingweights,based on geometric information of basis functions and the subdivision of PHT-splines.Weights are given in the form of explicit formulas and can be efficiently calculated.We also prove that the weights on the admissible hierarchical T-meshes are positive.展开更多

A modified image inpainting algorithm is proposed by weighted-priority based on the Criminisi algorithm. The improved algorithm demonstrates better relationship between the data term and the confidence term for the optimization of the priority than the classical Criminisi algorithm. By comparing the effect of the inpainted images with different structure, conclusion can be drawn that the optimal priority should be chosen properly for different images with different structures.展开更多

Literature from plant-based diets ...The goal of this paper is to review the evidence related to the effect of plant-based dietary pattems on obesity and weight loss, includingboth observational and intervention trials. Literature from plant-based diets (PBDs) epidemiological and clinical trial research was used toinform this review. In addition, data on dietary quality, adherence, and acceptability were evaluated and are presented. Both clinical trials andobservational research indicate an advantage to adoption of PBDs for preventing overweight and obesity and promoting weight loss. PBDsmay also confer higher levels of diet quality than are observed with other therapeutic diet approaches, with similar levels of adherence andacceptability. Future studies should utilize health behavior theory to inform intervention development and delivery of PBDs studies and newtechnologies to bring interventions to scale for greater public health impact. Research examining PBDs and weight loss is also needed withmore diverse populations, including older adults. Based on the available evidence, PBDs should be considered a viable option for the treat-ment and prevention of overweight and obesity.展开更多

The surface heat transfer coefficient , limiting the heat flow between material sur...Surface temperature changes of building materials affect the calculation of heat flow and thus the energy use in heating and cooling. The surface heat transfer coefficient , limiting the heat flow between material surface and ambient air is normally taken as a constant. In this study we propose a time-dependent function . We estimate from unidirectional heat flow experiments with transient and steady-state conditions. Using temperature measurements and the conservation of energy at the surface including convective and irradiative boundary conditions, the value of was obtained both using Finite Difference and Taylor Polynomials methods. Numerical solutions of temperature distribution as function of time were improved with the obtained -functions compared to with constant . There were no clear difference between on different materials, and the final values observed were in the order of magnitude expected from the literature.展开更多
