As an application example, rainbow phenomenon in the scattering of a two-layer cylinder is discussed by the Debye series components. It can be concluded that the radius and the refractive index of a two-layer cylinder have an effect on the twin-primary rainbow, and the high-order Debye series components which are associated with the high-order rainbows are more complex than those of a homogeneous cylinder.展开更多

The partial wave series representation for an elastic sphere has been extended to the case of Bessel beam scattering. Referring to the scattering of a plane wave, the peak to peak intervals in backscattering form function caused by the interference of the specular wave and the Franz wave have been analyzed in geometry. The influence of the characteristic parameterβ of a Bessel beam on the peak to peak intervals has been indicated, and a predictive formula of the the first time. Meanwhile the elastic scattering peak to peak intervals has been established for of each partial wave has been separated based on the Resonance Scattering Theory. The influence of β on the pure elastic resonance has been studied further. The results show that selecting specific β can reduce the contribution of a certain partial wave. Therefore the resonance at the corresponding frequency and the nearby region in the backscattering is remarkably suppressed. The work of this paper could be helpful to the applications of Bessel beams on the acoustic detection of submerged objects.展开更多

The incident beam is represented by the vector expressions in Cartesian coordinates. The scattering problems involving homogeneous dielectric particles are formulated with the surface integral equation method. As an example, the effects of the beam's parameters on the differential scattering cross section for a sphere are analyzed in detail. The boundary relations between an incident pulse beam and the detected area elements are analyzed by geometric methods. The Doppler shift characteristics of the rotating cone and cylinder are discussed and the difference between the laser pulse beam and the plane wave scattered from the same rotating target is compared accordingly. Numerical simulations show that the Doppler shift is tightly relevant to their dimensions, speeds, and so on. In the same incidence conditions, the pulse beam and plane wave have difference peak values and the same Doppler shift bandwidth. If the waist radius of the pulse beam is larger, the peak value is higher, and the Doppler shifts are proportional to the speed of the rotating target. By virtue of our theoretical model, we probe into the scattered characteristics of the Doppler shifts of a laser pulse beam, which would benefit target identification in national defense.展开更多

In this paper, using the particle-in-cell Monte Carlo collisions (PIC-MCC) method, we not only simulated the beam lifetime but also explored the effect of BGCS on the beam distribution. In order to better estimate the effect on particle distribution, we study the ultra-low emittance electron beam. Here we choose the HeFei Advanced Light Source. By counting the lost particles in a certain time, the corresponding beam lifetime we simulated is 4.8482 h/13.8492 h in x/y, which is very close to the theoretic value (5.0555 h/13.7024 h in x/y). By counting the lost particles relative to the collided particles, the simulated value of the loss probability of collided particles is 1.3431e-04, which is also very close to the theoretical value (1.3824e-04). Besides, the simulation shows there is a tail in the transverse distribution due to the BGCS. The close match of the simulation with the theoretic value in beam lifetime and loss probability indicates our simulation is reliable.展开更多
