Wing and body kinematics of the insects during takeoff were measured using Based on the measured data, high-speed video techniques. inertia force acting on the insect was computed and aerodynamic force and moment of the wings were calculated by the method of computational fluid dynamics. Subtracting the aerodynamic force and the weight from the inertia force gave the leg force. The following has been shown. In its voluntary takeoff, a fruitfly jumps during the first wingbeat and becomes airborne at the end of the first wingbeat. When it is in the air, the fly has a relatively large "initial" pitch-up rotational velocity (more than 5 000~/s) resulting from the jumping, but in about 5 wingbeats, the pitch-up rotation is stopped and the fly goes into a quasi-hovering flight. The fly mainly uses the force of jumping legs to lift itself into the air (the force from the flapping wings during the jumping is only about 5%-10% of the leg force). The main role played by the flapping wings in the takeoff is to produce a pitch-down moment to nullify the large "initial" pitch-up rotational velocity (otherwise, the fly would have kept pitching-up and quickly fallen down).展开更多

We defined generalized relations and generalized reasoning, introduced the concept of steady multilateral systems with two non-compatibility relations, and discussed its energy properties. Later based on the intervention principle in image mathematics of TCMath and treated the research object of the image mathematics as a steady multilateral system, it has been proved that the mathematical intervening principle is true. The kernel of this paper is the existence and reasoning of the non-compatibility relations in steady multilateral systems, and it accords with the oriental thinking model.展开更多
We present high quality long slit spectra along the major and minor axes out to 1.5 effective radii of the massive galaxy NGC 4636 taken by the Hobby-Eberly Telescope. Using the Fourier Correlation Quotient method, we...We present high quality long slit spectra along the major and minor axes out to 1.5 effective radii of the massive galaxy NGC 4636 taken by the Hobby-Eberly Telescope. Using the Fourier Correlation Quotient method, we measured the stellar line-of-sight velocity distribution along the axes. Furthermore, six Lick/IDS indices (Hβ, Mgb, Fe5015, Fe5270, Fe5335, Fe5406) are derived from the clean spectrum. By comparing the measured absorption line strengths with the predictions of Simple Stellar Population (SSP) models, we derived ages, total metallicity and a abundance profiles of the galaxy. This galaxy presents old and [α/Fe] overabundant stellar populations. Indeed, using the SSP model, we obtained the broadband color profiles. The theoretical colors match well with the measured colors and present red sharp peaks at the galaxy center. The sharp peaks of the colors are mainly shaped by the high metallicity in the galaxy's center. Interestingly, the galaxy has steep negative metaUicity gradients, but the trend flattens outwards. This result likely suggests that the center and outer regions of the galaxy formed through different formation processes.展开更多

By comparison, the iteration method is much better because of its high accuracy, fast speed and stabilization, and it does not require calculation of the pseudoinverse of the 2acobian. Thus, this control scheme is well suited for real-time im- plementation, which is essential if the end-effector trajectory is continuously modified based on sensor's feedback. Finally, using VC + + and Microsoft foundation classes (MFC) to achieve the main machine interface. This paper introduces a new method for automatic recognition of license plates of vehicles by mathematical morphology. The proposed method can provide the license plate number of the plates in different light conditions, colors, sizes, and inclination (angles). The algorithm can recognize the license plates of European Union vehicles quickly and correctly. The pattern learning of mathematical skeletons has high efficiency in the process. The performance of the algorithm is demonstrated well by the test in a parking control system.展开更多
In order to solve the problem of intraperitoneal haemorrhage and bile leakage caused by the iatrogenic trauma, sixty-four sequence of puncture were performed on twenty canine livers and thirty-two sequences selected b...In order to solve the problem of intraperitoneal haemorrhage and bile leakage caused by the iatrogenic trauma, sixty-four sequence of puncture were performed on twenty canine livers and thirty-two sequences selected by chance were perfused with thrombin solution. The results revealed that the bleeding time was shortened and amounts lessened significantly after application of thrombin compared with counterparts of control (P< 0. 001,t test).There was no significant difference between the levels of plasma fibringgeu prc-and Post-thrombin's using (P > 0.4,t test).The thrombin clotting time of patients with obstructive jaundice was similar to that of the group of control(P> 0. 05, t test).We conclude that thrombin is characterized by the ability of rapid,effective and safe haemostasis to the traumatic channel made by the liver puncture,and it's adaptive to most of the patients with hepatobiliary disease,and worth using and developing in clinical practice.展开更多

Late-presenting congenital diaphragmatic hernia is uncommon entity resulting in fr...Introduction: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia is often detected during the prenatal or neonatal period by severe respiratory symptoms. Late-presenting congenital diaphragmatic hernia is uncommon entity resulting in frequent misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. Case Report: We report the case of a left congenital diaphragmatic hernia revealed by an inaugural diabetic ketoacidosis in a 9-year-old girl. She has presented progressive weight loss without loss of appetite associated with polyuro-polydipsia, then epigastric pain with vomiting. Blood glucose was 3.2 g/L, ketonuria and 2+ glycosuria. Despite a well-conducted treatment, there was persistence of dyspnea. Chest X-ray and chest CT-scan confirmed the presence of a left diaphragmatic hernia. Evolution was marked by the death of the child on day 2 post-operative from a multivisceral failure. Conclusion: Clinical and radiological signs of congenital diaphragmatic hernia after the neonatal period may be difficult to interpret and may result in delayed diagnosis, erroneous treatment and potentially fatal outcome.展开更多
