Methods A total of 120 healthy old persons were randomly divided into two groups: 60 old persons as treatment group and other 60 persons as control group. Each person in the treatment group took a thyroid tablet 10 mg daily continuously for six months while the control group took VitB1 30 mg daily instead of thyroid tablet. The level of TH, M -TSH, FT3, FT4, TT4, rT3, TC, TG, LDL - C, HDL-C, ApoA1 were measured in two groups before and after receiving TH or Vit. B1 treatment. Results In the treatment group the level of TH increased obviously. And TC, TG, LDL - C levels decreased also to some extent while HDL - C, ApoAl levels increased slightly which was significant when compared with the control group and pre - treatment group. Conclusions To use small dose of TH as supplement treatment can increase the TH level of healthy old persons and decrease their blood lipid level. It would be a benefit for treating hyperlipidemia in the elderly.展开更多

Methods: A total of 190 cases of climacteric syndrome participants were randomly divided into auricular plus body acupuncture group (treatment group, n=96) and simple body acupuncture group (control group, n=94). Serum sexual hormone (FSH, LH and E2) and blood lipid (TC, LDL C, HDL C and TG) levels were detected before and after treatment. Results: After 30 sessions of treatment, the total effective rates of treatment and control groups were 82.29% and 76.02% respectively, with the former being significantly higher than the later (P<0.01). In comparison with pre treatment of each group, serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luterotropic hormone (LH) levels lowered significantly; serum estradiol (E 2) increased remarkably (P<0.05-0.01); serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL C) of two groups raised significantly (P<0.05-0.01), and low density lipoprotein (LDL) C of treatment group decreased evidently (P<0.05). In addition, the improvement of complaints of hot flushes, sweating, paresthesia, insomnia and emotional irritability in treatment group is significantly better than that of control group. Conclusion: Auricular acupuncture combined with body acupuncture has a better therapeutic effect than that of simple body acupuncture in the treatment of climacteric syndrome.展开更多
Objective:To systematically evaluate the effects of acupuncture,auricular point sticking,acupoint catgut embedding,cupping and other non-pharmaceutical Chinese medicine therapies on sex hormone as well as glucose and ...Objective:To systematically evaluate the effects of acupuncture,auricular point sticking,acupoint catgut embedding,cupping and other non-pharmaceutical Chinese medicine therapies on sex hormone as well as glucose and lipid metabolism in patients with obese polycystic ovary syndrome.Method:The databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched by computer to collect the literature on the treatment of obese polycystic by non-pharmaceutical Chinese medicine therapy combined with western medicine or lifestyle change,and the literature quality of the included literature was evaluated,and finally the data were analyzed.A total of 15 randomized controlled trial(RCT)literature were included in this study,with a total of 1263 patients.Results:Non-pharmaceutical Chinese medicine therapy combined with metformin or lifestyle can reduce body mass index,insulin resistance index,fasting plasma insulin,fasting blood glucose,luteinizing hormone,ratio of luteinizing hormone to follicle stimulating hormone,testosterone,but it has no obvious advantage over follicle stimulating hormone(FSH).Conclusion:Compared with simple application of metformin or lifestyle change,traditional Chinese medicine non drug therapy combined with metformin or lifestyle change can better improve sex hormone and blood glucose metabolism in obese PCOS patients.展开更多
