Transition metal phosphides with metallic properties are a promising candidate for electrocatalytic water oxidation,and developing highly active and stable metal phosphide-based oxygen evolution reaction catalysts is still challenging.Herein,we present a facile ion exchange and phosphating processes to transform intestine-like CoNiP_(x)@P,N-C into lotus pod-like CoNiFeP_(x)@P,N-C heterostructure in which numerous P,N-codoped carboncoated CoNiFeP_(x)nanoparticles tightly anchors on the 2D carbon matrix.Meanwhile,the as-prepared CoNiFeP_(x)@P,N-C enables a core-shell structure,high specific surface area,and hierarchical pore structure,which present abundant heterointerfaces and fully exposed active sites.Notably,the incorporation of Fe can also induce electron transfer in CoNiP_(x)@P,IM-C,thereby promoting the oxygen evolution reaction.Consequently,CoNiFeP_(x)@P,IM-C delivers a low overpotential of 278 mV(vs RHE)at a current density of10 mA cm^(-1)and inherits excellent long-term stability with no observable current density decay after 30 h of chronoamperometry test.This work not only highlights heteroatom induction to tune the electronic structure but also provides a facile approach for developing advanced and stable oxygen evolution reaction electrocatalysts with abundant heterointerfaces. 展开更多

According to the design specifications,the construction of extended piles involves traversing the tunnel’s upper region and extending to the underlying rock layer.To address this challenge,a subterranean transfer structure spanning multiple subway tunnels was proposed.Deliberating on the function of piles in the transfer structure as springs with axial and bending stiffness,and taking into account the force balance and deformation coordination conditions of beams and plates within the transfer structure,we established a simplified mechanical model that incorporates soil stratification by combining it with the Winkler elastic foundation beam model.The resolved established simplifiedmechanicalmodel employed finite difference technology and the Newton-Simpsonmethod,elucidating the mechanical mechanism of the transfer structure.The research findings suggest that the load carried by the upper structural columns can be transferred to the pile foundation beneath the beams through the transfer structure,subsequently reaching the deep soil layer and ensuring minimal impact on adjacent tunnels.The established simplified analysis method can be used for stress analysis of the transfer structure,concurrently considering soil stratification,pile foundation behavior,and plate action.The pile length,pile section size,and beam section size within the transfer structure should account for the characteristics of the upper load,ensuring an even distribution of the beam bending moment. 展开更多

Centered or striped wick structures have been used to develop ultrathin heat pipes.Differing from traditional heat pipes,the centered or striped wick structures leave noncontact container surfaces with the wick structure.In this study,experiments andnumerical analyseswere conductedtoinvestigate the influenceof thesenoncontact surfaces.In the experiments,a strip-shaped wick structure was placed vertically,the top was sandwiched between wider rods and the bottom was immersed in a working fluid.The rod width was greater than the wick width;thus,noncontact surfaces were left between the rod and the wick structure.The heat was applied from the rod to the wick structure,and the evaporation heat transfer characteristics of the working fluid from the wick structure were evaluated.Water was used as the working fluid.The experiments were conducted by varying the rod and wick widths.The experimental results were obtained when the wick structures were placed separately.In the numerical analyses,the temperature and heat flux distributions in the rod were obtained.From the experimental and numerical results,it was confirmed that the noncontact surfaces caused the heat flux in the rod near both surfaces of the wick structure to concentrate,which increased the evaporation thermal resistance of the wick structure.A reduction in the noncontact surface area by increasing the wick width was found to be effective in decreasing the evaporation thermal resistance and increasing themaximumheat transfer rate of the wick structure.The separation of the wick structure increased the evaporation surface area.However,its effectiveness was limited when the heat transfer rate was small. 展开更多

Fe-N-C catalysts are widely considered as promising non-precious-metal candidates for electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),Yet despite their high catalytic activity through rational modulation,challenges remain in their low site density and unsatisfactory mass transfer structure.Herein,we present a structural engineering approach employing a soft-template coating strategy to fabricate a hollow and hierarchically porous N-doped carbon framework anchored with atomically dispersed Fe sites(FeNCh) as an efficient ORR catalyst.The combination of hierarchical porosity and high exterior surface area is proven crucial for exposing more active sites,which gives rise to a remarkable ORR performance with a half-wave potential of 0.902 V in 0.1 m KOH and 0.814 V in 0.1 m HClO_(4),significantly outperforming its counterpart with solid structure and dominance of micropores(FeNC-s).The mass transfer property is revealed by in-situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) measurement.The distribution of relaxation time(DRT) analysis is further introduced to deconvolve the kinetic and mass transport processes,which demonstrates an alleviated mass transport resistance for FeNC-h,validating the effectiveness of structural engineering.This work not only provides an effective structural engineering approach but also contributes to the comprehensive mass transfer evaluation on advanced electrocatalyst for energy conversion applications. 展开更多

An ultra-thin flattened heat pipe has been developed with a centered wick structure.This structure is essential to make the heat pipe thinner.However,the centered wick structure reduces the evaporation and condensation surface areas of the wick structure because it is sandwiched between heat pipe walls.In this study,because detailed discussion has not been made,heat transfer experiments were conducted for the wick structure sandwiched between two solid walls.This study focused on the evaporation heat transfer characteristics from the sandwiched wick structure.The experiments were conducted with three wick structures,that is,strip-shaped sintered copper powders with thicknesses of 0.5,1.0,and 1.5 mm.Water was used as working fluid.The capillary pumping performance,that is,the liquid lifting velocities of the three wick structures were the same.The experimental results of the three wick structures were compared regarding the relation between the evaporation heat transfer rate and the superheat of the working fluid.The heat transfer experiments were also conducted when one of the solid walls was removed from the wick structure.It was confirmed that even if the wick structure was sandwiched between the solid walls,sufficient evaporation of the working fluid occurred from the thin sides of the wick structure. 展开更多

To meet the demands for large space and flexible compartmentation ofbuildings, laminated vierendeel trasses are adopted in high-position transfer story structures.First the bearing characteristics are analyzed, in which reasonable stiffness ratio of the upperchord, middle chord, and lower chord is derived. Then combined with an actual engineering model (1:8similar ratio), the static loading and pseudo-dynamic tests of two models for laminated vierendeeltrass used in transfer story structures are conducted, in which one model adopts reinforcedconcrete, and the other adopts prestressed concrete and shape steel concrete. Seismic behaviors areanalyzed, including inter-story displacement, base shear-displacement skeleton curves, andequivalent viscosity-damping curves. A program is programmed to carry out the elasto-plastic dynamicanalysis, and displacement time-history curves of the two models are derived. The test and analysisresults show that the laminated vierendeel trass with prestressed concrete and shape steel concretehas excellent seismic behaviors. It can solve the disadvantages of laminated vierendeel trussesused in transfer story structures. Finally, some design suggestions are put forward, which can bereferenced by similar engineering. 展开更多

Three kinds of composite micro-channels with metallic porous structures were designed. The sintering process was studied and optimized to obtain porous-structured micro-channels with high porosity. The flow resistance and heat transfer performance in the composite micro-channels were investigated. The composite micro-channels show acceptable flow resistance, significant enhancement of heat transfer and dramatic improvement of flow boiling stability, which indicates a promising prospect for the application in forced convective heat transfer. 展开更多

Small changes in the confined mass transfer structure(including size, morphology and properties) will lead to significant fluctuations of the mass transfer coefficient. The mass transfer of the penetrant molecules in the dense membranes for pervaporation, gas separation and so on, is located in the scope of confined mass transfer. Incorporating nanofillers into polymer matrix to construct mixed matrix membranes(MMMs) is an effective approach to tune the confined mass transfer structure and enhance the performance of the widely used polymeric membranes. This review focuses on the construction and manipulation of the confined structure in the polymeric membranes via incorporating one-dimensional(1D), two-dimensional(2D) and three-dimensional(3D) fillers.The comparison of the MMMs for pervaporation is summarized, and the research prospective of the MMMs is provided. 展开更多

Condensation is an important regime of heat transfer which has wide applications in different industries such as power plants,heating,ventilating and air conditioning,and refrigeration.Condensation occurs in two different modes including filmwise (FWC) and dropwise (DWC) condensation.DWC occurring on hydrophobic and superhydrophobic surfaces has a much higher heat transfer capacity than FWC.Therefore,wide investigations have been done to produce DWC in recent years.Superhydrophobic surfaces have micro/nano structures with low surface energy.In this study,a two-step electrodeposition process is used to produce micro/nano structures on copper specimens.The surface energy of specimens is reduced by a self-assembled monolayer using ethanol and 1-octadecanethiol solution.The results show that there is an optimum condition for electrodeposition parameters.For example,a surface prepared by 2000 s step time has 5 times greater heat transfer than FWC while a surface with 4000 s step time has nearly the same heat transfer as FWC.The surfaces of the fabricated specimens are examined using XRD and SEM analyses.The SEM analyses of the surfaces show that there are some micro-structures on the surfaces and the surface porosities are reduced by increasing the second step electrodeposition time. 展开更多

On the basis of the analysis of field thermogeochemical data along abnormal zones of a thermal stream in the Bukhara-Khiva, oil-and-gas region of the Turan (Tegermen, Chagakul, Shimoly Alat, Beshtepa) was succeeded to obtain important data on a deep structure of sites. Data of gas-chemical and geothermal observations show about confinedness of abnormal concentration of methane to zones of the increased values of the temperature field the measured values of temperatures (Tegermen Square and others). On geoelectric section mines 2-D of inversion of the MT-field depth of 4000 m are lower, among very high-resistance the chemogenic and carbonate deposits of the Paleozoic is traced the subvertical carrying-out abnormal zone. This zone is identified as the channel of a deep heat and mass transfer with which hydrocarbon (HC) deposits are connected. Detailed investigation of flow behavior in structured packing distillation columns is of great importance in accurate prediction of process efficiency and development of more efficient and optimal equipment internals. In this study, a three-dimensional two-phase flow model based on VOF method for simulating the hydrodynamics and mass-transfer behavior in a typical representative unit of the structured packing is developed. In the proposed model, the c 2 - ε c model is used for the closure of turbulent mass transfer equation. By solving the proposed model, the velocity distribution, phase fraction profile and concentration field are obtained. Using these data, the total liquid holdup, the wetted area and the separation efficiency [height equivalent to a theoretical plate (HETP)] are estimated. For testing the model validation, the simulated HETPs are compared with our previous experimental data obtained in a 150 mm-diameter column containing Mellapak 350Y operating at the pressures of 0.6-1.8 MPa. The compari-son shows that they are in satisfactory agreement, with an average absolute deviation (AAD) of 25.4%. 展开更多

A rotating packed bed(RPB) reactor has substantially potential for the process intensification of heterogeneous catalytic reactions. However, the scarce knowledge of the liquid–solid mass transfer in the RPB reactor is a barrier for its design and scale-up. In this work, the liquid–solid mass transfer in a RPB reactor installed with structured foam packing was experimentally studied using copper dissolution by potassium dichromate. Effects of rotational speed, liquid and gas volumetric flow rate on the liquid–solid mass transfer coefficient(kLS) have been investigated. The correlation for predicting kLSwas proposed, and the deviation between the experimental and predicted values was within±12%. The liquid–solid volumetric mass transfer coefficient(kLSaLS) ranged from 0.04–0.14 1^-1, which was approximately 5 times larger than that in the packed bed reactor. This work lays the foundation for modeling of the RPB reactor packed with structured foam packing for heterogeneous catalytic reaction. 展开更多

This paper studies the mass transfer performance of structured packings in the absorption of CO2 from air with aqueous Na OH solution. The Eight structured packings tested are sheet metal ones with corrugations of different geometry parameters. Effective mass transfer area and overall gas phase mass transfer coefficient have been measured in an absorption column of 200 mm diameter under the conditions of gas F-factor in 0.38–1.52 Pa0.5and aqueous Na OH solution concentration of 0.10–0.15 kmol·m-3. The effects of gas/liquid phase flow rates and packing geometry parameters are also investigated. The results show that the effective mass transfer area changes not only with packing geometry parameters and liquid load, but also with gas F-factor. A new effective mass transfer area correlation on the gas F-factor and the liquid load was proposed, which is found to fit experiment data very well. 展开更多

The Earliest Discovery of the Role of Magnesium Ions on Stabilizing the Tertiary Structure of the Transfer RNA and Its Biological Significance —A Short Memoir 被引量:1

In early of 1960s, I was a graduate student studying on tRNA biochemistry. In the course of the research, the magnesium ions stabilized the tertiary structure of tRNA, resulting in its resistance to enzymatic degradation was discovered independently. The experiment of deaminated (denatured) tRNA obtained from native tRNA was designed and conducted and further proved the validity of this finding. It was found that magnesium ions could stabilize the tertiary structure of the natrive tRNA but could not stabilize structure of the deaminated tRNA. In term of the methodology, this stabilization technique has been widely applied in sequencing analysis of RNA and has greatly promoted the progress in the study of primary structure of RNA. More importantly, the stabilization of the tertiary structure of RNA by magnesium ions plays a key role both in the processing of messenger RNAs and the ribozyme activity. After our first article in Chinese was published in 1963, a paper of Nishimura & Novelli came into our note. The received date of their paper was March 22 of 1963, only 4 days earlier than that of our first paper. Thus, we and Nishimura & Novelli made almost at the same time the earliest discovery of the role of magnesium ions on stabilizing the tertiary structure of the transfer RNA and thus resulted in resistance of tRNA degradation by enzymes. However, this discovery was not initially appreciated for a period of time but was finally “visualized” and proved by X-ray crystal structure of yeast phenylalanine tRNA, which has provided more accurate information on the geometry of the magnesium-binding sites in tRNA. 展开更多

Predictive modeling of critical temperatures in magnesium compounds using transfer learning

This study presents a transfer learning approach for discovering potential Mg-based superconductors utilizing a comprehensive target dataset.Initially,a large source dataset(Bandgap dataset)comprising approximately∼75k compounds is utilized for pretraining,followed by fine-tuning with a smaller Critical Temperature(T_(c))dataset containing∼300 compounds.Comparatively,there is a significant improvement in the performance of the transfer learning model over the traditional deep learning(DL)model in predicting Tc.Subsequently,the transfer learning model is applied to predict the properties of approximately 150k compounds.Predictions are validated computationally using density functional theory(DFT)calculations based on lattice dynamics-related theory.Moreover,to demonstrate the extended predictive capability of the transfer learning model for new materials,a pool of virtual compounds derived from prototype crystal structures from the Materials Project(MP)database is generated.T_(c) predictions are obtained for∼3600 virtual compounds,which underwent screening for electroneutrality and thermodynamic stability.An Extra Trees-based model is trained to utilize E_(hull)values to obtain thermodynamically stable materials,employing a dataset containing Ehull values for approximately 150k materials for training.Materials with Ehull values exceeding 5 meV/atom were filtered out,resulting in a refined list of potential Mg-based superconductors.This study showcases the effectiveness of transfer learning in predicting superconducting properties and highlights its potential for accelerating the discovery of Mg-based materials in the field of superconductivity. 展开更多

In this paper the laser-phase determination methods and transfer equations are presented to directly reconstruct the detailed temporal structures of ultra-short extreme ultraviolet (xuv) pulses from the measured photoelectron energy spectra (PES). Each transfer equation includes one of PID (proportional-integral-differential) terms of PES. The intensity and instantaneous frequency of attosecond xuv can be retrieved from the integral term of PES. The intensity profiles of narrow bandwidth atto- and femtosecond xuvs can be rebuilt from the proportional and differential terms of PES respectively. The methods and equations may be used to improve time resolutions in measuring ultrashort pulses. 展开更多

Following Tsai & Ma[1] and Tsai & Liu[2], a statistical and dynamical near-wall turbulent coherent structural model with separate consideration of two different portions:locally generated and upstream-transported large eddies has been established.With this model, heat transfer in a fully developed open channel in the absence of pressure gradient is numerically simulated. Database of fluctuations of velocity and temperature has also been set. Numerical analysis shows the existence of high-low temperature streak caused by near-wall coherent structure and its swing in the lateral direction.Numerical results are in accordance with the computations and experimental results of other researchers. 展开更多

Photo-induced electron transfer versus molecular structure of acceptors is investigated using ultrafast time-resolved transient grating spectroscopy. Typical laser dyes Rhodamine 101 (Rh101) and Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) in electron donor solvent-aniline are adopted as the objects. The forward electron transfer time constant from aniline to the excited singlet state of two Rhodamine dyes and subsequent back electron transfer from two dyes to aniline are measured. The experimental results denote that Rh6G presents faster electron transfer rates with aniline in both forward electron transfer and back electron transfer processes. With chemical calculation and qualitative analysis, it is found that the flexible molecular geometry of Rh6G leads to stronger electron coupling with donor solvent and further gives rise to larger electron transfer rates. 展开更多

In this paper, turbulent data obtained from the Damxung site during the Secondary Tibetan Plateau Science Experiment (TIPEX) in 1998 are used to study the characteristics of the turbulent spectra, turbulence transport, and the dissipation rates of turbulent kinetic energy, temperature variance, and humidity variance in the middle area of the Tibetan Plateau. The turbulent spectra of wind velocity, potential temperature, and humidity satisfy the-2/3 power law in the high frequency range. Horizontal transportation of heat and water vapor is negligible compared with vertical transportation under strong unstable conditions, and as the stability parameter z/L increases (where z is the observational height, and L is the Monin Obukhov length), horizontal transportation becomes dominant under near-neutral, neutral, and stable conditions. The non-dimensional temperature and humidity variances are 20% less than the temperature and humidity gradient variances. These deficits appear to increase as the absolute stability parameter increases. Moreover, the effects of turbulence transportation and pressure variance exist throughout the entire stability region. 展开更多
