As an important part of steel bridge deck,the engineering quality and service condition of steel bridge deck pavement(SBDP)directly affects the capacity and operational efficiency of the bridge.This paper reviews the ...As an important part of steel bridge deck,the engineering quality and service condition of steel bridge deck pavement(SBDP)directly affects the capacity and operational efficiency of the bridge.This paper reviews the history of the development of SBDP in China over the past 20 years from the exploration stage,rapid development stage and prosperity stage.The development and application of SBDP at different stages are discussed in terms of materials,structure,design,performance evaluation,maintenance and rehabilitation,respectively.The advantages and disadvantages of different pavement materials and structures,and the application of different research methods are summarized.The review shows that the improvement of pavement materials and structures and the development of new materials should be further studied on the multi-scale to enhance the durability of pavement materials,so as to extend the service life of pavements.The design method of SBDP related to the synergistic effect of vehicle,pavement and bridge should be established,and the design concept and method standard of rigid base pavement structure should be improved and formulate a complete design standard.In addition,multi-disease intelligent identification system and equipment should be studied to track the entire course of disease development in real time.And it is necessary to develop appropriate algorithms to select and classify the complex data of disease and maintenance history.展开更多

This paper presents a vision-based crack detection approach for concrete bridge decks using an integrated one-dimensional convolutional neural network(1D-CNN)and long short-term memory(LSTM)method in the image frequen...This paper presents a vision-based crack detection approach for concrete bridge decks using an integrated one-dimensional convolutional neural network(1D-CNN)and long short-term memory(LSTM)method in the image frequency domain.The so-called 1D-CNN-LSTM algorithm is trained using thousands of images of cracked and non-cracked concrete bridge decks.In order to improve the training efficiency,images are first transformed into the frequency domain during a preprocessing phase.The algorithm is then calibrated using the flattened frequency data.LSTM is used to improve the performance of the developed network for long sequence data.The accuracy of the developed model is 99.05%,98.9%,and 99.25%,respectively,for training,validation,and testing data.An implementation framework is further developed for future application of the trained model for large-scale images.The proposed 1D-CNN-LSTM method exhibits superior performance in comparison with existing deep learning methods in terms of accuracy and computation time.The fast implementation of the 1D-CNN-LSTM algorithm makes it a promising tool for real-time crack detection.展开更多

A parametric study was conducted to evaluate the influence of different structural characteristics on the behavior of the double deck bridge under transverse seismic motions, and to detect the effect of bi- directional loading on the seismic response of this type of bridge. The results showed that some characteristics, such as the variable lateral stiffness, the foundation modelling, and the longitudinal reinforcement ratio of the upper and lower columns of the bridge pier bents have a major impact on the double deck bridge response and its failure mechanism under transverse seismic motions. It was found that the soft story failure mechanism :is not unique to the double deck bridge and its occurrence is related to some conditions and structural characteristics of the bridge structure. The analysis also showed that the seismic vulnerability of the double deck bridge under bi-directional loading: was severely increased compared to the bridge response under unidirectional transverse loading, and out-of-phase movements were triggered between adjacent girders.展开更多

Currently, FRP composites are becoming more popular in civil engineering applications. The objectives of this research are to study performance and behavior of light weight multi-cellular FRP composite bridge decks (both module and system levels) under various loading conditions through finite element modeling, and to validate analytical response of FRP composite bridge decks with data from laboratory evaluations. The relative deflection, equivalent flexural rigidity, failure load (mode) and load distribution factors (LDF) based on FE results have been compared with experimental data and discussed in detail. Using PSP...Ground penetrating radar (GPR) and the portable seismic property analyzer (PSPA) have been extensively used in the past two decades for monitoring, quantifying, and mapping the deterioration of bridge decks. Using PSPA and GPR ensures regular monitoring of bridge conditions, leads to the early detection of deterioration. This research is to address the condition of August A. Busch bridge deck owned by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Visual inspection, GPR, and PSPA data were acquired on the bridge deck. Over 90% of the bridge deck was in fair to good condition with an average compressive strength of over 2500 psi. GPR data showed no indication of significant deterioration. The overall bridge deck was determined to be in fair to good condition.展开更多
Traditional bridge monitoring systems often require wired connections between sensors,a data acquisition system,and data center.The use of extension wires,conduits,and other costly accessories can dramatically increas...Traditional bridge monitoring systems often require wired connections between sensors,a data acquisition system,and data center.The use of extension wires,conduits,and other costly accessories can dramatically increase the total cost of bridge monitoring.With the development of wireless technologies and the notable cost benefits,many researchers have been integrating wireless networks into bridge monitoring system.In this study,a wireless bridge monitoring system has been developed based on the Sub-1 GHz network.The main functional components of this system include sensors,wireless nodes,gateway and data center.Wireless nodes can convert analog signals obtained from the sensors to digital signals,then transmit the collected data to the gateway using the Sub1 GHz network.The gateway receives and sorts data from different wireless nodes and then forwards these data to the data center wirelessly.All collected data are processed in the data center using the data processing software developed in this study.In order to validate the performance of the wireless system developed in this study,a steel girder bridge was monitored in the field during the concrete deck construction.The field results were also compared with the theoretical values obtained from finite element models to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the wireless system.The results indicate that the wireless bridge monitoring system developed in this study is effective and affordable.The Sub-1 GHz network can be a better solution for bridges with complicated site conditions because of the extended data transmission distance.Although the power consumption can be controlled by using low-power consumption components,including the power control in software design can also dramatically reduce the system’s power consumption.展开更多
In order to study the fatigue properties of rib-to-deck welded connection and rib-to-rib welded connection in orthotropic steel bridge decks,a multi-scale finite element model was set up to analyze the stress distribu...In order to study the fatigue properties of rib-to-deck welded connection and rib-to-rib welded connection in orthotropic steel bridge decks,a multi-scale finite element model was set up to analyze the stress distribution characteristics and the load test was conducted on the Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge.Comparing the vehicle test results with the muli-scale finite element model results to verify the accuracy of the finite element simulation for the stress response of two welded details.The results indicated that The stress at the rib-to-deck welded connection and the rib-to-rib welded connection are the bending stress and the membrane stress,respectively;the stress response of the two welded connection has strong local characteristics;the lateral stress influence line of the two welded connection is relatively short and the length of the lateral stress influence line is greatly affected by the longitudinal ribs;increasing the thickness of the roof and longitudinal ribs can reduce the stress response and improve the stress performance of the heavy lanes.For the two welded details,the fatigue damage increment of the ordinary lane is greater than the heavy lane.The thickened roof and longitudinal ribs at the position of the heavy lane still cannot balance the fatigue damage caused by the heavy truck.Therefore,it is necessary to strictly control the fatigue effect of overloaded vehicles on steel box girders.展开更多

This paper presents an air-coupled impact echo(IE)technique that relies on the phase spectrum of the collected data to find the frequencies corresponding to the reflections from delaminations.The proposed technique ta...This paper presents an air-coupled impact echo(IE)technique that relies on the phase spectrum of the collected data to find the frequencies corresponding to the reflections from delaminations.The proposed technique takes advantage of the fact that the IE compression wave is not a propagating wave,but it is the 1st order symmetrical(S1)mode Lamb wave at zero group velocity(S1-ZGV).Therefore,it searches the phase spectra of the data collected by multiple sensors to locate the frequency corresponding to the lowest phase difference.As a result,the technique reduces the effect of propagating waves,including the direct acoustic wave and ambient noise.It is named the Constant Phase IE(CPIE).The performance of the CPIE is experimentally compared with the regular amplitude spectrum-based IE technique and two other multisensor IE techniques.The CPIE shows a performance advantage,especially in a noisy environment.展开更多
A comparison analysis of the heating properties of the hydronic heating system of bridge decks with external(exchange tubes installed at the bottom of the existing bridge deck with voids inside)or internal(exchange tu...A comparison analysis of the heating properties of the hydronic heating system of bridge decks with external(exchange tubes installed at the bottom of the existing bridge deck with voids inside)or internal(exchange tubes embedded in pavement of the newly built bridge deck)tubes was carried out through field tests.Two heating methods(constant heating power and constant inlet fluid temperature)were used to analyze the heat exchange flux and the temperature increments as well as thermally induced stress of the slab.Numerical simulation was conducted to model the bridge deck heating process to analyze the temperature distribution of the bridge surface.The results shows that the heat exchange flux are the same under the same constant heating powers for the two embedded tube position heating systems;the maximum temperature increment of the bridge deck surface obtained by the external heating system is 0.46 times that obtained by the internal heating system;the maximum thermally induced stress caused by the external heating is 20.4%of the concrete strength(19.1 MPa),which is much higher than that caused by the internal heating under the same heating powers.The thermal efficiencies of the external and internal heating systems are approximately 24.4%and 47.9%,respectively.Under the same constant inlet temperatures,the temperature increment of the bridge deck caused by the external heating is 20.4%of that of the internal heating.展开更多
The potential application of tuned liquid column damper (TLCD) for suppressing wind-induced vibration of long span bridges is explored in this paper.By installing the TLCD in the bridge deck,a mathematical model for t...The potential application of tuned liquid column damper (TLCD) for suppressing wind-induced vibration of long span bridges is explored in this paper.By installing the TLCD in the bridge deck,a mathematical model for the bridge-TLCD system is established.The governing equations of the system are developed by considering all three displacement components of the deck in vertical,lateral,and torsional vibrations,in which the interactions between the bridge deck,the TLCD,the aeroelastic forces,and the aerodynamic forces are fully reflected.Both buffeting and flutter analyses are carried out.The buffeting analysis is performed through random vibration approach,and a critical flutter condition is identified from flutter analysis.A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the control effectiveness of the damper and it is shown that the TLCD can be an effective device for suppressing wind-induced vibration of long span bridges,either for reducing the buffeting response or increasing the critical flutter wind velocity of the bridge.展开更多
Due to the complex structure and dense weld of the orthotropic steel bridge deck(OSBD),fatigue cracks are prone to occur in the typical welding details.Welding residual stress(WRS)will cause a plastic zone at the crac...Due to the complex structure and dense weld of the orthotropic steel bridge deck(OSBD),fatigue cracks are prone to occur in the typical welding details.Welding residual stress(WRS)will cause a plastic zone at the crack tip.In this paper,an elastoplastic constitutive model based on the Chaboche kinematic hardening model was introduced,and the extended finite element method(XFEM)was used to study the influence of material elastoplasticity and crack tip plastic zone on the law of fatigue crack propagation.By judging the stress state of the residual stress field at the crack tip and selecting different crack propagation rate models to investigate the crack propagation law when plastic deformation was considered,the propagation path and propagation rate of fatigue crack of the OSBD were obtained.The results show that,whether the residual stress field is considered or not,the plastic deformation at the crack tip will not cause the obvious closure of the fatigue crack at the U-rib toe during the crack propagation process,but will significantly affect the crack propagation path.When material plasticity is considered,the propagation angle of fatigue crack at the U-rib toe basically remains unchanged along the short-axis direction of the initial crack,but is going up along the long-axis direction,and the crack tip plastic zone inhibits the propagation of the crack tip on one side.Compared with linear elastic materials,the crack propagation law considering material plasticity is more consistent with that in actual bridge engineering.In terms of the propagation rate,if the residual stress field is not considered,the fatigue crack propagation rate at U-rib toe with plasticity considered is slightly higher than that without plasticity considered,because plastic deformation will affect the amplitude of energy release rate.When considering the WRS field,the fatigue crack propagation rate at U-rib toe is increased due to the combined actions of plastic deformation and stress ratio R.展开更多
Stress laminated timber(SLT)deck is assembled using timber(umber or glulam)components placed side by side and stressed together,which has the advantages of easy prefabrication and good cost performance.This work pre-s...Stress laminated timber(SLT)deck is assembled using timber(umber or glulam)components placed side by side and stressed together,which has the advantages of easy prefabrication and good cost performance.This work pre-sented an experimental investigation of bending tests per formed on SLT slabs.Several parameters,including pre-stress levels,distance of pre-stressing bars,and the existence of self tapping screw(STS)reinforcement,were taken into consideration.To reinforce the compressive property of timber perpendicular to the grain,the STSs were placed under the anchor plate of the pre-stressed bars.The experimental results were analyzed and discussed in terms of failure modes,ultimate bearing capacity,ultimate strain,and bending sifness.It was found that the SLT slab showed satisfactory composite action as well as resid ual bearing capacity.The pre stress levels showed an obvious effect on the load bearing capacity and relatively slight effect on the bending stiffness.展开更多
Geothermal heating of bridge decks is a reliable and sustainable method for bridge de-icing that has been in-creasing in demand since conventional de-icing methods were proved to be environmentally hazardous.Previous ...Geothermal heating of bridge decks is a reliable and sustainable method for bridge de-icing that has been in-creasing in demand since conventional de-icing methods were proved to be environmentally hazardous.Previous research on geothermal heating of bridge decks relied on hydronic pipes embedded inside of bridge decks,which are confined to newly constructed bridges.For existing bridges,a newly devised method for external heating has been recently tested under limited laboratory conditions to determine its overall performance.This study explores laboratory heating tests of a concrete slab with a thickness representing a typical concrete bridge deck.This slab was equipped with a simulated geothermal bridge de-icing system and tested inside a freezer subjected to sub-freezing controlled conditions.Various winter scenarios were applied to the system to determine its heat-ing performance and how feasible it will be for the system to be transferred to the field.A prediction equation was developed to estimate the total energy reserves required to permit de-icing,and statistical analysis was performed and validated with test results.The slab surface heat flux was estimated to range from 27 W/m^(2) K to 73 W/m^(2) K from the heating test.The externally-heated deck can be designed with the developed prediction equation for snow melting.展开更多
This research investigated a pavement system on steel bridge decks that use epoxy resin(EP)bonded ultra-high performance concrete(UHPC).Through FEM analysis and static and dynamic bending fatigue tests of the composit...This research investigated a pavement system on steel bridge decks that use epoxy resin(EP)bonded ultra-high performance concrete(UHPC).Through FEM analysis and static and dynamic bending fatigue tests of the composite structure,the influences of the interface of the pavement layer,reinforcement,and different paving materials on the structural performance were compared and analyzed.The results show that the resin bonded UHPC pavement structure can reduce the weld strain in the steel plate by about 32%and the relative deflection between ribs by about 52%under standard axial load conditions compared to traditional pavements.The EP bonding layer can nearly double the drawing strength of the pavement interface from 1.3 MPa,and improve the bending resistance of the UHPC structure on steel bridge decks by about 50%;the bending resistance of reinforced UHPC structures is twice that of unreinforced UHPC structure,and the dynamic deflection of the UHPC pavement structure increases exponentially with increasing fatigue load.The fatigue life is about 1.2×10^(7) cycles under a fixed force of 9 kN and a dynamic deflection of 0.35 mm,which meets the requirements for fatigue performance of pavements on steel bridge decks under traffic conditions of large flow and heavy load.展开更多
To examine the seismic resistance performance of a steel arch bridge during a strong earthquake,an approach is proposed in this paper to determine the ultimate strain of an arch rib using the static elasto-plastic lar...To examine the seismic resistance performance of a steel arch bridge during a strong earthquake,an approach is proposed in this paper to determine the ultimate strain of an arch rib using the static elasto-plastic large deformation theory.A steel fixed-end deck arch bridge with a span length of 200 m was used as an example in this study.The ultimate strain of the arch rib was calculated using the elasto-plastic finite element model.The seismic responses of the arch bridge exposed to strong earthquakes in two and three directions were also simulated.Moreover,the effect of earthquake motion in the lateral direction on the elasto-plastic earthquake response was discussed,and the seismic resistance of the structure was analyzed.The results show that steel arch bridges have preferable seismic resistance under strong earthquake conditions.While lateral earthquake motion has some influence on the damage to an arch bridge,it has little effect on the displacement,axial force,and bending moment responses of the arch rib.It is feasible to examine the seismic performance of the arch bridge by ascertaining the out-of-plane and in-plane earthquake responses of the bridge.展开更多

文摘Traditional bridge monitoring systems often require wired connections between sensors,a data acquisition system,and data center.The use of extension wires,conduits,and other costly accessories can dramatically increase the total cost of bridge monitoring.With the development of wireless technologies and the notable cost benefits,many researchers have been integrating wireless networks into bridge monitoring system.In this study,a wireless bridge monitoring system has been developed based on the Sub-1 GHz network.The main functional components of this system include sensors,wireless nodes,gateway and data center.Wireless nodes can convert analog signals obtained from the sensors to digital signals,then transmit the collected data to the gateway using the Sub1 GHz network.The gateway receives and sorts data from different wireless nodes and then forwards these data to the data center wirelessly.All collected data are processed in the data center using the data processing software developed in this study.In order to validate the performance of the wireless system developed in this study,a steel girder bridge was monitored in the field during the concrete deck construction.The field results were also compared with the theoretical values obtained from finite element models to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the wireless system.The results indicate that the wireless bridge monitoring system developed in this study is effective and affordable.The Sub-1 GHz network can be a better solution for bridges with complicated site conditions because of the extended data transmission distance.Although the power consumption can be controlled by using low-power consumption components,including the power control in software design can also dramatically reduce the system’s power consumption.

文摘In order to study the fatigue properties of rib-to-deck welded connection and rib-to-rib welded connection in orthotropic steel bridge decks,a multi-scale finite element model was set up to analyze the stress distribution characteristics and the load test was conducted on the Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge.Comparing the vehicle test results with the muli-scale finite element model results to verify the accuracy of the finite element simulation for the stress response of two welded details.The results indicated that The stress at the rib-to-deck welded connection and the rib-to-rib welded connection are the bending stress and the membrane stress,respectively;the stress response of the two welded connection has strong local characteristics;the lateral stress influence line of the two welded connection is relatively short and the length of the lateral stress influence line is greatly affected by the longitudinal ribs;increasing the thickness of the roof and longitudinal ribs can reduce the stress response and improve the stress performance of the heavy lanes.For the two welded details,the fatigue damage increment of the ordinary lane is greater than the heavy lane.The thickened roof and longitudinal ribs at the position of the heavy lane still cannot balance the fatigue damage caused by the heavy truck.Therefore,it is necessary to strictly control the fatigue effect of overloaded vehicles on steel box girders.
文摘Along with the popularization and application of the steel bridge in China,due to the high modulus of asphalt concrete with good waterproof,anti-fatigue,anti-aging and good performance,asphalt concrete with high modulus was widely used in steel bridge deck pavement,the test and comparative study of high modulus asphalt concrete were carried out based on two types of common high modulus asphalt concrete which include the casting type asphalt concrete and epoxy resin modified asphalt concrete,aims to further explore the performance features of the steel bridge deck with high modulus asphalt concrete,and provide help on the application of this asphalt concrete on the steel bridge deck.
文摘In this paper,a research was conducted on the design technology of continuous beam-arch composite bridges.A brief introduction is given on the of continuous beam-arch composite bridges,its basic mechanical characteristics is analyzed,and three aspects of design technology is studied,which are rise-span ratio,stiffness ratio,and bridge deck cracking.This article acts as a reference for relevant design units in China to improve the design of continuous beam-arch combination bridges.
文摘This paper presents an air-coupled impact echo(IE)technique that relies on the phase spectrum of the collected data to find the frequencies corresponding to the reflections from delaminations.The proposed technique takes advantage of the fact that the IE compression wave is not a propagating wave,but it is the 1st order symmetrical(S1)mode Lamb wave at zero group velocity(S1-ZGV).Therefore,it searches the phase spectra of the data collected by multiple sensors to locate the frequency corresponding to the lowest phase difference.As a result,the technique reduces the effect of propagating waves,including the direct acoustic wave and ambient noise.It is named the Constant Phase IE(CPIE).The performance of the CPIE is experimentally compared with the regular amplitude spectrum-based IE technique and two other multisensor IE techniques.The CPIE shows a performance advantage,especially in a noisy environment.

文摘A comparison analysis of the heating properties of the hydronic heating system of bridge decks with external(exchange tubes installed at the bottom of the existing bridge deck with voids inside)or internal(exchange tubes embedded in pavement of the newly built bridge deck)tubes was carried out through field tests.Two heating methods(constant heating power and constant inlet fluid temperature)were used to analyze the heat exchange flux and the temperature increments as well as thermally induced stress of the slab.Numerical simulation was conducted to model the bridge deck heating process to analyze the temperature distribution of the bridge surface.The results shows that the heat exchange flux are the same under the same constant heating powers for the two embedded tube position heating systems;the maximum temperature increment of the bridge deck surface obtained by the external heating system is 0.46 times that obtained by the internal heating system;the maximum thermally induced stress caused by the external heating is 20.4%of the concrete strength(19.1 MPa),which is much higher than that caused by the internal heating under the same heating powers.The thermal efficiencies of the external and internal heating systems are approximately 24.4%and 47.9%,respectively.Under the same constant inlet temperatures,the temperature increment of the bridge deck caused by the external heating is 20.4%of that of the internal heating.

文摘The potential application of tuned liquid column damper (TLCD) for suppressing wind-induced vibration of long span bridges is explored in this paper.By installing the TLCD in the bridge deck,a mathematical model for the bridge-TLCD system is established.The governing equations of the system are developed by considering all three displacement components of the deck in vertical,lateral,and torsional vibrations,in which the interactions between the bridge deck,the TLCD,the aeroelastic forces,and the aerodynamic forces are fully reflected.Both buffeting and flutter analyses are carried out.The buffeting analysis is performed through random vibration approach,and a critical flutter condition is identified from flutter analysis.A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the control effectiveness of the damper and it is shown that the TLCD can be an effective device for suppressing wind-induced vibration of long span bridges,either for reducing the buffeting response or increasing the critical flutter wind velocity of the bridge.

文摘Due to the complex structure and dense weld of the orthotropic steel bridge deck(OSBD),fatigue cracks are prone to occur in the typical welding details.Welding residual stress(WRS)will cause a plastic zone at the crack tip.In this paper,an elastoplastic constitutive model based on the Chaboche kinematic hardening model was introduced,and the extended finite element method(XFEM)was used to study the influence of material elastoplasticity and crack tip plastic zone on the law of fatigue crack propagation.By judging the stress state of the residual stress field at the crack tip and selecting different crack propagation rate models to investigate the crack propagation law when plastic deformation was considered,the propagation path and propagation rate of fatigue crack of the OSBD were obtained.The results show that,whether the residual stress field is considered or not,the plastic deformation at the crack tip will not cause the obvious closure of the fatigue crack at the U-rib toe during the crack propagation process,but will significantly affect the crack propagation path.When material plasticity is considered,the propagation angle of fatigue crack at the U-rib toe basically remains unchanged along the short-axis direction of the initial crack,but is going up along the long-axis direction,and the crack tip plastic zone inhibits the propagation of the crack tip on one side.Compared with linear elastic materials,the crack propagation law considering material plasticity is more consistent with that in actual bridge engineering.In terms of the propagation rate,if the residual stress field is not considered,the fatigue crack propagation rate at U-rib toe with plasticity considered is slightly higher than that without plasticity considered,because plastic deformation will affect the amplitude of energy release rate.When considering the WRS field,the fatigue crack propagation rate at U-rib toe is increased due to the combined actions of plastic deformation and stress ratio R.

文摘Stress laminated timber(SLT)deck is assembled using timber(umber or glulam)components placed side by side and stressed together,which has the advantages of easy prefabrication and good cost performance.This work pre-sented an experimental investigation of bending tests per formed on SLT slabs.Several parameters,including pre-stress levels,distance of pre-stressing bars,and the existence of self tapping screw(STS)reinforcement,were taken into consideration.To reinforce the compressive property of timber perpendicular to the grain,the STSs were placed under the anchor plate of the pre-stressed bars.The experimental results were analyzed and discussed in terms of failure modes,ultimate bearing capacity,ultimate strain,and bending sifness.It was found that the SLT slab showed satisfactory composite action as well as resid ual bearing capacity.The pre stress levels showed an obvious effect on the load bearing capacity and relatively slight effect on the bending stiffness.

文摘Geothermal heating of bridge decks is a reliable and sustainable method for bridge de-icing that has been in-creasing in demand since conventional de-icing methods were proved to be environmentally hazardous.Previous research on geothermal heating of bridge decks relied on hydronic pipes embedded inside of bridge decks,which are confined to newly constructed bridges.For existing bridges,a newly devised method for external heating has been recently tested under limited laboratory conditions to determine its overall performance.This study explores laboratory heating tests of a concrete slab with a thickness representing a typical concrete bridge deck.This slab was equipped with a simulated geothermal bridge de-icing system and tested inside a freezer subjected to sub-freezing controlled conditions.Various winter scenarios were applied to the system to determine its heat-ing performance and how feasible it will be for the system to be transferred to the field.A prediction equation was developed to estimate the total energy reserves required to permit de-icing,and statistical analysis was performed and validated with test results.The slab surface heat flux was estimated to range from 27 W/m^(2) K to 73 W/m^(2) K from the heating test.The externally-heated deck can be designed with the developed prediction equation for snow melting.

文摘This research investigated a pavement system on steel bridge decks that use epoxy resin(EP)bonded ultra-high performance concrete(UHPC).Through FEM analysis and static and dynamic bending fatigue tests of the composite structure,the influences of the interface of the pavement layer,reinforcement,and different paving materials on the structural performance were compared and analyzed.The results show that the resin bonded UHPC pavement structure can reduce the weld strain in the steel plate by about 32%and the relative deflection between ribs by about 52%under standard axial load conditions compared to traditional pavements.The EP bonding layer can nearly double the drawing strength of the pavement interface from 1.3 MPa,and improve the bending resistance of the UHPC structure on steel bridge decks by about 50%;the bending resistance of reinforced UHPC structures is twice that of unreinforced UHPC structure,and the dynamic deflection of the UHPC pavement structure increases exponentially with increasing fatigue load.The fatigue life is about 1.2×10^(7) cycles under a fixed force of 9 kN and a dynamic deflection of 0.35 mm,which meets the requirements for fatigue performance of pavements on steel bridge decks under traffic conditions of large flow and heavy load.
文摘To examine the seismic resistance performance of a steel arch bridge during a strong earthquake,an approach is proposed in this paper to determine the ultimate strain of an arch rib using the static elasto-plastic large deformation theory.A steel fixed-end deck arch bridge with a span length of 200 m was used as an example in this study.The ultimate strain of the arch rib was calculated using the elasto-plastic finite element model.The seismic responses of the arch bridge exposed to strong earthquakes in two and three directions were also simulated.Moreover,the effect of earthquake motion in the lateral direction on the elasto-plastic earthquake response was discussed,and the seismic resistance of the structure was analyzed.The results show that steel arch bridges have preferable seismic resistance under strong earthquake conditions.While lateral earthquake motion has some influence on the damage to an arch bridge,it has little effect on the displacement,axial force,and bending moment responses of the arch rib.It is feasible to examine the seismic performance of the arch bridge by ascertaining the out-of-plane and in-plane earthquake responses of the bridge.
