Limestone and IOTs were used to investigate the influence of different types of coarse aggregates on the compressive strengths of concrete samples. The dif- ferences in interfacial transition zones (ITZs) between aggregate and paste were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and ener- gy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Meanwhile, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (IR) were used to study microscopic changes in limestone and IOTs powders in a simple alkaline environment that simulated cement. The results show that the compressive strengths of IOTs concrete or paste are higher than those of limestone concrete or paste under identical conditions. The Ca/Si atom ratios in the ITZs of IOTs con- crete samples are lower than those of limestone concrete;the diffraction peak of the calcium silicate phase at 2θ = 29.5°, as well as the bands of Si O bonds shifting to lower wavenumbers, indicates reconstruction of the broken Si-O-Si bonds on the surfaces of IOTs with Ca(OH)2.展开更多

A discrete element method (DEM) is used to simulate the interaction between drifting ice floes and a moving ship. The pancake ice floes are modelled with three-dimensional (3-D) dilated disk elements considering the buoyancy, drag force and additional mass induced by the current. The ship hull is modelled with 3D disks with overlaps. Ice loads on the ship hull are determined through the contact detection between ice floe element and ship hull element and the contact force calculation. The influences of different ice conditions (current velocities and directions, ice thicknesses, concentrations and ice floe sizes) and ship speeds are also examined on the dynamic ice force. The simulated results are compared qualitatively well with the existing field data and other numerical results. This work can be helpful in the shil3 structure design and the navigation securitv in ice-covered fields.展开更多

Compared with a discrete Fourier transformation, the parametric spectrum estimation technique has a higher frequency accuracy and resolution. However, the existing detection methods based on parametric spectrum estima- tion cannot realize online detection, owing to the large computational cost. To improve the efficiency of BRB fault detection, a new detection method based on the min-norm algorithm and least square estimation is proposed in this paper. First, the stator current is filtered using a band-pass filter and divided into short overlapped data windows. The min-norm algorithm is then applied to determine the fre- quencies of the fundamental and fault characteristic com- ponents with each overlapped data window. Next, based on the frequency values obtained, a model of the fault current signal is constructed. Subsequently, a linear least squares problem solved through singular value decomposition is designed to estimate the amplitudes and phases of the related components. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a simulated current and an actual motor, the results of which indicate that, not only parametric spectrum estimation technique.展开更多

Although many detection methods have been proposed for this problem, the frequency resolution and accuracy are not high enough so that the reliability of BRB fault detection is a ected. Thus, a new multiple signal classification(MUSIC) algorithm based on particle swarm intelligence search is developed. Since spectrum peak search in MUSIC is a multimodal optimization problem, an improved bare?bones particle swarm optimization algorithm(IBPSO) is proposed first. In the IBPSO, a modified strategy of subpopulation determination is introduced into BPSO for realizing multimodal search. And then, the new MUSIC algorithm, called IBPSO?based MUSIC, is proposed by replacing the fixed?step traversal search with IBPSO. Meanwhile, a simulation signal is used to test the e ectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The simulation results show that its frequency precision reaches 10-5, and the computational cost is only comparable to that of traditional MUSIC with 0.1 search step. Finally, the IBPSO?based MUSIC is applied in BRB fault detection of an induction motor, and the e ectiveness and superiority are proved again. The proposed research provides a modified MUSIC algorithm which has su cient frequency precision to detect BRB fault in induction motors.展开更多

Discrete Fourier transform(DFT) is the most popular technique in this field, owing to low computation and easy realization. However, its accuracy is often limited by the data window length, spectral leakage, fence e ect, etc. Therefore, a new detection method based on a global optimization algorithm is proposed. First, a BRB fault current model and a residual error function are designed to transform the fault parameter detection problem into a nonlinear least-square problem. Because this optimization problem has a great number of local optima and needs to be resolved rapidly and accurately, a joint algorithm(called TR-MBPSO) based on a modified bare-bones particle swarm optimization(BPSO) and trust region(TR) is subsequently proposed. In the TR-MBPSO, a reinitialization strategy of inactive particle is introduced to the BPSO to enhance the swarm diversity and global search ability. Meanwhile, the TR is combined with the modified BPSO to improve convergence speed and accuracy. It also includes a global convergence analysis, whose result proves that the TR-MBPSO can converge to the global optimum with the probability of 1. Both simulations and experiments are conducted, and the results indicate that the proposed detection method not only has high accuracy of parameter estimation with short-time data window, e.g., the magnitude and frequency precision of the fault-related components reaches 10^(-4), but also overcomes the impacts of spectral leakage and non-integer-period sampling. The proposed research provides a new BRB detection method, which has enough precision to extract the parameters of the fault feature components.展开更多

文摘AIM:To determine the Bruch's membrane opening-minimum rim width(BMO-MRW) tipping point where corresponding visual field(VF) damages become detectable.METHODS:A total of 85 normal subjects and 83 glaucoma patients(one eye per participant) were recruited for the study. All of the patients had VF examinations and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography to measure the BMO-MRW.Total deviation values for 52 VF points were allocated to the corresponding sector according to the Garway-Heath distribution map.To evaluate the relationship between VF loss and BMOMRW measurements,a "broken-stick" statistical model was used. The tipping point where the VF values started to sharply decrease as a function of BMO-MRW measurements was estimated and the slopes above and below this tipping point were compared.RESULTS:A 25.9% global BMO-MRW loss from normative value was required for the VF loss to be detectable.Sectorally, substantial BMO-MRW thinning in inferotemporal sector(33.1%) and relatively less BMO-MRW thinning in the superotemporal sector(8.9%) were necessary for the detection of the VF loss.Beyond the tipping point, the slopes were close to zero throughout all of the sectors and the VF loss was unrelated to the BMO-MRW loss. The VF loss was related to the BMO-MRW loss below the tipping point. The difference between the two slopes was statistically significant(P≤0.002).CONCLUSION:Substantial BMO-MRW loss appears to be necessary for VF loss to be detectable in patients with open angle glaucoma with standard achromatic perimetry.

文摘In this paper, a new variational formulation for a reaction-diffusion problem in broken Sobolev space is proposed. And the new formulation in the broken Sobolev space will be proved that it is well-posed and equivalent to the standard Galerkin variational formulation. The method will be helpful to easily solve the original partial differential equation numerically. And the method is novel and interesting, which can be used to deal with some complicated problem, such as the low regularity problem, the differential-integral problem and so on.
文摘Stuck up and fracture of coronary angioplasty hardware are unwonted complications of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) for which surgical retrieval and management is once in a while required. We present one case of a 59-year-old diabetic, a hypertensive gentleman who attended the emergency room (ER) with central chest pain for 2 hours. After evaluation of the patient <span>by physical and noninvasive diagnostic tests, he was diagnosed as a case of</span> acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with stable hemodynamic. For the aforementioned findings, the patient was treated first with a thrombolytic agent in <span>ER and then shifted to Cardiology Department for monitoring and further</span> <span>coronary evaluation by coronary angiography (CAG). CAG revealed essen</span><span>tially single vessel disease (SVD) with complex left anterior descending (LAD) </span>artery lesion, so PCI was attempted but failed with an unfortunate incidence of the broken delivery shaft and left <i>in vivo</i>. Immediate decision making and <span>surgical management for retrieval of lost angioplasty device and correction</span> coronary lesion with revascularization save the patient from grave complica<span>tion. All the series of events and management approaches of this very com</span>plex coronary artery lesion are discussed in this article.
文摘Numerous investigations on submarine hydrothermal ore-forming occurrence have been actively carried out in the last two decades with significant results. The Ag and Au enrichments in the sulfides from black smokers ofhydrothermal vent field Broken Spur(MAR) aroused our interest to study their mineral hosting forms.Samples were collected from seven hydrothermal chimneys within Broken Spur in the British-Russian BRAVEX(1994) and
文摘Based on experiments in lab, this paper analyzes the mechanism of directional broken controlled blasting and applies the technology to the cutting by utilizing its characteristic. The model cutting experiment and the practical application result show that the cutting blasting technology is an effective way.
文摘篢hrough the discussion of the SU (2) group, a particular gauge transformation equation is introduced to prove that use of different gauge transformation methods may lead to vacuum broken of different components in a scalar field. It is pointed out that the arbitrary nature of the selected vacuum state may be attributed to gauge invariance.
