The bulk nanocomposite magnets of Nd9Fes1-xTi4C2Nb4Bx (x= 11, 13, 15) in sheet form with the thickness of 0.7 mm were prepared by copper mold suction casting and subsequently annealing. The microstructure evolution and magnetic properties of bulk magnets were studied. It was shown that the as-cast microstmcture ofbtflk alloys were composed ofNdEFe14B, a-Fe, FeaB crystalline phases and an amorphous matrix, and that the glass formability of alloy was improved with increasing the B content. The DSC analysis showed that the as-cast bulk alloys had the crystallization behavior of a two-step process. After annealing at the temperatures which was 40453 K higher than their onset temperatures of the second exothermic peak, Nd9Fe81 xTi4C2Nb4Bx (x=11, 13, 15) bulk alloys obtained a finely mixed structure which were composed of Nd2Fe14B, a-Fe, Fe3B, (Nb,Ti)C crystalline phases and a residual amorphous phase, whose magnetic properties were significantly enhanced. For the bulk magnets of Nd9Fes1-xTi4CENb4Bx (x=11, 13, 15), the optimal magnetic properties of Br=0.63 T, iHc= 155.1 kA/m, (BH)max= 18.73 kJ/m3 could be achieved when x= 13 after annealing at 983 K for 10 min. 展开更多

The high temperature superconducting REBa2 Cu3 O7-x(REBCO)bulk with a diameter of only a few centimeters can trap a tesla⁃level magnetic field at a moderate temperature. The high magnetic field in such a compact structure makes the REBCO bulk magnet widely applicable in many scenarios, such as in motor, generator, and bearing for flywheel. This review focuses on some research areas using the REBCO bulk magnet, which is quite interesting but has attracted little attention, including magnet lens, compact NMR,magnetron sputtering system, drug magnetic targeting system, magnetic separation, and magnetic mirror. In all of these areas, the REBCO bulk magnet shows its own advantages of having a high magnetic field but a small size to improve the final function. 展开更多

Determination of dry bulk density and water content measurement of magnetic susceptibility (x) and saturation isothermal remanent magnetization (SIRM), determination of carbonate content, and determination of total organic carbon (TOC) content nitrogen content (N%) and carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratio are some of the techniques which have been widely applied to lacustrine-sediment analyses. The techniques, complemented by others, are usually useful for revealing characteristics of lacustrine-sediments and thus for postulating hydrological regimes in the lake and environmental conditions and human activity around it in palaeolimnological studies. A very brief review is presented on recent applications of these techniques in palaeolimnological work with English literatures published mainly since 1985 and focus given on interpretations of results of these analyses related to palaeoenvironmental reconstructions. Low dry bulk density and high water content often imply relatively warm and wet conditions. High X and SIRM are usually resulted from reduced dilutions in the lake and intensified erosions on its catchment. both of which can be in turn attributed to environmental changes. While variations in patterns of X and SIRM may give further insight on mineral magnetism and thus implications on environmental conditions. Increased carbonate content seems likely to associate to warm and dry conditions.Increased TOC content is virtually used as one of indicators of warm and wet conditions and variations in C/N ratio may hint variations in relative contributions of different sources, aquatic and terrestrial, to the total organic matter in lake sediments and hence to lake-level fluctuations and climate changes. 展开更多

The alloying effects of the like-atom substitution of Ni and Co for Fe on the various properties of Fe_(70)B_(16.7)Si_(8.3)Ta_5 metallic glass are investigated in this present work. New Fe-based bulk glassy alloys, namely Fe_(60–x)Co_xNi_(10)B_(16.7)Si_(8.3)Ta_5(at.%;x = 10, 20 and 30) with critical diameters up to 1.5 mm, were made by means of copper mold casting.A new glass-forming ability indicator, viz., the enthalpy of supercooled liquid, has been introduced for assessment of the glass-forming abilities(GFAs) of these Fe-based multi-component alloys. Nano-indentation results indicate that the calculated elastic modulus and hardness of the bulk glassy alloys are lower than those of the Fe_(70)B_(16.7)Si_(8.3)Ta_5 alloy.Among these bulk glassy alloys, Fe_(70)B_(16.7)Si_(8.3)Ta_5 exhibits the large elastic modulus and hardness with values of 178 ± 1GPa and 12.9 ± 0.1 GPa, respectively. All the bulk glassy alloys exhibit good soft magnetic properties with high saturation magnetization Bs^0.75–1.04 T but low coercive force Hc^0.2–5.2 A/m. 展开更多
