Causal association of obesity-related anthropometric traits with myopia and the mediating role of educational attainment:a Mendelian randomization study

AIM:To study the causal relationship between obesityrelated anthropometric traits and myopia and the mediating role of educational attainment(EA).METHODS:Univariable Mendelian randomization(UVMR)was performed to evaluate the causal association between body mass index(BMI),height,waist-hip ratio(WHR,adjusted for BMI),and mean spherical equivalent(MSE).BMI was divided into fat and fat-free mass and included in multivariable Mendelian randomization(MVMR)to explore the roles of different BMI components in the causal relationship between BMI and MSE.A mediation analysis based on two-step Mendelian randomization(MR)was carried out.Specifically,UVMR was conducted to estimate the causal effect of BMI on EA.The direct effect of EA on MSE was estimated from MVMR.The mediation effect of EA in the BMI-EA-MSE model was calculated by the product of coefficients method.Expression quantitative trait loci(eQTL)-MR,reverse MR,and Linkage Disequilibrium Score Regression(LDSC)were performed to assess the robustness.RESULTS:Genetically predicted higher BMI had a positive total effect on MSE(βIVW=0.26 D,95%CI=0.14 to 0.37 D,P<0.001),whereas there was no significant association between height,WHR,and MSE.Fat mass was found to play a significant role in the effect of body mass on MSE(βIVW=0.50 D,95%CI=0.21 to 0.78 D,P=0.001),but there was no significant association between fat-free mass and MSE.The causal effect of BMI on EA was-0.14(95%CI=-0.16 to-0.11,P<0.001),and the direct effect of EA on MSE was-0.63 D(95%CI=-0.81 to-0.44 D,P<0.001).The mediating effect of EA in the BMI-EA-MSE model was 0.09 D(95%CI=0.06 to 0.12 D),with a mediation proportion of 33%(95%CI=22.1%to 44.6%).No reverse causal associations were detected except for BMI on EA.The results of eQTL-MR and LDSC were consistent with each MR analysis.CONCLUSION:Genetically predicted higher BMI decreases the degree of myopia with a 33%mediation proportion by EA,and fat mass provides a dominant protective role in body mass-myopia.As a supplement to previous observational studies,it provides strong evidence for the relationship between anthropometric traits and refractive errors and offers a theoretical basis for future measures to prevent and control myopia. 展开更多

Introduction: The Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) for the past many years has been reported to have many cities with highly polluted air quality. The state has been taking meticulous steps in combating air pollution in the form of action plans, introduced especially in its 17 non-attainment cities (NAC). To assess the progress and development of these action plans in UP, the present study has done an in-depth analysis and review of the state’s action plans and city micro action plans. Materials and Methods: In this research study, the analysis of the latest action plan reports, micro action plan reports as well as the recommendations for combating air pollution-related issues in the 17 NAC of the UP state has been well documented. Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has prepared these reports to highlight the progress of the plans in response to the growing air pollution in these cities. The information present in the reports has been used to further study sector-specific, category-specific action plans, institutional responsibility, and the present status of the action plans. Results: On average, the highest weightage in action plans was given to sector-specific categories such as Road dust and construction activities (24%). It was also observed that Urban local bodies (~50%) were majorly responsible to implement the action points and 56% of the action points were jointly implemented by multiple agencies. 展开更多

Previous research suggests that planning interventions lead to increased goal attainment, while other researchsuggests that goal attainment leads to increased well-being. This research integrates these two sets of researchfindings by investigating the effectiveness of one goal planning intervention, the SMART goal program, on goalattainment, and thus need satisfaction and well-being, in university students. An experimental design across aone-week period was employed to test whether participants in the experimental group, who received the SMARTgoal instructions, better obtained their goal in comparison to control group participants who did not receive thosespecific instructions. Findings indicated that the SMART goal program led to greater rated goal attainment andneed satisfaction, but not greater subjective well-being (SWB). Nevertheless, one component of SWB, positiveaffect, was greater in the Experimental group. Type of individually chosen self-concordant goal content hadno impact on whether participants attained their goal. 展开更多

This paper deals with the development of sample characteristics of wage distribution in recent years in the Czech Republic by the highest educational attainment. Gross monthly wage is the variable investigated. We distinguish the following scale of the highest educational attainment: primary and incomplete education, secondary education without GCSE, secondary education with GCSE, higher vocational and bachelor education and tertiary education. Forecasts of wage distribution have been developed for the next two years for all of these categories. Three-parametric lognormal curve formed the basis of the theoretical probability distribution. Parameter values of relevant three-parametric lognormal curves were then estimated using the method of L-moments of parameter estimation. Forecasts of sample values of L-moments were calculated using trend analysis of their past development and the parameters of three-parametric Iognormal curves for forecasts of wage distribution were calculated using the predicted values of the first three sample L-moments. We have obtained the forecasts of wage distribution by the highest educational attainment on the basis of these probability density functions. 展开更多

目的基于达标理论探讨阶段性护理联合认知能力干预在老年脑卒中患者中的应用效果。方法选取2020年5月至2022年12月在河南科技大学第一附属医院治疗的106例老年脑卒中患者作为研究对象。采取随机数字表法将患者分为两组,对照组接受常规护... 目的基于达标理论探讨阶段性护理联合认知能力干预在老年脑卒中患者中的应用效果。方法选取2020年5月至2022年12月在河南科技大学第一附属医院治疗的106例老年脑卒中患者作为研究对象。采取随机数字表法将患者分为两组,对照组接受常规护理,研究组在常规护理基础上接受基于达标理论的阶段性护理联合认知能力干预。比较两组干预后的护理依从性、日常生活能力、吞咽功能及肺部感染情况。结果研究组的护理依从性(90.57%)高于对照组(69.81%)(P<0.05);两组护理后日常生活能力量表(ADL)评分均高于护理前(P<0.05),且研究组护理后ADL评分高于对照组(P<0.05);研究组吞咽功能的临床疗效(94.34%)高于对照组(81.13%)(P<0.05);研究组肺部感染率(5.66%)低于对照组(20.75%)(P<0.05)。结论基于达标理论的阶段性护理联合认知能力干预可有效提高老年脑卒中患者护理依从性、生活自理能力及吞咽功能,且降低患者的肺部感染率。 展开更多

家庭第一代大学生就业关系着高等教育促进社会流动、阻断贫困代际传递重要功能的实现。基于2022年度全国高校本科毕业生调查数据分析发现,与非一代大学生相比,家庭第一代大学生在毕业去向上更倾向于选择就业而非升学,但两个群体在起薪... 家庭第一代大学生就业关系着高等教育促进社会流动、阻断贫困代际传递重要功能的实现。基于2022年度全国高校本科毕业生调查数据分析发现,与非一代大学生相比,家庭第一代大学生在毕业去向上更倾向于选择就业而非升学,但两个群体在起薪和工作满意度上的差异不显著;除了毕业去向,非认知能力也会影响初职起薪和工作满意度,但没有充足证据表明家庭第一代大学生从中获益更大;在对就业去向的影响中,非认知能力与认知能力发挥着相互补充和替代作用,但是这种影响在两类群体之间具有一致性;家庭第一代大学生非认知能力显著低于非一代大学生,通过更多的同伴互动、社会实践活动、家庭情感支持、学校归属感和更低的家庭成就内疚感可提高其非认知能力。 展开更多

术语英译中学者型译者身份与译者行为关系研究——以《淮南子》两译本中古代天文术语英译为例

2010年《淮南子》两部英译本问世,分别来自美国学者约翰·马绛团队和中国学者翟江月、牟爱鹏。基于“求真—务实”连续统评价模式,本研究对马译本和翟译本中230个天文术语英译的译者行为进行比较分析。研究发现,翻译内两译本均呈现... 2010年《淮南子》两部英译本问世,分别来自美国学者约翰·马绛团队和中国学者翟江月、牟爱鹏。基于“求真—务实”连续统评价模式,本研究对马译本和翟译本中230个天文术语英译的译者行为进行比较分析。研究发现,翻译内两译本均呈现“求真为本,求真兼顾务实”的译者行为倾向,仅马译本有“译外超务实”倾向;学者型译者身份下“学者”和“译者”角色对两译本译者行为的影响程度不同,马译本充分保留“学者”特色,翟译本恪守“译者”本分。本研究考察了相同译者身份下译者行为的异同,进一步揭示了译者角色在翻译内外对译者行为的不同影响。 展开更多

中国青年何以自豪?——青年受教育程度与国家自豪感的关系演变(1995—2018年)

文章基于1995—2018年世界价值观的中国调查数据,利用多层年龄—时期—队列模型,以18—35岁青年为研究对象,分解出青年受教育程度对其国家自豪感影响在时期和队列变迁中的演变趋势。实证结果显示,从总体上来看,中等学历青年的国家自豪... 文章基于1995—2018年世界价值观的中国调查数据,利用多层年龄—时期—队列模型,以18—35岁青年为研究对象,分解出青年受教育程度对其国家自豪感影响在时期和队列变迁中的演变趋势。实证结果显示,从总体上来看,中等学历青年的国家自豪感最强,高等学历青年次之,初等学历青年最弱。随着时期推移,我国青年总体上的国家自豪感呈“U形”变迁趋势,其中,1995—2012年的先降后升趋势主要与初等学历和中等学历青年的国家自豪感变化有关,而2018年达到最高点则主要与高等学历青年国家自豪感的加速提升有关。随着队列年轻化,青年国家自豪感呈现出“三个高峰”的趋势,并依次由初等学历、中等学历、高等学历青年的国家自豪感变化所引起。由此来看,在时期和队列变迁中,较低学历青年的规范性国家自豪感会随个人地位及其生活体验进行重构,而高等学历青年的国家自豪感则主要来自于对国家客观成就的理性判断。 展开更多

提升教育获得感是办好人民满意的教育的必要前提。教育数字化是开辟教育发展新赛道和塑造新优势的重要突破口,对提升学生教育获得存在赋能作用。为了进一步探究教育数字化对提升高中生教育获得的内在逻辑,构建“教育数字化—教师投入—... 提升教育获得感是办好人民满意的教育的必要前提。教育数字化是开辟教育发展新赛道和塑造新优势的重要突破口,对提升学生教育获得存在赋能作用。为了进一步探究教育数字化对提升高中生教育获得的内在逻辑,构建“教育数字化—教师投入—学习投入—教育获得”的链式中介模型并提出研究假设,本研究综合采用结构方程模型与Bootstrap方法,对模型与假设进行实证检验。研究结果显示,教育数字化可以直接对高中生教育获得产生正向影响,也可以通过影响教师投入而影响学习投入,最终提升高中生教育获得。在纵深推进教育数字化的未来实践中,还可以遵循以下策略:第一,深化教育系统变革,多角度谋划技术对教育的赋能路径;第二,加强价值主体协同,双线程共建师生数字化学习共同体;第三,优化教师专业发展,立体化构建教师数字素养提升体系。 展开更多
