Advancements in sensor technology have significantly enhanced atmospheric monitoring.Notably,metal oxide and carbon(MO_(x)/C)hybrids have gained attention for their exceptional sensitivity and room-temperature sensing performance.However,previous methods of synthesizing MO_(x)/C composites suffer from problems,including inhomogeneity,aggregation,and challenges in micropatterning.Herein,we introduce a refined method that employs a metal–organic framework(MOF)as a precursor combined with direct laser writing.The inherent structure of MOFs ensures a uniform distribution of metal ions and organic linkers,yielding homogeneous MO_(x)/C structures.The laser processing facilitates precise micropatterning(<2μm,comparable to typical photolithography)of the MO_(x)/C crystals.The optimized MOF-derived MO_(x)/C sensor rapidly detected ethanol gas even at room temperature(105 and 18 s for response and recovery,respectively),with a broad range of sensing performance from 170 to 3,400 ppm and a high response value of up to 3,500%.Additionally,this sensor exhibited enhanced stability and thermal resilience compared to previous MOF-based counterparts.This research opens up promising avenues for practical applications in MOF-derived sensing devices. 展开更多

Coagulation efficienc... Iron-manganese composited oxide(FeMnO) was prepared with potassium permanganate and ferrous salt. Interface performance, charge property and structure topography of the FeMnO were investigated. Coagulation efficiency and pollution removal mechanism of the FeMnO were approached. Results show that the main compositions of the FeMnO are δ-manganese dioxide and ferric hydroxide. The specific surface area is about 146.22 m^2/g. The FeMnO contains rich hydroxyl with extremely strong adsorption action and chemical adsorption activity. The zero charge point of the oxide in pure water is about 8.0 of pH value. Under neutral pH value conditions, the FeMnO particle surface carried positive charges. The FeMnO particles are quasi-spherical micro-particles with irregular sizes adjoined each other to form net construction. Phosphorus removal efficiency of the FeMnO is remarkable, the total dissoluble phosphorus of settled water can be reduced below detecting level(0.3 μtg/L) at a FeMnO dosage of 6 mg/L, and total phosphorus below detecting level at a FeMnO dosage of 10 mg/L, for water samples containing total phos- phorus of 1281.70 μg/L and total dissoluble phosphorus of 1187.91 μtg/L. The mechanism of effective coagulation for phosphorus removal is combined results of multiple actions of adsorption, charge neutralization, adsorption/bridging and so on. 展开更多

In this study, coral?like yolk–shell?structured NiO/C composite microspheres(denoted as CYS?NiO/C) were prepared using spray pyrolysis. The unique yolk–shell structure was characterized, and the formation mechanism of the structure was proposed. Both the phase separation of the polyvinylpyrrolidone and polystyrene(PS) colloidal solution and the decompo?sition of the size?controlled PS nanobeads in the droplet played crucial roles in the formation of the unique coral?like yolk–shell structure. The CYS?NiO/C microspheres delivered a reversible discharge capacity of 991 mAh g^(-1) after 500 cycles at the current density of 1.0 A g^(-1). The dis?charge capacity of the CYS?NiO/C microspheres after the 1000 th cycle at the current density of 2.0 A g^(-1) was 635 mAh g^(-1), and the capacity retention measured from the second cycle was 91%. The final discharge capacities of the CYS?NiO/C microspheres at the current densities of 0.5, 1.5, 3.0, 5.0, 7.0, and 10.0 A g^(-1) were 753, 648, 560, 490, 440, and 389 mAh g^(-1), respectively. The synergetic e ect of the coral?like yolk–shell structure with well?defined interconnected mesopores and highly conductive carbon resulted in the excellent Li+?ion storage properties of the CYS?NiO/C microspheres. 展开更多

Direct carbon solid oxide fuel cells(DC-SOFCs)are promising,green,and efficient power-generating devices that are fueled by solid carbons and comprise all-solid-state structures.Developing suitable anode materials for DC-SOFCs is a substantial scientific challenge.Herein we investigated the use of La_(0.75)Sr_(0.25)Cr_(0.5)Mn_(0.5)O_(3)-δ−Ce_(0.8)Gd_(0.2)O_(1.9)(LSCM−GDC)composite electrodes as anodes for La_(0.9)Sr_(0.1)Ga_(0.8)Mg_(0.2)O_(3)-δelectrolyte-based DC-SOFCs,with Camellia oleifera shell char as the carbon fuel.The LSCM−GDC-anode DC-SOFC delivered a maximum power density of 221 mW/cm^(2) at 800℃ and it significantly improved to 425 mW/cm^(2) after Ni nanoparticles were introduced into the LSCM−GDC anode through wet impregnation.The microstructures of the prepared anodes were characterized,and the stability of the anode in a DC-SOFC and the influence of catalytic activity on open circuit voltage were studied.The above results indicate that LSCM–GDC anode is promising to be applied in DC-SOFCs. 展开更多

To improve the oxidation resistance of carbon/carbon composites,ZrB2-MoSi2/SiC coating on the carbon/carbon substrate was prepared.The inner coating of SiC was prepared by pack cementation and the outer coating of ZrB2-MoSi2 was prepared by slurry painting.The phase compositions and microstructures of the coating were characterized by XRD and SEM,respectively.The preparation and the high temperature oxidation property of the coated composites were investigated.The results show that the outer coating of carbon/carbon composites is composed of ZrB2,MoSi2 and SiC phases.The mass losses of the ZrB2-MoSi2/SiC coated samples with SiC nano-whiskers after 30 h and 10 h of oxidation at 1 273 K and 1 773 K were,respectively,5.3% and 3.0%.The ZrB2-MoSi2/SiC coated samples exhibit self-sealing performance and good oxidation resistance at high temperature. 展开更多

To improve the oxidation resistance of C/C composites, a double SiC protective coating was prepared by a two-step technique. Firstly, the inner SiC layer was prepared by a pack cementation technique, and then an outer uniform and compact SiC coating was obtained by low pressure chemical vapor deposition. The microstructures and phase compositions of the coatings were characterized by SEM, EDS and XRD analyses. Oxidation behaviour of the SiC coated C/C composites was also investigated. It was found that the double SiC coating could protect C/C composites against oxidation at 1773 K in air for 178 h with a mass loss of 1.25%. The coated samples also underwent thermal shocks between 1773 K and room temperature 16 times. The mass loss of the coated C/C composites was only 2.74%. Double SiC layer structures were uniform and dense, and can suppress the generation of thermal stresses, facilitating an excellent anti-oxidation coating. 展开更多

Manganese compound with evident toxicity is widely employed as the contrast medium for clinicalexaminations such as magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).In the present work,a feasible way with the applica-tion of vacuum impregnation and rotary evaporation was proposed to introduce manganese chloride hydrate intothe inner cavities of template - synthesized carbon nanotubes(CNTs),and then a process of alkali treatmentwas used to liberate the loaded CNTs from the template.It is notable that the alkali attack in the presence ofresidual oxygen also resulted in a series of changes in chemical compositions of guest substances,and the ulti-mate compound of manganese was found to be manganese oxide(Mn3O4) by X-ray diffraction and transmissionelectron microscopy.Determinations of energy dispersive spectrum under scanning electron microscopy showeda high-content filling(more than 50 wt%) of Mn3O4 in the loaded CNTs.This work developed a feasible andconvenient way for the encapsulation of guest substances to reduce bio-toxic effects. 展开更多

Technetium-99 is a radioactive isotope with a half-life of 2.13 × 105 year. 99Tc is a significant contaminant of concern to the world. For this reason, a detailed understanding of technetium chemistry is essential for the protecting the public and the environment especially after increasing the various applications and uses of isotopes in the medical practices. Therefore, treatment of waste increases prior to the safe discharge to the environment or the storage. The sorption of technetium in the form of pertechnetate on a nano manganese oxide loaded into activated carbon has been investigated. Nano manganese oxide (NMO) was synthesized from manganese chloride and potassium permanganate by co-precipitation and forming a new composite by loading a nanoparticle into a modified activated carbon by different ratios. Modifications of activated carbons using different concentrations of HNO3 (4 M, 6 M and 8 M) are used in prepared composites. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were used to characterize the prepared composites. The adsorption of anions from low level radioactive aqueous waste was examined using batch technique. Different parameters affecting on the adsorption process were studied for the removal of . The results revealed that NMO/AC (4 M, 6 M and 8 M) has a high adsorption efficiency (93.57%, 90.3% and 90.3%) respectively compared to NMO and AC which have a lower adsorption efficiency (41% and 38.9%) respectively. Moreover, the adsorption isotherm belonged to Freundlich model, the adsorption data followed pseudo-second order model and the thermodynamic study indicated that the adsorption of on Nano-composites was an exothermic and spontaneous process. 展开更多

The effect of SiC whiskers on the oxidation resistance properties of the single-layer coating and double-layer coating was investigated. SiC whiskers in the single-layer SiC coating have little effect on the anti-oxidation property but obviously improve the thermal shock property. In order to improve the anti-oxidation property of carbon/carbon (C/C) composites, a novel SiC-Si-ZrSiO4 multiphase oxidation protective coating was produced on the surface of C/SiC coated carbon/carbon compo ites by a pack cementation technique. The phase composition and microstructure of the as-prepared coatings were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and EDS (energy dispersive spectroscopy). Oxidation behavior of the multiphase coated C/C composites was also investigated. It showed that the as-prepared coating characterized by excellent oxidation resistance and thermal shock re- sistance could effectively protect C/C composites from oxidation at 1773 K for 57 h in air and endure the thermal cycle between 1773 K and room temperature for 12 times, whereas the corresponding weight loss is only 1.47%. The excellent oxidation protective ability of the SiC-Si-ZrSiO4 coating could be attributed to the C/SiC gradient inner layer and the multiphase microstructure of the coating. 展开更多

To protect carbon/carbon (C/C) composites from oxidation, a SiC coating modified with SiO2 was prepared by a complex technology. The inner SiC coating with thickness varying from 150 to 300 μm was initially coated by chemical vapor reaction (CVR): a simple and cheap technique to prepare the SiC coating via siliconizing the substrate that was exposed to the mixed vapor (Si and SiO2) at high temperatures (1 923?2 273 K). Then the as-prepared coating was processed by a dipping and drying procedure with tetraethoxysilane as source materials to form SiO2 to fill the cracks and holes. Oxidation tests show that, after oxidation in air at 1 623 K for 10 h and thermal cycling between 1 623 K and room temperature 5 times, the mass loss of the CVR coated sample is up to 18.21%, while the sample coated with modified coating is only 5.96%, exhibiting an obvious improvement of oxidation and thermal shock resistance of the coating. The mass loss of the modified sample is mainly contributed to the reaction of C/C substrate with oxygen diffusing through the penetrating cracks formed in thermal shock tests. 展开更多

The phase composition, microstructure and oxidation resistance of the as-prepared Si-Al-lr coating were studied by XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy), and isothermal oxidation test at 1773 K in air, respectively. The surface of the as-prepared Si-Al-lr coating was dense and the thickness was approximately 100 um. Its anti-oxidation property was superior to that of the inner SiC coating. The weight loss of SiC/Si- Al-lr coated carbon/carbon composites was less than 5 wt. pct after oxidation at 1773 K in air for 79 h. The local oxidation defects in the coating may result in the failure of the SiC/Si-Al-Ir coating. 展开更多

The oxidation properties of felt base carbon/carbon composites were investigated at different temperatures (773-1173K), and the microstructures of carbon/carbon composites were studied by SEM and X-ray diffraction. The experimental results showed that the inter-laminar distance of (002) plane (d002) deceased while the microcrystalline stack height (Lc) increased. The oxidation rate of felt base carbon/carbon composites was invari-able at certain temperatures. The oxidation mechanism of carbon/carbon composites changed remarkably at the oxidation temperature 973K. At the initial oxidation stage of carbon/carbon composites, carbon matrix was oxidized much more rapidly than carbon felt. 展开更多

A microreactor system and TPD techniques were used to study the reaction kinetics of the CO+ NO reaction and the adsorption of CO,NO,CO_2 and N_2O over Cu-Mn-O(Ⅰ)and Cu-Mn-Ce-O(Ⅱ) catalysts.The results show that the catalytic activity of(Ⅱ)is higher than that of(Ⅰ)for the CO+NO reac- tion,and the higher the conversion of NO,the larger was the activity difference between(Ⅰ)and(Ⅱ).For (Ⅰ)the rate of NO elimination is dependent on the partial pressures of NO,CO,CO_2 with the kinetics or- ders of 0.48,0.56,0.08,respectively.The TPD study shows that the presence of Ce in(Ⅱ)may promote the adsorption of NO,CO on the surface,i.e.an increase of the coverage θ_(NO),θ_(CO),which result in a decrease of the hindrance of the reaction products.For CO_2 and N_2O the situation is in the opposite,the presence of Ce makes the θ_(CO)_2)and θ_(NO)on(Ⅱ)decrease,which weakens the inhibition of CO_2 for the reaction. 展开更多

A catalytic approach using a synthesized iron and manganese oxide-supported granular activated carbon(Fe-Mn GAC) under a dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) plasma was investigated to enhance the degradation of oxytetracycline(OTC) in water. The prepared Fe-Mn GAC was characterized by x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, and the results showed that the bimetallic oxides had been successfully spread on the GAC surface. The experimental results showed that the DBD?+?Fe-Mn GAC exhibited better OTC removal efficiency than the sole DBD and DBD?+?virgin GAC systems. Increasing the fabricated catalyst and discharge voltage was favorable to the antibiotic elimination and energy yield in the hybrid process. The coupling process could be elucidated by the ozone decomposition after Fe-Mn GAC addition, and highly hydroxyl and superoxide radicals both play significant roles in the decontamination. The main intermediate products were identified by HPLC-MS to study the mechanism in the collaborative system. 展开更多

In the procedure of the fabrication, pure St slurry inner layer in the pre-coating was necessary to apply because of infiltration of liquid Si into the substrate during the sintering. The coating consists of Si continuous phase and MoSi2 particles. In addition, the infiltration of Si into the substrate and the SiC reaction layer between the coating and the C/C composite were observed. Oxidation behavior of coated and uncoated C/C composites was studied in cyclic mode. Pt-Ru catalysts supported on CNTs-Nafion composites were synthesized by microwave-assisted polyol process. The physical and electrochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), CO stripping voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA). The results showed that the Nation incorporation in CNTs-Nation composites did not significantly alter the oxygen-containing groups on the CNTs surface. The Pt-Ru catalyst supported on CNTs-Nafion composites with 2 wt% Naton showed good dispersion and the best CO oxidation and methanol electro-oxidation activities. 展开更多

A simple and low cost method was used to fabricate a MoSi2-SiC-Si-B anti-oxidation coating on Carbon/Carbon composites.The microstructures and crystalline structures of the as-obtained coating were characterized by optical microscopy,X-ray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy.The results indicate that the coating with 200-250 μm in thickness has two-layer structures,which composed of SiC bonding-layer and MoSi2-Si main-layer containing boron and SiC particles.The MoSi2-SiC-Si-B coating has excellent oxidation resistance at temperature range of 1200-1400 ℃ and the maximum cumulative weight loss per unit area is only 0.01 g/cm2 for 20-hours of isothermal cyclic oxidation. 展开更多

Pure manganese carbonate can be changed into Mn 3O 4 and γ MnOOH, and manganese carbonate ore can be converted to MnO 2 under the air aerating and oxygen aerating circumstances. The oxidation process of manganese carbonate is a changing process of mineral association, and is also a converting process of valence of manganese itself. Not only equilibrium state, but also nonequilibrium state are involved in this whole process. This process is an irreversible heterogeneous complex reaction, and obeys the nonequilibrium thermodynamic model. The oxidation rate of manganese carbonate is controlled by many factors, especially nonmanganese metallic ions which play an important role in the oxidation process of manganese carbonate. 展开更多
