Spectra of diagnostic gases are collected by 3 different laboratorial FTIR spectrometers using 3 different gas cells with various sets of equipment parameters. A formula is deduced to calculate the shortest optical length to detect a specific concentration according to measurements on gases with known concentrations near to the minimum detection limit. Collected spectra and calculated results suggested that the optimum optical length of the gas cell should be 150 mm to realize on-line monitoring of diagnostic gases within the required concentration range. At the end, an economic novel design of the gas cell is proposed based on the optimum length.展开更多

The degradation rates of PL intensity increase with the electron fluence and energy. Furthermore, the damage coefficient of minority carrier diffusion length is estimated by the PL radiative efficiency. The damage coefficient increases with the electron energy. The relation of damage coefficient to electron energy is discussed with the non-ionizing energy loss(NIEL), which shows a quadratic dependence between damage coefficient and NIEL.展开更多

Seedlings of maize (Zea mays L., cv. Zhengdan 958) were grown in hydroponics with the control (4 mmol L-1) or low-nitrogen (40 μmol L-1) for 12 d, supplied as nitrate. Low nitrogen enhanced root elongation rate by 4.1-fold, accompanied by increases in cell production rate by 2.2-fold, maximal elemental elongation rate (by 2.5-fold), the length of elongation zone (by 1.5-fold), and ifnal cell length by 1.8-fold. On low nitrogen, the higher cell production rate resulted from a higher cell division rate and in fact the number of dividing cells was reduced. Consequently, the residence time of a cell in the division zone tended to be shorter under low nitrogen. In addition, low nitrogen increased root diameter, an increase that occurred speciifcally in the cortex and was accompanied by an increase in cell number. It is concluded that roots elongates in response to low-nitrogen stress by accelerating cell production and expansion.展开更多

It is found that the HP glass substrate has good antireflection properties. Its surface reflectance can be reduced by - 50% compared with planar glass. The HP arrays can make the unabsorbed light return to the absorbing layer of solar cells, and the ratio of second absorption approximately equals 30%. Thus, the glass substrate with the hemisphere pit arrays (HP glass) can effectively reduce the total reflectivity of a solar celt from 20% to 13%. The lip glass can also prolong the optical path length. The numerical results show that the total optical path length of the thin film Si solar cell covered with the HP glass increases from 2ω to 409. These results are basically consistent with the experimental results.展开更多

It permits the determination of recombination parameters such as: diffusion length (L), back surface recombination velocity (Sb), intrinsic junction recombination velocity (Sjo), and macroscopic parameters in particular, the shunt and series resistances of a bifacial solar cell for various illumination levels (n). Illumination level effects on macroscopic parameters are highlighted.展开更多
