In this paper,we take two geographically adjacent cities with great differences in the economic development model,Xinghua City and Jingjiang City,as the research object. Using logarithmic model( M1),Kuznets model( M2),logistic model( M3) and multivariate linear model( M4),we fit the process of changes in cultivated land resources during the period 1980- 2009,and compare the differences in the fitting effect between different models. In terms of the model fitting effect in Xinghua City,it is in the order of M3 > M4 > M1 > M2,which is related to the fact that the local areas lay great emphasis on agricultural development, and pay close attention to ensuring the cultivated land area; in terms of the model fitting effect in Jingjiang City,it is in the order of M1 > M3 > M4 > M2,and the deep-seated cause is that its development model is dominated by extended trade expansion, and the level of intensive land use is constantly improved. In addition,we discuss the multi-stage characteristics of changes in cultivated land resources, and propose a solution of using the same model to simulate in various phases. The research results in Jingjiang City show that the coefficient of determination in the first phase( R2=0. 958) and the standard error( SE = 0. 261) are both better than those of the original model( R2= 0. 945,SE = 0. 312); the coefficient of determination in the second phase is slightly low( R2= 0. 851),but the standard error is greatly improved( SE = 0. 137). Compared with the research conclusions of other scholars,it can be believed that this method can better solve the problems that the scatter plot of logistic model presents wave-shape and the scatter plot of Kuznets model presents " M"-shape,in order to improve the applicability of mathematical models.展开更多

These countries, located in regions prone to unpredictable temperature and precipitation changes, are facing significant challenges, particularly in climate-sensitive sectors such as mining and agriculture. LDCs need more resilience to adverse climate shocks but have limited capacity for adaptation compared to other developed and developing nations. This paper examines Liberia’s susceptibility to climate change as a least developed country, focusing on its exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. It provides an overview of LDCs and outlines the global distribution of carbon dioxide emissions. The paper also evaluates specific challenges that amplify Liberia’s vulnerability and constrain sustainable adaptation, providing insight into climate change’s existing and potential effects. The paper emphasizes the urgency of addressing climate impacts on Liberia and calls for concerted local and international efforts for effective and sustainable mitigation efforts. It provides recommendations for policy decisions and calls for further research on climate change mitigation and adaptation.展开更多

In recent times, the Central Asian region has been affected by the shrinkage of the Aral Sea, widespread desertification, soil salinization, biodiversity loss, frequent sand storms, and many other ecological disasters. This paper is a review article based upon the collection, identification and collation of previous studies of environmental changes and regional developments in Central Asia in the past 30 years. Most recent studies have reached a consensus that the temperature rise in Central Asia is occurring faster than the global average. This warming trend will not only result in a higher evaporation in the basin oases, but also to a significant retreat of glaciers in the mountainous areas. Water is the key to sustainable development in the arid and semi-arid regions in Central Asia. The uneven distribution, over consumption, and pollution of water resources in Central Asia have caused severe water supply problems, which have been affecting regional harmony and development for the past 30 years. The widespread and significant land use changes in the 1990 s could be used to improve our understanding of natural variability and human interaction in the region. There has been a positive trend of trans-border cooperation among the Central Asian countries in recent years. International attention has grown and research projects have been initiated to provide water and ecosystem protection in Central Asia. However, the agreements that have been reached might not be able to deliver practical action in time to prevent severe ecological disasters. Water management should be based on hydrographic borders and ministries should be able to make timely decisions without political intervention. Fully integrated management of water resources, land use and industrial development is essential in Central Asia. The ecological crisis should provide sufficient motivation to reach a consensus on unified water management throughout the region.展开更多

Compared to 1980-1999, after 2000, the ENSO amplitude weakened, the occurrence of the central Pacific (CP) Et Nino increased, and the eastern Pacific (EP) El Nino became suppressed. Meanwhile, the dominant period of ENSO shortened from quasi-quadrennial (QQ) to quasi-biennial (QB). The authors show that these changes in ENSO properties are evidently consistent with the change in the stability of the ENSO mode through connecting the two ENSO types with the two coupled ENSO modes, i.e. the QQ and QB modes. It is suggested that the relative activity or stability of the two ENSO modes changed after the year 2000. The intensity of both the QQ and QB mode weakened. The QQ mode, which is linked to EP ENSO and was significantly strong during 1980-1999, became much weaker after 2000 in terms of the EP type almost disappearing. Compared with the weakness of the QQ mode, the QB mode, as manifested by the CP type, remained active and became dominant in the tropical Pacific after 2000. Analysis shows that the changes in mean states in the tropical Pacific were likely responsible for the interdecadal ENSO changes around the year 2000.展开更多

While this is largely true, newly emerging clinical and laboratory studies have sug- gested that exposure to anesthetic agents during early childhood may have long-lasting adverse effects on cognitive function. This concern has been the focus of intense study in the field of anesthesia research. A recent high-profile review by Rappaport et al. (2015) concluded that while many questions remain un- answered, there is strong evidence from laboratory studies that commonly used anesthetics interfere with brain development and that clinical studies suggest a correlation between early childhood exposure to these agents and subsequent effects on learning and cognition. The issue is of sufficient public health importance that a public-private partnership known as Smar- Tots (Strategies for Mitigating Anesthesia-Related Neurotoxicity in Tots) was developed by the FDA to study pediatric anesthetic neurotoxicity. The mechanism of injury underlying this phe- nomenon has yet to be fully elucidated, and there is evidence to suggest that anesthetics may have direct cytotoxic effects on neurons leading to cell death or suppressed neurogenesis (Strat- mann et al., 2010) and that they may interfere with key pro- cesses in neuronal growth and development that underlie brain circuit development (Wagner et al., 2014).展开更多

The results show that the temperature is a controlling factor of development rate but the precipitation is not. The higher the temperature is. the faster the development and the shorter development period will be. Without consideration to varieties and cropping system, meteorological yield of winter wheat would decrease 170.40, 134.25, 98.70 and 97.20 kg/hm2 in the north China and 13.97, 7.95, 39.60 and 19.80 kg/hm2 in the northwest China compared with that in 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, respectively, when the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is doubled. In drought and semi-drought regions, the spring wheat yield would drop with the temperature rise in and raise with the precipitation increase. The influence of temperature on weight of leaf and stalk is also remarkable.展开更多

文摘Climate change is an alarming global challenge, particularly affecting the least developed countries (LDCs) including Liberia. It provides recommendations for policy decisions and calls for further research on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

文摘Promoting agricultural modernisation through technological change is an important strategy for China.China's carbon neutrality strategy is leading to systemic socio-economic changes that could exacerbate the uncertainty of agricultural development. Therefore, applying a computable general equilibrium(CGE)model, this study characterises the agricultural sector in detail, introducing endogenous technological change proxied by research and development(R&D)to assess the impact of different technological change scenarios on agricultural development under the carbon neutrality target. The results show that allocating carbon revenue for R&D inputs can mitigate the significant negative impact of achieving carbon neutrality on knowledge capital and production in agricultural sectors.Overall, using carbon revenue only for R&D input in crop sectors has the optimal effect on increasing the agricultural sectors'knowledge capital, improving crop production and profit, reducing crop external dependence and promoting the synergistic reduction of carbon and pollutant emissions. However, this scenario has the largest negative impact on macro-economics and household welfare. In contrast, allocating carbon revenue to promote technological change in broader non-energy sectors or both crops and non-energy sectors can effectively mitigate negative socio-economic impacts, but the positive impact on agricultural development is minimal. These findings provide practical insights for the rational use of carbon revenue to expand agricultural R&D investment and ensure balanced agricultural and economic development under the carbon neutrality target.

文摘Based on the oil,gas and water distribution characteristics of Khasib reservoir in Halfaya oilfield,Iraq,a core displacement experiment is designed to evaluate the influence of different displacement methods and displacement parameters on oil displacement efficiency. The research shows that,in the displacement method with water injected from the edge of the reservoir, early depletion production is conducive to the elastic expansion of the gas cap, forming the three-dimensional displacement of"upper pressure and lower pushing",and the oil displacement effect is good. When gas injection at the top and water injection at the edge are used for synergistic displacement, the injection timing has different influences on the oil displacement effects of high and low parts.Considering the overall oil displacement efficiency, the injection pressure should be greater than the bubble point pressure of crude oil.Two displacement methods are recommended with the reasonable injection time at 20–25 MPa.The injection speed has the same influence on different injection media.Appropriately reducing the injection speed is conducive to the stability of the displacement front, delaying the breakthrough of injection media and improving the oil displacement effect. The reasonable injection rate of water flooding is 0.075 mL/min,the reasonable injection rates of water and gas are 0.15 mL/min and 0.10 mL/min,respectively in gas-water synergistic displacement.Gas-water synergistic displacement is conducive to the production of crude oil at high position, and has crude oil recovery 5.0%–14.8%higher than water flooding from the edge,so it is recommended as the development mode of Khasib reservoir at the middle and late stages.
文摘The study was made by observing the annual change of the gonadal development of amphioxus in Xiamen cohtinuously for two years from November, 1986 to November, 1988. We determined the gonadal diameter, gonadosomatic index of each amphioxus, and observed the histological characteristic of the gonadal development of the female and male by cut section, which provided the basis for dividing the stages gonads and the determining level of the gonadal development of amphioxus in each month.
文摘The paper provides requested management-changing decisions through implementation of conclusions of Global Sustainable Development theory based on including of microalgae in Bio and Industrial Cycles in the area of waste-related management challenges within creating market opportunities for industry through expansion of resource efficiency use across global supply chains and new design and building sustainable development with contemporary manufacturing of value added products. A truly coherent waste management and other production policy (biofuel, biopharmaceuticals, food, feed and perfumery additives) and mitigation of Climate Change are ways to bring these traces closer to cost effective manufacturing, improving of resource efficiency use, well being economy and human health. Offered technological change dramatically increase biomass feedstock resources, reduce waste origin of greenhouse emission (since 13%-17%), organics sent to landfill, pyrolyses, etc. and create a model that all elements along the waste value chain create economic, societal and/or environmental value.

文摘The development mode of industrial civilization has created huge material wealth for human society, but at the same time the severe ecological problems that have arisen from it have made human civilization fall into the dispersion of unsustainable development. The industrialized development mode has obvious non-ecological economic qualities, which are specifically manifested in the destruction of the ecological economy relationship between nature and mankind, the emergence of cracks of metabolism between nature and mankind, the unbalanced development of the social productive forces and the natural productive forces, and the functioning of one-way linear non-circular economy.Under the trend of ecological evolution of human civilization, the industrial civilization will be replaced by the ecological civilization, and then the industrial economic development mode will be transformed into the ecological economic development mode.As a result, the predicament of once unsustainable development has been gradually dispersed and human civilization enters a beautiful new era of coordinated development of economic society and natural ecology.
文摘With the advent of modern techniques, drugs, and monitoring, general anesthesia has come to be considered an unlikely cause of harm, particularly for healthy patients. The mechanism of injury underlying this phe- nomenon has yet to be fully elucidated, and there is evidence to suggest that anesthetics may have direct cytotoxic effects on neurons leading to cell death or suppressed neurogenesis (Strat- mann et al., 2010) and that they may interfere with key pro- cesses in neuronal growth and development that underlie brain circuit development (Wagner et al., 2014).
文摘In this paper, the relationship between sustainable development and the adaptation to the impacts of global change is discussed. With relevant issues in northwestern and coastal areas of China as examples, it is shown that both the problems of adaptation and sustainable development are of a systematic nature.
文摘In this paper, impacts of climate change on wheat development rate and production in the northern China are discussed. The influence of temperature on weight of leaf and stalk is also remarkable.

文摘Global climate change has swept across every nation, community, business, and individual on the planet. It is essential to find a fundamental solution to address climate change from a broader perspective. Climate change legislation should followthe principle of the sustainable development, polluter pays principle, the principle of the common but differentiated responsibilities as well as the principle of subsidiarity. Under the guidance of the four basic principles of legislation, the international field should build the legal system of the global climate governance,China should formulate special"the act of addressing climate change".
