Based on the latest displacement of Huoshan piedmont fault, Mianshan west-side fault and Taigu fault obtained from the beginning of 1990s up to the present, the characteristics of distribution and displacement of surf...Based on the latest displacement of Huoshan piedmont fault, Mianshan west-side fault and Taigu fault obtained from the beginning of 1990s up to the present, the characteristics of distribution and displacement of surface rup-ture zone of the 1303 Hongtong M = 8 earthquake, Shanxi Province are synthesized and discussed in the paper. If Taigu fault, Mianshan west-side fault and Huoshan piedmont fault were contemporarily active during the 1303 Hongtong M = 8 earthquake, the surface rupture zone would be 160 km long and could be divided into 3 segments, that is, the 50-km-long Huoshan piedmont fault segment, 35-km-long Mianshan west-side fault segment and 70-km-long Taigu fault segment, respectively. Among them, there exist 4 km and 8 km step regions. The surface rupture zone exhibits right-lateral features. The displacements of northern and central segments are respectively 6~7 m and the southern segment has the maximum displacement of 10 m. The single basin-boundary fault of Shanxi fault-depression system usually corresponds to M 7 earthquake, while this great earthquake (M = 8) broke through the obstacle between two basins. Near infrared spectroscopy(NIRS),coupled with principal component analysis and wavelength selection techniques,has been sed to develop a robust and reliable reduced-spectrum classifi-cation model for determining the g...Near infrared spectroscopy(NIRS),coupled with principal component analysis and wavelength selection techniques,has been sed to develop a robust and reliable reduced-spectrum classifi-cation model for determining the geographical origins of Nanfeng mandarins.The application of the changeable size moving window principal component analysis(CSMWPCA)provided a notably improved lassification model,with correct classification rates of 92.00%,100.00%,90.00%,100.00%,100.00%,100.00%and 100.00%for Fujian,Guangxi,Hunan,Baishe,Baofeng,Qiawan,Sanxi samples,respectively,as well as,a total dassification rate of 97.52%in the wavelength range from 1007 to 1296 nm.To test and apply the proposed method,the procedure was applied to the analysis of 59 samples in an independent test set.Good identification results(correct rate of 96.61%)were also received.The improvement achieved by the application of CSMWPCA method was particularly remarkable when taking the low complexities of the final model(290 variables)into account.The results of the study showed the great potential of NIRS as a fast,nondestructive and environmentally acceptable method for the rapid and reliable determination for geographical classifcation of Nanfeng mandarins.展开更多

Here, we realize multiple imaging by detecting photons with changeable wavelengths based on time-resolved correlation measurements. In our system, information from multiple objects can be transported. During this process, the wavelength of the photons illuminating the objects is different from the wavelength of the photons detected by the detectors. More importantly, the wavelength of the photons that are utilized to record images can also be changed to match the sensitive range of the used detectors. In our experiment, images of the objects are reconstructed clearly by detecting the photons at wavelengths of 650, 810, and 1064 nm, respectively. Sea ice edge is often prev...Sea ice edge is an important index for illustrating changes in the Arctic sea ice. This parameter is important for naviga- tion safety and sea ice disaster warning in Chinese northern coast. Sea ice edge is often previously obtained through long-term artifi- cial judgment or in default equivalent to a certain isoline of sea ice concentration, which neglects the influence of large floes on sea ice edge. This study aims to develop a more accurate and faster automatic method for monitoring sea ice edge compared with conventional monitoring techniques. A novel method based on morphology is proposed. Connected Component Analysis (CCA) and image closing operation are performed. The main ice region, main water region, and floes are distinguished using CCA twice. Then, some large floes are reserved and merged into the principal ice region. Finally, sea ice edge is retrieved by a changeable image closing operation with self-adaptive structural element. This method can be extensively applied to ice-water binary data, such as sea ice concentration, satellite image, and aerial image. The proposed technique is applied on the reflectance data produced from band 1 and band 2 of MODIS (Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer). The new method is used to retrieve sea ice edge from sea ice concentration data from advanced microwave scanning radiometer for EOS data covering ten regions in the Arctic ocean. Compared with the 15% isoline of sea ice concentration in the regions covered by many large ice floes, the sea ice edge obtained by the new method is more reasonable for monitoring large-scale sea ice. This advantage is caused by the reservation and merging of slightly large floes into the principal ice region. Rapid monitoring of sea ice in the Chinese northern coast without the restriction of chosen data formatis feasible because the method is automatic and can be widely applied. Meanwhile, the dramatic change in the Arctic sea ice can be quantified using the sea ice edge obtained by the proposed method. A regional and integral Arctic sea ice edge dataset can be built for further Arctic studies.展开更多
