Experimental and Simulation Analysis of Two-Tone and Three-Tone Photodetector Linearity Characterizing Systems

Two measurement techniques are investigated to characterize photodetector linearity. A model for the two-tone and three-tone photodetector systems is developed to thoroughly investigate the influences of setup components on the measurement results. We demonstrate that small bias shifts from the quadrature point of the modulator will induce deviation into measurement results of the two-tone system, and the simulation results correspond well to experimental and calculation results.

Characterization and analysis of coded excitation ultrasound parameters for rock properties

Coded excitation technology （CET） can effectively enhance the penetration and resolution of ultrasonic testing. To analyze the influence of rock properties on pulse compression performance （PCP） of coded excitation signals （CES）, a numerical simulation, and an ultrasonic experiment on different rock samples are performed; and the detection ability of several CESs are also investigated and compared. The results of experiments showed that the loss of the signal-to-noise ratio （SNR） of Barker coded signal with tapered linear frequency modulated carrier （BTLFM） is always less than Barker coded signal with sine carrier （BS）, while the resolution loss of BTLFM is lower than tapered linear frequency modulated signal （TLFM）. In sum, the results not only verifiy the effectiveness of CET, but also provide a basis for the parameter settings of coded signals used in rock ultrasonic testing.

Syntheses and Crystal Structures of the First Row Transition Metals with 1,6-Bis(2＇-pyridyl)-2,5-dithiahexane

Six first row transition metal complexes with 1,6-bis（2′-pyridyl）-2,5-dithiahexane（Py;S;）, namely, MnPy;S;Cl;（1）, FePy;S;Cl;（2）, Co Py;S;Cl（3）, CoPy;S;（SCN）;（4）, NiPy;S;（SCN）;（5） and NiPy;S;（N;）;（6）, have been synthesized. A mixture of MCl;·x H;O（M = Mn, Co） in MeOH（FeCl;·4H;O in MeCN） and the stoichiometric amount of Py;S;was stirred for 4 h at room temperature, then these aiming products 1, 2 and 3 could be obtained by purification. A mixture of MPy;S;Cl;（M = Co, Ni） in MeOH and two equivalents of KSCN or NaN;was stirred for 4 h at room temperature. After that, complexes 4, 5 and 6 could be got by purifying. For 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, the metal centers are hexa-coordinated in a similar distorted octahedral geometry and the crystal structures have the same space group Pbcn. The crystal structure of compound 6 belongs to monoclinic with space group P21/c. The coordinated atoms around M（Ⅱ） are two pyridyl N atoms(N（1） and N（2）), two thioether S atoms(S（1） and S（2）) and two chloride ions(Cl（1） and Cl（2）) in compounds 1, 2, and 3, but in 4, 5, and 6, two chloride ions(Cl（1） and Cl（2）) are replaced by another two N atoms from N;or NCS;.

A Characterization of Paratingent Cone and P-subderivative with Applications in Nonsmooth Analysis

We give a new characterization of the paratingent cone in terms of contingent cones,i. e., the paratingent cone to any open set at a boundary point is the upper limit of the contingentcones at the neighboring points. We use this result to characterize the strict differentiability in termsof the contingent directional derivatives. We also define a P-subderivative for continuous functionsand develop a subdifferential calculus with applications to optimality conditions in mathematicalprograming.

Design and Implementation of Prototype System for Online Handwritten Uyghur Character Recognition

Based on the analysis of the unique shapes and writing styles of Uyghur characters,we design a framework for prototype character recognition system and carry out a systematic theoretical and experimental research on its modules.In the preprocessing procedure,we use the linear and nonlinear normalization based on dot density method.Both structural and statistical features are extracted due to the fact that there are some very similar characters in Uyghur literature.In clustering analysis,we adopt the dynamic clustering algorithm based on the minimum spanning tree（MST）,and use the k-nearest neighbor matching classification as classifier.The testing results of prototype system show that the recognition rates for characters of the four different types（independent,suffix,intermediate,and initial type） are 74.67%,70.42%,63.33%,and 72.02%,respectively;the recognition rates for the case of five candidates for those characters are 94.34%,94.19%,93.15%,and 95.86%,respectively.The ideas and methods used in this paper have some commonality and usefulness for the recognition of other characters that belong to Altaic languages family.

Taxonomy,phylogeny and evolution of freshwater Hypocreomycetidae(Sordariomycetes)

Hypocreomycetidae is a highly diverse group with species from various habitats. This subclass has been reported as pathogenic,endophytic, parasitic, saprobic, fungicolous, lichenicolous, algicolous, coprophilous and insect fungi from aquatic andterrestrial habitats. In this study, we focused on freshwater fungi of Hypocreomycetidae which resulted 41 fresh collectionsfrom China and Thailand. Based on morphological and phylogenetic analyses, we identified 26 species that belong to twoorders (Hypocreales and Microascales) and six families (Bionectriaceae, Halosphaeriaceae, Microascaceae, Nectriaceae,Sarocladiaceae and Stachybotryaceae). Ten new species are introduced and 13 new habitats and geographic records arereported. Mariannaea superimposita, Stachybotrys chartarum and S. chlorohalonatus are recollected from freshwater habitatsin China. Based on phylogenetic analysis of combined LSU, ITS, SSU, rpb2 and tef1-α sequences data, Emericellopsisis transferred to Hypocreales genera incertae sedis;Pseudoacremonium is transferred to Bionectriaceae;Sedecimiella isplaced in Nectriaceae;Nautosphaeria and Tubakiella are excluded from Halosphaeriaceae and placed in Microascalesgenera incertae sedis;and Faurelina is excluded from Hypocreomycetidae. Varicosporella is placed under Atractium as asynonym of Atractium. In addition, phylogenetic analysis and divergence time estimates showed that Ascocodina, Campylospora,Cornuvesica and Xenodactylariaceae form distinct lineages in Hypocreomycetidae and they evolved in the family/order time frame. Hence, a new order (Xenodactylariales) and three new families (Ascocodinaceae, Campylosporaceae andCornuvesicaceae) are introduced based on phylogenetic analysis, divergence time estimations and morphological characters.Ancestral character state analysis is performed for different habitats of Hypocreomycetidae including freshwater, marineand terrestrial taxa. The result indicates that marine and freshwater fungi evolved independently from terrestrial ancestors.The results further support those early diverging clades of this subclass, mostly comprising terrestrial taxa and freshwaterand marine taxa have been secondarily derived, while the crown clade (Nectriaceae) is represented in all three habitats. Theevolution of various morphological adaptations towards their habitual changes are also discussed.

On-line full scan inspection of particle size and shape using digital image processing

An on-line full scan inspection system is developed for particle size analysis. A particle image is first obtained through optical line scan technology and is then analyzed using digital image processing. The system is composed of a particle separation module, an image acquisition module, an image processing module, and an electric control module. Experiments are carried out using non-uniform 0.1 mm particles. The main advantage of this system consists of a full analysis of particles without any overlap or miss, thus improving the Area Scan Charge Coupled Device （CCD） acquisition problems. Particle size distribution, roundness, and sphericity can be obtained using the system with a deviation of repeated precision of around ±1%. The developed system is shown to be also convenient and versatile for any particle size and shape for academic and industrial users.

Improving the Hydromechanical Deep-Drawing Process Using Aluminum Tailored Heat Treated Blanks

The present work demonstrates the effectiveness of combining the hydromechanical deep-drawing process with the Tailored Heat Treated Blank（THTB） technique. In the hydromechanical deep-drawing process, the fluid pressure is used for postponing the fracture occurrence in the blank, while the THTB technique allows to create a material property gradient through a suitable artificial aging treatment carried out prior to the forming process. Since the number of process variables is large, in the present work the authors propose an optimization loop for the determination of the parameters controlling the extension of the blank regions to be subjected to the aging treatment and the temperature levels to be set during the heat treatment. The proposed methodology couples a simple finite element model（Abaqus） with a multiobjective optimization platform（mode FRONTIER）. A preliminary experimental campaign was carried out for determining the effect of the aging treatment on the mechanical（through tensile tests） and deformative（through formability tests）behavior of the AC170 PX aluminum alloy. Optimization results prove the effectiveness of the adopted methodology and put in evidence that the adoption of properly aged blanks in the hydromechanical deep drawing allows to increase the limit drawing ratio and to simplify the process since it is conducted at room temperature.
