Appendicitis combined with Meckel’s diverticulum obstruction, perforation, and inflammation in children: Three case reports

BACKGROUND Meckel’s diverticulum is a common congenital malformation of the small intestine,with the three most common complications being obstruction,per-foration,and inflammation.To date,only a few cases have been reported world-wide.In children,the clinical symptoms are similar to appendicitis.As most of the imaging features are nonspecific,the preoperative diagnosis is not precise.In addition,the clinical characteristics are highly similar to pediatric acute appendicitis,thus special attention is necessary to distinguish Meckel’s diver-ticulum from pediatric appendicitis.Patients with poor disease control should undergo laparoscopic exploration to avoid serious complications,including intestinal necrosis,intestinal perforation and gastrointestinal bleeding.CASE SUMMARY This report presents three cases of appendicitis in children combined with intestinal obstruction,which was caused by fibrous bands(ligaments)arising from the top part of Meckel's diverticulum,diverticular perforation,and diver-ticular inflammation.All three patients,aged 11-12 years,had acute appendicitis as their initial clinical presentation.All were treated by laparoscopic surgery with a favorable outcome.A complete dataset including clinical presentation,dia-gnostic imaging,surgical information,and histopathologic findings was also provided.CONCLUSION Preoperative diagnosis of Meckel’s diverticulum and its complications is challenging because its clinical signs and complications are similar to those of appendicitis in children.Laparoscopy combined with laparotomy is useful for diagnosis and treatment.

Relationship between Authoritative Parenting Style and Preschool Children’s Emotion Regulation:A Moderated Mediation Model

An authoritative parenting style has been shown to promote children’s emotion regulation in European-American family studies.However,little is known about how sleep problems and the child’s sibling status in Chinese families affect this relationship.Based on family system theory,this study attempts to better understand the relationship between authoritative parenting style and emotion regulation.Mothers of preschool children in Chinese kindergartens completed questionnaires about their children’s sleep habits,their authoritative parenting styles,and children’s emotion regulation.A total of 531 children participated in this study.Results showed that authoritative parenting was positively associated with emotional regulation.Sleep problems mediated the effects of authoritative parenting style on emotion regulation.The child’s sibling status moderated the mediating effects of sleep problems in authoritative parenting and emotion regulation relationships.Specifically,the relationship between the authoritative parenting style and sleep problems was significant for only children,while birth order had no significant influence on the authoritative parenting style and sleep problems in two-child families.These findings suggest that a lowauthoritative parenting style predicts low emotion regulation through sleep problems,and this depends on the child’s sibling status,indicating that children without siblings may impair emotion regulation due to increased sleep problems.

Design of a Landscape Device for Children from the Perspective of Embodied Cognition in the New Era

In recent years,embodied cognition has ushered in a new research upsurge in the academic field,and has become a hot topic in the field of cognitive psychology.In this paper,from the perspective of embodied cognition,the interaction ways of a landscape device for children were discussed to achieve a more real and harmonious interaction between children and scenes.The research data of embodied cognition used by children was analyzed,and the drawbacks and breakthrough points of current landscape devices for children were discussed.The core characteristics of children’s growth period were extracted to establish children’s interaction model and summarize the interactive design methods of landscape devices for children.Embodied cognition has become the most intuitive way for children to know and understand the environment,and plays a pivotal role in children’s growth.Based on embodied cognition principle and interactive behavior mode,the interactive design of a landscape device for children was studied,and three interactive design modes,including simple and convenient interaction mode,multi-sensory interaction mode and game natural interaction mode were summarized.On the basis of this research,relevant design practice and research were carried out to bring a new vision to the design of children’s landscape.

Reflections on Conducting Kindergarten Language Education Activities Based on Children’s Literature

In early childhood education,language education is a crucial component,yet in kindergarten teaching,there often exists issues such as“emphasis on knowledge and neglect of practice.”To address this problem,teachers need to incorporate children’s literature in a reasonable manner to create a conducive environment for language education for young children.This article analyzes and discusses the significance of integrating children’s literature into kindergarten language education activities,and proposes strategies for addressing the current issues in kindergarten language education activities and conducting them based on children’s literature.

A Study of Health Prescribing for Children with Tourette’s Disorders in Children’s Health Education Specialty Care Clinics

Objective:This study designs and implements the health prescription of children’s health education specialized nursing clinic based on the physical and mental characteristics of children with Tourette’s syndrome.Methods:Applying the evidence-based nursing model and nursing intervention theory based on the survey research by searching China Knowledge Network,Wanfang Database and Wipro Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database,the study collected the literature on the health prescription intervention research in children’s Tourette’s disorders health education in children’s health education of specialized nursing outpatient clinic for review and combined with the specialty characteristics to formulate“Children’s Tourette’s Disorder Health Education Prescription.”Results:Tourette’s syndrome in children is a common pediatric neurological disorder,mainly manifested as involuntary,rapid and repeated muscle twitching and vocal tics,which brings serious psychological pressure and life disturbance to the affected children.Conclusion:For children with Tourette’s syndrome,healthcare professionals should give enough care and understanding to the children and their parents,provide timely and effective health education to them,help them improve their bad behavioral habits,establish correct cognitive attitudes,enhance self-confidence,improve patient compliance,reduce the frequency of recurrence,reduce the incidence of complications and promote children’s physical and mental health development.

Research on Children’s Game Activity Design Strategies Based on Embodied Cognition Theory

Edutainment,in the kindergarten education stage,emphasizes the game as the basic activity and combines the content of education with the form of the game,thus it also forms the educational method of gamification teaching.Through investigation and analysis,it is found that the current kindergarten game activity design has the problem of improper combination of educational content and game form.The current kindergarten game activity design has problems such as stereotypes,children’s lack of active learning opportunities in activities,teachers’insufficient theoretical understanding,inappropriate teacher guidance methods,and so on.Embodied cognition theory attaches importance to the important role of the body in the development of cognition,provides new guidance for classroom teaching,and opens up a new path for classroom teaching reform.Based on the perspective of embodied cognition theory,the concept of body and mind integration should be adhered to in kindergarten teaching with games as the basic activity,experiential teaching situation should be created,children’s subjective experience should be respected,and games and interactions should be designed to promote children’s physical and mental participation,thus laying a foundation for the realization of children’s individual freedom,autonomy,and all-round development.Therefore,this paper aims at the existing problems in the current kindergarten gamification teaching and discusses the design strategy of children’s game activities based on embodied cognition theory.

A near-vision chart for children aged 3-5 years old:new designs and clinical applications

AIM:To introduce a new near-vision chart for children aged 3-5 years old and its clinical applications.METHODS:Thenewnear-visionchartwhichcombined the Bailey-Lovie layout with a newly devised set of symmetry symbols was designed based on WeberFechner law.It consists of 15 rows of symmetry symbols,corresponding to a visual acuity range from 1.3 to 0.1logMAR.The optotypes were red against a white background and were specially shaped four basic geometric symbols:circle,square,triangle,and cross,which matched the preschool children’s cognitive level.A regular geometric progression of the optotype sizes and distribution was employed to arrange in 15 lines.The progression rate of the optotype size between two lines was 1.2589 and two smaller groups of optotypes ranging from 0.7 to-0.1 logMAR were included for repetitive testing.A near visual acuity was recorded in logMAR or decimal,and the testing distance was 25 cm.RESULTS:This new near-vision chart with pediatric acuity test optotypes which consists of 4 different symbols(triangle,square,cross,and circle)met the national and international eye chart design guidelines.When performing the near visual acuity assessment in preschoolers(3-5y old).It overcame an inability to recognize the letters of the alphabet and difficulties in designating the direction of black abstract symbols such as the tumbling’E’or Landolt’C’,which the subjects were prone to lose interest in.Near vision may be recorded in different notations:decimal acuity and logMAR.These two notations can be easily convertedeach other in the new near-vision chart.The measurements of this new chart not only showed a significant correlation and a good consistency with the Chinese national standard logarithmic near-vision chart(r=0.932,P【0.01),but also indicated good test-retest reliability(89%of retest scores were within 0.1 logMAR units of the initial test score)and a high response rate.CONCLUSION:The results of this study support the validity and reliability of near visual acuity measurements using the new near-vision chart in children aged 3-5y over a wide range of visual acuities,and the new eye chart was especially suitable for the detection of amblyopia risk factors and low vision examination in children(3-5y of age).It can be applied in routine clinical practice.

Spot Vision Screener视力筛查仪在儿童视力筛查中的应用分析

目的：通过对Spot Vision Screener视力筛查仪在儿童视力筛查中的应用探讨,寻求一种新型、可靠、方便的儿童屈光状况筛查方法。方法：对我院门诊进行筛查的2-9岁儿童共87例174眼进行屈光检查,并将结果与电脑显然验光结果进行对比。结果：Spot Vision Screener视力筛查仪与电脑显然验光结果对比,除右眼球镜值存在统计学差异外,两种方法测量的左眼球镜值、双眼柱镜值及柱镜轴向、双眼等效球镜值均无统计学差异（P〉0.05）。结论：Spot Vision Screener视力筛查仪操作简单易行,儿童配合度好,不失为临床对儿童进行视力筛查的一种新方法。

基于S-YOLO V5和Vision Transformer的视频内容描述算法

视频内容描述的自动生成是结合计算机视觉和自然语言处理等相关技术提出的一种新型交叉学习任务。针对当前视频内容生成描述模型可读性不佳的问题,本研究提出一种基于S-YOLO V5和Vison Transformer(ViT)的视频内容描述算法。首先,基于神经网络模型KATNA提取关键帧,以最少帧数进行模型训练;其次,利用S-YOLO V5模型提取视频帧中的语义信息,并结合预训练ResNet101模型和预训练C3D模型提取视频静态视觉特征和动态视觉特征,并对两种模态特征进行融合;然后,基于ViT结构的强大长距离编码能力,构建模型编码器对融合特征进行长距离依赖编码;最后,将编码器的输出作为LSTM解码器的输入,依次输出预测词,生成最终的自然语言描述。通过在MSR-VTT数据集上进行测试,本研究模型的BLEU-4、METEOR、ROUGEL和CIDEr分别为42.9、28.8、62.4和51.4;在MSVD数据集上进行测试,本研究模型的BLEU-4、METEOR、ROUGEL和CIDEr分别为56.8、37.6、74.5以及98.5。与当前主流模型相比,本研究模型在多项评价指标上表现优异。

Night Vision Characteristics and Application of MTV 2821CB CCD Camera

Aim To describe accumulating frames characteristics of CCD camera as a night vision detector. Methods Utilizing CCD external trigger, computer video capture card and image processing software, the image accumulation was made. Results The detection of the static object image whose illuminance on the CCD FPA(focal plane array) was less than 3 7×10 -5 lx was realized and the image's resolution of 300?TV lines was achieved. Conclusion This experimental system can provide a kind of night vision device capable of detecting the static object at low light level and with low cost compared to an image intensifier.
