In general, researchers use the traditional gravity model to characterize the contacts that exist between two cities. The traditional gravity model assumes ideal conditions, but these preconditions and their results often do not exist in realistic conditions. Thus, we used a modified gravity model to characterize the city contacts within a specific region. This model considers factors such as intercity complementarities, government intervention, and the diversity of the transportation infrastructure which is characterized as the transportation distance instead of the traditional Euclidean distance. We applied this model to an empirical study of city contact in the Zhujiang(Pearl) River Delta(PRD) of China. The regression results indicated that the modified gravity model could measure city contact more accurately and comprehensively than the traditional gravity model, i.e., it yielded a higher adjusted R2 value(0.379) than the traditional gravity model result(0.259). Our study also suggests that, in addition to urban-regional and metropolitan development, the complementarities of the basic functions of cities at the administrative and market levels, as well as the corporeal and immaterial levels, play very significant roles in the characterization of city contact. Given the complexity of city contact, it will be necessary to consider more relevant influential factors in the modified gravity model to characterize the features of city contact in the future.展开更多

The construction and application of the ANN model took into account the comprehensive, spatial and complex nature of urban land use. Through a preliminary calculation of the degree of intensive land use of the sample area, representative sample area selection and using the back propagation neural network model to train, the intensive land use level of each evaluation unit is finally determined in the study area. Results show that the method can effectively correct the errors caused by the limitations of the model itself and the determination of the ideal value and weights when the multifactor comprehensive evaluation is used alone. The ANN model can make the evaluation results more objective and practical. The evaluation results show a tendency of decreasing land use intensity from the core urban area to the periphery and the industrial functional area has relatively low land use intensity compared with other functional areas. Based on the evaluation results, some suggestions are put forward, such as transforming the mode of urban spatial expansion, strengthening the integration and potential exploitation of the land in the urban built-up area, and strengthening the control of the construction intensity of protected areas.展开更多

In recent years, with the rapid development of urbanization and unreasonable land development and utilization, the ecological environment has deteriorated sharply, and the stability of ecological environment has always been a difficult problem in the process of regional development. The spatial division of urban ecological function can be divided into different types of spatial utilization according to the fragile state of ecological environment, which not only guarantees urban construction but also maintains the ecological environment health, and has great economic benefits and ecological value in formulating regional development strategies and ecological protection. In this paper, from four perspectives of “land, water, human and forest”, eight factors affecting ecological sensitivity were selected, and GIS spatial superposition method was used to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis on the ecological sensitivity of Baoji City, and the evaluation results of single factor ecological sensitivity and comprehensive ecological sensitivity were obtained. The areas with different ecological sensitivity are divided into extremely sensitive areas, highly sensitive areas, moderately sensitive areas, slightly sensitive areas and non-sensitive areas. The research shows that the proportion of extreme, high, moderate, mild and insensitive areas in Baoji City is 7.32%, 10.57%, 22.25%, 42.91% and 16.95% respectively. Finally, the areas with different sensitivity grades are identified as three types of urban ecological function areas: ecological conservation area, ecological coordinated moderate utilization area and ecological suitable construction area, so as to provide scientific theoretical basis for urban construction and land use optimization in Baoji City.展开更多

The key to its planning is an ecological integration to make trade-off between economic wealth and environmental health, between material and spiritual civilization, between natural and human eco-cybernetics. Integration, demonstration, citizens’ participation and scientists’ and technician’s catalyzing are the key instruments for the implementation of the ecocity plan. "Clean production" and "ecological industry" are key elements in comprehensive development towards an eco-city. Beyond the technical and management questions, how to interlink production, consumption and reduction at the local and regional level, the spatial and urban dimension should be considered in order to perform an integrative urban eco-space.展开更多

文摘This study presents an order exponential model for estimating road traffic safety in city clusters. The proposed model introduces the traffic flow intrinsic properties and uses the characteristics and regular patterns of traffic development to identify road traffic safety levels in city clusters.Additionally,an evaluation index system of city cluster road traffic safety was constructed based on the spatial and temporal distribution. Then Order Exponential Evaluation Model(OEEM),a comprehensive model using order exponent function for road traffic safety evaluation, was put forward, which considers the main characteristics and the generation process of traffic accidents. The model effectively controlled the unsafe behavior of the traffic system. It could define the levels of city cluster road traffic safety and dynamically detect road safety risk. The proposed model was verified with statistical data from three Chinese city clusters by comparing the common model for road traffic safety with an ideal model. The results indicate that the order exponent approach undertaken in this study can be extended and applied to other research topics and fields.

文摘Eco-city development is a healthy process towards sustainable development, within the carrying capacity of local ecosystem through changing production mode, consumption behavior and decision instrument based on ecological economics and system engineering. Beyond the technical and management questions, how to interlink production, consumption and reduction at the local and regional level, the spatial and urban dimension should be considered in order to perform an integrative urban eco-space.
文摘Our understanding of urban form depends on how we perceive the city.Much of the literature on urban form(1)has focused on the pre-industrial and industrial city, celebrating its compact form, contiguous functions and single dominant centre.More recently writings by Castels(2)and Soja(3)have described the dispersed, city of the post industrial era. This networked city triggered by the freedom afforded by the new technology(4)has exposed a new dimension to urban form. The model of the compact city advocated by those such as Lord Rogers Task Force for delivering the Urban Renaissance(5)is being questioned(6)and a new model of“high density nodes,in a high density landscape resulting in a low density city,”as in the Deltametropolis, described by Dirk Frieling(7).Compactness,cramming more development into the city and making public spaces of a higher density and quality,Rogers and Burdett argue(8)will make“urban living attractive, ecologically sustainable, economically strong and socially inclusive.”The alternative argument is that the economic success of cities is reliant on the networking of resources across a metropolitan region.Echenique argues(9)that cities disperse in their search for mobility and space.“Mobility increases the effi ciency of households and fi rms which in turn generates more income and profi ts.As income increases,so does the demand for space, residential and commercial alike.”Sustainability has become the current banner of political correctness.Sustainability however is a slippery word.It is easy to focus on one aspect and lose the value of its holistic meaning. For many architects“green buildings”equals a sustainable future. However, clever design solutions single-mindedly pursued with little regard to the wider exploration of the potential environmental savings that may be achieved through organisational innovation are only half the answer.A holistic approach concerned with both building and organisational design and focused on“lean thinking”(10)could make considerable inroads into reducing the ecological footprint. The paper draws on DEGW’s experience of advising major corporations and cities on strategies for managing the process of intensifi cation and change(11).It explores how major improvements might be gained in meeting our goals for the sustainable city through reconsidering the way we work and allocate space. The underlying proposition is that technology has offered us new opportunities which have changed our paradigm of living and working. This in turn has provided us with a new perception of the city,as a distributed series of high density centres connected by good public and private transport, within a low density landscape. The paper argues that considerable improvements in workplace sustainability can be achieved by applying a holistic approach. These may include a combination of strategies, from rethinking the organisation of work processes and the locations and time work is undertaken,to reducing the need for resources by a more intensive use of land and fl oor space.Disjointed, dispersed“urban sprawl”can be wasteful. The alternative emerging urban form is a planned, dispersed,“networked”city with well integrated public and private transport that yields greater choice of location and lifestyles so supporting social, economic and environmental sustainability.
文摘Reasonable development and utilization of spatial resources in the coastal zone not only affects the development quality of the marine economy but also impacts the utilization efficiency of spatial resources, playing an important role in regional sustainable development.Depending on the natural, economic, and societal characteristics of a region, research topics such as using relevant methods to divide the coastline, proper spatial development of the coast, protecting coastal zones, and achieving higher spatial resource distribution efficiency have recently become hot topics in geographic research. Most of the scholars construct the evaluation index system from the perspective of economic and ecological factors and undertake some exploration of the division methods. However, the selection of indicators for a coastal zone needs a different and more scientific approach. There is a need for emphasizing the overall strategy of land-ocean integration in developing spatial resources in a coastal zone.Taking the coastal zone in Ningbo as an example, this paper develops a new evaluation framework and spatial function regionalization method that is used to divide the coastline and coastal zone.Based on the perspective of overall strategy for the land and ocean,we evaluate the suitability of coastline development. We then propose the spatial function regionalization of the coastal zone. Finally, based on the status quo of spatial development in Ningbo,we divide the coastal zone into ecological space, production space and living space, and propose adjustment directions and control requirements for the different types of spatial layouts.
