Cerium oxide has a great capacity to remove nonbridging oxygen atoms (NBO) from the glass network and serves as glass former units. The well formed CeO<sub>4</sub> units played the role of decreasing NBO f...Cerium oxide has a great capacity to remove nonbridging oxygen atoms (NBO) from the glass network and serves as glass former units. The well formed CeO<sub>4</sub> units played the role of decreasing NBO from the silicate network and cause a reduction in the concentration of tetrahedral boron groups (N<sub>4</sub>). The highest content of NBO in glass of lower CeO<sub>2</sub> (1 mol%) has a dominant role in constructing crystalline clusters in the glass. Higher CeO<sub>2</sub> concentration leads to formation of an amorphous glass network as documented by XRD and TEM-EDP spectra. Coordination of cerium with oxygen atoms gives uniform units of spherical morphology in the pure CeO<sub>2</sub> as well as in cerium rich glass. Clustered species has a great benefit in the field of application, used as a shielding material for ionized radiations.展开更多
The mobile transient and sensor network’s routing algorithm detects available multi-hop paths between source and destination nodes.However,some methods are not as reliable or trustworthy as expected.Therefore,finding...The mobile transient and sensor network’s routing algorithm detects available multi-hop paths between source and destination nodes.However,some methods are not as reliable or trustworthy as expected.Therefore,finding a reliable method is an important factor in improving communication security.For further enhancement of protected communication,we suggest a trust cluster based secure routing(TCSR)framework for wireless sensor network(WSN)using optimization algorithms.First,we introduce an efficient cluster formation using a modified tug of war optimization(MTWO)algorithm,which provides loadbalanced clusters for energy-efficient data transmission.Second,we illustrate the optimal head selection using multiple design constraints received signal strength,congestion rate,data loss rate,and throughput of the node.Those parameters are optimized by a butterfly optimal deep neural network(BO-DNN),which provides first-level security towards the selection of the best head node.Third,we utilize the lightweight signcryption to encrypt the data between two nodes during data transmission,which provides second-level security.The model provides an estimation of the trust level of each route to help a source node to select the most secure one.The nodes of the network improve reliability and security by maintaining the reliability component.Simulation results showed that the proposed scheme achieved 45.6%of delivery ratio.展开更多

The lifetime...Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to observe the evolutions of 512 and 51262 cage-like water clusters filled with or without a methane molecule immersed in bulk liquid water at 250 K and 230 K. The lifetimes of these clusters are calculated according to their Lindemann index δ (t) using the criteria of δ≥0.07. For both the filled and empty clusters, we find the dynamics of bulk water determines the lifetimes of cage-like water clusters, and that the lifetime of 512 62 cage-like cluster is the same as that of 512 cage-like cluster. Although the methane molecule indeed makes the filled cage-like cluster more stable than the empty one, the empty cage-like cluster still has chance to be long-lived compared with the filled clusters. These observations support the labile cluster hypothesis on the formation mechanisms of gas hydrates.展开更多

The...Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a significant concept of wireless networks which comprises of thousands of nodes that are mobile as well as autonomous and they do not requires any existing network infrastructure. The autonomous nodes can freely and randomly move within the network which can create temporary dynamic network and these networks can change their topology frequently. The security is the primary issue in MANET which degrades the network performance significantly. In this paper, cluster based malicious node detection methodology is proposed to detect and remove the malicious nodes. Each node within the cluster gets the cluster key from the cluster head and this key is used for the data transaction between cluster head and node. The cluster head checks this key for every data transaction from node and match with their cluster table. If match is valid, and then only it will recognize that this node is belongs to this cluster, otherwise it is decided as malicious node. This paper also discusses the detection of link failure due to the presence of malicious node by determining the gain of each link in the network. The performance of the proposed method is analyzed using packet delivery ratio, network life time, and throughput and energy consumption. The proposed malicious node detection system is compared with the conventional techniques as OEERP (Optimized energy efficient routing protocol), LEACH (Low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy), DRINA (Data routing for In-network aggregation) and BCDCP (Base station controlled dynamic clustering protocol).展开更多
We compile a new sample of 89 open clusters with ages, distances and metallicities available. We derive a radial iron gradient of about -0.099±0.008 dex kpc^(-1) (unweighted) for the whole sample, which is somewh...We compile a new sample of 89 open clusters with ages, distances and metallicities available. We derive a radial iron gradient of about -0.099±0.008 dex kpc^(-1) (unweighted) for the whole sample, which is somewhat greater than the most recent determination of oxygen gradient from nebulae and young stars. By dividing the clusters into age groups, we show that the iron gradient was steeper in the past and has evolved slowly in time. Current data show a substantial scatter of the cluster metallicities indicating that the Galactic disk has undergone a very rapid, inhomogeneous enrichment. Also, based on a simple, but quite successful model of chemical evolution of the Milky Way disk, we make a detailed calculation of the iron abundance gradient and its time evolution. The predicted current iron gradient is about -0.072 dex kpc^(-1). The model also predicts a steady flattening of the iron gradient with time, which agrees with the result from our open cluster sample.展开更多

An interesting observational phenomenon is that some of the embedded clusters show mass segregation, i.e., the most massive stars are preferentially found near the cluster center. We develop a new approach to describe mass segregation. Using this approach and the Two Micron All Sky Survey Point Source Catalog (2MASS PSC), we analyze 18 embedded clusters in the Galaxy. We find that 11 of them are mass-segregated and that the others are not mass-segregated. No inversely mass-segregated cluster is found.展开更多

We base our reassessment on the clusters' luminosi- ties (an observational quantity) rather than their masses (a derived quantity), and confirm conclusively that the galaxy's starburst-ring clusters--and particularly the youngest subsample, log(t yr-1) ≤7.2- show evidence of a turnover in the cluster luminosity function well above the 90% completeness limit adopted to ensure the reliability of our results. This confirmation emphasizes the unique conundrum posed by this unusual cluster population.展开更多

Until several decades ago, star clusters were believed to be ideal laboratories for studies of simple stellar populations (SSPs). However, discoveries of multiple stellar populations in Galactic globular clus- ters have expanded our view on stellar populations in star clusters. They have simultaneously generated a number of controversies, particularly as to whether young star clusters may have the same origin as old globular clusters. In addition, extensive studies have revealed that the SSP scenario does not seem to hold for some intermediate-age and young star clusters either, thus making the origin of multiple stellar popu- lations in star clusters even more complicated. Stellar population anomalies in numerous star clusters are well-documented, implying that the notion of star clusters as true SSPs faces serious challenges. In this review, we focus on stellar populations in massive clusters with different ages. We present the history and progress of research in this active field, as well as some of the most recent improvements, including ob- servational results and scenarios that have been proposed to explain the observations. Although our current ability to determine the origin of multiple stellar populations in star clusters is unsatisfactory, we propose a number of promising projects that may contribute to a significantly improved understanding of this subject.展开更多
In this Letter, we develop the Stokes space-based method for modulation format identification by combing power spectral density and a cluster analysis to identify quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) and phase-shift...In this Letter, we develop the Stokes space-based method for modulation format identification by combing power spectral density and a cluster analysis to identify quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) and phase-shift keying(PSK) signals. Fuzzy c-means and hierarchical clustering algorithms are used for the cluster analysis.Simulations are conducted for binary PSK, quadrature PSK, 8PSK, 16-QAM, and 32-QAM signals. The results demonstrate that the proposed technique can effectively classify all these modulation formats, and that the method is superior in lowering the threshold of the optical signal-to-noise ratio. Meanwhile, the proposed method is insensitive to phase offset and laser phase noise.展开更多

To deal with this problem, clustering decision is made to process transmission. In this paper clustering methods based on the metric signal-to-leakage-plus-noise(SLNR) is proposed. In addition, user scheduling schemes based on SLNR is also put up to make the scheduling set as large as possible. Simulation results show that the proposed clustering methods not only reduce the data sharing among the cooperating base stations(BSs), but also improve the system throughput compared with the traditional clustering methods based on channel strength.展开更多
Conventional fluorescent polymers are featured by large conjugation structures.In contrast,a new class of fluorescent polymers without any conjugations is gaining great interest in immerging applications.Polyamide is ...Conventional fluorescent polymers are featured by large conjugation structures.In contrast,a new class of fluorescent polymers without any conjugations is gaining great interest in immerging applications.Polyamide is a typical member of the conjugation-free fluorescent polymers.However,studies on their electrophotonic property are hardly available,although widely used in many fields.Herein,poly(ethylene succinamide),PA24,is synthesized;its chemical structure confirmed through multiple techniques(NMR,FTIR,XRD,etc.).PA24 is highly emissive as solid and in its solution at room temperature,and the emission is excitation and concentration dependant,with an unusual blue shift under excitation from 270 nm to 320 nm,a hardly observed phenomenon for all fluorescent polymers.Quite similar emission behavior is also observed under cryogenic condition at 77 K.Its emission behavior is thoroughly studied;the ephemeral emission blue-shift is interpreted through Förster resonance energy transfer.Based on its structures,the emission mechanism is ascribed to cluster-triggered emission,elucidated from multianalyses(NMR,FTIR,UV absorbance and DLS).In presence of a dozen of competitive metal ions,PA24 emission at 450 nm is selectively quenched by Fe^(3+).PA24 is used as probe for Fe^(3+)and H_(2)O_(2) detections and in data encryption.Therefore,this work provides a novel face of polyamide with great potential applications as sensors in different fields.展开更多
