Soil microorganisms are believed to be the key to this process, but research into their role in subsoil amelioration is limited. Therefore, a field experiment was conducted in 2018 in a region in northeastern China with Hapli-Udic Cambisol using four treatments: conventional tillage(CT, tillage to a depth of 15 cm with no straw incorporation), straw incorporation with conventional tillage(SCT, tillage to a depth of 15 cm),inversion tillage(IT, tillage to a depth of 35 cm) and straw incorporation with inversion tillage(SIT, tillage to a depth of 35 cm). The soils were managed by inversion to a depth of 15 or 35 cm every year after harvest. The results indicated that SIT improved soil multi-nutrient cycling variables and increased the availability of key nutrients such as soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, available nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium in both the topsoil and subsoil. In contrast to CT and SCT, SIT created a looser microbial network structure but with highly centralized clusters by reducing the topological properties of average connectivity and node number, and by increasing the average path length and the modularity. A Random Forest analysis found that the average path length and the clustering coefficient were the main determinants of soil multi-nutrient cycling. These findings suggested that SIT can be an effective option for improving soil multi-nutrient cycling and the structure of microbial networks, and they provide crucial information about the microbial strategies that drive the decomposition of straw in Hapli-Udic Cambisol.展开更多

The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was used to estimate the sensitivity and specificity of the Bayesian model.RESULTS: A total of 1000 eyes fundus images from diabetic patients in which 298 eyes were diagnosed as DR by two ophthalmologists. The Bayesian model was trained using four extracted textures including contrast, entropy, angular second moment and correlation using a training dataset. The Bayesian model achieved a sensitivity of 0.949 and a specificity of 0.928 in the validation dataset. The area under the ROC curve was 0.938, and the 10-fold cross validation method showed that the average accuracy rate is 93.5%.CONCLUSION: Textures extracted by grey level cooccurrence can be useful information for DR diagnosis, and a trained Bayesian model based on these textures can be an effective tool for DR screening among diabetic patients.展开更多

The diagnosis process has been done by visual interpretation of experienced pathologists. However, it is difficult to separate the favor benign from borderline types. Thus, this paper presents a classification approach based on 3D nuclei model to classify favor benign and borderline types of follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA) in cytological specimens. The proposed method utilized 3D gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) and random forest classifier. It was applied to 22 data sets of FN images. Furthermore, the use of 3D GLCM was compared with 2D GLCM to evaluate the classification results. From experimental results, the proposed system achieved 95.45% of the classification. The use of 3D GLCM was better than 2D GLCM according to the accuracy of classification. Consequently, the proposed method probably helps a pathologist as a prescreening tool.展开更多

In this paper, the propose system aims to automatically classify the white blood cells (leukocytes) on a given microscopic image. The classifications of leukocytes are performed based on the combination of color and texture features of the blood cell images. The developed system classifies the leukocytes in one of the five categories (neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes). In the preprocessing stage, the system starts with converting the microscopic images from Red Green Blue (RGB) color space to Hue Saturation Value (HSV) color space. Next, the system splits the Hue and Saturation features from the Value feature. For both Hue and Saturation features, the system processes their color information using the Feature Selection method and the Window Cropping method;while the Value feature is processed by its texture information using the Co-occurrence matrix method. The final recognition stage is performed using the Euclidean distance method. The combination of the Feature Selection and Co-occurrence Matrix methods gives the best overall recognition accuracies for classifying leukocyte images.展开更多

For multi-antenna systems operating at millimeter-wave bands, hybrid analog-digital structure has been widely adopted to reduce the cost of radio frequency chains. In this situation, signals received at the antennas are unavailable to the digital receiver, and as a consequence, traditional sample average approach cannot be used for SCM reconstruction in hybrid multi-antenna systems. To address this issue, beam sweeping algorithm(BSA) which can reconstruct the SCM effectively for a hybrid uniform linear array, has been proposed in our previous works. However, direct extension of BSA to a hybrid uniform circular array(UCA)will result in a huge computational burden. To this end, a low-complexity approach is proposed in this paper. By exploiting the symmetry features of SCM for the UCA, the number of unknowns can be reduced significantly and thus the complexity of reconstruction can be saved accordingly. Furthermore, an insightful analysis is also presented in this paper, showing that the reduction of the number of unknowns can also improve the accuracy of the reconstructed SCM. Simulation results are also shown to demonstrate the proposed approach.展开更多

文摘Inversion tillage with straw amendment is widely applied in northeastern China, and it can substantially increase the storage of carbon and improve multiple subsoil functions. These findings suggested that SIT can be an effective option for improving soil multi-nutrient cycling and the structure of microbial networks, and they provide crucial information about the microbial strategies that drive the decomposition of straw in Hapli-Udic Cambisol.

文摘In recent years, binary image steganography has developed so rapidly that the research of binary image steganalysis becomes more important for information security. In most state-of-the-art binary image steganographic schemes, they always find out the flippable pixels to minimize the embedding distortions. For this reason, the stego images generated by the previous schemes maintain visual quality and it is hard for steganalyzer to capture the embedding trace in spacial domain. However, the distortion maps can be calculated for cover and stego images and the difference between them is significant. In this paper,a novel binary image steganalytic scheme is proposed, which is based on distortion level co-occurrence matrix. The proposed scheme first generates the corresponding distortion maps for cover and stego images. Then the co-occurrence matrix is constructed on the distortion level maps to represent the features of cover and stego images. Finally, support vector machine, based on the gaussian kernel,is used to classify the features.Compared with the prior steganalytic methods, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can effectively detect stego images.

文摘AIM: To develop an automatic tool on screening diabetic retinopathy(DR) from diabetic patients.METHODS: We extracted textures from eye fundus images of each diabetes subject using grey level co-occurrence matrix method and trained a Bayesian model based on these textures. The area under the ROC curve was 0.938, and the 10-fold cross validation method showed that the average accuracy rate is 93.5%.CONCLUSION: Textures extracted by grey level cooccurrence can be useful information for DR diagnosis, and a trained Bayesian model based on these textures can be an effective tool for DR screening among diabetic patients.
文摘Since the efficiency of treatment of thyroid disorder depends on the risk of malignancy, indeterminate follicular neoplasm (FN) images should be classified. Consequently, the proposed method probably helps a pathologist as a prescreening tool.

文摘The co-occurrence of bacteria and microeukaryote species is a ubiquitous ecological phenomenon, but there is limited cross-domain research in aquatic environments. We conducted a network statistical analysis and visualization of microbial cross-domain co-occurrence patterns based on DNA sampling of a typical subtropical bay during four seasons, using high-throughput sequencing of both 18S rRNA and 16S rRNA genes.First,we found obvious relationships between network stability and network complexity indices. For example, increased cooperation and modularity were found to weaken the stability of cross-domain networks.Secondly,we found that bacterial operational taxonomic units(OTUs)were the most important contributors to network complexity and stability as they occupied more nodes, constituted more keystone OTUs,built more connections, more importantly, ignoring bacteria led to greater variation in network robustness.Gammaproteobacteria,Alphaproteobacteria,Bacteroidetes, and Actinobacteria were the most ecologically important groups. Finally,we found that the environmental drivers most associated with cross-domain networks varied across seasons(in detail, the network in January was primarily constrained by temperature and salinity, the network in April was primarily constrained by depth and temperature, the network in July was mainly affected by depth, temperature, and salinity, depth was the most important factor affecting the network in October)and that environmental influence was stronger on bacteria than on microeukaryotes.

文摘Denitrifying bacteria in epiphytic biofilms play a crucial role in nitrogen cycle in aquatic habitats. However, little is known about the connection between algae and denitrifying bacteria and their assembly processes in epiphytic biofilms.Epiphytic biofilms were collected from submerged macrophytes(Patamogeton lucens and Najas marina L.)in the Caohai Lake,Guizhou,SW China, from July to November 2020 to:(1)investigate the impact of abiotic and biotic variables on denitrifying bacterial communities;(2)investigate the temporal variation of the algae-denitrifying bacteria co-occurrence networks;and(3)determine the contribution of deterministic and stochastic processes to the formation of denitrifying bacterial communities.Abiotic and biotic factors influenced the variation in the denitrifying bacterial community,as shown in the Mantel test. The co-occurrence network analysis unveiled intricate interactions among algae to denitrifying bacteria.Denitrifying bacterial community co-occurrence network complexity(larger average degrees representing stronger network complexity)increased continuously from July to September and decreased in October before increasing in November. The co-occurrence network complexity of the algae and nirS-encoding denitrifying bacteria tended to increase from July to November. The co-occurrence network complexity of the algal and denitrifying bacterial communities was modified by ammonia nitrogen(NH_(4)^(+)-N)and total phosphorus(TP),pH,and water temperature(WT),according to the ordinary least-squares(OLS)model.The modified stochasticity ratio(MST)results reveal that deterministic selection dominated the assembly of denitrifying bacterial communities. The influence of environmental variables to denitrifying bacterial communities,as well as characteristics of algal-bacterial co-occurrence networks and the assembly process of denitrifying bacterial communities, were discovered in epiphytic biofilms in this study. The findings could aid in the appropriate understanding and use of epiphytic biofilms denitrification function,as well as the enhancement of water quality.

文摘The Western Subarctic Gyre(WSG)is one of the two gyre-systems in the subarctic North Pacific known for high nutrient and low-chlorophyll waters. However, the bacterioplankton in marine water of this area, either in terms of the taxonomic composition or functional structure, remains relatively unexplored.A total of 22 sampling sites from two water layers(surface water,SW and 50-m layer water,FW)were collected in this area. The physiochemical parameters of waters,Synechococcus, and bacterial density,as well as the bacterioplankton community composition and distribution pattern, were analyzed. The nutrient concentrations of DIN,DIP,and DSi,Chl-a concentration, and the average abundance of heterobacteria in FW were higher than those in SW.However, temperature and the average abundance of Synechococcus and pico-eukaryotes were higher in SW.A total of 3269 OTUs were assigned, and 2123OTUs were commonly shared;moreover, similar alpha diversity patterns were observed in both SW and FW.The bacterioplankton community showed significantly obvious correlation with salinity,DIP,DIN,and Chl a in both SW and FW.Proteobacteria,Cyanobacteria,Bacteroidota,Actinobacteriota, and Firmicutes were the main phyla while Synechococcus_CC9902,Psychrobacter,and Sulfitobacter were the dominant genera in each sampling site. Most correlations that happened between the OTUs in the cooccurrence network were positive and inter-module.Higher edges and graph density were found in SW,indicating that more correlations occurred, and the community was more complex in SW.This study provided novel knowledge on the bacterioplankton community structure and the correlation characteristics in WSG.

文摘BACKGROUND Cartilage defects are some of the most common causes of arthritis.Cartilage lesions caused by inflammation, trauma or degenerative disease normally result in osteochondral defects.Previous studies have shown that decellularized extracellular matrix(ECM)derived from autologous, allogenic,or xenogeneic mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)can effectively restore osteochondral integrity.AIM To determine whether the decellularized ECM of antler reserve mesenchymal cells(RMCs),a xenogeneic material from antler stem cells,is superior to the currently available treatments for osteochondral defects.METHODS We isolated the RMCs from a 60-d-old sika deer antler and cultured them in vitro to 70%confluence;50 mg/mL L-ascorbic acid was then added to the medium to stimulate ECM deposition.Decellularized sheets of adipocyte-derived MSCs(aMSCs)and antlerogenic periosteal cells(another type of antler stem cells)were used as the controls.Three weeks after ascorbic acid stimulation, the ECM sheets were harvested and applied to the osteochondral defects in rat knee joints.RESULTS The defects were successfully repaired by applying the ECM-sheets.The highest quality of repair was achieved in the RMC-ECM group both in vitro(including cell attachment and proliferation),and in vivo(including the simultaneous regeneration of well-vascularized subchondral bone and avascular articular hyaline cartilage integrated with surrounding native tissues).Notably, the antler-stem-cell-derived ECM(xenogeneic)performed better than the aMSC-ECM(allogenic),while the ECM of the active antler stem cells was superior to that of the quiescent antler stem cells.CONCLUSION Decellularized xenogeneic ECM derived from the antler stem cell, particularly the active form(RMC-ECM),can achieve high quality repair/reconstruction of osteochondral defects, suggesting that selection of decellularized ECM for such repair should be focused more on bioactivity rather than kinship.

文摘BACKGROUND The most important consideration in determining treatment strategies for undifferentiated early gastric cancer(UEGC)is the risk of lymph node metastasis(LNM).Therefore, identifying a potential biomarker that predicts LNM is quite useful in determining treatment.AIM To develop a machine learning(ML)-based integral procedure to construct the LNM gray-level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM)prediction model.METHODS We retrospectively selected 526 cases of UEGC confirmed through pathological examination after radical gastrectomy without endoscopic treatment in four tertiary hospitals between January 2015 to December 2021.We extracted GLCM-based features from grayscale images and applied ML to the classification of candidate predictive variables. The robustness and clinical utility of each model were evaluated based on the following factors:Receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC),decision curve analysis, and clinical impact curve.RESULTS GLCM-based feature extraction significantly correlated with LNM.The top 7 GLCM-based factors included inertia value 0°(IV_0),inertia value 45°(IV_45),inverse gap 0°(IG_0),inverse gap 45°(IG_45),inverse gap full angle(IG_all),Haralick 30°(Haralick_30),Haralick full angle(Haralick_all),and Entropy. The areas under the ROC curve(AUCs)of the random forest classifier(RFC)model, support vector machine,eXtreme gradient boosting, artificial neural network, and decision tree ranged from 0.805[95%confidence interval(CI):0.258-1.352]to 0.925(95%CI:0.378-1.472)in the training set and from 0.794(95%CI:0.237-1.351)to 0.912(95%CI:0.355-1.469)in the testing set, respectively. The RFC(training set:AUC:0.925,95%CI:0.378-1.472;testing set:AUC:0.912,95%CI:0.355-1.469)model that incorporates Entropy,Haralick_all,Haralick_30,IG_all,IG_45,IG_0,and IV_45 had the highest predictive accuracy.CONCLUSION The evaluation results indicate that the method of selecting radiological and textural features becomes more effective in the LNM discrimination against UEGC patients.Additionally, the MLbased prediction model developed using the RFC can be used to derive treatment options and identify LNM,which can hence improve clinical outcomes.
文摘In this paper, the matrix Riccati equation is considered. There is no general way for solving the matrix Riccati equation despite the many fields to which it applies. While scalar Riccati equation has been studied thoroughly, matrix Riccati equation of which scalar Riccati equations is a particular case, is much less investigated. This article proposes a change of variable that allows to find explicit solution of the Matrix Riccati equation. We then apply this solution to Optimal Control.
文摘BACKGROUND Frey syndrome, also known as ototemporal nerve syndrome or gustatory sweating syndrome,is one of the most common complications of parotid gland surgery. This condition is characterized by abnormal sensations in the facial skin accompanied by episodes of flushing and sweating triggered by cognitive processes, visual stimuli,or eating.AIM To investigate the preventive effect of acellular dermal matrix(ADM)on Frey syndrome after parotid tumor resection and analyzed the effects of Frey syndrome across various surgical methods and other factors involved in parotid tumor resection.METHODS Retrospective data from 82 patients were analyzed to assess the correlation between sex, age, resection sample size, operation time, operation mode,ADM usage, and occurrence of postoperative Frey syndrome.RESULTS Among the 82 patients, the incidence of Frey syndrome was 56.1%.There were no significant differences in sex, age,or operation time between the two groups(P>0.05).However,there was a significant difference between ADM implantation and occurrence of Frey syndrome(P<0.05).ADM application could reduce the variation in the incidence of Frey syndrome across different operation modes.CONCLUSION ADM can effectively prevent Frey syndrome and delay its onset.

文摘Autograft or metal implants are routinely used in skeletal repair. However, they fail to provide long-term clinical resolution, necessitating a functional biomimetic tissue engineering alternative. The use of native human bone tissue for synthesizing a biomimeticmaterial inkfor three-dimensional(3D)bioprintingof skeletal tissueis anattractivestrategyfor tissueregeneration. Thus, human bone extracellular matrix(bone-ECM)offers an exciting potential for the development of an appropriate microenvironment for human bone marrow stromal cells(HBMSCs)to proliferate and differentiate along the osteogenic lineage. In this study,we engineered a novel material ink(LAB)by blending human bone-ECM(B)with nanoclay(L,Laponite®)and alginate(A)polymers using extrusion-based deposition. The inclusion of the nanofiller and polymeric material increased the rheology, printability, and drug retention properties and, critically, the preservation of HBMSCs viability upon printing. The composite of human bone-ECM-based 3D constructs containing vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)enhanced vascularization after implantation in an ex vivo chick chorioallantoic membrane(CAM)model. The inclusion of bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2)with the HBMSCs further enhanced vascularization and mineralization after only seven days. This study demonstrates the synergistic combination of nanoclay with biomimetic materials(alginate and bone-ECM)to support the formation of osteogenic tissue both in vitro and ex vivo and offers a promising novel 3D bioprinting approach to personalized skeletal tissue repair.

文摘BACKGROUND Abdominal wall deficiencies or weakness are a common complication of tem-porary ostomies, and incisional hernias frequently develop after colostomy or ileostomy takedown. The use of synthetic meshes to reinforce the abdominal wall has reduced hernia occurrence.Biologic meshes have also been used to enhance healing, particularly in contaminated conditions.Reinforced tissue matrices(R-TMs),which include a biologic scaffold of native extracellular matrix and a syn-thetic component for added strength/durability,are designed to take advantage of aspects of both synthetic and biologic materials. To date,RTMs have not been reported to reinforce the abdominal wall following stoma reversal.METHODS Twenty-eight patients were selected with a parastomal and/or incisional hernia who had received a temporary ileostomy or colostomy for fecal diversion after rectal cancer treatment or trauma.Following hernia repair and proximal stoma closure,RTM(OviTex®1S permanent or OviTex®LPR)was placed to reinforce the abdominal wall using a laparoscopic, robotic,or open surgical approach.Post-operative follow-up was performed at 1 month and 1 year.Hernia recurrence was determined by physical examination and, when necessary, via computed tomo-graphy scan.Secondary endpoints included length of hospital stay, time to return to work, and hospital readmissions.Evaluated complications of the wound/repair site included presence of surgical site infection, seroma, hematoma, wound dehiscence,or fistula formation.RESULTS The observational study cohort included 16 male and 12 female patients with average age of 58.5 years±16.3 years and average body mass index of 26.2 kg/m^(2)±4.1 kg/m^(2).Patients presented with a parastomal hernia(75.0%),in-cisional hernia(14.3%),or combined parastomal/incisional hernia(10.7%).Using a laparoscopic(53.6%),robotic(35.7%),or open(10.7%)technique,RTMs(OviTex®LPR:82.1%,OviTex®1S:17.9%)were placed using sublay(82.1%)or intraperitoneal onlay(IPOM;17.9%)mesh positioning. At 1-month and 1-year follow-ups,there were no hernia recurrences(0%).Average hospital stays were 2.1 d±1.2 d and return to work occurred at 8.3 post-operative days±3.0 post-operative days.Three patients(10.7%)were readmitted before the 1-month follow up due to mesh infection and/or gastrointestinal issues.Fistula and mesh infection were observed in two patients each(7.1%),leading to partial mesh removal in one patient(3.6%).There were no complications between 1 month and 1 year(0%).CONCLUSION RTMs were used successfully to treat parastomal and incisional hernias at ileostomy reversal, with no hernia recurrences and favorable outcomes after 1-month and 1-year.

文摘In regard to unconventional oil reservoirs, the transient dual-porosity and triple-porosity models have been adopted to describe the fluid flow in the complex fracture network. It has been proven to cause inaccurate production evaluations because of the absence of matrix-macrofracture communication. In addition, most of the existing models are solved analytically based on Laplace transform and numerical inversion.Hence,an approximate analytical solution is derived directly in real-time space considering variable matrix blocks and simultaneous matrix depletion. To simplify the derivation, the simultaneous matrix depletion is divided into two parts:one part feeding the macrofractures and the other part feeding the microfractures. Then,a series of partial differential equations(PDEs)describing the transient flow and boundary conditions are constructed and solved analytically by integration. Finally,a relationship between oil rate and production time in real-time space is obtained. The new model is verified against classical analytical models. When the microfracture system and matrix-macrofracture communication is neglected, the result of the new model agrees with those obtained with the dual-porosity and triple-porosity model, respectively.Certainly, the new model also has an excellent agreement with the numerical model. The model is then applied to two actual tight oil wells completed in western Canada sedimentary basin. After identifying the flow regime, the solution suitably matches the field production data, and the model parameters are determined.Through these output parameters,we can accurately forecast the production and even estimate the petrophysical properties.

文摘In the case of massive data, matrix operations are very computationally intensive, and the memory limitation in standalone mode leads to the system inefficiencies. At the same time,it is difficult for matrix operations to achieve flexible switching between different requirements when implemented in hardware. To address this problem, this paper proposes a matrix operation accelerator based on reconfigurable arrays in the context of the application of recommender systems(RS).Based on the reconfigurable array processor(APR-16)with reconfiguration,a parallelized design of matrix operations on processing element(PE)array is realized with flexibility. The experimental results show that, compared with the proposed central processing unit(CPU)and graphics processing unit(GPU)hybrid implementation matrix multiplication framework, the energy efficiency ratio of the accelerator proposed in this paper is improved by about 35×.Compared with blocked alternating least squares(BALS),its the energy efficiency ratio has been accelerated by about 1×,and the switching of matrix factorization(MF)schemes suitable for different sparsity can be realized.
文摘A leukocyte recognition system, as part of a differential blood counter system, is very important in hematology field. The combination of the Feature Selection and Co-occurrence Matrix methods gives the best overall recognition accuracies for classifying leukocyte images.

文摘For the reduction of bovine serum proteins from wastewater,a novel mixed matrix membrane was prepared by functionalizing the substrate material polyaryletherketone(PAEK),followed by carboxyl groups(C-SPAEKS),and then adding amino-functionalized UiO-66-NH_(2)(Am-UiO-66-NH_(2)).Aminofunctionalization of UiO-66 was accomplished by melamine, followed by an amidation reaction to immobilize Am-UiO-66-NH_(2),which was immobilized on the surface of the membrane as well as in the pore channels, which enhanced the hydrophilicity of the membrane surface while increasing the negative potential of the membrane surface. This nanoparticle-loaded ultrafiltration membrane has good permeation performance, with a pure water flux of up to 482.3 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1) for C-SPAEKS/AmUiO-66-NH_(2) and a retention rate of up to 98.7%for bovine serum albumin(BSA)-contaminated solutions.Meanwhile, after several hydrophilic modifications, the flux recovery of BSA contaminants by this series of membranes increased from 56.2%to 80.55%of pure membranes. The results of ultra-filtration flux time tests performed at room temperature showed that the series of ultrafiltration membranes remained relatively stable over a test time of 300 min. Thus, the newly developed mixed matrix membrane showed potential for high efficiency and stability in wastewater treatment containing bovine serum proteins.

文摘Spatial covariance matrix(SCM) is essential in many multi-antenna systems such as massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO). Simulation results are also shown to demonstrate the proposed approach.
