Performance Evaluation for College Curriculum Teaching Reform Using Artificial Neural Network

To address the problems of poor performance evaluation and performance management of college curriculum reform,the performance evaluation method of college curriculum reform using artificial neural networks is proposed.First,the performance evaluation index system of college curriculum reform using artificial neural network technology is constructed.Second,the performance evaluation algorithm of college curriculum reform is improved,and the performance evaluation process of college curriculum reform is simplified.The experiment proves that the performance evaluationmethod of college curriculum reform using artificial neural networks has higher practicality than the traditional method and fully meets the research requirements.

Reform of College English Curriculum Setup for Non-English Majors： A Case Study of an Ordinary University in China

English learning and teaching has been a hot research topic in China since the coming of the 21 st century. By way of questionnaire surveys and interviews, the research group takes one ordinary Chinese university as a case to study the reform of College English curriculum setup. The paper focuses on study of extended courses, which are the most typical reflections of the reform in this university. In the first stage, 4,330 students are surveyed or interviewed in the pre-research process and another 1,270 participants from Grades 2013 and 2014 in the second stage fmish the questionnaire about the reform. The paper analyses the results of 1,215 valid questionnaires. The analyses and discussions in the research include four aspects, which are participants＇ overall attitudes towards the reform of College English curriculum setup, current situation of course teaching and assessment, degree of satisfaction with the extended courses and participants＇ feedbacks and suggestions. In the end of the study the existing problems in the reform are listed and suggestions are given to further reform the College English curriculum.

Study on the Enlightenment of MOOCs on College English Curriculum Setting

MOOC, as a new means of education informatization, does impact the traditional college English curriculum settings, which needs to adapt to the development trend of online education. Through the analysis of the domestic and foreign literature review, it concludes that our country＇s college English curriculum should introduce more MOOCs, and make international MOOCs become one parts of their own curriculums. Students can choose any English course with their own interests. And college English curriculum teachers should improve their skills and become more specialized to adapt to the new trend of world higher education.

College English Curriculum Reform and Practice Based on Culture Cognitive Analysis From the New Media Prospective

With the increase of international cultural exchange, training and strengthening college students＇ cultural cognitive ability is a burgeoning research subject in today＇s foreign language teaching profession of colleges and universities Cross-cultural communication skills and cultural cognition abilities have become an important measure of the ability of the modem language talents. This paper tries to implement a comprehensive reform of college English curriculum system through an empirical research in order to improve students＇ cultural cognitive abilities and cross-cultural communicative competence and change the non-ideal situation in college English teaching. Its valuable experience can greatly promote language teaching and help other universities reform their college English curriculum.

Research on the Reform of Course Assessment and Evaluation in Colleges and Universities

Under the background of the new concept of“four evaluations”,colleges and universities need to strengthen the management of learning process,promote the reform of curriculum process evaluation,build a diversified student learning evaluation system,reflect the achievement of curriculum objectives,timely feedback and form continuous improvement.This paper discusses the necessity of the reform of college curriculum evaluation,interprets the concept of the new concept,and puts forward the implementation method of the evaluation reform,in order to contribute to the reform of college curriculum evaluation.

How a Computer Assists English Teaching and Learning among Vocational Colleges

"College English Curriculum Requirements", edited by Department of Higher Education(2007), put forward clearly one of the key points of the national College English teaching reform was to strengthen the application of computer to college English teaching and apply computer-and-classroom-based English teaching mode, improving the previous mode dominated by a single teacher. Most colleges and universities in China have basically achieved the popularity of computer multimedia classrooms and campus networks. However, according to researches(Xia, 2002), most teachers still hold the main role of them in classes as"language interpreter"and"language instructor". Although advanced computer technology has been provided, most teachers feel confused or difficult in using it to assist their English teaching efficiently. As a consequence, computer technology fail to play its role in English classes. Driven by the great development of science and technology, computer has brought about incredible changes in every aspect of social life since 1980 s. In current times, almost every aspect of college students' life has been closely associated with computer. However, in most situations, computer is not taken as a typical language learning tool in their daily life. It is known that most students' English basis is relatively weak in vocational colleges; meanwhile, the way in which they learned English during the middle school period was basically translation- based teaching. Thus they have little or even no interest in English learning at all. In this way, discovering a new and interesting way with the aid of computer to learn English is of essential importance. Based on this, the paper discusses five major aspects under the circumstance of computer-assisted English learning. It is hoped that vocational college English teaching and learning can become more efficient by means of computer technology, finally students' English learning motivation and English competence can be enhanced to a great extent.

Localized Representation of Formative Assessment in China:A Regional Study from a Sociocultural Perspective

Formative assessment originated and developed in a Western context.With its function of learning improvement being evidenced in research,formative assessment has been adopted in assessment initiatives in multiple contexts including that of China.Research,however,reveals that formative assessment as implemented in Chinese contexts is by no means equivalent to what is understood and implemented in the West;rather,in many cases,it is decontextualised and recontextualised,or culturally appropriated.This paper presents findings of a study which examined the culturally appropriated representation of formative assessment within eight universities in a mid-western province of China.Senior administrators in each university were interviewed face-to-face and individually to fulfill three purposes:(1)To clarify understandings of formative assessment in the area of college English education;(2)To explore the existing gap between formative assessment principles and their representation in College English Curriculum Requirements(CECR),and the gap between formative assessment initiatives at the national level and local contexts;and(3)To distill implications for policy-borrowing and effective implementation in the Chinese context.
