The development objectives of the Chinese government have a guiding effect on the school-running characteristics of private colleges and universities.This paper explores the relationship between the characteristics of private colleges and universities and the development objectives of the provincial government,using Jiangsu Province as a case study.All the schools have the consciousness of fully considering the development objectives of Jiangsu Province when formulating the school-running characteristics.Their characteristics all contain some training methods,training courses,or institutional construction aiming at the development objectives.Most universities can support the government’s objectives on employment and innovation.Only a third of the schools provide government support for science research.Private colleges and universities should make full use of the free and flexible advantages of private education,combine them with the continuous changes of policies and markets,and create clear,scientific,and dynamic school-running characteristics,in order to achieve long-term development. 展开更多

Using university rating as an index to performance, empirical analyses with the data from 145 public universities and colleges in China show that increased competition in the education service market is associated with higher university's (college's) performance. And increased competition in R&D may make a quadratic effect on university's (college's) performance. University's performance improves when a university is directed as a branch of the central government because they enjoy some degree of management flexibility more than the local government controlled ones. A major implication of the study is the need to reform competition and regulation for improving universities and colleges' operating performance in China. 展开更多

Listening is very important for the learning of a language.We must ensure that there are language standardization and foundation of practice while learning any languages.By improving listening,the language communication ability can be improved.Learning other languages requires listening as the foundation of learning.In college English teaching,listening also takes very important position.However,due to the current situation of Chinese education and the characteristics of students’learning,Chinese students generally have a lower level of listening skills,and usually,most of them score very low in the listening part in level 4 or level 6 of the College English Tests.The root cause of this phenomenon is that listening test in some underdeveloped areas of China is not included as part of the test results of the middle and high school entrance examinations,and very often,listening was neglected in English lessons.As a result,many students end up with poor listening performance result.However,in college,the teaching of listening still follows the traditional education model of the past,and there are many lessons allocated to this aspect of English learning.In addition,there is almost no strategic guidance in the learning process,making students unable to begin on listening practice.Although both teachers and students tried to improve their listening skills,the results were unsatisfactory.Therefore,it is imperative to solve the problem of poor English listening level of students.Experts such as Huang Zidong and Wang Yu believe that strengthening strategic training is currently a very important method to improve students’English listening skills. 展开更多

There has been some concerned raised that students that come to university from college may not be academically (or emotionally) prepared for the faster-paced university programs. This research, which was funded by an Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer Faculty Fellowship, examines the academic performance of students in computer-related disciplines with a focus on comparing students who come to a university through a formalized college-to-university transfer agreement relative to students who enroll directly from high school. 高校教师绩效多准则定量评价机制创新与分析研究

采用熵权TOPSIS方法建立了包含人才培养、科学研究、社会服务等相关指标的高校教师多准则绩效评价模型,对比了原积分排名与TOPSIS模型、熵权TOPSIS模型的绩效评价结果,讨论了评价指标变化及样本变化对指标间权重分布及评价结果的影响。... 采用熵权TOPSIS方法建立了包含人才培养、科学研究、社会服务等相关指标的高校教师多准则绩效评价模型,对比了原积分排名与TOPSIS模型、熵权TOPSIS模型的绩效评价结果,讨论了评价指标变化及样本变化对指标间权重分布及评价结果的影响。发现熵权TOPSIS模型中内部差异化大的指标具有高权重,并使在内部差异化大的指标中表现突出的教师排名提升,评价结果明显区别于积分排序。评价指标的增减不影响原评价指标的权重排序,但指标权重增大或者减小的量与其原来权重的排序成正比。评价对象数量的增减将改变评价指标权重,并对评价结果排序产生影响。结果表明:通过建立分类考核与评价机制,平衡导向性和多元性的指标体系,选取科学合理的业绩量化标准,熵权TOPSIS方法可以客观、综合地评价教师取得的成果。 展开更多

基于某新高考省份高中毕业生的大规模问卷调查数据,使用断点回归方法研究进入不同梯队优质高中对学生高考成绩、选科选考及学习投入的影响。研究发现:从学业成绩来看,优质高中并没有显著提升学生的高考成绩;相比在第二梯队优质高中做“... 基于某新高考省份高中毕业生的大规模问卷调查数据,使用断点回归方法研究进入不同梯队优质高中对学生高考成绩、选科选考及学习投入的影响。研究发现:从学业成绩来看,优质高中并没有显著提升学生的高考成绩;相比在第二梯队优质高中做“鸡头”,勉强进入第一梯队优质高中的“凤尾”学生甚至可能面临成绩损失。从学习行为来看,“鸡头”和“凤尾”学生在选科选考和学习投入方面差异不大;相比非优质高中的“鸡头”,第二梯队优质高中的“凤尾”学生更晚确定选考科目、校内学习投入更少;相比第二梯队优质高中的“鸡头”,第一梯队优质高中的“凤尾”学生的校内学习投入更多、但学习效率更低。本文的研究发现侧面验证了政府部门监管择校、实施教育资源均衡政策的必要性。 展开更多
