Service-oriented air combat simulation architecture is proposed.The core design goal is high agility which represents the ability to accommodate the simulation requirements change.Its main idea is to design model units as services that can communicate and interoperate with any other services at runtime.A service is autonomous and is fully defined by a description contract which contains some combination of syntactic,semantic,and behavioral information.Based on the architecture,air combat simulation system can be described as an abstract composition of description contracts.It becomes concrete at run time as services that implement the constituent description contracts are discovered and bind.The whole process is a continuous run-time activity that responds to simulation needs and the availability of services.This provides benefits of implementation transparency and minimal dependency between models.Thus,simulation system can minimize the impact of change on it and increase the overall efficiency to respond to requirements change. 展开更多

In the present work,transparent and anti-fogging AlPO_(4)-5 films were prepared on glass substrates using a novel developed process.The process entails a simple in-situ sol–gel followed by vapor phase transport.The in-situ sol–gel process was implemented by coating the precursor sols for the synthesis of AlPO4-5 on the glass substrates successively using the spin-coating method.The films and powders scribed from the films were characterized by X-Ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),scanning electron microscope(SEM),atomic force microscope(AFM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscope(TEM).The unique films were composed of oblique oriented nanoflake AlPO_(4)-5 crystals with the thickness of about 20 nm.The formation of nano-flake crystals can be ascribed to the high concentration of the precursors,resulting in the formation of a supersaturation system.The obtained films showed high antifogging performance due to the superhydrophilicity with a water contact angle of lower than 1.0°.The silicone oil contact angle was also low about 8.2°.In addition,heteroatom-substituted AlPO_(4)-5 films showing different colors can be obtained easily by simply adding transition metal ions in the phosphate acid solution during the preparation that can extend the application of the method for different coating demand. 展开更多

A new approach to synthesize liquid crystalline polymer with narrow polydispersity index(PDI) was developed.Photopolymerization of 4-cyanophenyl-4'-(6-acryloyloxyhexyloxy)benzoate(RM23) in nematic liquid crystals with macroscopic orientation was studied.The effects of the monomer concentration on the molecular weight and PDI of the resulting polymers were studied through gel permeation chromatography(GPC) and polarized optical microscopy.The low PDI of 1.19 and 1.22 was obtained in the reverse and normal modes,respectively.The PDI and molecular weight increased with monomer concentration. 展开更多

This is a story about a Chinese herbalist Ing"Doc"Hay who combated the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic in the America West.As an immigrant,he came to the States as a laborer,but he had knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine due to his family heritage.This made it possible for him to start practicing in the Chinese community in John Day,Oregon,until 1948 when he retired.During the time of the pandemic miming wild in the 1910s,he prescribed formulas aimed at flu and boiled herbal decoction,personally delivering it to a working site for those Chinese laborers as well as non-Chinese patients.None of the laborer patients treated by him died during this deadly pandemic.Due to his success and fame,his practice was booming even after the Chinese community disappeared in John Day in later years.Doc Hay is always remembered in the history of earlier development in eastern Oregon,so that the site of his practicing,Kam Wah Chung and Co.Building,is now a national historic landmark.And more importantly,he has also been remembered by Chinese herbal medicine practitioners in the United States. 展开更多

The effectiveness of the department of defense's field manual 3-11 in detecting,deterring and degrading the breach of a combat base by a human-borne with bioagent(HBBA):perceptions of security personnel

Background: The department of defense's field manual(FM) 3-11 is among the military's field manuals for preparing for, reacting to and recovering from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear attacks. Since post 9-11, U.S. military service members have been deployed in the global war on terrorism. This study attempted to determine the effectiveness of the FM 3-11 in detecting, deterring or preventing a human-borne with bioagent(HBBA) terrorist breach at an entry control point(ECP).Methods: This time-specific, cross-sectional study disseminated a validated survey tool with Cronbach's α>0.82 to respondents who have had antiterrorism training and combat ECP experience. The return rate was greater than 75.0%; however, many of the respondents failed to meet the inclusion criteria. Consequently, only 26 questionnaires were included in the sample.Results: The results revealed that while over 60.0% of the respondents either strongly agreed or agreed that biointelligence, the deployment of biodetectors and the use of biowarning systems could be effective in preventing an ECP breach by a terrorist with a bioagent, the use of protective equipment and immunization to decontaminate service members or other tactics, techniques and procedures(TTPs) would never prevent a breach. A large percentage of respondents claimed that soldiers at the ECP lacked the devices or the knowledge to detect an HBBA at an ECP, and 72.0% suggested modifying current ECP TTPs to include education, training and equipment for security personnel at military base ECPs.Conclusion: If obtained from appropriate sources and communicated to the personnel at the ECP in an effective or timely manner, the possible effectiveness of certain TTPs in the FM 3-11, specifically FM 3-11.86(intelligence), might increase. 展开更多

The growth vigor tends to be strong and the first female blossom produces on the 4th or the 5th internode. Fruit is 34 cm long and 32 cm in transverse diameter. Per fruit weighs about 230 g. lt is dark green, densely covered with thorns. lt tastes crisp, containing 167.7 mg/kg Vc, and it is resistant to downy mildew, pow-dery mildew and bacterial angular leaf spot disease. lt is yielding and tolerant to low temperature and weak luminance. The yield can be as high as over 112 443.778 kg/hm^2, and ‘Oriental Show’ is suitable to be cultivated in greenhouses in early spring or solar greenhouses in north China or Henan province. 展开更多
